This coffee machine comes with biodegradable single-serve pods so you can ditch your Nespresso & Keuring

My first thought each morning is “coffee” and I always make mine at home instead of getting it at the office to do my part in reducing the waste single-serve pods create. While looking for an alternative that was just as convenient, I came across the Bruvi coffee machine and it comes with biodegradable pods! Nespresso and Keurig, we are in 2021 now so I hope you are taking notes.

Many of us who love coffee often struggle to find a balance between good flavor, convenience, and environmental impact – somehow you can only always pick two. The majority of people and offices use single-serve coffee pods because of the convenience factor but they are only escalating the waste problem by large numbers on a daily basis, this is where Bruvi steps in. Just like other coffee pod systems, it comes with a water reservoir and a pad to put your mug on. But what makes it different is the pod that goes into the coffee machine – ‘B-pods’ not only offers premium coffee brands but they are produced ethically and certified sustainable. They are 100% recyclable and are designed to degrade naturally without leaving any microplastics behind. The LED touch screen interface makes it easy to use and customize your drinks right to the level of acid and temperature. It also features sustainable bamboo on the handle, drip tray, and water tank cover.

The appliance also makes matcha lattes, teas, and infused drinks apart from all coffee-based beverages so there is something for everyone and no excuse for anyone to be creating more waste with single-serve pods. In fact, it is the first single-serve system to make quality cold brew (no, not the same as cold water and instant coffee or the coffee you leave in your refrigerator) which can also be more economical for those who have iced coffee all year round. Bruvi is a smart coffee maker and can be controlled remotely using their mobile app. This can reduce the heaps of disposable coffee pods that are clogging up landfills. The innovative brand has also eliminated adhesives and uses water-based inks for packaging. The premium B-pods meet the Golden Cup Standard of the Specialty Coffee Association so you are truly getting the best of flavor while being eco-conscious.

Made using 3000 Nespresso pods, this installation transforms ocean waste into art

The Superegg Installation is a comment on our capitalist tendencies and its effect on nature. By combining consumerism and creation into one hard-hitting sculpture, the art piece helps turn human-created ocean waste into an object that sparks conversations while saving the environment. The 6’6″ high structure comes made from 3000 Nespresso and Keurig single-use coffee pods that were pulled out of the ocean. These aluminum pods were then mounted onto aluminum sheets which were finally wrapped onto plywood rings to create the shape of an egg.

The Superegg installation looks like a Fabergé egg from afar, with the thousands of colorful pods forming patterns on it, but the magic is doubled at night, when a light within the installation illuminates the structure, causing it to create mesmeric shadows like tinted glass mosaics at churches and cathedrals. The egg acts as proof of how damaging our consumerism can be on the environment, while being a reminder that we can always turn our waste and wasteful behaviors into something more meaningful and nurturing.

The Superegg is a winner of the A’ Design Award for the year 2020.

If Santa Claus owned a portable espresso machine, this would be it…

Back in a winter-themed seasonal avatar, the Nanopresso from Wacaco is perhaps one of the smallest, most portable espresso machines in the world. It compresses every element of a coffee-maker into a form-factor small enough to fit right into your bag, and pair it with either a Nespresso pod or your own coffee-powder (placed in the Nanopresso’s pod) and you’ve got yourself espresso on the go, anywhere, anytime.

Partnering with artist Emma Tissier, Wacaco’s Nanopresso now comes in a bright red color, complete with seasonal artwork. Titled the Red Tattoo Pixie Edition, this Christmassy coffee maker is set up for a limited run, and comes with its own EVA foam case for you to carry around. Just add your coffee powder or pod and some hot water, let the pressure build up, and pour the freshest espresso right into Nanopresso’s cup. For a seasonal touch, top it off with a cinnamon stick and a spritz of Kahlúa!

The Capsulier Lets You Build your Own Artisanal Nespresso Pods!

The Nespresso machine identified a pretty unique problem. Coffee makes you energetic and gets you through the day, but prior to that first cup, you’re lazy, groggy, and pretty unlikely to go and manually brew your coffee. The Nespresso therefore gives you your serving of coffee in a jiffy. Insert a coffee pod into machine, close lid, press button, and presto, great coffee in an instant. However, the Nespresso comes with its disadvantages too. It’s built to work only using Nestlé’s proprietary disposable pods, which are expensive, impossible to customize, and terrible for the environment.

In comes the Capsulier Lite, with its super-hero sounding name, because it quite literally saves the planet and your wallet together. The Capsulier lets you create your own coffee pods, rather than rely on store-bought ones. The machine comes with reusable stainless steel pods that you can simply fill with your own blend of coffee, even throwing spices or aromatics in to craft your personal custom blends. All you have to do is simply pour your crafted brew into the Capsulier’s upper compartment and pull on the lever on the side. The Capsulier fills the stainless steel pod (or the Capsi) with a leveled dose of your brew. The pod can then be used with a Nespresso machine, giving you your instant fix of coffee at the push of a button.

The Capsi can be used with not just coffee but tea too, allowing you to brew specially crafted cups of tea too, and it works out 7 times cheaper than a store-bought Nespresso pod. The pods can be washed and reused infinitely too, so they don’t clog the planet with more waste than necessary. And with the ability to literally play barista by crafting your own unique brews, it’s quite literally a win for everyone!

A Nespresso that Knows You

nespresso_01

What do you do when you first get to work in the morning? For most of us, it’s not starting up our computers or looking at our meeting schedules, rather, we head straight for the company coffee machine. I know this is especially true for me. Don’t even LOOK at me unless I’ve had my first sip. Designed with this sentiment in mind, Marmik Patel’s Nespresso concept gets to know each and every individual in the office and tailor makes their perfect cuppa joe every day.

It works in tandem with a smartphone app where users can input their favorite flavors and espresso styles. You can create a customized cup of coffee from the comfort of your desk or even when you’re on your way to work! Skip the line because, in seconds, a piping hot picker-upper will be waiting for you just the way you like it!

No Frills Nespresso

A part of Nespresso’s appeal is it’s super-simplified process, so why are many of the machines so complex? CUP reflects the original minimalism of the brand with straightforward aesthetics and functionality. No double or single buttons, no built-in trash bin, no space for big cups or extras…. simply take a capsule place it into the lid, turn it manually into the classic bayonet catch and a preset 25mg of water will dissolve the 5mg into your espresso. No more, no less! Just Nespresso!

Nespresso Vertuo Line Now Makes American Style Cup Of Joe

Nespresso_VertuoLine

Nespresso machines make some pretty delicious espresso, but if you’re the kind that likes to drink their coffee in industrial quantities, American-style, then these toys aren’t for you. That’s until now, since the company’s new Vertuo line is also able to churn out an 8 oz. cup of coffee in addition to its traditional 1.35 oz. shots. Sure, 8oz. doesn’t even come close to a Starbuck Venti, but this is sure to become a welcome addition nonetheless. It’s $300.
