Flip-Flobsters Are Lobsters You Wear on Your Feet

Perfect for any occasion (especially formal ones), Flip Flobsters are lobster-inspired slides made in the likeness of the large crustaceans. The unisex footwear is available on Amazon in three colors (green, orange, and fully-steamed red), and comes in six different sizes to ensure everybody who wants to wear lobster sandals, can. It probably goes without saying, but I already ordered a pair in each color before I even started writing this.

There’s no question these will be a hit at any summer cookout, particularly if it’s a seafood cookout. Guests will probably be talking about your Flip Flobsters for weeks! At least that’s what I hope they’ll be talking about, and not how I accidentally set myself on fire being overzealous with the lighter fluid.

Couple the sandals with a pair of lobster claw-inspired grilling mitts, and you’re the total package! The total package being someone who’s becoming an actual lobster, just so we’re clear. Just add some antennas and a tail and I’ll start melting the butter!

Coddies Fish Flops: Slide Sandals That Look Like Realistic Fish

Are you looking for some footwear to really stand out? Something to let people know you march to the beat of a different drum, one that might only exist in your own head? Well you’re in luck, because Coddie Fish Flops are slide sandals that look like realistic fish. Now I’ll have an excuse when my wife asks why my feet stink! Just not a very good excuse.

Available in a variety of colors (green, blue, orange, silver, pink), the $24 sandals come in all sizes from toddler to men’s 14 – 15, so you have no excuse to not buy some for the whole family. You’ll be the talk of the beach! Hey, did you see that family all wearing fish sandals? Now they just need to make matching hats.

I just bought a pair for both my wife and me, and I love them. She… she hasn’t tried hers on yet. As a matter of fact, she accidentally threw them away, but I was lucky to spot them when I was taking the trash out. Talk about a close call. I can’t wait to wear them to Red Lobster together on our next date night.

This Nike X Crocs collaborative concept doesn’t seem so absurd in 2020

One is literally the biggest sports apparel company in the world, and the other is a viral sensation turned into a fashion faux-pas. It’s unlikely that Nike and Crocs would ever collaborate just because it’s perhaps one of the unholiest of unions, but let’s take a second to appreciate this conceptual ‘what-if’ product from the mind of Kegan McDaniel.

Say hello to probably the most bizarre shoe collab in history. This pair of Nike Air-Jordans X Crocs collaborative clogs surely will make you feel a bunch of things, including, hopefully, a second reckoning. While the idea of footwear co-created by Nike, Jordan, and Crocs may sound absurd at first, these clogs honestly don’t look all that bad. I mean hey, I’d wear them… probably.

The shoes come in the distinctive single-piece design that’s archetypal with the Crocs brand, with a silhouette that seems familiar too. Its details, however, borrow influences directly from the Air Jordan 1, with a perforated toebox and that iconic swoosh that wraps around the back of your foot, becoming the heel-strap.

Honestly, the Nike X Crocs footwear are a bit of an acquired taste. They’ll almost definitely evoke a negative reaction at first sight (sort of like looking at the Yeezy flip flops for the first time), but after a while you’ll definitely warm up to the idea them. After all, it’s 2020. Weirder things have happened.

Designer: Kegan McDaniel

This design is purely a conceptual piece of work and isn’t affiliated with the Nike, Air Jordans, or the Crocs brand in any way.

One shoe that fits from childhood to adulthood

It took just one instance in Kenya, in 2007, when Kenton Lee noticed that a little girl in a white dress next to him had shoes that were way too small for her feet. That one instance set him on the path to creating The Shoe That Grows, a low-cost-high-lifetime shoe that expands up to five sizes and lasts for over five years, for underprivileged children around the world… and helped mold the philosophy behind his non-profit organization Because International, with the aim of “making things better by making better things.”

Kids grow fast, which means they outgrow their clothes and shoes rapidly too… forcing low-income-family children to either wear shoes even after they stop fitting, or walk around barefoot. On a mission to make one shoe that lasts through this growth process, Kenton launched The Shoe That Grows, an innovative piece of footwear that expands to fit children as they grow with age (much like the Petit Pli clothes that expand in size).

Ill-fitted shoes are uncomfortable, but walking barefoot leaves children vulnerable to soil-transmitted diseases and parasites that can cause illness and even death, aside from the cuts, burns, and blisters. The Shoe That Grows combats the unfortunate scenario where children outgrow their footwear by being the one pair of footwear that grows with them. Extending at the front, sides, and the back, the sandals work simply like a belt would… expanding with size and necessity. With a tough, compressed-rubber sole, leather body, and durable metal clips, the sandals boast of high-quality, high-durability, but low-cost materials to provide one solution that accommodates expansion up to 5 sizes and lasts for years, even under rough conditions. Available to own and/or even distribute, Because International lets you not just experience the expanding sandals (or expandals!) first-hand but also fundraise and be a part of their noble undertaking. Go ahead… put your best foot forward!

These Flip Flops Make You Feel Like You’re Walking on Grass All Day Long

So you’re going to be walking around the beach this Summer. While you might like the feeling of sand between your toes, maybe you prefer the sensation of grass instead. Well, the guys over at Generate have got your tootsies covered.

Kusa Grass Flip Flops were designed by Yashin, and look just like you’re walking around on grass. They’re made from synthetic turf and not real grass, but I can’t imagine that the real thing would last long stuffed under your sweaty feet all the time.

Never mind the fact that they’d be a pain to water and mow. And who wants weeds growing between their toes anyhow?

If you want to feel the grass beneath your feet, then stomp on over to Generate, where you can grab a pair of Grass Flip Flops for $49(USD).

What could be better than walking on grass everywhere you go? Kusa Flip Flops give you that feeling anytime, anywhere. Now obviously using real grass wouldn’t last very long (and would probably turn your feet green after a while) and would be impractical with the whole watering thing, so these sandals use a thick layer of syn-turf to give a grass-like feeling.

The “grass” conforms to and contours around the shape of your feet to give you a soft cushy feeling. These flip flops were designed by Yashin for Kusa. You’ll never have to mow them, although you might need to occasionally fluff them up a bit.

Stop Walking on Sunshine; Walk on Keyboards Instead!

Computers are pretty much useless without the keyboard. If you didn’t have anything to type stuff to input, then you can’t really expect any output, right? As homage to one of the most key pieces of the computer (pun intended), some people thought that it would be mighty clever to make Flip-Flops in their honor. The result are these Keyboard Sandals.

You can’t actually type on them, although they can function as a rubbery massager to sooth and relax your tired feet.

They were originally designed by a Thailand-based rubber shoes company called Kito, and they were selling for about $30 a pair. Now a cheap knock-off of the design has wormed its way into China, where they’re currently being sold for cheap at 7.8 yuan (USD$1.23) a pair on Taobao. Of course you do have to figure out how to read Chinese to buy them.
