Silicone finger grips in this snack box ensures your kids can eat without a mess!

Monchi is a compressible snack box with a silicone lid that comes with integrated finger grips for kids to eat with their hands without making a mess.

There are only two types of people in the world: the ones who lick their fingers after a meal, and the ones who look for the nearest sink. While I fall into the latter category, the urge to eat with my hands is real. Finger foods like cookies and fries have always been a crowd favorite, but they’re messy too.

Monchi, a hygienic silicone-based snack box, developed by A Nus Design Studio features built-in finger grips so you can eat with your hands without the mess.

Tailored for children aged three and up, Monchi is as parent-friendly as it is kid-friendly. Featuring a flexible, silicone lid, the integrated finger grips stretch to fit hands and fingers of all sizes.

Just beneath the silicone lid, Monchi has a leak-proof and airtight food container that holds snack-sized items for kids to enjoy anywhere. From picnics to school lunches, Monchi packs some fun into eating so kids will never skip their veggies.

Once snack time is over, Monchi’s silicone build allows for easy cleanup. Compressible by design, the food container can shrink in size to fit into small storage spaces, even your front pocket.

The finger-grip lid allows users to slip their fingers into each slot, allowing free range of motion to pick up food items inside the container. Constructed from food-grade silicone and polypropylene plastic, Monchi is BPA-free and made from materials that are safe for kids of all ages to be around.

Even below the lid, Monchi’s design is fun for kids to play with.

Following an involved ideation process, Monchi reached its final form.

This packaging design’s innovative and simple form lets you eat snacks fuss-free!

Who avoids eating pistachios because of the mess the shells create? Well, we might just be in luck because ÖLOBOX was designed with a pocket for shells inside the packaging itself which allows you to eat snacks like pistachios anywhere! The origami-inspired packaging design is meant for snacks that need shelling before eating. The husks section is inside and opens after the pack is opened. When you finish eating, simply close the pack with shells and discard it responsibly.

ÖLOBOX aims to encourage a new culture of healthy snacking and an attentive attitude that takes into account how we interact with the packaging, if it makes snacking easier, what happens to the packaging after the snack is done, and more. When we choose our snack it is also important to start taking note of the waste it generates. “First of all, it’s very important to tell the customer how to use the new package. We have found inspiration in the symbol of recycling. The main idea of the design of ÖLOBOX’s pack is based on the instruction there with the arrows being the key elements. They show the sequence of actions for the consumer: 1-2-3,” says Olkas Voron as her packaging design focuses on making the experience easy.

At Yanko Design, we are obsessed with innovative packaging so we put this one on our Instagram to let our audience react and discuss. There were a lot of insightful comments pointing out things that could actually make ÖLOBOX a whole lot better, for example, many readers recommended a shape that could also stand on its own because snacks like pistachios require you to use both hands and the cone form makes that hard to do. Environmentally conscious readers would love to see the plastic element being replaced or even taken out completely to reduce waste and make the entire packaging recyclable. However, ÖLOBOX is a step in the right direction and all we can say is SHELL YEAH!

Welcome to The Cheetosphere

Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve had a tendency to play with my food. I remember cobbling together all kinds of gross concoctions at the table whenever we went out to eat, and occasionally stacking food items like Lincoln Logs to create edible towers. Yet, despite all of my efforts, I never achieved the greatness of The Cheetosphere.

Artist Sam Keller figured out that if you have the properly curved Cheetos, you can assemble them into a nearly perfect orb. It looks like each orange snack covers a 120-degree arc, so gluing three of them together forms a circle. Then by arranging and attaching the Cheeto circles together with other individual Cheetos, you can make a sphere. I’m guessing that a balloon might have been involved here in order to provide an inner form for the structure.

However Sam made it, the Cheetosphere is a true work of art, and belongs in a modern art museum alongside the works of Jeff Koons and other contemporary masters. Heck, he could turn it into a performance art piece, where someone walks into the room and nibbles on the sphere until it’s all gone, while Sam cranks out another masterpiece for the next show.

Sam also made a smaller and simpler Cheetosphere, which I came across thanks to Pee-Wee Herman:

This isn’t the only time Sam created a snack food sculpture. At the same time, he made the Doritosphere

First There Was TriceraTACO… Then There Was NACHOsaurus

A while back, we checked out a silly triceratops that doubled as a taco holder. The same company would go on to create TACOsaurus Rex, and now we have the NACHOsaurus. Inspired by the spiny-backed herbivore known as the stegosaurus.

Instead of bony plates along its back, the NACHOsaurus has a spot there for you to fill with snacks. Ideally, you’d use tortilla chips for the proper effect, though this guy is happy to hold crackers, pretzels, nuts, or even french fries on his back. The food-safe plastic snack set also comes with a two-compartment dip bowl which looks like something Dino would have eaten out of The Flintstones.

The NACHOsaurs snack and dip set is just $14.99 over on Amazon, where you can also find TACOsaurus Rex and TriceraTACO for the same price.

Pringles Making Rick and Morty Pickle Rick Flavor Chips

When Rick Sanchez first turned himself into a pickle, things didn’t go very well. But eventually, when he put his immobile body into a rat-based exoskeleton, at least he was able to get himself around. Now you can enjoy the flavor of Pickle Rick in your very own mouth, courtesy of Pringles.

From the image above, they just look like regular Pringles. I was hoping they’d figure out a way to spray them with edible dye and make them look like portals. Also, given that Rick has pickled himself with large quantities of cheap booze, not vinegar and seasonings, I’m not sure I’d want to taste actual Pickle Rick. However, Pringles’ version should capture the salty and sour flavor we’ve come to expect from deli pickles, and not that of a disgruntled and hostile multidimensional traveler.

Those looking to taste Pickle Rick’s Pringles should keep an eye on shelves around Super Bowl time in February 2020, which is when the brand plans on running a special commercial featuring Rick and Morty and their new chips.

Zoku Space Pop Molds with Rockets and Astronaut,6 pops

Ground control to Major Tom. These ice pop molds have a space theme which makes them pretty stellar. I love that there are a variety of shapes in this pack, so everyone will find their favorite.

Tovolo Rocket Pop Mold, Orange – Set of 6

Rockets! That’s rockin’ am I right? Besides the awesome shape, I just love the color of these molds. That bright orange really pops, perfect for an ice pop, and they probably won’t get lost in your kitchen.

Tovolo Robot Pop Molds – Set of 4

We’ve seen a couple of space themes, now how about a robot theme? I can imagine these molds would be a huge hit at a child’s birthday party. (Or an adult’s, who am I to judge?)

Star Wars Lightsaber Ice Pop Maker by ThinkGeek

My favorite on this list, not only because I’m a big Star Wars fan, but because of the lightsaber handles. When you actually make the ice pop, you end up with an edible lightsaber! If that’s not the coolest thing ever, I don’t know what is. Even if you’re not a Star Wars fan, you’ve got to admit these ice pop molds are the best in the galaxy.

NUOP Swordsicles

Wow, so many creative ice pop molds. Why didn’t my mom have any of these when I was a kid? Anyway, these molds are shaped like swords! Perfect for a pirate party, probably not perfect for an elementary school party. (You know how schools are crazy about anything that even looks like a weapon.)

Mastrad A47221 Ice Pop Molds, White Base

Aww, these molds are adorable. I love the swirlyness. Is swirlyness a word? Swirliness? Whatever, these are just the cutest and I can’t get over it.

Lekue 4 Unit Stackable Ice Lollipop Mold

So these might be the most ordinary ice pop molds on the list, but that doesn’t mean they’re not just as fun! They’re stackable, which is a great space saver for all of you who like to hoard kitchen supplies. Believe me, if I was rich, my kitchen would be filled to the brim with stuff. I’d probably have a collection of owl salt shakers or something.

Popsicle Molds Set –  6 Ice Pop Makers by Lebice

These ice pop molds remind me of watermelon, which is probably the point. They’re darling and definitely put me in a summer mood. Anyone up for a watermelon flavored ice pop?

Guitar Ice Cream Popiscle

These molds are rocking and rolling. For the rock star within you, these would be great for a party or an outdoor summer concert. I’d love to lay out a picnic blanket and listen to some great music while eating some great guitar-shaped ice pops.

Cuisipro Sailboat Pop Mold – 837440 by Cuisipro

I’ll admit, I’ve never been on a sailboat. They look kind of boring, since they’re pretty slow. I’m more of a speed boat kind of girl, but sail boats are far cuter than speed boats. And I imagine there’s something calm and relaxing about sitting on a sail boat while a cool breeze dances around you… Ah, I’m falling asleep now. Give me an ice pop to stay awake!

Did you find the ice pop mold of your dreams? I know I did! Star Wars ice pop mold, I’m coming for you! (And maybe the rest too.) I hope you eat lots of ice pops and have the best summer ever.

Sake-flavored Kit Kats: Drunk on Chocolate

Japan is home to all manner of strange snacks. I can only assume that the Japanese love Kit Kats most of all. After all, they even wrap Kit Kats in gold leaf, and have an entire store dedicated to special Kit Kat flavors.

Japan is set to get another weird flavor for Kit Kats, and this time they will taste like sake. The only thing I know about sake is that when I go to the local hibachi place, someone always orders it and it comes in a cool little ceramic beaker they leave sitting on the grill to keep it warm.

The sake Kats landed yesterday, and have sake powder between the chocolate and wafers. These snacks even have 0.8% alcohol in them, which means you can literally get drunk on chocolate if you eat enough of them. Also, it’s probably not a good idea to feed these to your kids.

McDonald’s Makes Chocolate-covered French Fries in Japan

As far as I’m concerned, this side of a few breakfast items, the only thing at McDonald’s that isn’t gross and crappy tasting are the fries. I’d go so far as to say that McDonald’s has the best fries anywhere. In Japan, they have done something that sounds gross, but those who have tried them say taste good.

chocolate-frieszoom in

They have drizzled their famous fries with chocolate sauce of the white and milk varieties. The snack is called McFry Potato Chocolate Sauce.

They will set you back 330 yen or about $2.79(USD) – only a bit more than normal medium fries. If you like mixing salty and sweet in one, this might be just the ticket for you. I’m a food segregationist, so I’ll pass.

Strawberry Shortcake Potato Chips Hit Japan

Japan doesn’t have a strangle hold on weird snacks, Lay’s has some oddly flavored chips here in the U.S. as well. However, Japan does have snack oddities like the gold leaf Kit Kat bar, and now Japanese snackers can get potato chips that taste like dessert. Because, why not?

strawberry_potato_chip_1zoom in

These chips are made to taste like strawberry shortcake. They’re made with a Japanese strawberry called the Tochiotome, which is said to be particularly sweet.

strawberry-chipszoom in

The reasoning behind these chips is that during Christmastime in Japan, strawberry cake is a common treat. The chips are said to taste very much like strawberries and shortcake, which sounds rather odd mixed with a salty chip.

Snack Packs for Snack Attacks

Snack Packs are a snackers best bet for keeping two snacktime favorites together. The first is a jacket for your banana that keeps its contents and other items in your bag protected in the event of a smash! The other is a silicone snap band that wraps around yogurt containers to keep the lid closed and a spoon handy. Each is made of flexible, washable silicone so you can easily wrap them up and clean after use!
