Japanese artist Tanaka Tatsuya twists everyday products in these Star Wars-inspired miniature setups!

May the fourth is the official day we get to unleash our inner geek squad – be it our figurines, shirts, or any of the gazillion collectibles Star Wars has launched over the years, it’s a day to bring your geek out and be proud! Most of us will do this by bringing out our favorite character (baby Yoda ears on their dog anyone?), but we have someone here who is sure to inspire you. Meet Tanaka Tatsuya, a Japanese artist who takes the entire collectibles setup to a whole new level with his elaborate scene recreations that feature prominent scenes from the series. From simple yet humble eggshells to using a marker, Tanaka-san’s ability to see things from a different perspective makes this entire collection a delight that will leave you in awe. May the force be with you and keep your shields up as we battle this pandemic. Happy Star Wars Day from everyone at Yanko Design!

Pixar’s Toy Story is one of my favorite movies ever for the sheer idea that appealed to everyone across the ages – our toys coming to life and ruling our place! This scene by Tanaka-san brings to mind the same atmosphere, where the bag opens up at night to unveil the heroic, light-saber-filled fight. Don’t miss out on R2D2 crawling out to influence the fight! The next time you open your bag, do keep a look for spare toys that wandered in during the night!

An action-packed sequence unfolds over the closely packed keyboard keys, who watch in tense silence, as the X-wing gets a furious chase! Afterall is there even a story if there are no spectators to watch it? The retro keycaps bring to mind a concrete cityscape that rises above the planet keyboard.

X-Wing fighter gets a creative outlook with this paper binder clip! Repair this ship and get ready as the galaxy awaits for you to step up and unleash the force!

Is that a stormtrooper lost in the sea of broccoli? Will they find a way out, or will they come across a Jedi – only Tanaka-san can tell us about it!

Lightsabers are so passe, especially compared to Pocky! Japan’s iconic snack is a biscuit stick covered with a unique coating. Starting with the basic chocolate to the adventurous almond crunch, there is a pocky here for every mood!

Things are sure to get heated up when Obi-wan faces off with Luke across the scorching barbeque plains!

A humble comb gets a new life as the desert backdrop with a Luke flying Lanspeeder across the teeth dunes!

Taking Toy Story to the next level, Darth Vader and his cronies step out of your laptop to attack you!

The adorable Baby Yoda/Grogu who swept us off our feet is back, this time in an even more adorable pistachio shell asking the Mandalorian for a helping hand.

Star Wars-inspired designs for May the 4th we wish Disney would make already!

Every year, the 4th of May is celebrated as Star Wars Day! It’s a day widely celebrated by nerds, sci-fi fans, and movie buffs in honor of the iconic series. On this exciting day, you can nerd out, and show off your love for Star Wars, without any judgment. And we’re here to help you! We’ve curated a collection of super cool Star Wars-inspired product designs for this very special day. These concepts capture the true essence of the phenomenon that is Star Wars. May the Fourth be with you! Enjoy.

Tamás Jakus’ Equus Kylo bike celebrates the malevolent dark force that is Kylo Ren. The bike comes in a signature black paint job complete with Kylo Ren’s ‘logo’ on the side of the vehicle between two wheels, and a headlight that looks directly inspired by Ren’s own helmet. Just like the helmet, the bike’s headlight sports multiple chrome strips that travel horizontally before extending down the sides, giving the bike its signature piercing glare… and if that wasn’t enough, there’s even an illuminated red bird logo on the side that looks like a wonderful abstraction of Kylo Ren’s lightsaber.

Although one wouldn’t imagine Lord Commander Vader to drive around the Death Star in one of these vehicles (keen Star Wars fans would even point out that none of the vehicles in Star Wars even have tires, to begin with), this Custom 60′ Porsche 356 RSR seems to perfectly capture Darth Vader’s inner spirit, with its matte-black bodywork and Vader-esque trims on the front as well as the back. The Vadermobile (sounds like an apt name, no?) was the result of a 4-year project of reimagining a Porsche 1960 356B T5 coupe, by adding a hand-formed removable aluminum tail and nose details that take heavy inspiration from the Dark Lord’s black suit, along with a one-piece aluminum hood with an oil cooler air outlet, and stainless mesh grills for the cooling ducts, giving the car it’s signature dark-side appeal. The car’s paint job is bespoke too, a matte finish that Emory calls Meteorite Matte Metallic.

Sourcing his inspiration from sci-fi movies like Star Wars, Alex Casabò conceptualized in 3D, his own interpretation of what he calls, a “really fast sci-fi SSD,” bringing a traditional SSD and taking it to new heights, perhaps even new galaxies, with a distinct, rugged exterior and lightning-fast drive. Casabò’s SSD concept looks lived-in like it’s headed straight for Crait. SSDs, which rely on flash memory to keep things moving and storage processed, are known for their low read-access time and fast throughputs. Conversely, other storage devices like hard disks store a computer’s memory on mechanical hard drives and generally move a lot slower. Opting for a more futuristic, cyberpunk aesthetic for his digital SSD conceptualization makes sense since faster speeds indicate technological advancements and go hand in hand with a future world that might look eerily familiar to sci-fi films we grew up watching.

Brazilian designer Vinicius Gasparete has given all of us fans the collectible watch of our dreams, or maybe this is what lightsabers look like in 2020? Let’s be real, no one can keep a track of time in quarantine so a watch is truly mightier than a saber right now. Gasparete designed this incredible G-Shock as a part of a challenge in the course he was taking at the Vida de Motion School. The concept is well-aligned with the global brand known for its sporty, masculine aesthetic built on its ethos of ‘absolute toughness’. But it pays equal homage to the details and elements of the Star Wars universe. This G-Shock balances both sides with a mastery that makes you believe that it is powered by the force (and maybe it is?).

The Alhazen lamp is a play on the Lightsaber and uses acrylic optics to disperse light, much like most lightsaber toys and prototypes do. Designed by Saif Faisal who wanted a lamp that was both cool and practical at the same time, the Alhazen takes the lightsaber and changes a few key details to make it look like a prop from Star Wars, but also have a character of its own. The lamp is made from a wooden base that holds the lighting element, and the lighting element itself, comprising a handle, a hollow acrylic tube with an LED strip, and an acrylic plug that sits on the top. Switch the LEDs on and the frosted acrylic diffuses them, while its edge-lighting properties allow it to glow from top to bottom as a lightsaber does.

Nadeem Hussain, a United Kingdom-based designer, recently rendered a smart assistant robot that was inspired by BB-8 from Star Wars for Render Weekly’s Instagram showcase. Sometimes the most eye-catching designs find their inspiration from well-known film and television characters. If the designer channels their inspiration well, then the final product won’t be a spitting image of that character, but a gentle reminder of how art forms are inherently interconnected. When design feels inspired by something as iconic as Star Wars, the tricky part doesn’t have to do with imitating the franchise’s original creativity, but with evoking a feeling of familiarity. Hussain’s render of a new smart assistant is as charming and functional as Star Wars’ BB-8 robot but resembles a futuristic robot that might reside elsewhere in the intergalactic universe.

The world is going Star Wars crazy this year, and they have every reason to be. With the franchise getting better and better, it’s no surprise that we keep getting an excitingly diverse range of Star Wars-inspired goodies – this one in the form of Animal Stormtrooper Helmets by William Kang. Gorgeously fabricated, the helmets are given a rigorous process from sketches to CAD to quick renders, to sketches to CAD to quick renders, and again until the design is ready to be physically constructed. Each helmet can take a couple of months to make but so delicately and intricately detailed it’s hard to believe these helmets are not renders. The materials and finishing choices here make these helmets a work of art, something worthy of a museum piece.

With the title of the Stormtrooper Clock, Guillaume Saussey’s timepiece design is simple both in color and in form. With the classic black and white Stormtrooper aesthetic from Star Wars, the clock uses black-on-white contrast to create dynamism, while keeping the clock’s working foolishly simple… much like the troopers themselves. To complete the Stormtrooper aesthetic, the clock even has a logo on the back inspired by the Stormtrooper uniform! The way the clock works is rather simple too. Three circles at the 3 o’clock position denote the time by displaying the hour, minute, and second values accordingly. Numbered discs on the inside rotate as time progresses, while the circular holes on the clock’s face give you a clear indication of the time.

50% impossible, 50% real vehicle, and 100% awesomeness, the Apocalyptic Vehicle series by Jomar Machado gives us a taste of what our rides would look like if the world collapsed into collective chaos. An early adopter of 3D modeling (back in 1994), Machado became a master of his craft. His love for the art and production of films like Star Trek, Stars Wars, Babylon 5, Dune, and Blade Runner helped him develop a distinct style, something very evident from his current work. The vehicles below (and above) combine real cars with impossible technology and military-grade weapons to give us something that looks right out of Death Race, or Carmageddon, or Mad Max (but less dusty).

Sometimes I see conceptual designs and I want them so bad, fully knowing they don’t exist. The Star Wars lamps by Eyal Rosenthal are conceptual lamps inspired by our favorite Star Wars characters. These were originally launched as an April Fool’s prank, but ever since then, Eyal has been bombarded with requests from people who desperately want to buy these geeky/cool lamps.

16 Beautifully Crafted Star Wars Cakes To Celebrate 2017 Star Wars Day

May the 4th be with you! For some Star Wars geeks, there is a certain fascination about owning things related to the epic saga that is Star Wars — whether it be a display or an item for day-to-day use. But some geeks have gone far beyond buying items to creating their own. Some people even found some good kind of fun in creating their own Star Wars themed cake for themselves, for a friend or a family member. Some even tried to sell with a celebrator-requested design.

Today is May the 4th 2017, a.k.s Star Wars Day and these 16 amazing Star Wars cake creations are absolutely the best way to celebrate this awesome day!

Yes, a cake. And you won’t believe how far these designs could go. Here are some of them:

1) Star Wars Death Star Cake

Image via: CakeCentral

Can a cake get any more detailed than this – a cake designed to look like a Death Star. Perfect for a Star Wars geek, this cake has very intricate details, displaying tons of panels with conduits and LED lights to copy the Death Star! So beautiful, it would be heartbreaking to cut this cake into pieces!

2) Darth Vader Cake

Image via: CakeCentral

A perfect match to a Death Star cake, is this cake that’s sculpted to Darth Vader’s head. You can’t just deny that it’s well made, too. If you plan on making something like this, just remind your guests that this one’s for their tummies and not for their heads.

3) Stormtrooper Cake

The cakes from the dark side continue with this Stormtrooper cake, showing, well, no less than a standing Stormtrooper that’s ready for battle.

4) Stormtroopers x Lightsaber Cake

And here are more Stormtroopers to join the battle. These are cupcakes topped with a huge marshmallow to look like Stormtrooper heads, plus more cupcakes joined together to form lightsabers. It’s just too cute, I think!

5) Millennial Falcon Cake

Not into the dark side? Then, this cake’s for you. One creative and talented baker tries to make a neat miniature of the Millennial Falcon. Do you want this to land in your kitchen, too? I do!

6) Star Destroyer Cake

Image via: Cakes and Cupcakes Mumbai

Joining the Imperial army’s battle is the Star Destroyer. That also looks like a really big slice of cake.

7) AT-AT Walker Cake

Image via: Manchester Evening News

I already thought that the idea of making a cake that looked like the warships in Star Wars is insane. But someone has taken the Star Wars challenge and proved to be something. This cake showed no signs that it’s a cake and looks more like a miniature AT-AT walker display! But it is a cake that has gotten acclaims from Star Wars geeks and renowned bakers alike. I wonder how they sliced the cake though.

8) Star Wars tiered cake

Image via: cakestoday

Here’s one that looks more like a cake but in a fascinating way. Why? See, the layers are beautifully etched with Star Wars characters and there’s even a Death Star as a bonus on top!

9) R2-D2 Cake

Image via: foodiggity

We all love Star Wars robots, right?  Who doesn’t love R2-D2? For all of us who were entertained by this robot, here’s an R2-D2 cake that’s almost close to a life-size figure. Just don’t expect it to move around and fix your technical glitches.

10) BB-8 Star Wars Cake

Or do you want to get a BB-8 Droid design for a cake perhaps?

Our dear master Jedi Yoda is ready for battle against the dark force. This is what this cake suggests. And look at the cake’s color that gives the galaxy feel. The makes of this cake did not just try it, he nailed it, I think.

12) Yoda X Millennium Falcon Cake

In a similar looking cake, how about Yoda with the Millennium Falcon? Also a good idea, right?

13) Blue Star Wars Tiered Cake with Glowing Lightsaber

Image via: C.J. Bowles

Here’s another take at galaxy X Star Wars feels: a three-tiered cake that just displays perfect-looking Star Wars characters, it almost looks like a photograph of them. As a bonus, there are glowing lightsabers protruding out of the cake!

14) May The Force Be With You Cake

Image via: Cake Talk Blogger

Obi-Wan, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo with Chewbacca have come together to fight the dark force. So this cake shows. If you plan to make your own Star Wars-themed cake and lack the creative prowess to sculpt the characters into the cake itself, you can also use inedible Star wars figurines to top your cake!

15) Fun Lego Star Wars Cake

Image via: diyready.com

Having the LEGO miniatures is another option. Or make edible versions that look exactly like the LEGO ones, just like the maker of this cake did!

16) Pink Tiered Star Wars Cake

Image via: Pinterest

This one’s for the little girls that love Star Wars: a pastel pink tiered cake that has fondant designs of the Star Wars characters. I personally think that the way the characters were made to look like little boys and girls is cute!

The AT-AT Shirt

Something a bit different. Because it’s an AT-AT, but also because it’s a shirt with a question on it, instead of a statement. But the Pew Pew is what really makes it a must-have shirt.

Babies deserve to celebrate May the Fourth day too. And Yoda kinda looks like a baby too. Get it here
