This Wearable Cooler Straps Around Your Waist and uses Phase Change Materials to Keep You Cool

While Dyson is out there selling air-purifying headphones, the guys at Torras are quite literally doing god’s work. After building an entire series of neck-worn air conditioners, the folks at Torras are back with the Coolify Zone, a waist-worn cooler that uses a combination of fans and PCMs (phase change materials) to rapidly cool your body down by as much as 18°F. Powered by an internal motor capable of 1000RPM, the Coolify Zone blows cool air upwards to your torso, while absorbing heat from your waist. Mimicking the effect of having an AC blowing cool breeze on you, the Coolify Zone works for as long as 15 hours on a single charge cycle, helping you stay cool outdoors while you’re jogging, doing yoga, dancing, camping, fishing, or just trying to experience nature while simultaneously trying to beat the heat.

The Coolify Zone works like your own personal air conditioner that’s strapped to your waist, cooling your torso and effectively your entire body. Two high-speed centrifugal fans push air upwards, while the phase change material built into the Coolify Zone helps chill the air, doing exactly what an air conditioner does, but with much more energy efficiency. The PCM also absorbs heat from your body, cooling you down much faster and more effectively than just a fan would.

You can toggle between different modes to adjust the cooling intensity on your Coolify Zone. A built-in 4000mAh battery gives the wearable anywhere between 5-15 hours of run-time, lasting long enough to cover your daily jog, a long trek, or a walk in the summers. The device charges via USB-C too, working with all conventional power banks or even your Android charger.

The one catch to the Coolify Zone is that it works best under clothing. Wear it under a tee or a tank top, and the fabric of the garment helps contain the air from the fan, giving you its maximum effect. You could wear the Coolify Zone without a shirt or with a sports bra if you’re a woman, but you risk the chance of wind from the fan blowing in other directions too. An outer garment helps best with containing the breeze, cooling you to the best of its ability. If you want to feel even cooler, just pair the Coolify Zone with one of Torras’ neck-worn devices like the Coolify 2S, which uses semiconductor cooling plates, and you’ll be cooler than an iced latte!

The Coolify Zone starts at a mere $101 (that’s approx 89% cheaper than the Dyson Zone), and comes with an adjustable belt strap, a touchpad to control intensity, and a standby button to power on/off your device. The Torras Coolify Zone ships with a 30-day return policy, a 180-day limited warranty, and lifetime support for any issues or troubleshooting.

Sony’s wearable, pocket-sized air conditioner is finally available for sale!

Summer is not for everyone – sure it is nice when you are at the beach but is it nice to feel like you are being roasted like a turkey when its not Thanksgiving? I personally thrive in the snow but keeping on brand with being unprecedented like 2020, I have found myself in lockdown in India which means I am currently dealing with a hot, humid, tropical climate and it feels like I am an iPhone on 1% battery. What people like me need is Sony’s Reon Pocket air conditioner, which is FINALLY on sale, to keep us cool, calm, and collected!

A portable, wearable, air conditioner is no more a thing of futuristic tv shows. The Reon Pocket is a smartphone-controlled personal gadget that was designed to be compact and cool. It works using thermoelectric cooling and can cool the user’s body temperature by 13 degrees celsius (23 degrees Fahrenheit) and raise your temperature by about 8 degrees Celsius (about 14 degrees Fahrenheit). Reon sits on the base of your neck in a special undershirt designed for it. It uses the Peltier effect which means a temperature difference is created by applying a voltage between two electrodes connected to a sample of semiconductor material. The heat is absorbed or emitted when you pass an electrical current across a junction to either lower your temperature or increase it without bulk or noise.

It is sleek, minimal and comfortable as a piece of wearable tech. Like any smart device of our times, Reon’s functions can be controlled via Bluetooth. Set to the desired temperature using the mobile app which also features an automatic mode. It only weighs 85 grams and can be charged with the common USB-C port. The only downside is that the battery lasts for just two hours on a single charge but that is enough time for you to run all errands or enjoy a picnic before you start to melt.

Literally the ‘coolest’ wearable!

Scroll below and you’ll see a product, and then just pictures of people enjoying themselves. What’s happening?! You’ll ask… Well, look a little closer and you’ll see that everybody in those pictures has a tiny blö attached to them. It’s small (perhaps the size of an asthma inhaler) and virtually unnoticeable on your person, but it does something no wearable does.

The blö is the world’s first and smallest wearable cooling device. It draws air from the honeycomb-patterned outlet on the top, passing it over peppermint essential oils, and pushes the air out the bottom, allowing your skin to feel cool and stay comfortable. Its design easily lets it be worn over gym clothes, or even your regular apparel, keeping you on top of the weather even when it’s sweltering outside. The blö can be plugged near your chest, upper back, or even lower back to ensure you don’t have those sweaty patches, while making sure the heat never gets to you.

Leveraging the power of essential oils and aromatherapy, the blö may seem like a seasonal device, but it’s quite the opposite. In the monsoons or the winters, switch the peppermint for lemongrass or citronella and you’ve got a device that repels mosquitos! The blö can run for 4-8 hours, depending on the speed, and charges within an hour and a half, via MicroUSB. Pretty ‘cool’, isn’t it?
