How to pre-order the new Google Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold

Google launched a slew of new Pixel devices at its latest Made by Google event on Tuesday, including four Pixel 9 smartphones, the Pixel Watch 3 smartwatch and an updated set of wireless Pixel Buds earbuds. We have details on all of the new devices spread out across Engadget, but if you’re already interested in picking one up, we’ve broken down what’s new and laid out your current purchasing options below. Most people should hold off on buying until we’ve given everything a full review, to be clear, but we did regard many of these devices’ predecessors highly — the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro were top picks in our guide to the best smartphones, for instance, while the older Pixel Buds Pro made our wireless earbuds buying guide.

Catch up on all the news from Google’s Pixel 9 launch event right here!

The PlayStation 5 is $50 off, plus the rest of the week’s best tech deals

It's Friday, which means it's time for another roundup of good tech deals. Our latest edition is headed up by a few notable discounts from the PlayStation Store's Summer Sale. Both the standard and digital versions of the PS5 are $50 off, for one — not a huge price drop, but still about as low as we usually see the consoles fall. The soon-to-be-improved PlayStation VR2 is down to $349, a $200 discount, while a number of our favorite PS5 games are also on sale. Beyond that, Apple's entry-level AirPods are back down to a low of $70, several Amazon Echo devices are available for the prices we saw during Prime Day and Google's Pixel 8a is at a new low ahead of the company's big Pixel hardware event later this month. Here are the best tech deals from this week you can still buy today.

The Google Pixel 8a is on sale for a low of $449

We called Google's Pixel 8a the best Android phone for less than $500 upon its release in May, and now it's even cheaper than usual. The handset is down to $449 at Amazon, Target, Best Buy and the Google Store, which is a $50 drop. Though we've technically seen the phone go for less, those deals have required you to trade in an older device or tie yourself to a specific carrier. Another pre-order deal threw in a $100 gift card, but only if you bought the phone at full price. This newest deal, though, marks the largest cash discount we've seen for the unlocked model.

This price applies to the base version of the phone, which includes 128GB of storage space. If you need more room, the 256GB model is also $50 off at $509. Again, that's the lowest price we've seen for the unlocked variant. Both of these deals have been available for about a week now, but they still represent good value if you've been waiting for a price drop.

Engadget's Sam Rutherford gave the Pixel 8a a score of 90 in his review. Like past A-series devices, it takes most of the headline features from last year's flagship Pixel phone — the Pixel 8 in this case — and puts them in a slightly cheaper design. You still get a bright and vivid OLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, superb camera performance and enough battery life for a typical day. It runs on the same Tensor G3 chip and 8GB of RAM, which means it can get warm under heavy load but can handle virtually any task. The stock software is just as clean, and Google promises the same seven years of OS and security updates. The handful of actually useful AI features from the standard Pixel 8 are here as well, including a Magic Eraser tool that lets you remove unwanted objects from photos.

If you can afford to step up to the Pixel 8, you still should. That device is a few months older but offers faster wired and wireless charging speeds, thinner bezels and slightly better photo quality, particularly in darker settings and with zoomed-in shots. It has a glass back rather than one made from matte plastic, plus its screen is a tiny bit bigger (6.2 inches versus 6.1 inches). It's currently on sale for $549 for a 128GB model or $609 for a 256GB one. If you really want to save the extra $100, though, the Pixel 8a isn't far behind. And if money is no object, keep in mind that Google has already confirmed that new Pixel 9 devices will arrive next month

Prime Day TV deals: Shop major discounts from LG, Samsung, TCL and more

Another Amazon Prime Day has begun, and the sale has brought a handful of decent TV discounts. The highlights include a roughly $250 drop for LG's C3 OLED TV, a suite of deals on Samsung's The Frame TVs and a few all-time lows on lower-cost standouts from Hisense and TCL. Both the Roku Streaming Stick 4K and Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max are also on sale for those who need a new streaming dongle. If you're looking to upgrade your living room setup, we've tossed aside the junkier deals and broken down the best Prime Day TV deals we could find below.

To be clear, Prime Day isn't the absolute best time to buy a new TV: Most TV makers released their newest sets fairly recently, and the majority of those will be cheaper as we get approach Black Friday. But if you absolutely need to upgrade today, there's still some value to be found.

Prime Day itself runs through July 17, and we'll update this post if prices change or more noteworthy deals pop up before then. Remember that you'll need to be a Prime member to access most of the discounts.

You can find our full breakdown of the Prime Day TV discounts that are actually deals below, updated for day two of the sale. The Prime Day gaming deals we love from Amazon’s latest sale

The latest Prime Day sale is here, and as expected, Amazon is advertising an array of deals on video games and gaming accessories. Also as expected, most of those offers aren't all that good. So allow us to do the research for you. To help those looking to upgrade their battle station or extend their backlog, we've picked out the best Amazon Prime Day discounts on gaming gear below.

While the selection isn’t as vast as what we’ll see around Black Friday, we’re still seeing lower-than-usual prices on well-reviewed games for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. There's also a few decent deals on gaming mice, headsets, laptops and other accessories we’ve tested and can recommend.

As a reminder, this year's Prime Day runs through July 17, and you’ll need to be a Prime member to access most of the discounts. We’ll update this roundup as prices change and new deals of note pop up. And if you have no interest at shopping at Amazon, note that some of these deals may also be available at other retailers.

The best laptop deals available today for Amazon Prime Day 2024

We're into the second and final day of Amazon's (paradoxically named) Prime Day sale, and we're still seeing a few standout deals on laptops we recommend. While Amazon isn't the absolute best place to buy a new laptop — you can typically spec out your device more precisely if you buy directly from a manufacturer — the sale does include lower-than-usual prices on the latest MacBook Air, Alienware's beastly m18 R2 gaming laptop and our favorite budget Chromebook. Here are the best Prime Day laptop deals we could find.

Just remember that, as with most Prime Day deals, you need to be a Prime member to access many of the discounts. The sale ends today, and we're updating this roundup as we find more deals of note. If you're hunting for discounts on other gadgets, be sure to check out our general roundup of the best Prime Day tech deals as well.

The best AirPods deals you can still grab before Prime Day ends

It's the second and final day of Amazon's Prime Day sale — yes, the name makes no sense — and we're still seeing a wide range of deals on headphones we've tested and recommend

If you've had your eye on new AirPods in particular, good news: Apple's AirPods Pro, AirPods Max and third-gen AirPods are all still available for the lowest prices we've tracked. And though a discount that brought the older second-gen AirPods down to $69 looks to be out of stock at Amazon, it is still available at Walmart and Best Buy. To help you figure out which pair, if any, is right for you, we've broken down each AirPods deal below.

It's worth noting that Apple may launch updated AirPods by the end of the year, so if you're in no rush to upgrade, it makes sense to wait. But if you absolutely need new headphones right now, there's still one more day to save a little more than usual. Just remember that you'll need to be a Prime subscriber to access some of the deals. We've been keeping an eye on these discounts over the course of the Prime Day sale, and we'll update this roundup if we see any more price or stock changes.
