These Jell-O Molds Make LEGO-Like Building Blocks

They used to tell you to not play with your food when you were a kid. Forget that nonsense. Play with your food all you want – especially when it’s Jell-O. These new Jell-O Play Build & Eat kits make it perfectly acceptable.

Each of these kits comes with two packages of Jell-O and two molds so you can create LEGO blocks to build things. IThe recipe is thicker than standard Jell-O so that your buildings aren’t all wobbly. As an added bonus, if you drop these bricks on the floor, they won’t kill your foot and leave you screaming in pain.

Do you really want dirty hands all over your Jell-O though? I don’t. If you’re building me a house of Jell-O you’d better wear gloves. Something tells me this is going to fail. Yeah, you can build that Jell-O house, but I bet that thicker consistency will be chewy like rubber. Also, get ready to clean lots of colorful stains out of your carpets, parents.

If you want to try these out for yourself, they’re available now over on Amazon. But first, check out this promo video so you can watch a Jell-O brick have a trippy adventure with other Jell-O creations.

Your move LEGO. I am awaiting your imminent LEGO Jigglers set to compete!

You Don’t Need The Jevo Jello Shot Maker, But You’ll Sure Want One

jevo-jello-2

The Jevo Automated Jello + Edible Shot Maker is a machine that is capable of making up to 20 Jello shots in as little as 10 minutes. It’s a lot like a Keurig machine, except it’s 20-serve, and not single serve. It also uses special gelatin pods that you then combine with your choice of vodka or other liquor to create a wide assortment of shots. It’s being marketed to bars, because it’s unlikely a home user will ever need to make 20 Jello shots at once… but don’t you wish you did? Imagine the parties you can throw with a machine like this! A touchscreen interface, a self-cleaning system, and large 50 ounce liquid holding capacity make this a very desirable machine for a bar owner to acquire. How much you’ll have to pay to get one, and how long you’ll have to wait is still unclear.

Red unveils the Motion mount for Epic and Scarlet cameras to eliminate CMOS rolling shutter

Red unveils the Motion Mount for global shutter capability on Epic, Scarlet

Red has just announced the Red Motion lens mounting system for Epic and Scarlet motion camera systems that'll eliminate one of their chief snags: the dreaded CMOS rolling shutter. Though details are scant, it seems it'll do that in a similar manner to the Tessive system (see More Coverage), where a second liquid crystal shutter is placed in front of the main sensor and timed to engage only when the camera's CMOS is fully "open." That'll help eliminate artifacts like skew / judder in pans, repeating motion artifacts (think distorted propellers) and flicker from lights or displays, among others. The mount also brings an 8x electronic ND filter adjustable to 1/100th of an f-stop, partially negating the need for a matte-box in bright lighting situations. The Red Motion's drawback is that it'll cost you a stop of speed even when the ND is off, meaning you may have to change to a classic mount in low-light situations. Red's showing it now at its NAB booth-cum-factory and it'll ship out this fall in PL-mount form (with a Canon mount arriving later) for $4,500. Check the source for more discussion.

Rice Krispy Treats Zombie Wants You to.. Eat Its Jello Brains?

Zombie Rice Krispies Cake

Do zombies have brains? I used to think that they didn’t, considering the fact that they move like unthinking beings. At least, that’s what they do on The Walking Dead anyway. Note that I said I ‘used to’, because if this edible bust of a zombie is to be believed, then it means that the undead are walking around with a brain in their not-so-thick-skulls–a brain made of Jello.

Obviously, I only mean this extremely awesome-but-gruesome zombie cake that was made by the Artisan Cake Company using Rice Krispy Treats, fondant, petal dust, and a whole lot of food coloring.
