Man Constructs Stunning Rubber Band Firing Wooden Minigun

The brainchild of Youtuber GenericWoodworking, this electric-powered wooden minigun shoots rubber bands and sets off cap gun caps as it fires them for extra loud sound effects. It probably goes without saying, but this man will not be allowed to participate in my next rubber band gunfight. Finger guns only!

Since the gun is electric-powered, it’s not entirely wooden and uses parts from a lawn trimmer and belt sander for its drive mechanisms. Its maker did try to make everything he possibly could out of wood, though, including some of the gun’s larger gears.

The minigun took over 300 hours to construct, and the man behind Generic Woodworking suffered numerous setbacks. Me? If I hit a single setback, I abandon the entire project. Sure, that’s led me to never actually finish any project, but think of all the hours and aggravation I’ve saved myself.

How To Make Your Own Wearable Alien Facehugger Entirely Out Of Rubber Bands

Looking for a fun arts and crafts project? How about making your own wearable alien facehugger entirely out of rubber bands per this Instructable created by user tofugami? Personally, I can’t wait to make one, then slip it on when my girlfriend isn’t paying attention and see what she says. Hopefully not, “Well that’s an improvement.”

I should have just followed the video, but being the sort of ‘I don’t need an instruction book’ idiot that I am, I assumed I could figure it out on my own. I could not. My first mistake was probably trying to construct the facehugger actually ON my face. I can honestly say I’d never been stung by a rubber band on the face before, and I don’t ever want to be again.

So yeah, I decided to just make a rubber band ball instead. That turned out to be significantly more in line with my level of expertise, which, if I’m being completely honest with myself, is whatever comes right before beginner.

These Unique Clothes are Made from Rubber Bands

As far as I know, most clothes are made out of fabric like cotton, polyester, leather, or nylon. But this unusual fashion line is made entirely out of rubber bands.

Student Rie Sakamoto designed the stretchy clothes as part of her Integrated Design thesis project at Japan’s Tama Art University. She made each piece in the line by painstakingly knitting rubber bands into panels, then assembling them into the shapes of a sweater dress and a matching cardigan.

It took Sakamoto over a year to knit all of the rubber bands together, but the result was worth it. Not only does the clothing look really amazing, but I suppose she could always pull off a band here and there if she wanted to start a rubber band fight, or if she needed to band some things together.

I’d imagine you’d need to be pretty skinny to pull off this look, or you might look like you’re wearing a sausage casing. I also wonder how difficult it is to put these super-elastic clothes or take them off.

Semi-rigid Cubic Rubber Bands

rubber-1

These are sort of neat. They’re rubber bands shaped like a wireframe cube. They keep their shape, but of course they stretch since they’re rubber bands. They’re easy to find in a drawer, and we suppose that’s it as far as their advantages are concerned. And here come the disadvantages, or rather the disadvantage: it’s $10 for 3! They’re 20mm per side, if you must know, though to be honest if you end up buying these we have something to tell you: you have too much disposable income!

Multi-Shot Rubber Band Shotgun

multi action rubber band gun Multi Shot Rubber Band Shotgun
When I was a kid I used to shoot rubber bands off my finger. But kids today have it so much better with their “technology” and “lasers” and things like Bandit Guns. These advanced rubber band guns were invented by Robert Coulston in his garage for his kids and are the world’s first multi-action rubber band gun. You can shoot one at a time, or pump the actuator to do a 9 shot multi blast like a rubber band boss that can defeat any rubber band foe. Each gun is made of laser cut plywood that stacks together and assembles easily without glue. This is a Kickstarter project that is fully funded, so they will be produced and shipped!

Human Slingshot (More Like Human Rubberband)

human slingshot Human Slingshot (More Like Human Rubberband)
They’re calling this thing the Human Slingshot but as far as we’re concerned it’s more like the Human Rubberband. If it was a slingshot, I’d expect to see bodies flying through the air like Angry Birds. Regardless this is a four person toy that involves people being slingshotted…errr rubberbanded from one side to the opposite. When all four are moving, it’s sort of a criss-cross weave as you try to avoid the others coming across the middle. Watch this video to see what the hell I just poorly described:

Now that actually looks like fun and some good exercise. Comes in black and blue which is exactly what my uncoordinated and lethargic self would be if I used this thing. Unstretched the band measures about 3 feet tall by 4 feet wide (I’m assuming that means 8 foot diameter). You can also put it on your wrist and go as Honey I Shrank the Kids for Halloween.
