Instant Dry Umbrella Dries Off With Just One Shake

instant-dry-umbrella-1

Umbrellas require a little bit of TLC, once they’ve done their job of protecting you from the elements. You usually have to put them away someplace safe to dry off, lest they leave a stain on your nice ornamental rug or something. With the Instant Dry Umbrella however, all you need to do it shake it once and put it away. The canopy is cut from a water repellant fabric that will have water beading off it most of the time. What little drops are left once you’re back home can be shaken off easily, leaving you with, well, an instantly dry umbrella. It’s available from the MoMA store for $48.

Bazinga: Big Bang Theory Light Up Umbrella

bazinga umbrella Bazinga: Big Bang Theory Light Up Umbrella
If there’s one thing Sheldon and Leonard hate it’s getting wet. That and people who doubt their intellectual superiority. Or something. Stay dry the Big Bang Theory way with the Bazinga Light Up Umbrella. Not only does this umbrella shield you from the elements, it also lights up in not one but count them two ways. The handle lights up in red and at the bottom of the handle is a flashlight. Neither precipitation nor darkness shall stop this scientist from getting to his lab (however a social awkward interruption by someone of the female persuasion might do the trick). Bazinga!

The Air Umbrella Uses A Force Field Of Air To Keep You Dry

The Air Umbrella Uses A Force Field Of Air To Keep You Dry

Revolutionizing the umbrella is about as impossible as reinventing the wheel. Until now. This is the Air Umbrella, an umbrella that creates a force field of air that shelters you from the rain. Whoa, sounds futuristic. Annnnd kinda iffy. Regardless, they’ve already met their goal on Kickstarter by tenfold. That’s right, these umbrellas are gonna be brought to […]

Air Umbrella Creates An Air-Based Forcefield Above Your Head

We’re not sure why you’d want this Air Umbrella instead of a regular umbrella, other than to maybe feel like you’re living in the future. See, it basically replaces the canopy with a circular curtain of air that blows the raindrops clear out of the way. The large shaft contains a battery, while the dome has both an impeller and propeller, drawing air in only to blow it back out with force. Depending on the model, the battery should last between 15 and 30 minutes, and the entire thing weighs between 500g and 800g. So, yeah, you’re looking at a heavy umbrella that can protect you from the rain for 30 minutes at most. Oh, and it’s expensive too, with models becoming available with a $118 pledge. That’s a lot of things working against it, but hey, you pair this with some Back To The Future shoes and you can legitimately go around pretending you just traveled back in time.

You Can Never Have Too Many Cupholders, Especially On Your Umbrella

morella-umbrella-cupholder

Morella is a cupholder for your umbrella. Before you laugh… ok, no, after you’re done laughing, you’ll want to notice that it’s not such a ridiculous idea after all. First off, the killer feature of Morella is that your liquids remain upright thanks to a special hinge, no matter what you do with the umbrella that the device is attached to. This means you can more or less walk around normally while carrying your drink and umbrella in one hand, while still having the other one free to take calls or do whatever. Sure, it looks silly, but if you think of the number of times when you’d actually enjoy having this (rainy music festivals, walking to work with a hot coffee in the morning, etc.), it actually looks to be worth the $16 pledge on their Kickstarter campaign.

Shopping Mall With Umbrella-Lined Sky

This is a shopping mall with umbrellas hanging from wire strung between the buildings. Flickr-er Patricia Almeida photographed this super fun and magical art installation. It was a part of Agitagueda, an art festival that takes place in Agueda, Portugal. I don’t know how many umbrellas they used, but my guess is A LOT. At least ten. Maybe more. Okay, you’re right — definitely more. But like, less than twenty, right? What? I never claimed to be a mathematician!
