This bread toaster concept looks more like a robot that spits out your toast

Kitchen appliances are undergoing a revolution. It started with ovens and refrigerators, but now almost every cooking tool is starting to look different and become smarter, from cooking ranges to even weighing scales. Even the humble two-piece bread toaster isn’t safe, with some manufacturers trying to put some intelligence that some might deem to be a wee bit excessive. After all, how much AI do you need to toast bread anyway? Regardless of smartness, the toaster is definitely long overdue a redesign that challenges conventions, like this design concept that really goes the distance, presenting an appliance that might look more at home in kitchens of the future.

A toaster is a kitchen appliance that embodies simplicity in every aspect. It serves a single purpose and can be operated easily without having to read a manual. You pop in slices of bread, set the timer, start toasting, and wait for the toasted bread to pop up. That nature, unfortunately, has also limited its design to simple forms, most of them in the shape of a box. There is, of course, always room for improvement and changes, both in design and function.

Some new toasters coming out this year try to upgrade the toasting process to make it even simpler and more reliable. Imagine never having to deal with burnt toasts or getting the perfect crispiness you personally prefer, regardless of the state or quality of the bread. This design concept, on the other hand, doesn’t exactly change the functionality that much, but it tries to demonstrate that you don’t have to stick to a boxy design, either.

This futuristic toaster design is supposed to be inspired by rockets, but it also looks like a rocket launcher. Instead of an upright box, the toaster is set at an angle and held up by two legs, one on each side. The main controls are on one leg, mixing analog and digital mechanisms. You have an LCD display that shows the timer or a clock, but you also have a dial for setting the time.

What’s even more interesting is that the body of the toaster can actually tilt down, conveniently sliding your toasts onto a plate. This solves most problems of having to pick up the bread when they’re done, which sometimes leads to accidents and burns. Unfortunately, it doesn’t do this automatically, but there’s a lever you can pivot so that you won’t have to touch the hot body of the toaster.

If that part could be automated, the toaster would probably qualify as a futuristic robot helper in your kitchen. The design admittedly takes up a bit more space than a conventional toaster, but it also adds some character to the appliance in the process. We’ll probably see more unconventional designs in the future, so don’t be surprised if toasters a few years from now finally stop looking like your grandparents’ toasters.

The detachable transparent walls of this toaster make for a unique toasting experience!

The typical toaster has three inconveniences: they are bulky, hard to clean, and the electric conductors inside are exposed. Since these problems are present in most of these appliances, they are easy to overlook – or adapt to them. The BOLD toaster offers a solution to these problems: by creating a sleek toaster that disassembles for easy cleaning and has isolated wires for safety. Also, as you may have noticed, it features transparent walls, giving users the oddly satisfying experience of watching their toast darken in front of their eyes.

The BOLD toaster functions slightly differently from standard products. First off, the product’s transparent walls, as mentioned before, detach for easy cleaning – they’re even dishwasher safe! Secondly, you’ll notice that the BOLD has just one long slot for toasting bread pieces, rather than the typical design: stacking them side by side. Also, instead of having the bread pieces pop out from the top of the toaster, they slide out horizontally. The advantage of this design change? It cuts down on the bulk of the appliance without limiting its functionality. After all, does anyone toast one piece of bread at a time?

You don’t see innovation among these smaller kitchen appliances every day, which is why the BOLD transparent toaster caught our eye. It’s a welcome surprise to see unique improvements being made to a product, like a toaster, that seemed to be “locked” into a classic design.

Get curved toasts with this toaster…because it makes absolute sense!

A toaster is a staple in every household, and toast a part of almost everyone’s breakfast. We’re all used to the usual rectangular box-like form of toasters, however, Jexter Lim’s Arctoas is a breath of fresh air. Arctoas is said to serve toast with a whimsical smile. Intrigued? Me too! Unlike the shape and structure of conventional toasters, Arctoas has a curved circular form. To be honest, it almost looks like a small air purifier! Two cylindrical sheets of mica were combined, with a nichrome wire running vertically through them (which prevents the bread from getting stuck) to create the toaster’s ergonomic form. And on hindsight, it makes absolute sense to have a curved toast!

Lim’s aim was to create a unique bread toasting and breakfast experience. He wanted to provide a refreshing touch to a family’s breakfast routine in the morning. Arctoas comes with a circular slot that runs all around the toaster. You simply slip your toast into the slot. A curved Capacitive Touch Switch is provided as an alternative to physical buttons. You can adjust the settings of the toaster using the switch, according to your personal toast preference. Once the toast is ready, a motorized carriage lifts up the bread, so you can pluck it out! However, the curved form of the toaster molds the toast, giving it a curved shape as well!

The curved toast looks almost an arc and is much easier to hold and eat as compared to your regular square-shaped toast. The curved toast fits seamlessly into your palm, allowing you to easily spread butter, jam, or any condiment of your choice. You can even pile on some eggs, avocadoes, tomatoes or more without fear of them spilling or falling over! Ingenious isn’t it! In fact, the curved slice of bread looks like a smile. With Arctoas even your daily bread will greet you with a cheerful grin and keep you stain-free as you head out to start your day! Now, why didn’t someone invent this before?!
