Enjoy camping in the great outdoors in comfort with off-grid camper trailer

There are different kinds of people who go camping. There are those that really want to rough it out in the middle of nature, away from the bare necessities that we’ve gotten used to every day. But there are also those that want to stay close to their creature comforts while still experiencing some semblance of the great outdoors. If you’re more of the latter, this Mad Max-looking vehicle may be the one for you.

Designer: Bruder

The Bruder EXP-8 is the flagship vehicle from the Australian adventure trailer manufacturer. If you want to experience an outdoor adventure, you can do so in the comfort of this off-grid camper trailer that is “designed and built for all seasons and environments”. You will be able to drive through the most uneven of terrains and the most extreme climactic conditions as it has 12 inches of suspension travel and three times more usable wheel travel than others in its category.

On the outside, it looks like something out of a Mad Max movie, but with a sleeker and sturdier look. Inside, it is spacious and has a pretty luxurious set up complete with a fully functional kitchen, a living room, bedroom, a bathroom that looks like those you can see in hotels, and gallery windows so you can enjoy a good view of the outdoors. It also has solar panels, a 20 KwH battery, and a 500W inverter so you can get enough power for four people inside the camper.

While it looks tough and heavy, they used lightweight construction for the Bruder EXP-8. It is also able to calibrate its height to fit different kinds of tow vehicles. It can even level out on sloping camp spots so you can enjoy the best of both worlds while camping out in luxury.

Explore the unexplored in the adventure-driven, all-terrain ALD09 camping trailer

Arguably, the traditional image of camping and outdoor exploration is in a relay of evolution, and Georgia-based ROC Trailers is sharing the baton. To that accord, the outdoorsy company has launched its new ALD09 trailer. This innovative camping trailer isn’t just another addition to the market; it represents a leap in eco-friendly, electric vehicle-compatible camping.

Bucking the trend of conventional trailers, the ALD09 replaces old aluminum-skinned wooden structures with an insulated fiberglass-composite design exuding a luxury yacht appearance. The choice of material, ROC shares, not only amplifies strength and durability but significantly reduces the trailer’s weight, facilitating a lighter footprint on outdoor expeditions.

Designer: ROC Trailers

Engineered particularly for rugged off-road escapades, the ALD09 boasts a robust steel frame construction, all-terrain tires with 16-inch steel wheels, and a 2000lb axle-less independent suspension granting an impressive 20-inch ground clearance. Such fortitude promises a journey through diverse terrains without compromising on stability or comfort.

Emphasized by its lighter construction, and a gross weight as low as 2,000 pounds (907 kg), the trailer is extremely flexible in how and with what sort of vehicle you choose to tow it. That said, the interior reflects a classic teardrop-style layout featuring a queen-size mattress, LED lighting, and USB ports. For added space, a shelf next to the foot of the bed transforms into a sleeping platform and is ideal for tucking in a child or a furry friend. This assortment expands the sleeper capacity, without the rooftop tent, which is an optional setting to increase the headroom and provide more ventilation.

The galley is where the trailer’s heart rests. Here, an efficient kitchen setup includes drawers, cabinets, and an optional sink. To address the challenge of limited space, ROC spreads equipment around, providing a tongue box with a fridge, and a side table ideal for holding a portable stove – all integrated into a flat, tailgate you can flip-open for a satisfying culinary experience on the road.

To make the ALD09 ready for elongated stays in the wilderness, its kitchen is equipped with a 57-liter water tank. The trailer can be retrofitted with a 100-watt solar panel and a 10A Voyager solar controller if required. Starting at a modest $16,999 without the add-ons; if you factor in its lightweight construction and spacious interior, the ROC ALD09 is a modern trailer with environmental responsibility at the back of its mind.

Off-roading Highland 60 trailer with queen-size bed, kitchen, and outdoor shower makes you feel at home

What do you want after a long day of exploring the faraway land? After a long breath; it is a tent-topped camping trailer to offer the comforts of home and minimalist storage for your gear.

Keeping the prerequisites in mind, a Colorado-based start-up, that set out at making camping trailers in the middle of the pandemic, has revamped its offering with an off-road trailer called the Highland 60.

Designer: Sasquatch Expedition Campers

By all means, the robust Highland 60 is Sasquatch Expedition Campers’ most premium delivery. The flagship trailer measures 16.3 feet long and 6.8 feet high, it comes with a queen-size memory foam mattress, and a full-size kitchen so you never have to compromise with your lodging in the great outdoors.

Other amenities onboard include a three-stove burner, sink, fridge, on-demand water heater, an outdoor shower, and ample storage on the inside and outside. You may prefer a tent mount trailer, but this one is delivered with a flat-roof, rendering it a boxy shape, that makes the overall appearance compact and cozy: an option worth exploring. But if you’re adamant, Sasquatch offers a rooftop tent add-on, basically as a second-bedroom option.

The compact trailer can be accessed from either side courtesy of a dual-side entry. The interiors: walls, roof, and floor are fully insulated. The walls are finished in water-resistant and sustainable rice husk paneling. The trailer features a MaxxFan roof vent and packs aluminum cabinetry in the kitchen and on the rear door for storage.

The sturdy cabin frame is made from aluminum, which rests on an in-house suspension system called Bigfoot. This makes the Highland 60 capable of handling the roughest trails despite its 60-inch-wide interiors. The trailer’s customized aluminum roof rack features 5 T-track crossbars and storage space underneath to hold optional solar panels.

Individually controlled LED lights glow up the trailer on the inside, and a 6,500-BTU Propex heater ensures the trailer has an adequate temperature no matter the weather outside. Highland 60 starts at $47,000 for the base model with the price shooting up by approximately 8K for the top-of-the-line model with all essentials for off-grid camping.

Size up your mobile lifestyle with this tinniest towable, stowable, and expandable travel trailer you can get

When you’re a small family, an RV seems an effective way to live a trimmed, mobile life. The maintenance cost and carbon footprint of an average RV, irrespective of the living comfort, is not comparable to that of a teardrop trailer or a tent for a weekend getaway.

Pitching somewhere in between, as an undeniable option that requires minimum space – in storage and when driving – only to expand at a campsite into a full-sized unit capable of sleeping two adults and a child (depending on how close you choose to sleep) is the weather-resistant Hitch Hotel.

Designer: Hitch Hotel

By the name of it, you’d imagine this tiny road companion to be available for rent. But the makers, for now, offer it only for a one-time purchase and would likely consider a rentable option sometime down the line. The small towable, stowable, and expandable Hitch Hotel measure only 3.5 feet when folded for storage. It tags to the back of any car in this tiny form factor only to retract to slightly over 7 feet at the location where the user intends to set it up for an overnight camp.

The tiny trailer unfurls in a telescopic manner to give you a hard-shelled sleeping space with full protection and a safe height from the ground. Reckoned as a go-anywhere hotel room, the Hitch Hotel trailer has an impossibly small footprint until it converts into 6 feet high, 6 feet-wide, and 7.8 feet long camping trailer in minutes.

The Hitch Hotel features a fiberglass body, designed to keep the overall weight of the trailer down to bare minimum. Meant to sleep you after the sun goes down, it can be used to stow your gear when its trailing behind your car. Despite its form factor, the Hitch Hotel remains close to a conventional trailer in form and function. It has a marine-grade canvas lining on the inside with padded insulation to maintain overnight temperature for inhabitants.

Kept well-ventilated by the window on the rear door and one on the side, the Hitch Hotel has a roof fan and LED lights powered by a 60Ah battery. For convenience, owners would have to invest in their own sleeping mattresses with the standard trailer available for $9,800. An upgraded model could fetch you a tiny kitchen, water storage, a memory foam mattress, and higher capacity battery for a premium.

The artistic SkyView Camper has a fling with mid-century modern architecture style

Teardrop trailers have cramped-up interiors and most travel trailers are built to look alike. Marrying the advantages of a camping trailer in a teardrop form factor with artistic leverage and space to accommodate two people in harmony; SkyView Camper is set to be that tiny home trailing your car.

Whether you’re cut out for the mountain life or not, you would have some desire to ride the white powder. In that vein, when you are sliding on snow, on a handmade snowboard from Never Summer Industries, you’ll definitely want the company’s design aesthetics to accompany you down to your ride waiting below. Enter SkyView Camper, Never Summer’s dig at the recreational trailers, and boy, isn’t it one the American outdoorsy with a bent for Frank Lloyd Wright architecture would love?

Designer: SkyViewCampers

Inspired by mid-century modern architecture, the SkyView boasts a modern shape with a commitment to the best utilization of space. So, within a 143-in x 76-in space you get a well-designed and spaciously crafted living/sleeping area for two people. For headspace, the makers provide an awning, which allows the height to rise up to 87-in. SkyView follows minimalistic design language and features high-quality material for construction, which overpowers the random trailers with overworked designs and shallow choice of construction material.

Known for its design and aesthetics, Never Summer Industries has tried to speak the same language in its SkyView Campers. Modeled after Frank Lloyd Wright’s desert laboratory in Arizona, a SkyView features walls and ceiling clad in wood and laminate, shelves cover most part of the walls, while a convertible bed (with queen-size memory foam mattress) is placed well below a skylight. The stained-glass window on the rear allows ample natural light until you switch to the interior LED lighting to glow up your cozy space. On the outside, the trailer comes installed with 100W rooftop solar panels, an outdoor shower, and storage for your gear, skis, and snowboard. Weighing 1,500 pounds, the SkyView camping trailer is slated to be available in 2023 starting at $29,900.

This whale-inspired camping trailer is feature-filled design for the ultimate family adventure!

Campers have unlimited choice already when it comes to choosing impressive camping trailers, RVs and more. This wide array of options is suited for almost any enthusiast’s need and comfort. But if you’re looking for modularity, Whale Trailer Cabin will be your best bet when it makes out of the concept stage to ride you to the great outdoors with more purpose and luxury.

A plethora of feature-packed luxury travel trailers available on the market has made it easier for people during the pandemic to enjoy the changing scenery without having to deal with tourist crowds. This has been a sight in many countries including China, as most international borders have remained closed for the better part of two years now, giving adventures and family a chance to explore their own country in hired or owned (as means allow) RVs, trailers, and motorhomes. The choice of camping trailers show how creative people can be when it comes to customizing mobile living landscape, and in the bid, designer Hu Yong’s Whale Trailer Cabin is a splendid example.

Designed to the needs and preferences of the Chinese consumer market, the trailer visions to tap into the growing fad for RVs and the like in the Asian country. According to Goldstein Market Intelligence forecast, the Chinese RV market is expected to grow from 25,000 units in 2017 to almost 400,000 units by 2030. Based on the recreational vehicle type, the trailer segment according to the analysis is the fastest growing and will be hugely in demand through this period. In this scenario, the right option will let you bring the entire family, including your pet, to the great outdoors without having to sacrifice comfort.

In that vein, the Red Dot Design Award 2021 winning Whale Trailer Cabin, which as the name suggests derives shape from the marine animal, comes with a gradient marine blue and white color exterior. From the images, the white interior of the trailer blends well with the exterior color scheme and adds to the luxe. The concept separates the sleeping, living and eating areas and has an extending awning at the back that offers more covered outdoor space to be utilized. When you want to grab a bite, the hideaway kitchen on the front can be pulled out giving you a complete kitchen to your disposal. In the middle is the living area with a pop-top roof opening up space for more headroom and natural light.

In the rear of this conceptual trailer with big windows lies the interesting sleeping area. The slide-out section rests on a clip-out stand and also with an inflatable pop-top roof. The matte finish on the exterior is largely what amplifies the overall appeal of this trailer that’s feature-laden right out of the box. The sizeable, yet durable all-in-one trailer has everything you’d want built right in – all you’ll require is a towing truck and you’re good to go for a spin. I’m not sure if this particular trailer is designed for more than a weekend stay, but we’d assume it makes provision for some photovoltaics and water harvesting, so it can fit the need of adventurers who want to park it in the wild and forget about returning back to the city life for at least a few weeks.

This Scandinavian-inspired caravan designed for a minimal mobile lifestyle gives the ultimate outdoor experience!

Hobby’s new Maxia caravan takes to Scandinavian design to merge the mobile lifestyle with hygge living, creating a caravan that feels a lot like your own private luxury city apartment on wheels.

The mobile lifestyle is all that’s on our minds nowadays. Getting away from the monotony of our routines and hitting the road to drive to our favorite camping spot or even all the way across the country sounds like the holiday we’re all looking for. Riding the tails of their Beachy caravan, Hobby, the world’s largest manufacturer of caravans, released their Scandinavian-inspired Maxia caravan that feels like riding in your very own mobile city apartment.

Maxia’s exterior holds onto the traditional look of a caravan, but smooths out its edges and rounds its windows to give the caravan an elevated, more seasoned look. Maxia’s front window slopes from the caravan’s roof down the curved front facade, lengthening the feel of the interior and offering fuller views of the outdoors through the dual-pane panoramic window. With an aim of transforming their caravans into, “the most beautiful places in the world,” Hobby designed Maxia for hygge-style living, outfitting the interior with comfort and simplicity in mind. Available in two different lengths that inspire two different layouts, Maxia 660 WQM is the longer of the two and accommodates up to four adults with full kitchen and bathroom areas.

The dual-pane panoramic window frames the caravan’s L-shaped kitchen, where you can do everything you might in your home’s kitchen, including stovetop cooking with a gas hob and sink. The kitchen also comes equipped with a 157-L Dometic compressor refrigerator, stainless steel sink, swivel-out corner cabinet, push-lock drawers, and even a multifunctional splashback. Moving from the kitchen to the living area, a U-shaped sofa transforms into a bed come night for supplemental sleeping arrangements and functions as a dining area during the day for meals, hanging out, or working. The living area mainly hosts the caravan’s storage compartments, filling out benches and cabinets with plenty of wardrobe space, seating storage, even a heated coat rack.

Sticking to an open floor plan to allow plenty of movement and living space, the primary sleeping area is tucked away towards the back end of the caravan, only in front of the bathroom, for a little bit more privacy. The bedroom keeps a spacious fixed spring mattress positioned atop a sturdy beechwood bed frame that hosts more storage space underneath, accessible via a Lift-O-Mat that raises the mattress to reveal an under-bed storage area.

In addition to the open-floor layout and Scandinavian-inspired design, Maxia hosts an array of smart appliances and utility fittings to make holidays on the road run that much smoother, including a full electrical system, Truma Combi heater/water heater, 47-L freshwater tank, 23.5-L removable, rollable waste water tank, and Hobby Connect touchscreen- and app-based control and monitoring system.

Designer: Hobby

Hobby held onto a more traditional exterior look for Maxia, smoothing out its edges and lengthening its windows for a more elevated, refined look.

During the day, plenty of natural sunlight pours in through Maxia’s double-pane glass windows.

The bathroom provides even more storage space and comes complete with a THETFORD rotating toilet.

The sofas and dining benches are plush, yet easy to handle for quick late-night sofa-to-bed transformations.

The dining area doubles as a workspace and living area during the day to offer plenty of space to unwind and relax.

This trailer gives the traditional bean design an upgrade for more comfortable off-road adventures!

How many of us this year have felt the need to just pack up and live off-the-grid thanks to our new remote lifestyles? Well, I found you something that will make your dreams come true – meet Black Bean! This teardrop trailer is a limited edition design by a USA-based company and they have upgraded the traditional trailers for a comfortable off-road adventure.

The project takes shape as an upgraded gateway cabin covering more of the users’ demands than the previous series. This travel trailer provides more functionality including higher ground clearance, galley accessibility, more electrical power, and plenty of storage while offering a cozy interior design. Despite its name, the model comes in different colors, including light and basalt gray, white, olive green, black, or any custom color.

‘Blank Bean’ by bean trailer provides a very similar cabinet design to the previous trailers, but more capability for those who desire all-terrain adventures. The new model includes a bigger stove that slides in and out, a larger fridge with an ice-maker option, more countertop space, and a deeper sink with a set-in cutting board. Meanwhile, cooking outside is possible as the stove can be rotated and covered by the back door.

As for the interior, according to the customer’s request for more ‘warmth’, the designers have added some laminate options. A ceiling slat option clads the entire roof adding extra coziness to the cabin. Here, the designers attached more storage space including large upper drawers, as well as a surrounding cushion option, to facilitate the users’ accommodation.

The trailer has a newly designed fender with a stand-on capability, serving also as a step to reach the roof, where one can put a pop-up tent for extra sleeping space. Moreover, ‘black bean’ consists of a propane tank, a 68-liter fresh water tank, and an outdoor shower system with a water heater. A curved light leaf solar panel over the front window contributes additional backup in terms of charging up the batteries while protecting the windows from stones and debris.

This tiny home crafted from timber can be attached to your car for the ultimate flexible lifestyle!

The universal mood after this pandemic has been to be able to travel, to explore unpopular locations, and to embrace remote work so you can travel for longer time periods. Keeping all of these wishes in mind, Ecuador-based Jag Studio designed La Casa Nueva – a timber camper that is also a fully functional tiny home so you can set up your base anywhere.

It includes a bed, a roof, workstations, a kitchen, and a bathroom making it a comfortable shelter for two people. The design team led by juan alberto andrade and cuqui rodríguez built the little retreat for themselves to meet the demands of their life on the road, photographing architecture across ecuador. With its compact size and mobility, jag studio’s ‘la casa nueva’ is able to stay for short periods of time in different locations and with different configurations. It aims to be forever new — to be perceived or experienced depending on its temporary site. Thus, its surrounding context will inform its form.

With ‘la casa nueva’ camper, jag studio reinterprets the material and shape of typical house along the ecuadorian coast, both on an experimental and on a primitive level. A wooden gabled structure raised from the floor. La casa nueva is made 100% with artisan craftsmanship. While the outer shell is built with yellowheart lumber, teak boards are used for the structural frame, and plywood boards for the interior furniture elements. The structure rests on a metal trailer measuring three by two meters (around 10 by 6.5 feet) which is secured with metal plates.

The outer skin of jag studio’s camper has different opening configurations and can take on a range of forms — beginning from a completely enclosed and sealed wooden shell to a permeable place that is integrated with nature, providing an effect of great spatial capacity. The interior space is divided into five parts conditioned by the structural modulation of the six frames every two feet that divide the project according to its function. The first two out of the five modules correspond to the raised bed and storage, the third module to a flexible dining and desk space, and the fourth and fifth to a corridor and service area including a kitchenette and bathroom.

Designer: JAG Studio
