Manneken Pis Incense Burner Pees Smoke

Inspired by the classic 1619 bronze Manneken Pis (Dutch: “little pissing man”) fountain found in Brussels, Belgium (and since recreated for gardens all over the world), this backflow incense burner features a little man peeing a solid stream of smoke. Available on Amazon (affiliate link), the incense burner makes a perfect conversation piece. And what an interesting conversation that’s going to be!

I wonder what that little guy drank to be peeing all that smoke. Because my guess is fire. You know, one time, I ate a ghost chili pepper and almost melted the toilet in the downstairs bathroom. That’s a true story. At least in my mind, it is. In reality, it is not.

I actually have a backflow incense burner that looks like a waterfall, and the smoke is supposed to cascade down like water. Except I ran out of backflow incense cones and never bought more – which is unfortunate because the incense really helped mask the smell of the kitchen garbage I never take out.

This part-faucet, part-fountain makes life easier for brushing and more

In Pinterest’s endless list of quirky designer faucets I’m still waiting to see a faucet that’s as practically wonderful as the Da Vinci. Part faucet, part fountain, the Da Vinci is one of those “why hasn’t anyone ever thought of it before” projects that happens to be innovative and sensible in 2019. Styled like a regular faucet with two mixers on each side, the Da Vinci has an innocuous lever sitting right near the outlet. Pull the lever forward and the faucet turns into a fountain, giving you an upward stream of water that you can either drink or gargle with while brushing.

Designed to save you the trouble of cupping your hands every time you want to drink water from the faucet (and inevitably dropping/wasting most of the water in the process), the Da Vinci just simply reroutes the water to an upward-facing outlet so you can just bend down and drink directly from the faucet. Whether you want to rinse while brushing, drink water, or just wash your face, the Da Vinci has a much more practical solution to a problem that has somehow existed for centuries without being solved. The upward-facing fountain outlet is as easy as pushing down on a lever, making it perfect for elders and kids… and it actually ends up saving 88% of the water in the process by regulating the water’s pressure.

As functional as they may be, the Da Vinci faucets have the aesthetics absolutely nailed too. They come with a pretty eye-catching organic design that’s ergonomic, comes in a variety of premium finishes, and adds a touch of class to your bathroom. Each faucet is made from 100% lead-free brass and even comes with a lifetime warranty.

A combination of practical and playful, Da Vinci’s faucets tick pretty much all the boxes. They’re great-looking, much more accessible, and solve a pretty big problem that’s gone unnoticed for centuries while ultimately saving water in the process too… And what do you know, they’re so much fun to use that your kid might actually end up brushing twice a day!

Da Vinci Fountain Faucet: The Future of Faucets

Part faucet, part fountain, this Italian inspired bathroom faucet makes life easier, minimizes germs, and saves water.

The Da Vinci utilizes a dual method of water delivery. For starters, you’ll still be able to get water from the downspout as you would with a traditional faucet. But with a flip of a switch, the flow can be redirected through a spout at the top of the faucet, bringing you a magnificent arc of clean water whenever you want.

Easily rinse after brushing with water.

Easily rinse shaving cream.

Rinse facial cleanser without splashing.

Take pills or vitamins without painful bending.

Save Up to 88% Water

If by chance you forget to turn off the water during your 2 minutes of brushing your teeth, Da Vinci saves you up to 88% water compared to normal faucets.

Did you know that the average American uses up to 4.4 gallons of water each time they brush when they leave the water running, and they brush at least twice a day. If all 329 million Americans did that they would use more than a billion gallons of water just brushing alone.

Captivating Cat Quencher

bobblekat_fountain_1

Cat owner/lover or not, you’ve seen this video somewhere on the internet where cats go crazy licking these frozen ice spheres. In fact, let me link you to it! Cats absolutely adore anything with a playful aspect to it, and although the ice ball trick is much too entertaining, it can be tiresome having to stock your freezer with water balloons everyday for the sake of this feline fancy.

The BobbleKat takes that chore off your hands with its quirky design that does a pretty eerily accurate imitation of the ice ball. Here you have a tray along with a ball shaped fountain that’s powered via induction. The fountain recycles water from the tray and pushes it out from openings on the top, providing a constant film of moving water on the ball’s surface. The cat can drink directly from this ‘fountain’ by licking the water off the ball, maintaining the exact interaction with the ice ball. What’s cooler is that the fountain shaped ball floats on the water in the tray too, giving the cat an all-round experience and keeping your pet as well as you entertained!

Flowering Fountain

The Daffodil Fountain serves as both a sculptural element and refreshing water source in a variety of public spaces. The petal-inspired design functions as a drain for the water, but also creates a way to generate revenue. Made of cost-efficient fiberglass, the petals can be changed regularly to promote local artists or generate income from sponsored advertisers. Aside from having a positive aesthetic impact, the design is a hygienic way to quench your thirst, thanks to its activating foot pedals.

Colorful Water Dancing Speakers Put a Tiny Bellagio Fountain on Your Desktop

Speakers are great for hearing your music, but most speakers look pretty boring. So when when you aren’t listening to music, they look terrible in your home. These Water Dancing Speakers deliver sound and are visually pleasing to look at, making the whole experience much nicer.

These speakers each have 4 colorful LEDs aimed upward, along with jets of water that bounce along with the beat. The color of the light changes at random, and the height of the water is determined by the volume and pitch of the sound. They connect to your computer via USB, and are completely sealed so you won’t need to refill them.

Pretty cool huh? They cost about $63(USD) for a pair over at Red5 and will add some color and movement to your room.

Waterfall Swing is the Object of Your Childhood Fantasies

When I was a kid, I always found waterfalls mesmerizing. There’s just something about the massiveness of the whole thing that my kid brain just couldn’t fully process. Mesh that concept with a swing set and you’ve got yourself the object of many people’s childhood fantasies.

Waterfall SwingThe Waterfall Swing is a collaborative installation by Mike O’Toole, Andrew Ratcliff, Ian Charnas and Andrew Witte. Its primary component are mechanical waterjets and solenoids that showered a plane of falling droplets towards the path of the one who’s on the swing.

The cool thing is that the curtain of water parts in the middle whenever the person on the swing, well, swings past it.

The swing debuted at the 2011 World Maker Faire. If you think you’ve got what it takes, you can learn how to build your own Waterfall Swing by checking out this link.

Tyent Touchscreen Water Ionizer & Purifier: High-Tech Clean Water

Water purification is a booming business, especially in Asia where not all water coming out of the faucet is directly drinkable. The Tyent Water Ionizer and Purifier is the fancy touchscreen version, for those of you who want to insert a bit of technology into the filtering process.

tyent water ionizer

The Under Counter Extreme 9000T Water Ionizer has a touchscreen to control the system for water purification. There are two distinct spouts and a turbo function. The pH of the water can be set as low as 2.0 for cleaning and sterilization processes and as high as 12.0 for drinking, cooking, and washing up. The ionizer can even be controlled by voice. Its guts use a double filter, the first one is made out of carbon and the second is made out of three different kinds of ceramics to balance the mineral content of the water.

This particular ionizer sells for $2,795(USD) directly from Tyent, so it probably won’t be finding its way into 3rd-world countries where water purification is a critical need.
