Dodge Charger Daytona electric is a power-packed muscle car that’ll please EV enthusiasts

The Charger Daytona electric version has been in my crosshair for quite some time now, and Dodge has finally pulled the drapes off. Yes, the production version of an equally potent Daytona with a dual-motor powertrain is finally official. The quiet beast can deliver the same performance as its big brother powered by the Hemi V8 engine.

This highly anticipated electric muscle car is slated to be available for buyers later this year in two variants – R/T and Scat Pack. Both these versions will further have a two-door coupe and a four-door sedan options. Securing the future for such drivetrains, Dodge has already revealed plans for a Banshee performance version of the electric Charger Daytona next year. As and when that one will be released, boy… it’s going to tickle the fancies of the most avid speed demons!

Designer: Dodge

Talking of the technical specifications the electric Charger will be built on the STLA Large platform, the company’s top-of-the-line electric architecture designed for SUVs and heavy cars. There’s a bigger 100.5 kWh battery to provide all the performance-oriented power to the drivetrain. This will be accompanied by the 400V propulsion system for DC fast charging – enabling an 80 percent charge level in just 52 minutes. But we know what all you motorheads are interested in – that’s the acceleration and top speeds. The R/T churns out 456 horsepower, and 404Lb-ft of torque for shooting from 0-60mph in 4.7 seconds. The Scat Pack has more under its belly with 630 horsepower and 627lb-ft of torque to go from 60mph in just 3.3 seconds.

Having a drag race at those speeds requires massive stopping power, hence, the electric Dodge Charger is fitted with huge 16-inch Brembo brakes and red six-piston front/four-piston rear fixed calipers. This is paired with the “Brake by Wire” intelligent braking system that uses a central module to control vehicle deceleration for “optimum braking force and pedal feedback.” Performance in different sets of conditions should also be a cakewalk given the electric Charger is loaded with Auto, Eco, Sport, and Wet / Snow on the R/T version. The Scat Pack variant will get two additional modes – Track and Drag. As clear from the names, the track mode will optimize the car for “maximum vehicle performance capability on smooth, dry surfaces; while the Drag mode is tailored for “optimal dragstrip launch and straight-line acceleration.”

Of course, a muscle car should not only look (with a faux exhaust) and perform like a beast but also need to have that heavy grunt to impart an impact on onlookers. Dodge has that sorted with the low-speed hum that turns into a growl as the car accelerates. Coming on to the interiors, the electric muscle car will have pretty much the same cabin build as the recent Charger models. However, there will be a tad more gadgets and technology to match the electric vehicle theme. On the front there are dual free-standing displays, one is a 10.3- or 16-inch gauge cluster and the other is a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The steering wheel is more squared-off and the pistol-grip gear shifter is placed on the center console.

This muscle electric car’s retro-modern flair is what this Tesla obsessed world needs

Fusing the vintage look of classic cars with the modern aesthetics of an electric vehicle is no mean feat since they are contrasting genres altogether. One look at this beastly machine and you’d believe it’s propelled by a fuel-powered engine. But it’s not!

Hiding underneath its muscular form is an electric motor that fully complements the intimidating aura. The big chunky wheels, industrial look and reinforced cockpit are meant for speed rush on the highway or race tracks.

Designer: Radek Štěpán

The concept is completely handcrafted – even though in the digital realm – and would make for an interesting EV in the current times. More so when all the electric cars are getting the definitive futuristic aesthetic and larger-than-life looks. The ride has got a lot of grunt visually, even though it might not have the scream of a V8 or V12 engine.

It incorporates the visual flair of the Ferrari 330 P4, and the streamlined design of the Porsche 956 while having the elegance of the Lola T70. If you’ve been a fan of the 70s and 80s racing cars, you know where this is coming from. Paint it in matte black and you’ve got the perfect getaway ride for a vigilante – Batman that is what I meant!

The front and the rear sections get an interesting design here as the former has recessed LED headlights and the former has a cut-open look for the taillights. That elongated hood and the fat rear perfectly go with the vintage modernized look of the race car.

What sets this muscle electric car apart from the other futuristic designs is its raw feel. Want to take it for a spin already? We bet your speed buds are already tingling.

Tech-infused 2024 Ford Mustang is more powerful, can be revved remotely for bragging rights

Seventh-generation Mustang is here for hardcore enthusiasts who get goosebumps just by the mild growl of the Pony Car. The 2024 Ford mustang is here with a toned muscular look (the four-wheeler has been working out it seems) and tech-infused interiors.

Ever since the first Ford Mustang rolled out six decades earlier. The Stag has been the love of purists who appreciate the raw muscle power in cars. This will most likely be the last gasoline-powered Mustang and I can’t have enough gratitude.

Designer: Ford

The bodywork is now edgier and loses some of the contours, confirming its appeal to the new generation. Of course, the 2024 Mustang retains the attractive proportions of its predecessors, and that’s a big relief. The front end is inspired by the original Mustang with a more squarish aesthetic. That’s contrasted by the headlights with tri-bar LED elements and the three-bar taillights which are even more prominent now. The rear overhang is now shorter and the hips are slightly wider for that sex appeal.

The interiors are where Ford has taken the 2024 Mustang to the next level with a more driver-centric layout highlighted by the digital displays. The top-end trims get a chunky 12.4-inch gauge cluster and a 13.2-inch touchscreen. Clearly, Ford wants to attract generation-Z who have seen a lot of modern interiors in high-end games. That’s because the Forza Motorsport-inspired animations and user interface are pretty obvious. The driver can toggle between instrument panel designs with the option to get that nostalgic retro dials on the  ’87–’93 Fox-body Mustangs.

The physical materials on the Mustang have also been bumped up with doors and dash wrapped in a leather-like material and inclusions like the sporty carbon-weave pattern for the trims. The plastic material here is laser etched so it’s superior in its own rights.

The 2024 Mustang will come in the coupe and convertible options – both available in EcoBoost turbocharged 2.3-liter inline-four or a Coyote 5.0-liter V-8 engine variants. The V8-powered GT versions are more powerful with the big front-end grille and intakes. The EcoBoost engine brings revamped fuel-delivery and ignition systems for better efficiency, higher compression ratio, updated turbocharger and other improvements.

The Coyote engine is one the most powerful on a Mustang yet as the V8 should be able to churn out 480 horses and 420 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes with a six-speed manual transmission mated to a robust dual-mass flywheel. One interesting feature of the seventh-generation muscle car is the ability to remotely rev the engine with the key fob for bragging rights!

Ford has not let a word out on how much the 2024 Mustang will cost when finally rolled out in 2023, but it should be more akin to the outgoing versions. The current base EcoBoost model is priced at $29,000 and the top-end trim goes for $57,000.

This beastly Dodge Challenger concept is longing for Jason Cammisa’s driving flair

Talk of timeless muscle cars and there are only a few that match the magnetism of the 1974 Dodge Challenger. And of them all, the Glen Bunch’s Dodge Challenger crafted by the car builder and racer in that era is a special one. He literally built the AAGT Challenger for the IMSA’s All-American GT and that is what makes the muscle car racer so special for hardcore motorsports fans.

After the first year’s weight limit shenanigans, the car hit the ideal power-to-weight ratio and we all know, the rest is etched in the pages of history. As a tribute to this exotic creation by Glen back in those days, Abimelec Design has created what they claim to be the ultimate IMSA AAGT racing series Cuda.

Designer: Abimelec Design

The classic motorsports flair of the powerful Cuda is undeniable in this concept design. This supercharged monster is something that Jason Cammisa would love to take through the paces. He would love to beat the Dekon Chevy Monzas and the famous Greenwood Corvettes in a drag race someday. Of course, who wouldn’t love to see Jason rev such a powerful Cuda to the deafening sound of the engine in the grandstand?

SpeedKore who commissioned the concept design, added the signature carbon fiber twist to the hot mix, and the result is this sultry beast in matte black finish. The wide body stance slimmed down at the middle of side profile gives the ride a sexy muscular aesthetic. The exhausts on either side flowing along the body are sublime, adding flair to the muscle car riding on big racing tires.

This Cuda powered by a V8 engine is by all accounts a Dodge Challenger ready to set the tarmac on fire. So why not revive the legend of the IMSA’s “run what you brung” spirit of the rules?

This Dodge Charger Daytona with an exposed v8 engine is sure to win Dom Toretto’s approval!

A Dodge Charger Daytona concept that’ll stun automotive lovers with its charming looks and the bold display of the V8 engine under the hood, all exposed for automotive lovers’ attention!

Muscle cars are my weakness – it’s love at first sight, literally, and the Dodge Charger Daytona ranks up, not just on my list. Dom’s signature car in The Fast Saga is the black 1970 Dodge Charger R/T. The car he built with his father appeared in The Fast and the Furious, Fast & Furious, Fast Five, and Furious 7. With its exposed hood, this version of the Dodge Charger is sure to win Dom’s critical approval!

Now, creative designer, Karan Adivi takes us down the memory lane with an incredible CGI render of the retro racer that was way ahead of its time in terms of looks and performance. Yes, the Dodge Charger Daytona gets an incredible orange drape and an exposed hood to show off the 7.2 liter Magnum V8 engine. This modern interpretation of a legendary circuit racer does away with the exaggerated rear wing, and I absolutely love it. Atleast, a 2021 muscle car doesn’t need those old-school wings.

The ride height has been significantly reduced for a sleek aerodynamic form of the Dodge. This should produce enough downforce to keep it sticking to the tarmac on twisty corners with the reassurance of prime grip. Wheels on this stunner have also been replaced with a very boyish character and gorgeous star-shaped shining silver rims. Adivi has tweaked the flowing side body design a bit to give the car a more visually appealing balance as opposed to the original one that had a bit elongated dimension to the front. The wrapped black color strip running the length of the boot and down to the bumpers gives the ride a styling advantage.

This is one Dodge Charger every muscle car lover will glance over and over again, given the perfect combination of color and body shape. I hope Dodge land their eye on this and ponder over a future design for their most successful performance car. Or maybe this one could be the world savior in the upcoming Transformers: Rise of the Beasts!

This Batman 2022-worthy Dodge Charger RT is a racing machine of new extremes!

A reimagined Dodge Charger RT in flashy dark grey hue is the perfect accomplice for the modern-day Batman fighting crime on the streets of Gotham.

Dodge Charger RT is a four-door muscle car that’s on the bucket list of countless automotive lovers. While some are lucky enough to drive one or even own this beast, others still live in the awe of this American iconic car. Right from the late 1960s till date, the seven generations of the muscle car haven’t lost the sublime performance quotient with the unique mix of their striking looks. Both these attributes have stayed the same all these years and understandably Dodge Charger RT has captured the imagination of designers as well.

This shiny dark grey Dodge Charger RT reimagined by Karan Adivi using tools like Blender 3D, Autodesk, and 3ds Max is one to behold. Flawlessly crafted for a 2021 vibe, the muscle car exposes the engine bay in full, to flaunt the V8 powerhouse. Clearly, it is all about performance on the race tracks and streets. Racers who are capable of taking this machine to the limit will enjoy glancing over to the fuming engine at peak performance levels.

That dark color prompts me to imagine it as a minimalistic Batmobile for the modern-day Batman – Edward Nashton (a.k.a. The Riddler) to be precise. Given the rage for muscle cars, this Dodge Charger with a bit more modification will make for the perfect Batmobile in the upcoming The Batman 2022 movie.

The fat wheeled, low rider-like character of this Dodge Charger RT gives it the license to burn the tarmac in a drag race on the streets. Something a motorhead absolutely values in a muscle car of this proportion.

The Nissan GTR Stravinsky brings the edgy Cybertruck aesthetic to an American muscle car design

On paper, the combination sounds weird… but looking at those marvelous renders, it works.

The Nissan GTR Stravinsky was designed inspired by popular Russian composer Igor Stravinsky who had an unusual way of visually expressing his musical compositions. Stravinsky’s unconventional approach to documenting his music was a discordant mess of angled lines, and even though it strayed away from traditional music styles, it made absolute sense… Similarly, the GTR Stravinsky is far from conventional, but it looks like a perfect combination of sinewy grace and aggression, just like any good muscle car.

The Nissan GTR Stravinsky concept comes from the mind of Moscow-based automotive designer Timur Dautov. The idea for the car came to him while watching an episode of Top Gear, when Jeremy Clarkson described the Nissan GTR R35 as something Stravinsky would have designed. Finding that to be an interesting design brief, Dautov began working out what “Stravinsky’s GTR” would really look like. The results amplify the edgy incongruous aesthetic of the GTR R35 to the extent that the car looks too unreal for this world.

The comparison to the Cybertruck is unavoidable. The origami-inspired surfacing, the nude silver paint-job, these details help propel the Stravinsky into a cyberpunkish future. The car’s design feels almost like a really basic low-poly model, and the way it reflects light is rather atypical of most cars which create highlights and shadows that define the car’s curves. The Stravinsky, on the other hand, looks like it’s deliberately breaking the rules. Igor Stravinsky would have loved that. Plus, that silver paint job is perfect for this car – I can’t imagine its design really working with any other color. Perhaps a matte black or a pearlescent purple.

The car manages to find order and beauty in chaos. It uses a paneling-style design but still manages to create an engaging 3D volume. The aesthetic is dominated by straight lines, although designer Timur Dautov carefully uses curved lines and surfaces to create a contrast that looks wonderful. The headlights and taillights are both simple yet iconic in their own right, while the extended lower lip on the front bumper really defines the car’s front as well as its side. Plus, can we just admit that there’s something undeniably hypnotic about those beautiful rims??

Designer: Timur Dautov

This batman-worthy Chevrolet SS concept radiates Batmobile character, sans the all black look!

The 1970 Chevrolet SS is one classic car that serves as the perfect platform for hotrod lovers to modify – and its hot property even to date. The big fat tires, the bulging V8 engine, a distinct street racing character, and the pure joy of driving this mean machine to bamboozle onlookers is something of an addiction. But when the Chevrolet SS gets a makeover that takes it to a god-like level, it is undeniable.

Coming from the designer of the Dodge Demon having a striking Bumblebee character – yes we are talking about Al Yasid – this concept design elevates the muscular charisma of the Chevrolet to a level where it can even be deemed as a Batman worthy ride. Yes, a Batmobile-like extended rear gives it that peculiar crime-fighting machine aesthetic – only if the hotrod could be painted in the signature all-black hue. The look comes courtesy of Yasid’s second layer of modification to the Bandido Chevrolet SS from one of his earlier renders – virtually bettering the remake a step further. According to Yasid, who gave the ride aero feel overall thanks to the over fenders, “The single central fin always work, no doubt about that.”

The mean machine gets a dual-tone color with the hood, front bumper, and front fenders painted in black and the rest of the body getting a light silver treatment. The black dual stripes on the roof and the hint of black on the rear, give this Chevrolet a definite road presence. Of course, the big fat wheels hint at the muscle car’s drag racing DNA, and the presence of a wheelie bar would do this ride the justice. I’m sure it has got the thrust boosters and a fire-spitting exhaust ready for a duel!

Designer: Al Yasid
