Working at our laptops for long periods of time often makes us want to crane our necks and spines to meet our screens.

The CheerPod is a tiny, handheld device that boils the mouse down to its essentials. With a design that’s dictated by the need to be small and remote-like, the CheerPod is to mice what smartphones are to landlines – Portable, rectangular, and heavily feature-laden. It comes with an infrared sensor on its base, like all wireless mice, allowing you to drag your cursor by moving the physical device, but it also allows you to mimic gestures by swiping across screens in mobile and desktop interfaces. The CheerPod, unlike most wireless mice, works without a receiver, connecting directly to laptops, desktops, tablets, and even phones using Bluetooth. It sports a Magic Mouse-inspired touch-enabled surface on its top that lets you click, scroll, zoom, pinch, swipe, and even use multi-touch gestures… sort of like the love-child of a mouse and a trackpad.

When design meets innovation, the result is functional joy served on the platter! The Razer BELiEF designed by creative studio Smooth Way is a testament to that fact. This cool conceptual gadget is a mouse pad that doubles as an external solid-state drive (SSD), something that no one asked for but everyone needed. This super thoughtful product design is the brainchild of designers Jaehee Kim and Seungho Choi who’ve adapted Razer’s philosophy, highlighting the use of technology for digital nomads for this fantastic creation. The idea is relatively straightforward; use the accessory as a mouse pad and when you need to transfer data, attach the cable, and it’s all done. Then, when it is time to take the data home from your office, wrap up the mouse pad, and you’re good to go.

Designed in two parts, a transmitter, and a receiver, MOKiN lets you connect a device to a display without running a clunky, ugly, entangled cable between the two. The transmitter and receiver let you extend your screen wirelessly and seamlessly, offering high-definition images with zero latency. It’s basically an HDMI cable without the cable… or even the HDMI because the MOKiN’s transmitter runs on a USB-C port! This means you can easily connect your laptop, tablet, or smartphone to an external display or a projector in a jiffy without worrying about dongles and such. The receiver end still has standard display ports on it, making it compatible with most TV screens or office projectors… and the fact that the setup is wireless means you don’t need to worry about cable length, or worrying that someone may trip over the cable and ruin your entire presentation.

Barely the size of a bar of soap, the Spruce condenses the extension box into an impressively small, organized little cube that does away with those massive plugs and power bricks. Powered internally by gallium-nitride-based components, the Spruce lets you directly plug up to 4 gadgets into it using the USB-C and USB-A ports on the side, as well as wirelessly charge a phone on its flip-top which transforms into a charging dock. It effectively and efficiently manages power delivery to all your devices, simultaneously, replacing the need to have multiple clunky chargers for each of your devices.

I played piano for a decade and I was so used to reading with my book upright on the music shelf (the little fold-out flap where you keep your music sheet) that I started to keep my textbooks for school upright too – it just felt more convenient! The Piano desk gives that traditional design a nod by incorporating it into your familiar wooden desk with some additional inspiration from the Standard chair by Jean Prouvé that elevates the minimal piece.

The Piano desk created so the designer could experiment with a hybrid material selection and play with interesting visual contrasts. On the one hand, we have metal which is a cold material that is beautifully balanced by the warmer wood. On the other hand, the same metal which allows for a slimmer silhouette is given the sturdiness with the addition of wood. The key factor in the briefing was to design a product with a democratic approach. That is how the minimal desk without any complex production processes was born while still featuring a small design element that other minimal desks didn’t have – the dipped shelf!

It has rounded corners on both wooden and metallic parts which smoothly connects both shapes and materials visually. The choice of discarding drawers led to a different conceptual solution that came from looking at the way some piano players hold their music notes, hence the name. The metal stand is perfect to hold books and documents and it is a fair substitute for the drawer in some cases. You can also add some decor like a succulent or your favorite bobblehead! The Piano desk is perfect for your home office with its pleasing CMF, evergreen character, and improving its integration within the space in the most eloquent way.

Working from home has made us all realize the importance of having a desk and one that actually makes being productive easy! Balance is a desk that was designed for helping you ‘balance’ your everyday life with work. Balance means to keep or bring equilibrium and this design does exactly that by encouraging time away from your screens and creating a more physical connection with your surroundings.

The team wanted to inspire young people to work hard and play hard – a desk that encouraged finding a balance between digital and analog environments. “The idea behind Balance product is to use digital interfaces as inspiration to create a new hybrid experience for the user. The form and modular qualities of the design evoke the digital touchscreen interfaces we use every day but with a tridimensional layer that creates a tactile and tangible experience. This new approach brings builds a bridge between the connectivity and structure of the digital environment and the visual and physical experience of products,” explains the designer duo.

Balance is a multi-functional desk that an creates organized, personalized, and productive work experience. It features a canvas and six types of modules (Surface, White Board, Cork, Kanban, Time, and Shelf) that are magnetically attatched to the canvas. You can pick and choose the modules that work best for your needs, work style, and aesthetics preference while also combining them to be integrated with productivity techniques like Kanban and Pomodoro. Assemble the canvas to the arm by adjusting four screws through the standard VESA monitor connection. A C-shaped clamp connects the arm to the desk. Each module has strong neodymium magnets that connect them to the canvas. Furthermore, the whiteboard comes with an adjustable stand so you can use it on the desk surface for a more natural and ergonomic position to draw/write. Even the light angle can be adjusted by simply moving the module up and down.

Th desk’s canvas is made from high-impact polystyrene and powder-coated steel for a rigid, magnetic, and durable surface to hold the modules. The modules are made from injection-molded HDPE giving them adequate rigidity for the structure, softness to the touch, and satin finish. Balance also lets you customize the finishes/accents with a choice of walnut, oak, and cork. Some finishes use special magnetic paint for a marker-friendly writing surface.

There was a lot of research that went into Balance’s design – the personality, work environments, and workflows of various people in their respective jobs as well as a variety of productivity and work management techniques were studied. The team also analyzed different physical and digital interfaces to understand what products were more effective, easy to use, and popular among people. This final outcome resulted in a product that is flexible, organized, modular, easy to use, and personalized!

It has been one year of WFH and we all have quickly realized the need for furniture that can serve dual purposes and optimize space when we are working at home/living at work. Especially for the urban demographic that lives in compact apartments, it is a challenge to create a home office and also have space left for exercise equipment – another lifestyle change we have adapted to! This innovative desk design uses wall bars at its core with modular attachments that let you use it as your 9-5 set up and then transform it into beast mode.

Panasonic’s 15-min WFH cubicle brings the simplicity of Japanese aesthetic home

If the pandemic has taught me one lesson it is how to optimize your space to live and work. And then leveled up that lesson by adding a sibling into the mix so now I have to optimize a small space for two of us to work and live. Times like this is when I wish I had a little partition so I could focus, it is not so much about wanting a whole room to work but a designated area that puts you in the zone is certainly helpful. Panasonic has designed a simple solution to draw boundaries between work and play without taking up too much space with their Komoru cubicle and I need to order two when they launch on September 18th, 2020!

The Japanese brand has infused this mini cubicle with simple details that help you work efficiently while not adding visual bulk to your interior space. Working from home has had many of us come up with creative ways to stay productive –  this Komoru cubicle saves your time and effort. You can easily assemble the desk and partition at home which are the two main structural components. Unlike a traditional office cubicle, this is four feet tall which allows you to see over the partition walls while still sitting at your desk.

It is a quick way to create a private work corner especially if you are living in a shared space. Playplax toys inspired this sneeze-guard design to add color to social distancing!

Inspired by the 1970’s children’s toy Playplax, Australian designer and architect Zahava Elenberg designed Clikclax so that social distancing at work can be less dreadful, more playful! Elenberg is an award-winning architect with her own furniture and fit-out company Move-in which puts this project directly in the area of her expertise. Clikclax is a modular solution to help maintain social distancing policies in workplaces while being cost-effective.

Born out of necessity and changing times; Clikclax was initially created to aid returning to offices post the pandemic. While working on the prototype for her own office, Elenberg realized that the system’s broad functionality and adaptability could be beneficial in multiple settings. It comes as a fully customizable social distancing kit that can be installed on desks, countertops, and workspaces of different sizes with ease. It has been made light enough to be transportable and each kit consists of a series of 10 interlocking Perspex sheets of varying shapes and sizes, plus six bases that can all be combined. While the focus is its flexibility, durability, and design — Clikclax is fun and can be molded to any company’s or individual’s personality and preferences.

Made in Australia from Perspex – a solid material just like plexiglass, it comes in bright colors inspired by the Australian bush. It reimagines the unimaginative sneeze-guards to be more colorful as if they were toys as they become a part of our daily lives. “Not only has Clikclax been designed to enhance the look of a space, but it’s also super fun to put together and infinitely customizable, with a life of its own — much like the game that inspired it.” She adds: “Clikclax isn’t just for offices, it’s for any communal space; anywhere people want to come together but need to keep safely apart.
