Dodecahedron Cat Litter Box: for Polyhedral Pooping

Litter boxes: they’re generally unattractive. Plus, they smell. That’s two strikes against them already. Looking to change that, the Pet Object Litter Box on Kickstarter is a cat litter box in the shape of a dodecahedron to compliment the rest of your tasteful geometric home decor. You do have other tasetful geometric home decor, right? I hope it isn’t just milk crates and pizza boxes like my place.

The Pet Object Litter Box features a front entry cats have to step up and out of to help prevent rogue litter from tracking into your house. It has a removable top with a charcoal filter, integrated storage on the back for its litter scoop, and an optional litter mat. The entire top half comes off for easy scooping, which is good because the last thing you want from a litter box is difficult scooping.

The Pet Object Litter Box comes in three colors: Sand, Wimbledon White, and Translucent Amber. Personally, I’m going to go with the translucent amber one. That way, I can pretend the cat poops inside are really mosquitos trapped there hundreds of million years ago, carrying the DNA necessary to clone dinosaurs. Scooping just got a whole lot more fun!

This minimalist litter box is designed to be inconspicuous to fit into any modern home

Hidden is an unconventional litter box conceptualized to be inconspicuous by design and fit into any modern home.

The hardest part of owning a cat has to be taking care of the litter box. Cats mostly fend for and take care of themselves, but we’re in charge of the litter. Litter boxes aren’t designed for aesthetics, so cat owners usually have to find inconspicuous spots to keep the litter box out of sight and out of mind.

Designer: YUPD

It’s never a cute look to have a litter box in the bathroom or even the basement, but our cats gotta go when they gotta go. Designers with the studio YUPD took it upon themselves to conceptualize a litter box called Hidden that’s discreet by design, so it can be placed anywhere in the house.

Inspired by interior design elements that prioritize coziness, softness, and neat lines, Hidden’s main appeal comes through subtle detailing. Propped up by an elevated basin that contains the litter, the base of Hidden features rounded edges and a cloud-like thickness.

While the weighty base gives Hidden a soft and minimalist appeal, it also offers cats some privacy while they’re taking care of business. Enveloped by translucent glass partitions, cats can rest assured they’re doing number two free from the look of prying eyes. Supported by an off-white base and foggy glass covering, Hidden can fit into any room in the modern home.

Through prioritizing privacy, functionality, and aesthetics, YUPD conceptualized a toilet for cats that doubles as an interior design element. Like many modern appliances, Hidden’s main appeal is its discreet personality so that our home can remain clutter-free and co-habitable without sacrificing our personal freedom and comforts.

This skylight-enabled litter box doubles up as furniture to please cats and their owners

Chris Granneberg designed an enclosed litter box, available for purchase through Cat Person, that’s built to please cats and their owners.

While enclosed litter boxes are great for cat owners, cats seem to have some trouble getting used to them. Cats are temperamental creatures and that means their litter boxes have to fit the bill. For cats to feel comfortable enough to use their littler box, it has to accommodate different needs.

There has to be enough headroom for cats to be able to sit down and turn around easily, there should also be a means for light to enter so cats aren’t going in the dark, and airflow is a must to ventilate the inside of enclosed litter boxes. Cat Person, a lifestyle brand for cats and their owners, recently teamed up with Chris Granneberg, an industrial designer, to develop an enclosed litter box that’s built to please booths cats and their owners.

With Cat Person, Granneberg set out to design a litter box that appears like a piece of furniture to blend in with other interior design elements. To achieve this, Granneberg outfitted the Cat Person litter box with a wooden top lid that gives it the same appeal as a small side table. Ensuring casts enjoy enough airflow and light while taking care of business, Granneberg punctuated the wooden top lid with circular cutouts, creating a ventilated and well-lit interior space.

Granneberg also designed the litter box with larger-than-average dimensions to allow bigger cats to have enough room to sit and turn around with comfort. An ergonomic and durable scooper accompanies the litter box that comes with a handy storing mechanism to avoid the eyesore of litter dropping to the floor. Joining forces with Cat Person, this collaboration marks another step toward Cat Person’s commitment “to make life with cats even more awesome,” through whole cat care.

The built-in scooper holder solves the issue of litter dropping to the floor.

The entrance is big enough even for larger cats to move in and out of with ease.

This IKEA-worthy self-cleaning litter box is the best looking design we’ve ever seen!

For the most part, cats are self-sufficient creatures. They bathe themselves, use the litter box anytime they need it, and they’d feed themselves too if they lived outdoors. Sometimes it seems like the only duty we’re in charge of is cleaning up their litter boxes. There are even automatic litter boxes that rake away our cats’ business as soon as they leave the litter box. Adding his design to the mix, Kevin Lau introduces Micromew, a fully automatic intelligent litter box that takes care of number two so we don’t have to.

Dismantling and understanding the automatic litter boxes that are currently on the market, Kevin Lau aimed to make his intelligent litter box a bit more approachable for cats. Augmented litter boxes don’t fit into tiny spaces and might feel daunting for smaller cats to enter and do their business, so Lau first set out to create Micromew with a reduction in size. Then, the height of the entrance needed to be more appropriate for cats of all sizes and ages, so Lau placed the entrance on Micromew low to the ground and gave it a round shape for cats of all sizes to enter freely. To make his litter box a bit more human-friendly, Lau turned to smart technology and outfitted the litter box with an automatic cleaning system that detects when a cat has done their business and cleans up the area as soon as they leave.

Inspired by the design language of home appliance machinery that leans on simple usability and clean, rounded edges, Lau shaped Micromew in a warm, inviting globular form. Gleaming in white plastic or metal, Lau aimed to size down Micromew to appeal to cats’ tendency to find themselves resting in cramped spaces. Lau also situated the dual-motor on the side of Micromew to maintain the entrance’s reduced height. Quick-release triggers and knobs allow users to clean the litter box inside and outside with more thorough attention following the cat’s use of the litter box.

Designer: Kevin Lau

Comprising a globular structure, Micromew uses the design language of common household appliances to fit into any room.

Kevin Lau researched litter boxes currently on the market to determine their trouble spots.

Micromew measures a shorter height with an inviting round entrance to appeal to cats’ love for cramped spaces.

Positioning the dual-motor on the side of Micromew allowed Kevin Lau to reduce the litter box’s entrance height.

Quick-release triggers allow for the litter box to be completely opened and thoroughly cleaned.

Lau found that by positioning the litter box’s dual-motor on its rear side, the litter box’s size could be reduced.

An intuitive design makes Micromew that much more human-friendly as well.

This smart litter box uses AI recognition + sensors to prevent 7 common cat illnesses!

Ever felt like life would be complete if only our pets could talk? I always wonder how that would go – they would be able to express what they want to eat, how they are feeling, if they want to go out to play, and when they are feeling sick. As a cat owner myself, one of the biggest worries is that my cat can’t tell me when he’s feeling ill. Naturally, I would want to help as soon as he feels low but realistically we can’t be there monitoring them 24×7. Enter LuluPet – a smart litter box that uses AI recognition to detect symptoms of the top 7 common cat illnesses! Designs like this bridge the language barrier between our cats and us (for obvious reasons)!

LuluPet is the first smart cat litter box that uses excretory image recognition to track your cat’s health with 95% accuracy – yes, it means through their potty habits. More than 30% of the cats suffer from urinary tract diseases in their life and pet owners don’t catch it till it’s late. Cats inherently hide their pain so it makes it even more difficult to spot what is wrong especially with illnesses like kidney disease, heart disease, and urinary tract problems early on. With LuluPet you have more control over your cat’s health and you will be alerted of any irregularity in real-time whether it is a minor issue or a potentially major one. LuluPet uses AI image recognition to help identify urinary tract problems and a built-in camera, infrared sensor, and AI chips to analyze different types of feces. It distinguishes feces using the Bristol Stool Scale and combines with medical data from pet hospitals to identify symptoms of cat diseases which sets it apart from the traditional litter boxes that simply detect the weight of the feces.

The double door design helps reduce fallen litter when cats finish their business and the front entry is ideal for kittens and senior cats who are unable to jump constantly. It has an easy to clean drawer and works with all kinds of poop be it scented, unscented, clumpy, or not clumpy. Lulupet also has enough room for your pet, the hexagonal shape creates the most internal space for your cat while keeping it manageable for every size household. A nice detail is that you can keep the litter box completely closed or semi-open depending on what you and your cat prefer (maybe you both love the blue litter box more?). LuluPet makes it easier for you to keep your pet’s health in top condition without feeling guilty or being constantly worried about them not being able to tell you what is wrong and nipping issues in the bud if any. It is also compatible with Google Home and Alexa so even if you forget to check the app, your virtual assistant will send you a reminder.

The litter box is integrated with a smart app so you will get real-time alerts from the LuluPet and can act quickly when needed. This also saved pet owners from excessive vet visits and the constant worry is your cat is alright, but with LuluPet both you and your feline friend can sleep easy. Stool and urine analysis is the most straightforward way of detecting a wide range of feline diseases. LuluPet has an in-depth, cat pathology database with clinical data from more than 6,000 cats and automatically cross-references the details to ensure your cat’s health is in the normal range. Health data varies for different breeds depending on cat age, but our AI Autonomous Learning Mechanism gives a custom data model for each cat so they get a report uniquely tailored to their situation. AI accurately monitors cat weight, urine volume, stool volume, excretion duration, excretion frequency, excretion appearance, and color type – so you know what is truly happening on the inside even if they can’t express it.

LuluPet – Cat Health Monitoring Made Simple

LuluPet is the first smart cat litter box using excretory image recognition to monitor your cat’s health through their potty habits with 95% accuracy. You get real-time alerts from the LuluPet App so you know if there’s an irregularity in your pet’s loo time as soon as possible.

Early Detection Can Increase Your Cat’s Lifespan

Cats have a deeply-rooted natural instinct to hide their pain, making it difficult to spot the signs of illnesses like kidney disease, heart disease and urinary tract problems early on. Lulupet gives you more control over your cat’s wellbeing by alerting you of potential issues the moment it detects an irregularity. Early treatment can help prevent a minor health issue from developing into an irreversible condition.

Stool and urine analysis has become the most straightforward way of detecting a wide range of feline diseases. LuLuPet uses artificial intelligence to monitor and analyze your cat’s health through stool image, weight change and excretory behaviors.

Highly-accurate Excretory Recognition System

LuluPet uses AI image recognition to help identify urinary tract problems and a built-in camera, infrared sensor, and AI chips to analyze different types of feces. It distinguishes feces using the Bristol Stool Scale and combines with medical data from pet hospitals to identify symptoms of cat diseases.

360 View of Your Cat’s Health & Wellbeing

LuluPet keeps a complete record of your cat’s daily toilet schedule and overall health, giving you an extensive health monitoring system.

Real-time Alerts – When the data is abnormal, you get a push notification so you never miss the crucial moment to take your baby to the vet.

Failsafe Poop Discovery System – In the off chance that there’s an unrecognizable condition, each cat’s excretion behavior is also stored in a video for your own review.

Multi-cat Identification

LuluPet identifies up to 15 individual cats by memorizing faces, fur colors and different recorded data per cat, like weight. This way, every cat’s toilet schedule is recorded individually, without each cat needing a special collar or attachment for identification.

If you have two similar looking kitties, no problem! LuluPet uses their weight difference to determine who’s who—as long as it’s more than 0.11 lbs (50 grams), they can be distinguished!

Customizable Box Design for Every Cat

LuluPet developed parts that are easy to assemble and customize so every cat gets its purrfect setup—whether that’s an open-air litter box, semi-closed or closed.

Double-door Design – The top exit helps reduce fallen litter when cats finish their business and the front entry is ideal for kittens and senior cats who are unable to jump constantly.

Works With Any Cat Litter – Scented, unscented, clumping, not clumping—your kitty has preferences and LuluPet works with them all.

Easy-clean Drawer – Cleaning a litter box has never been easier with our handy, pull-out drawer design! No need to disassemble or practically climb inside, just pull out the drawer and scoop or empty.

Works With Google Home or Amazon Alexa

You can connect it with your Google Home or Amazon Alexa and get daily updates on your cat’s health without even pressing a button.

A Scandinavian-styled minimalist cat litter-box that puts IKEA’s furniture to shame

Meet Jackson Cunningham. You could broadly call him a furniture designer, but his job description is a little more specific and a lot more obscure. Jackson designs furniture for cats.

Realizing that readily available cat litter-boxes are either boring looking plastic trays or over-engineered, IoT-powered poop-shrines, Jackson went ahead and fashioned himself something that catered to his cat, as well as his space. The Cove is every bit a part of your household’s decor. It isn’t too ugly-looking that you’d hide it a corner of your house, or too advanced that it uses sensors to track your cat’s bowel movements for you to show your vet. The Cove is furniture that’s designed for not just cats, but also for the humans who want to have well-designed products in their well-decorated homes.

The Cove is a minimalist Scandinavian-styled litter box that complements your home decor. Made from non-toxic recycled plastic, the litter-box comes with a simple, clean, off-white design that integrates a scooper along with a dust-pan and brush into its form. The box comes with vertical walls that prevent litter from accidentally spilling out, or the tray being overturned, along with a silicone base that keeps the tray from accidentally slipping or moving around the floor. Designed as much for humans as for cats, the Cove’s integrated scooper docks securely within the box, and comes with a sturdy silicone grip for easy scooping as well as a carefully designed scoop mesh that cleanly and efficiently sieves through the litter to collect the cat-waste. In the event that some litter does spill out, the Cove’s dust-pan and brush let you easily clean up the spill and dump the litter right back where it belongs.

Available in regular and large sizes, the Cove is just one of Tuft & Paw’s many design-forward furniture solutions for cats and owners alike. Designing everything from cat-enclosures to scratching-trees and even elaborate jungle-gyms for feline friends, Jackson Cunningham and his team of designers and engineers partner with feline behaviorists to create fun, functional, and fashionable feline furniture that even the hooman and the planet will appreciate!

Cove: The Litter Box Re-engineered

Built by designers, engineers, and cat behaviorists, the Cove is a simple, beautiful litter box with an integrated scoop, dustpan, and handbrush.

Total Litter Lineup

During their research they found that the litterbox tools are as important to user satisfaction as the box itself. Yet, most litterboxes include, as an afterthought, a cheap flimsy scoop that ends up just being tossed on the floor beside the box. Another common user frustration is the litter scatter caused by a cat’s coming and going.

Why not engineer a litterbox with well-integrated tools that address the realities of maintaining a litterbox?

The Cove includes a scoop, dustpan, and hand brush that fit perfectly into an accessible top compartment.

Tidy, scoop and store.

Cove’s shape is incredibly simple and open – there are no unnecessary bends or hard-to-get-to corners. For the material itself, they considered a variety of options, but ultimately landed on recycled plastic because it’s durable and especially easy to clean.

Details You’ll Love

Easy to clean with a single wipe. No nooks, crannies or tiny parts for germs and odors to hide.

Scoop shape matches the exact contours of the box. No digging or awkward angles.

Smarter, faster scooping, for the win. Engineered with angled slots to make litter sifting as fast and minimal as possible. The handle and grip feel great in your hands, and it all slides easily back into the box for safe keeping.

Easy-to-clean tool storage. Pop it out, clean it up, put it back. Simple.

Compatible with all clumping litter. No need to switch things up.

Easy to grab and move. Grab from the base handle and go when it’s time for a deep clean or move.

Stays in place. A silicon base that grips the floor to stay put even when cats are on the go.

Cove is the perfect size. The dimensions of the box are 22″ x 16″ x 6″. Cove’s walls are vertical – so it actually feels bigger and more spacious for a cat despite taking up a similar footprint.

At CES 2020, we saw just about every product evolve into a smarter version of itself. Let your imagination run wild with everyday items as you imagine each one of them transforms into part robots. I am going to reveal the best feature first because it truly takes care of the most annoying task when you have a pet – cleaning the litter box. Yes, this AI litter box is self-cleaning! After your cat leaves the box, iKuddle will separate the waste from clean litter, you can initiate this through your app and it will notify you once the cleaning is complete. After that, you can tap the auto-packing button on the app or the litter box and it will seal the waste in a small bag which you can discard at your convenience. This feature makes me feel like we have truly arrived in the new decade!

iKuddle’s litter box also has a deodorizing system with a fully enclosed carbon filter that works for 5 minutes after your cat leaves the box, eliminating 80%-90% of litter box odors. It also comes with a health app that uses the sensing system to monitor the frequency your cat uses the litter box. The data is collected and displayed as a bar chart on the app, letting you know if your cat is in good shape. This smart litter box is eco-conscious and reduces litter usage by 30% saving you time and money.

Unlike other self-cleaning litter boxes, this AI-enabled pet product has detachable components such as the scooper and litter box enclosure which makes it easy to maintain. It also has a plug-in charging cable with a battery that lasts up to two weeks so you can travel with your cat and be stress-free. iKuddle makes me want to get a cat just so I have a reason to buy a smart litter box for it!

LavvieBot S is an IoT enabled, self-cleaning litter box for cats

When my son rescued two-month-old Clio (our current pet) from being pecked by crows, we took to her immediately. Although deaf, this munchkin knew her ways around ‘hooomans’ and had us wrapped around her little claws! As I had never kept a cat at home, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they automatically do their stuff (pooping and peeing) in a litter box, and don’t need training!

Truth is, I’ve always been a doggy-mommy and had dogs as pets. I know how painful it is to walk them every day – sometimes you’re just too tired! To my delight, Clio took to her litter box in a jiffy and it’s been two years now, the only complaint that I have is, that it needs to be manually cleaned. I’m looking at switching to automated litter boxes, and the LavvieBot S looks to be a good fit.

Keeping the litter box clean is very important for the health of your cat, and I know how lazy we ‘hooomans’ gets. Cats are self-sufficient beings, let’s not stress them out or keep their litter boxes dirty, instead get the next-generation model of LavvieBot.

LavvieBot S is the smartest litter box and is integrated with IoT functions. It automatically cleans your cat’s litter and refills it from the storage bin. You can check the status of your cat’s business (bowel movements) in real-time via the App ‘PurrSong’. The one thing that you can be assured, is that the refilling of litter will not happen, if your cat is in the bin. As the cat enters, the sensors capture the movement, and hold-off refilling.

This self-cleaning litter box is a flipping joy for the humans!

One of the undisputable downsides to having a house-cat is the need for a litter tray and everything that comes with it. The unenviable task of emptying the litter tray is a messy, odor-creating and inconvenient one can make you question the up-sides to being the carer of the fluffy creatures. Fresh Flip is here to change that… as it becomes the first litter box that can clean itself in just a matter of seconds!

The three-step process makes the undesirable process a breeze; simply flip the contents of the box into the strainer, remove the collected waste, and then flip the collected sand back into the litter box… it really is that simple! There are no fragile components, electricity-requiring motors or complex mechanisms to go wrong, just a simple, clever and user-friendly process that works in the real-world! If that wasn’t enough, it also features powerful deodorant that is automatically discharged to mask any unwanted smells… purr-fect!

Sharp’s Smart Litter Box Monitors Your Cat’s Health Through Its Bathroom Habits

Changing a cat’s litter box is a nasty chore. You’re asking an animal to continually poop and pee in a box until it is so nasty that you have to change it. What’s wrong with us? That’s why some people teach their cats to use the toilet like a civilized being. Sharp’s Pet Care Monitor is a litter box that monitors your pet’s bathroom habits and sends the information to an artificial intelligence system via the internet.

The system then analyzes the data it collects to make sure your cat isn’t suffering from any detectable kidney or urinary tract issues etc. It will look at the cat’s weight, urine volume and frequency, and length of time spent on the toilet. The AI will then analyze that data like a vet and let you know if Fluffy has any problems.

If there is any abnormality found, like spending an unusually long time on the toilet or the quantity of urine is abnormally large or small, the owner will be alerted via an app on their smartphone. It can even be set to handle several different cats in your home by detecting a special collar each cat wears.

At this point the smart litter box is Japan-bound, where it will sell for ¥24,800 (~$226 USD), plus there’s a small fee of ¥324 (~$3 USD) per month for the Cocoro Pet remote monitoring app.

Great, so now you can be a hypochondriac about your cat’s health too.
