Eco-Friendly Shampoo Bottle Dissolves After Use, Leaving Zero Waste

In a world grappling with the environmental repercussions of excessive plastic use, the need for sustainable alternatives has never been more pressing. Packaging waste, predominantly composed of plastic, poses a significant threat to our ecosystems. As we seek innovative solutions for a healthier planet, Philippine creative agency BBDO Guerrero has taken a bold step by sculpting vibrant shampoo bars into Dissolving Bottles, presenting an ingenious solution to the pervasive issue of plastic pollution.

Designer: BBDO Guerrero

The Dissolving Bottle shampoo bars are not just a practical alternative; they are a symbol of commitment to a sustainable and plastic-free future. The concept is simple yet revolutionary – as users lather up and wet the Dissolving Bottle, it gradually diminishes in size until it disappears, leaving no trace behind. This innovative approach eliminates the need for traditional toiletry containers, offering a convenient and eco-friendly solution for daily hygiene routines.

Introduced in 2021, the Dissolving Bottle has recently expanded its reach to several countries in Europe through a partnership with LUORO GmbH, a Cologne-based e-commerce company. The bottle-shaped shampoo bars, distributed under LUORO’s Plain B brand, are not just a visual marvel but also carry a powerful message. By adopting the familiar shape of a typical shampoo container, BBDO Guerrero aims to make the transition from plastic bottles to shampoo bars seamless for users.

David Guerrero, Creative Chairman at BBDO Guerrero, emphasizes that the Dissolving Bottle was conceptualized as a response to the escalating plastic pollution crisis. The personal care industry, a major contributor to environmental issues, produces over 500 billion single-use plastic items annually. To address this problem, BBDO Guerrero chose a design that not only promotes sustainability but also incorporates witty slogans on the shampoo bars, such as ‘Recedes quicker than your hair,’ ‘vanishes into thin air,’ ‘leaves nothing behind,’ and ‘guaranteed not to last,’ serving as comical reminders of the benefits of choosing plastic-free alternatives.

While the environmental impact of Dissolving Bottle Shampoo Bars is undeniably positive, questions arise regarding their commercial viability. The entire bottle serving as solidified shampoo requires careful handling, as exposure to water could initiate premature dissolution. To address this logistical concern, there might be a need to explore alternative packaging materials which will be interesting to learn.

Moreover, the shift from traditional soaps to liquid body washes, driven by ease of use and convenience, poses a challenge for the widespread adoption of solid shampoo bars. The need to incorporate essential information typically printed on packaging into the Dissolving Bottle’s design further adds a layer of complexity.

Marketing strategies play a pivotal role in bridging this gap, and the strategies employed by BBDO Guerrero are commendable and hold the potential to capture consumer attention. Offering an intriguing narrative that aligns with environmental consciousness.

As these Dissolving Bottle shampoo bars make their way into the European market, priced at a reasonable starting point of 5.99 EUR, it remains to be seen whether consumers will embrace this innovative solution to reduce plastic waste. The success of such eco-friendly initiatives depends not only on their environmental benefits but also on their ability to cater to the evolving preferences and habits of consumers. The Dissolving Bottle represents a commendable step towards a more sustainable future, and its journey in the consumer market will undoubtedly be closely watched.

This sleek Shower Filter purifies your Tap Water, removing hard chemicals that cause hair loss or skin problems

A simple attachment that sits between your water outlet and shower head, the SHOWR instantly filters hard water, turning it into drinking water. It removes all the minerals and chemicals that otherwise cause skin rashes or acne as well as dandruff, premature greying, and hair fall. The SHOWR fits seamlessly into your shower setup, and can be installed on your own with no professional help or tools. Each SHOWR also comes with a see-through window that lets you see when the built-in shower filter needs replacing, which can be done in a matter of seconds!

Designer: Hojoong Kim

The reality with water (coming from someone whose city is notorious for its hard water) is that just because it’s clear or odorless doesn’t mean it’s safe to drink, cook with, or bathe with. Hard water can look deceptively clean, but will usually have harsh minerals, dissolved solids, chemicals like chlorine, and other sediments in it – stuff that your eyes would never see. Hard water usually flows right from the tap in most cities, and needs to be filtered if you want to drink or cook with it, or even wash your clothes or bathe. The chemicals in hard water can ruin your clothes, making them fade faster or even reducing the effectiveness of your detergent… so imagine what they do to your skin and hair. Hard water can accelerate hairfall, can cause flakes and dandruff buildup in your scalp, and can prevent your shampoo or soap from lathering up. A lot of people have hard water sensitivity too, causing their skin to dry up or  break out in rashes or acne. That’s where something like SHOWR comes in.

NSF 42 Filters – Compromised of 500 layers of fine mesh fibers, their filter is capable of capturing ultra-fine particles ranging from 1 to 5 micrometers.

From microscopic plastics to harmful pollutants, nothing gets past their filter.

Designed to purify your tap water in real-time, SHOWR uses NSF 42 filters that trap sediments and catch hard chemicals and deposits like chlorine and iron, giving you ‘soft water’ that you can bathe with and drink too. Unlike most shower filters that occupy a significant amount of space and require a plumber to install, SHOWR is a slick, chrome-plated cylindrical entity that fits right between the water outlet and your shower head, barely occupying any space. Water that exits the shower head is forced to pass through the cylinder, which contains the NSF 42 filter. The filter purifies the water as it passes through, and with enough days, begins turning brown to show you all the dirt it’s trapped. When the filter gets dirty enough that you feel the need to replace it, simply pop it out and add a new filter in sort of like replacing batteries in a remote control.

Easy Installation – Just unscrew your showerhead, attach SHOWR and screw your showerhead back on.

Replace your Filter Wtih Ease – Replace the filter within seconds, just like changing a light bulb.

The design of SHOWR has quite a ‘necessity being the mother of invention’ backstory. Hojoong Kim arrived in the USA from South Korea to attend university, only to realize that the tap water in his new home was causing skin dryness and other problems. The reason? A lack of shower filters to reduce the limestone and chlorine in the water. Shower filters were pretty much a standard fitting in all South Korea homes, but weren’t really popular in the west. Kim decided to design his own shower filter, making it integrate well into the wall-mounted showers found in most US homes. The resulting SHOWR comes with a patented design that works in the US as well as worldwide, installing in mere minutes and lasting for decades with periodic filter replacement.

Fits Any and All Showerheads – With the universal connections, it fits any standard shower arm and shower head.

Each SHOWR comes with three NSF 42 filters, which are RoHS-compliant and CE certified by EU’s highest authorities. Once installed, the filter works instantly and purifies any kind of tap water, removing contaminants of all kinds to give you water clean enough to even drink. The clear window on the side also serves as a neat visual indication for when you need to replace the filter, ensuring that your tap water is pristine… because your body absorbs more water in the shower than it does through drinking!

1. The Tandem Shower

The Tandem Shower is an easy-to-install no-plumber-required shower accessory that attaches directly to your existing showerhead. The accessory separates and distributes your shower into two distinct streams. It is the perfect shower accessory for couples, although it’ll be great for solo showers as well since it provides a luxurious, immersive 360° shower experience.

Why is it noteworthy?

The innovative shower has been amped with an adjustable design, which allows it to fit in most bathrooms. It can be attached directly to your pre-existing showerhead’s water inlet, enabling the water supply to be effectively distributed between the two showerheads. There is a valve present on the Tandem Shower which lets you switch between the two showerheads, or run them both simultaneously.

What we like

  • The Tandem showerhead also comes mounted on a ball and socket joint, letting you angle-adjust your water flow as you would with the existing shower
  • The high-velocity setting in particular delivers nearly two times more force than standard showerheads

What we dislike

  • It’s an added installation, making it difficult for people living in rental apartments

2. The Redesigned Robe 2.0

The Redesigned Robe 2.0 by Casamera perfectly merges the durability of century-old practices with the performance and versatility of modern-day engineering. It is the ideal clothing item to pull on after a long shower. You can wear it indoors, or take it along with you to the coolest pool parties, hot tubs, and ice baths.

Why is it noteworthy?

The Robe 2.0 promises to be the most versatile bathrobe you’ll ever see. It is fast-drying, breathable, and also buttery soft on your skin – making it the coziest bathrobe to wear all year long. It keeps you cool in the summer, and warm in the winter. It’s been made from 100% sustainably-sourced cotton. It has a clean and minimalist look with no visible stitches.

What we like

  • Has a lightening fast dry-time
  • Features a double-duty hoodie

What we dislike

  • The sizes are standard – not different for males and females, which may cause a mismatch for people who are just wider, rather than wider and taller.

3. The Jacqueline Tap

The Jacqueline tap by Italian bathroom and kitchen brand Gessi caught my eye since it’s made from Bamboo. The tap is made from segments of bamboo, and crafted with immense precision and attention to detail. Gessi wanted to capture the care and concern given in the manufacturing of high-end fashion accessories in the form of a faucet.

Why is it noteworthy?

Bamboo is a sustainable, flexible, weather-resistant, and strong material that is a boon to the planet. It is a great alternative to the marble or concrete faucets we usually install in our bathrooms, hence making the Jacqueline tap a sustainable and eco-friendly fixture for your bathroom

What we like

  • Sustainable and eco-friendly
  • Extremely good-looking

What we dislike

  • There is not much information on how to maintain the tap and keep it in a good + clean condition

4. The Plunge Cold and Hot Water Therapy Tub

The Plunge cold and hot water therapy tub provides you with cold clean water whenever you want it! It utilizes powerful cooling, filtration, and sanitation to offer you the best quality of water, making it much superior to your typical ice bath or chest freezer.

Why is it noteworthy?

The super cool water therapy tub is safe for both indoors and outdoors, and installation is super easy, you simply plug and plunge. You fill up the Plunge tub with a hose, turn it on, set your temp, and get ready to relax and unwind.

What we like

  • Designed to be installed anywhere
  • Can withstand all elements – rain or shine

What we dislike

  • Space-consuming + bulky design

5. Vappeby Speaker

IKEA’s latest VAPPEBY speaker looks like a tiny bar of soap! However, this compact soap-sized device was designed for a water-friendly environment, making it the perfect companion for your shower karaoke sessions.

Why is it noteworthy?

The adorable VAPPEBY speaker features a rather charming design that is inspired by a simple bar of soap. It features a square shape with rounded edges, and is available in a wide variety of pretty pastel colors, adding a touch of fun and frolic to your everyday shower experiences.

What we like

  • To complete the look, the VAPPEBY comes with a woven cord lanyard, allowing you to hang it up anywhere you please, be it on your showerhead or a nearby hook

What we dislike

  • Nothing is spoken about the repairable nature of this design

6. The Kohler Statement VES Showerhead and Handshower

The Kohler Statement VES Showerhead and Handshower are designed to make your showers efficient and luxurious. They feature a Variable Eco-Spray that uses up to 40% less water than the standard 2.5gpm showerhead.

Why is it noteworthy?

Despite using lesser water, these products provided a powerful rinsing coverage, while dispensing warm water, owing to their low-flow spray. The Statement collection also utilizes Kohler’s Katalyst air-induction tech, which infuses air into the water droplets, allowing them to feel bigger, and retain heat longer.

What we like

  • Height adjustable and rotates at 360°
  • Minimal and sleek products perfect for contemporary bathrooms

What we dislike

  • A bit heftily priced

7. Block

Finland-based design company Woodio designed a toilet built entirely from wood composite. The wood composite was used to create everything from the seat to the toilet. Wood composite is supposed to be a pretty sustainable material since it produces 99% fewer emissions in its production than ceramics.

Why is it noteworthy?

Called ‘Block’, the toilet was built using a material that Woodie founder Petro Lahtinen developed himself. The material is supposed to be 80 percent wood by volume and was created using locally sourced aspen and offcuts from the Finnish forest industry.

What we like

  • The composite used is waterproof and “practically unbreakable”

What we dislike

  • Woodio claims that the material generates 99% lesser emissions as compared to ceramics, however, this claim does not involve any emissions from material sourcing or disposal, which do have a major impact on the complete footprint of a product

8. Hitachi New Shower Heater Concept

This Hitachi New Shower Heater concept is designed to be a simple and unobtrusive device that offers the simplism and minimalism of Japanese aesthetics while laying an emphasis on safety. It provides you with the perfect amount of heat!

Why is it noteworthy?

The shower heater features a central circle which functions as the main”hearth”, and is connected to the power button. It is also the knob that determines how hot or cold should the water be. It also has a back design that is able to hide the piping details and gives you a slimmer heater that should not get in the way of your other bathroom activities.

What we like

  • Waterproof and will not put you in danger of electrical shock

What we dislike

  • It’s still a concept!

9. At The Same Time Body Dryer

At the Same Time Dryer Concept Image

At the Same Time Dryer Concept Photos

The ‘At the Same Time Body Dryer’ is designed to make public bath facilities more convenient, fast, and efficient. It supports speedy bathing and drying, as more people can dry off at the same time.

Why is it noteworthy?

The round square shape of the dryer allows four persons to stand and be dried off. The four parts are separated by an opaque transition that offers privacy. They may be facing each other but their private parts are still covered. The footrest on the whole features concentric circles that provide a softer surface for the feet. The footrest is divided into four equal parts and each part can be removed for cleaning. The water doesn’t stay on the footrest as it drips.

What we like

  • Hastens drying time
  • Makes public bath facilities more convenient and efficient

What we dislike

  • While public bathing is popular in the East, not everyone will feel comfortable standing so close to dry off

10. The Smart Shower

The Smart Shower was designed by Natasha Jadhav to be a smart, interactive, and good-looking shower that strikes the perfect balance between aesthetics and functionality. The design includes an actual shower on the ceiling of the bathroom with a sleek white console that consists of panels, a hand shower, and a pressure-sensitive panel on the floor.

Why is it noteworthy?

Did you know that around 2.5 gallons of water are wasted at home while taking a shower? Imagine the amount of water wasted after an entire month or year of showering. Tremendous, and quite alarming! Now, showering isn’t something we can particularly avoid, hence designer Natasha Jadhav created a ‘Smart Shower’.

What we like

  • Pressure-sensitive floor panel that turns off the water once you’re done showering
  • Intuitive controls
  • Sleek + aesthetic design

What we dislike

  • The shower automatically switches off after five minutes of zero activity – the waiting period could be shorter

Top 10 products for your bathroom desiged to make bathtime the best time of your day

One of my favorite times of the day is bathtime! As, we’ve grown older and life has gotten super hectic, bathtime is that precious hour of the day when we can fully indulge in self-care, and pamper ourselves. Whether that’s in the form of a bubble bath or a long warm shower! And having a beautifully designed bathroom with thoughtful designs will only amplify this special time of the day. These products can make a huge difference in our everyday bathroom experience. They not only help us carry out our personal and grooming activities even more easily, but they also help us take care of ourselves and our washrooms a little better. From a drop-dead gorgeous bathtub made using translucent resin to a cleverly designed dual-sided shower scrubber – these well-designed products are all you need to elevate your daily bathtime!

1. The Tandem Shower

Designed to attach directly to your existing showerhead, the Tandem Shower is an easy-to-install no-plumber-required shower accessory that distributes your shower into two distinct streams. Although perfect for couples, the Tandem Shower also makes a pretty compelling case for solo showers with a much more luxurious, immersive 360° shower experience (think Ross Geller in the tanning booth).

Why is it noteworthy?

The Tandem Shower comes with an adjustable design, allowing it to fit in most bathrooms. It connects directly to your existing showerhead’s water inlet, which effectively distributes the water supply between the two showerheads. A valve on the Tandem Shower then lets you effectively switch between either of the showerheads or run both simultaneously. It’s worth noting that the Tandem Shower was also designed keeping other considerations in mind – for starters, it comes with a flexible hose that lets you mount your Tandem with plenty of clearance, allowing for a second showerhead that’s much higher than your current one (especially useful for taller people).

2. Amore

British bathroom brand Lusso recently launched the Amore. What makes Amore so special? Probably the fact that it looks drop-dead gorgeous.

Why is it noteworthy?

Designed to make a dramatic and magnificent impression, the Amore is a freestanding bathtub made from translucent resin. Designed by the Lusso founder Wayne Spriggs, the choice of material for Amore was truly ingenious. It’s what imparts the bathtub with its truly unique and awe-spiring appearance.

What we like

  • It’s a far cry from Lusso’s usual bathtubs which are built using stone or marble

What we dislike

  • Space-consuming design, not suited for smaller washrooms

3. Vis-à-vis and Rendez-vous

I’ve realized that filling up your bathroom with thoughtful designs, only makes your time in it much more comfortable and smooth. And this collection of bathroom seating by Italian bathroom brand Agape strives to be exactly that! Designed by Marco Carini for Agape, the collection includes two seating designs created from recycled cork.

Why is it noteworthy?

The first design is called Vis-à-vis, and it is a light and sturdy stool that also doubles up as a tiny side table. The second design is Rendez-vous, and it’s a bench that serves as an extensive seating option for bathroom users. Both designs function as comfortable spots to sit and relax in the bathroom.

What we like

  • Crafted from recycled cork
  • The curving form resembles someone smiling

What we dislike

  • Not suited for bathrooms with a smaller footprint

4. The Bell Jar

This unique concept for a showerhead and bath spout is named after the book that inspired it. The Bell Jar is a showerhead with a hidden cable and a fixed adaptor that can turn it into a calmer and single water spout in case you want to take a bath instead of a shower.

Why is it noteworthy?

The designer says she was inspired by the allegory from the book about the human condition and the main character’s state of mind. The flow of the water that goes through the bell jar design depends on what you need: practicality (showering) or purification (bathing).

What we like

  • Very minimalist and feminine
  • Single design allows you to use it in 2 ways with ease

What we dislike

  • It’s a concept!

5. Angle

We could always do with a new and exciting wash basin since the regular ones can tend to get boring. This concept for a ceramic washbasin is called Angle. It provides a completely different look for a sink and is a far cry from the normal ones. But this isn’t just something decorative as the design is actually to make it easier for the water to go down the drain.

Why is it noteworthy?

The washbasin uses curved and triangular surfaces from the faucet to the basin itself. The drain is a tiny opening at the corner of the basin so all the water that comes out of the faucet will flow towards there without you having a visible drain. The V-shaped basin makes it easier to drain the water.

What we like

  • The V shape makes it easier for the water to drain

What we dislike

  • With the design boasting a very thin drain at the corner, there is a possibility of bigger particles and debris not going through.

6. The Shower Scrubber

Designed by Casamera, the Shower Scrubber features a unique dual-sided design, that lets you pick between the two sides – a softer side great for massaging, and an exfoliating side to get rid of all the dry skin! The Shower Scrubber comes with a radical new redesign, sporting a honeycomb pattern on one side, to open your skin pores, and a walnut-shell textured surface on the other side, for scrubbing off dead cells to leave your skin shining.

Why is it noteworthy?

Konjac sponges have been on the market for ages galore, and they’ve been designed and redesigned in quite a few forms, however, the Shower Scrubber unlocks its true potential with its design and various infusions. The large guitar-pick-shaped design comes with a honeycomb texture on one side, inspired by Casamera’s waffle-textured towels. The honeycomb texture helps gently massage and pamper the skin (especially around the face), open the pores, and more importantly, is incredibly effective at building up a lather. The other side, however, is a textural contrast, as the sponge comes with particles of walnut shells suspended within the surface, offering an exfoliating experience that’s great at removing dead skin on your body to reveal shining, supple, radiant skin underneath.

What we like

  • Dual sides to meet the different needs of your skin
  • Biodegradable

What we dislike

  • Given it’s single colour, its difficult to assign unique sponges to different people using the bath

7. The‘At the Same Time Body Dryer’

At the Same Time Dryer Concept Image

At the Same Time Dryer Concept Photos

The ‘At the Same Time Body Dryer’ is an attempt to make public bath facilities more convenient, efficient, and fast. Speedy bathing and drying are possible with this concept body dryer as more can dry off at the same time.

Why is it noteworthy?

The name alone tells us its unique selling point.

What we dislike

  • While public bathing is popular in the east, not everyone will feel comfortable standing so close to dry off

8. The Smart Shower

Designer Natasha Jadhav decided to create a ‘Smart Shower’. This shower is truly smart, interactive, and not to mention aesthetically pleasing too! Jadhav struck the perfect balance between aesthetics and functionality with this design. Jadhav’s smart shower consists of the actual shower on the ceiling of the bathroom, a sleek white console that holds panels, and a hand shower, as well as a pressure-sensitive panel on the floor.

What we dislike

  • The shower automatically switches off after five minutes of zero activity – the waiting period could be shorter

9. The PURE 2-in-1 Electric Oral Care Kit

PURE 2-in-1 Oral Care Kit Details

This Dyson-inspired oral care essential system is promised to have long-lasting durability. It doesn’t just look like something Dyson would introduce in terms of colors and aesthetics; it also practices the same sustainability principle. It’s an electric toothbrush and water flosser in one.

Why is it noteworthy?

Like any Dyson product, the PURE 2-in-1 Electric Oral Care Kit offers innovation, reliability, and functionality. It is a creative system that saves space and allows more straightforward operation. You can use it either as a toothbrush or a water flosser when you need to deep clean your mouth. Just change the head module if you want to use the water flosser mode. There is a built-in airflow fan that can keep the brush head clean. It also prevents moisture so you can be confident your toothbrush is not contaminated.

What we like

  • It comes with a built-in water container for the water flosser
  • The brushes and the handles are stored inside to keep your bathroom clutter-free

What we dislike

  • It’s still a concept!

10. The Tiles Weight Scale

It takes a keen eye to be able to question the design of products we take for granted. Why are certain products like weighing scales designed the way they are? Given that they’re just literally a platform to stand on, why can’t they look more in tune with their surroundings? Designer Sije Chen found himself questioning that logic, which led to the design brief behind the Tiles Weight Scale. Simply put, the bathroom scale looks literally bathroom-inspired. With a glossy, tiled design, the product fits perfectly into the contemporary bathroom, looking more like functional decor than an appliance. Rather cool, no?

Why is it noteworthy?

A finalist at the Spark Awards last year, the Tiles Weight Scale looks like a panel of your quintessential ceramic bathroom tiles. They aren’t made from ceramic, which means they aren’t slippery, and the white panel has an LED display that shines through the material, activating the moment you stand on it. That way, it serves its purpose wonderfully when it needs to, and blends right into the bathroom’s decor when not in use!

What we like

  • Perfectly blends into your bathroom
  • Non-slippery

What we dislike

  • Has more of an aesthetic purpose, than a functional one

Kohler wants to ‘infuse’ your shower water with aromas that give you a spa-like experience

Imagine your Nespresso coffee machine and shower head had a baby…

Kohler unveiled what it believes to be the ‘future of bathing’ at this year’s CES – a shower infusion system that relaxes and rejuvenates you as you bathe. The way Kohler does this is simple – the Sprig Shower Infusion System includes a device that can be attached to any showerhead, which lets you add ‘Sprig Shower Pods’. Unlike your Nespresso, these pods don’t turn shower water into coffee… however, they do infuse the water with pleasant and calming aromas that give you a therapeutic experience as you bathe. Think scented candles and bath salts, but without the bathtub.

Designer: Kohler

Kohler is building on this system with a range of pods that offer a variety of fragrances like eucalyptus, chamomile, rose, lavender, lemongrass, along with minerals and ingredients that are supposedly good for your skin, like hyaluronic acid and sodium. According to The Verge, each pod provides infusions for “several minutes.”

The Sprig Shower Infusion System works with any existing shower head by sitting between the head and the water outlet in the wall. Water passes through the pod, picking up its eclectic blend of fragrances and chemicals, and then exits the shower head in the form of an aromatic spray of water. There is a catch, however. You can only use Sprig Shower Pods with this system, and there’s currently no way of breaking away from Kohler’s tight ecosystem. It feels a lot like the kind of business model Nespresso and Keurig built (first popularized by printers who bundled cartridges with hardware), with Kohler charging $21 for a 6-pack of single-use infusion pods. I’d keep them for special occasions, if I were you.

At this week’s Salone del Mobile, Kohler is again proving how it can contribute to the world with inspiring products. It also doesn’t hurt that the brand is committed to environmental sustainability so expect a series of more cost-effective and eco-friendly products. For Kohler, it’s always about innovation especially when the topic is bath products as we can discover with the STILLNESS BATH.

Kohler serves a diverse client base, but everyone is given options that work or are best for a given environment. The Stillness Bath is yet another thoughtfully-designed product able to offer intelligent solutions for the home. It is an experimental bath system that combines water, light, fog, and even scent to create a wonderful and immersive experience for the senses. The main goal is to renew the spirit and soothe the body with the new products from Kohler. This special bathtub system is also intended to relax the mind, but we know that attaining such peace is not exactly an easy feat.

Kohler Stillness Bath

The KOHLER Stillness Bath is mainly a new bathtub designed with features that can tap most senses of an individual. The product’s name suggests bathing in this tub offers stillness to the body, soul, and mind. It’s like having a real spa at home but with no one attending to your mundane needs. If you live a busy life and have no time to go to the gym or spa, you can instead have your precious me-time in the shower. But, of course, it can only be relaxing if your bathroom has the right amenities like an efficient shower spray system, a large bathtub, and a roomy space where you can breathe and be free.

A Stillness Bath moment can definitely relax the mind and body—something we really need in these stressful times. The bathtub includes a system of lighting, fog, aromatherapy, and water—everything you need to have a delightful bathing experience. The only thing missing is music, but you can always bring your phone or any smart speaker with you to the bath. This thing is greatly inspired by Japanese forest bathing, so feel free to imagine you’re somewhere in the middle of the forest, enjoying the lake for another dip in the enchanting water.

Such a trade fair is important because it is where the creators and movers in the home and interior design industries share new products and services, technologies, innovations, and even trends that can change the way we live and work each day.

Over at Salone, we have seen what Megius has to offer, and we can say its numerous products can change your bathing and showering experience. You see, your daily cleansing rituals need not be complicated, but it also doesn’t have to be very simple. You can decide to create the perfect bath experience because baths are great for your health and wellness. The Megius group is a formidable brand in this field as it knows more than just taste and style in the shower space. The company offers innovative solutions that can help people take better baths and showers, and the latest systems were shown off this week in Milan.

Megius Exen Sauna

Megius’ interpretation of the shower space varies depending on cultures, traditions, and technologies. The brand has intelligently considered the changes in style, taste, and needs of the people throughout the years. It will continue to interpret the changes in the world and anticipate what needs to be improved, especially in the shower game.

The name ‘Megius’ alone tells us what shower is also about— “A Thousand Thrilling Drops In One Space.” This presents to us the brand’s primary goal—to deliver shower solutions that are unique and accessible. The idea of thrilling drops in a space is a vital force in how the shower solutions are designed and presented. The Italian brand is now known for premium bathroom furnishings, and it has recently introduced the latest designs and innovations that can be beneficial to one’s wellness, relaxation, and pleasure.

Megius has identified the indissoluble relationship between these important elements: heat, water, style, design, services, and functionality. With the habits and changes in modern society, it is crucial the company responds to them with each product able to evoke different feelings through different finishes and materials. As a result, we’re seeing new shower enclosures and sauna systems that deliver designs and solutions that are pure and beautifully simple.

Three new significant products from Megius can help create style in any home and elegance in any bathroom: the Prisma 2.0, Exen Sauna, and Zen. Each of these series uses different materials—glass, steel, wood, and aluminum—that when combined, are truly beautiful, stunning, and timeless. These products are also given chic finishes and colors like Black, Copper, Bronze, and Rose Gold–to complete the sophisticated appeal.

Megius Prisma 2.0

Megius Prisma 2.0

Let’s start with the Megius Prisma 2.0 series, which is a new shower enclosure that is actually a reinterpretation of the classic. From a basic shower enclosure, it becomes a shower cabinet that looks minimalist yet functional in every way. The Prisma 2.0 series’ aesthetics are elegantly simple as every element harmonizes with one another to build a whole system that works.

The Prisma 2.0 is an ingenious solution with a combination of the features, including a 6 or 8mm thick glass, glass handles, a 6mm thick glass support shelf, and specially designed hinges that can connect two panes of glass. The clean look and harmony the different materials bring make this shower enclosure from Megius more than just a bathroom decoration. It can now be considered a fundamental structure that can amplify the senses and is engineered to answer your needs.

Megius Exen Sauna

Megius Exen Sauna

The Megius Exen Sauna is a nice blend of wood and glass elements, resulting in an innovative design and a more refined product. This one doesn’t come with a handle, as the sliding door is a preferred solution since it allows the natural exchange of air in such a small space. The Exen Sauna is designed mainly for indoors as a unique shower enclosure system with a reduced profile. The glass and wood combination brings a level of coziness and comfort to an otherwise mundane task such as showering.

Megius Zen

Megius Shower Zen

Most sliding solutions come with an average 40mm sliding profile, but the Megius Zen is only 17 mm high, resulting in a greater useful entry height. You don’t usually get it in standard enclosures, but the Zen series delivers a better response to minimalist users’ needs. And thanks to the minimalist profile, the Zen actually presents an intense emotional appeal, whether the hinged or sliding version. It is proof that “less is more” because this enclosure is more effective, efficient, and enjoyable even with a reduced profile.

DIY Tandem Shower Head Kit: For Singing Duets in the Shower

The DIY Tandem Shower by Boona is just that: a do-it-yourself solution to doubling your existing shower heads by adding another attached to a long rod. Impressively, the Tandem Shower has already far surpassed its Kickstarter goal, with more than $400,000 in funding past its initial $10,000 goal. Dammit, why didn’t I think of this?

The Tandem Shower is available in three colors (chrome, black, and Miami) and is adjustable to fit showers between 57″ and 76″ wide. It costs $249. *spit-takes warm shower water* Now I really wish I’d thought of it! Of course, the Tandem shower will only work well if you have high water pressure. If you have terrible water pressure as I do, you’re likely to only get a drip out of each shower head. You’ve been warned.

Boona advertises that the Tandem Shower will prevent cold spots while showering (e.g. your entire back) and can also help reduce water usage by showering with your partner. Hey honey – what do you say we get a tandem shower head so we can start showering together? No? I wonder what their cancellation policy is.

This smart eco-friendly shower uses a pressure-sensitive floor panel to turn off the water once you’re done!

Did you know that around 2.5 gallons of water are wasted at home while taking a shower? Imagine the amount of water wasted after an entire month or year of showering. Tremendous, and quite alarming! Now, showering isn’t something we can particularly avoid, so designer Natasha Jadhav decided to create a ‘Smart Shower’.

To start the shower, you need to simply rotate the intuitive center panel of the console. You can rotate it on either side to tactfully control the volume of the water.

The center panel is surrounded by a colored panel! This one can be used to control the temperature of the water. When the panel is rotated to the left, the console turns red (it’s been outlined with LED lights), indicating that the water is now hot.

When rotated to the right, the console turns blue and indicates the intensity of the cold water.

Now for the most interesting feature of this smart shower! The floor has been equipped with a pressure-sensitive panel. Once you step onto this panel, the console on the wall instantly recognizes you, and lights up to welcome you! Once you step off the pressure-sensitive panel to grab some soap or shampoo, or to carry out other activities, the water flow is immediately cut off, preventing any excess wastage of water. Once you step onto the panel again, the smart shower senses your weight and starts up the flow of water again! The shower automatically switches off after five minutes of zero activity!

This smart shower is an intuitive and innovative means of ensuring a comfortable shower experience, while also conserving water! It’s an eco-friendly, creative, and sleek product design that is the perfect integration of aesthetics and utility.
