Smart crib concept monitors if the baby wets the bed so parents won’t have to

Having a baby can be a very magical moment, but even the best, most patient, and kindest parents will struggle with some of the aspects of raising an infant. They need constant monitoring, even late at night when even adults should be resting. One of the most problematic things to watch out for is when the baby wets the bed, because it can happen any time, day or night, and even when parents are not paying attention. It might already be too late when the infant cries after having spent long minutes wearing or lying on something wet, which then could bring skin complications and other problems. It’s for that reason that this crib concept was designed, offering a more efficient way to monitor the baby by employing the very same technologies used to monitor plants and their soil’s wetness.

Designers: Anuj Pate, Piyusha Naik

Soil moisture, or the volume of water content in the soil, isn’t exactly the same as determining when a baby wet the bed, but the technology works the same for both cases. The sensor is only able to measure water content indirectly by taking into account other factors like electrical resistance, dielectric constant, and the like. Fortunately, this is enough to also detect if the mattress of a crib is now wet, which is the critical component of the Wee Watch Crib Concept.

In a nutshell, the crib uses copper coils attached to the mattress to implement the moisture detection hardware, since copper is considered to be harmless for the baby in this context. The sensors can sense the wetness of the bed and immediately fire off a notification to parents or caretakers, either audibly or through a phone app. It’s a much more efficient way compared to constantly watching the baby, which is tiring, or waiting for the baby to cry, which could be too late for the infant’s comfort and health.

Of course, the baby crib also has to be comfortable, not just functional, and the Wee Watch design opts to use natural cotton fibers for the mattress as it is gentler on the baby’s skin. The frame is made from laminated timber that’s put together using a moisture-resistant adhesive, and there are tall vents at the bottom to facilitate airflow and regulate temperature. More importantly, the crib is also made to still be useful as the baby grows, about up to two years as long as they still comfortably fit in that space.

A cradle that grows transforms into a rocking horse and folds as a suitcase, ready to journey!

When it comes to designing a space for our little bundles of joy, a crib that promises not only a safe and comfortable haven but a world of imaginative possibilities is a definite winner. Case in point, Schwan! Designed to make your baby smile even in their sleep, Schwan is far and beyond this idea. It ensures that every stage of your baby’s growth is met with excitement and comfort.

To that accord, this is a cradle that literally grows out of its essential idea of a cradle into one that doubles as a rocking horse or triples as a suitcase to be carried along when you shift base with your toddler. Beat that!

In its primary feature, Schwan provides a plush sleeping surface that delicately cradles your baby’s growing body. The ergonomic design ensures that your little one enjoys a restful sleep, night after night. But the magic doesn’t stop there.

As your baby starts to explore the world around them, Schwan transforms into a rocking horse: a delightful combination of entertainment and exercise. With a comfortable seat and handles perfectly sized for tiny hands to grip, this rocking horse feature becomes a source of endless joy. The gentle rocking motion not only brings giggles but also has a calming effect.

This safe haven for your child’s sleep and playtime adventures takes on yet another guise – that of a suitcase – with a simple flip and a few folds. The innovative crib becomes a convenient travel companion as foldable legs and a secure lid ensure that your baby’s essentials are packed away neatly, ready to journey.

As parents, we’re always seeking the best for our children. We want them to feel safe, cherished, and inspired. Schwan beautifully captures these aspirations, offering not just a cradle, but a whole world of possibilities with its image of a memory-maker on wheels!

This crib can become a couch when your kid is all grown up

Your child won’t stay a baby forever (though some might actually wish they did), so this modular furniture concept turns that sleeping place into a seating space when the time finally comes.

Parents sometimes tend to go overboard in buying things for their newborns, which is pretty understandable given how emotions can run high over our little ones. They don’t remain little forever, of course, and there will come a time when they will outgrow everything that you have bought for them. Clothes are one thing, but physical objects like toys, baby gadgets, and cribs are harder to get rid of without feeling a tad guilty. As adults, we also have a responsibility to make sure the world remains habitable for our children and our children’s children, and being able to reuse that crib helps drive that home, no pun intended.

Baby cribs are designed with the comfort and the safety of a baby or toddler in mind. Everything else is secondary, but that doesn’t exactly mean that nothing else can be done to give the piece of furniture a fresh spin, especially one that will extend its use long after the baby has grown up. That, of course, requires that every part of the crib is reusable, which is the proposition that the Evolvie concept is trying to make.

Just like what its name tries to convey, the crib grows with its owner to some extent. That’s because Evolvie can be taken apart, and each of its different parts can be used for a slightly different purpose. At its most basic, the crib has a flat platform for the bed, a thick mattress on top of it, and two L-shaped pieces with bars that form the walls of the crib.

When you need a slightly larger bed, however, you can use a longer platform and mattress. The sides no longer meet at the edges, so you’ll need two wooden panels to connect them, one of which can be used as a door. Spread the base further, and you have the makings of a comfortable but admittedly odd-looking sofa.

What’s impressive about the concept is that there are other configurations possible that go beyond sleeping or sitting. The sides can be turned to become the legs of the table, with the wooden doors serving as a panel for sticky notes or a wall to lean your kid’s stationery on. It can even become a teen-sized bed, presuming you’re comfortable sleeping on something that narrow.

The concept leaves the door open for the materials to be used, but wood definitely plays a big role. It’s most likely that even the bars will be made of wood but probably coated with something safe for kids. There is also plenty of room for color combinations that will keep a child’s eye occupied for years to come. The flexibility and multi-purpose design of this crib are what make Evolvie really stand out, showing that even the most special-purpose products can become so much more with enough imagination and creative design thinking.

This Award-Winning Furniture’s transforming design stays with your child from birth to teenage!

Tutti Bambini, a UK-based brand devoted to manufacturing products for children and babies of expectant parents, has officially outdone their 2017 CoZee Bedside Crib with the latest award-winning crib that lasts long after your toddler outgrows it. European Product Design Award recognized CoZee XL, designed by Michael Samuel, as 2020’s Top Design Winner for Children and Baby Products. CoZee XL is four pieces of furniture in one, growing alongside your toddler and providing everlasting comfort and familiarity for years to come.

CoZee XL initially functions as the beloved Bedside Crib, which allows your baby to sleep in their own separate bed right at your side so you can develop that special, physical bond early on in childhood. The Bedside Crib can be used for co-sleeping or as a stand-alone crib, thanks to a hinge mechanism that unlocks one side of your baby’s bed to position it next to yours for sound sleeping and ’round-the-clock monitoring. Once your baby outgrows the size of their crib, CoZee expands into a Cot. The Cot is specifically designed for babies and toddlers from 6 months to two years of age. Thanks to the Bedside Crib’s frame’s hinge features, the Cot also allows for easy access and reasonable supervision throughout the night.

Then, two years will go by before you know it and your youngster will feel ready for their first “big bed,” so CoZee XL’s Cot transforms into their Junior Bed. The Junior Bed is a simple bed frame with a cushioned headboard and base, perfect for a toddler between the ages of two and four. Finally, this toddler-style transformer assumes its final shape as a sofa, which makes for an exciting, first interior addition to your child’s bedroom and social space for friends during playdates. In addition to the multi-faceted, impressive changeability of CoZee XL, it is completely foldable and portable, coming with a traveling case, so you’ll never have to worry about sleeping arrangements for your baby, no matter the age or space available.

Purchasing reliable furniture for your children is preferable over cheaper options, but it can get expensive quickly. That’s what’s so exciting about CoZee XL – this single piece of furniture is long-lasting and provides a sense of familiarity for youngsters so that the growing pains that typically accompany adjustment periods regarding discomfort over new furniture can be diminished, but you and your child’s comfort will never be compromised.

If the Eames Lounge Chair were a baby-crib, this would be it…

Looking absolutely divine in its wood and veneer construction, the Argo is easily the bassinet-equivalent of the Eames Lounge Chair. Named after the mythical vessel that protected Jason and the Argonauts, it gently cradles, shields and reassures, while easily being the centerpiece of any room. Making quite the statement its classic-meets-futuristic design, Argo doesn’t use an ounce of plastic in its build, sticking to materials that give it its premium appeal… and its ability to shield your baby from electromagnetic waves.

Fashioned from French walnut, the crib’s construction employs animal glues, wool cloth for the interior trim, and an oiled finish to give it its spectacular sheen. A foldable shade-fabric allows you keep the baby safe from mosquitoes and the harsh glare of bright lights, while a copper artwork on the bassinet’s hood helps absorb electromagnetic waves that linger around the child, through the presence of smartphones, smart-home devices, televisions, computers, tablets, etc.

Bespoke Baby Bed

Nuture is a concept that replaces the core and support layers of traditional infant mattresses with a strap system that allows for a bespoke design to be created for every child. The aluminum frame provides rigidity with adjustable tension straps that allow the profile to be altered. This means parents can tailor the mattress contours to their baby to help prevent flat head syndrome, limit acid reflux and more. It’s also extendable to adapt to a range of infant beds & grows as the child does, all the way until they transition to a regular bed!

Doctor Who Crib: It’s Wetter on the Inside

What if your baby could travel through time and space? I imagine their TARDIS would look something like this Doctor Who crib.
doctor who crib
The Doctor already acts pretty childish, so this wouldn’t be all that different from the show we have now. This rocking crib looks great, but it gets even better. The family’s last name is Gallafraigh. How perfect is that? Sure, it’s not spelled the same way, but it still wouldn’t surprise me if the kid’s name was Rassilon.

Some parents are just frakkin’ awesome. Wait until this thing de-materializes and the kid comes back in a new outfit and with a companion.
