Clever modular pillow is filled with smaller removable pillows on the inside

You know how you use individual LEGO bricks to make larger LEGO structures? The Pod-Pillow™ is sort of the same thing. Filled with smaller pillows on the inside, the Pod-Pillow comes with a design that you can easily adjust to create thin, thick, concave, or custom-shaped designs. The smaller pillows make it easy to ‘design’ the shape of your pillow based on your needs, without having you stuff in or pull out fistfuls of cotton or microfiber to adjust your pillow. The small pillows or ‘adjustment pods’ as they’re called, make the entire modular system much more elegant, turning an otherwise messy and cluttered process into a clean, easy one.

The Pod-Pillow was designed by Mark and Peter Rane, former senior designers for YETI and Lenovo who banded together to form Twilla out of the realization that there wasn’t a single pillow on the market that fit their exact needs. Sure, pillows are a dime a dozen, and we’ve covered modular ones before, but there isn’t a truly modular pillow that lets you craft it in any shape you desire. That distinction belongs solely to the Pod-Pillow, which lets you pretty much create the pillow that fits your exact needs.

It doesn’t need to be symmetric – in fact, many people sleep on their left side, so you could design a pillow with a thicker left side so your head’s elevated higher when you’re side-sleeping. You could also create a cradle shape that keeps you on your back with your head facing upward. You can build a neck support based on what suits your comfort level – for instance, I like my pillows thicker at the neck and thinner at the back of my head.

Building your modular pillow is incredibly intuitive – unzip the pillow and add adjustment pods in areas where you want a thicker pillow. Once you’re satisfied with the arrangement, zip the pillow shut and fluff it to smoothen things out, and your Pod-Pillow is ready to sleep on.

The Pod-Pillow is lined on the outside with Tencel fabric, a eucalyptus-based material known for its softness along with its moisture-wicking and thermoregulating capabilities. Go deeper and the pillow is stuffed with Light-Loft™ filling – a premium down alternative with a light airy-softness that breathes extremely well. The adjustment pods are stuffed with Cooling-Gel Foam™ – an odorless, gel-polymer-infused foam that draws heat away from the pillow surface, keeping it cool as you rest your head against it.

The Pod-Pillow is machine-washable and comes in 3 sizes – queen, king, and body, with varying quantities of adjustment pods based on your pillow size. Sleep enthusiasts (i.e., all of us) can also grab the add-on Twilla Sleep Mask to help you catch a few extra winks on your new, modular, comfortable Pod-Pillow.

This sleep-enhancing pillow is stuffed with an unusually clever combination of foam and fibers

If you’re still using a basic cotton pillow in 2022, you’re quite literally living in the stone age. The Dreamade Pillow sports both a unique design along with a unique filler material, making it one of the most interesting pillows we’ve seen in years.

Designer: Dr. William Choi

Click Here to Buy Now: $79 $150 (47% off). Hurry, Launch Special ends in less than 24 hours!

What stands out first is the Dreamade’s 4-segmented design, designed by a chiropractor and driven by the fact that people don’t sleep in one position throughout the night (A study of Sleep Positions and Nocturnal Body Movements by US National Center for Biotechnology indicates that we switch positions roughly every 30-40 minutes of sleep).

Four Sections – To keep your neck properly aligned all night even when you switch positions.

Fully Adjustable – Four sections can be independently adjusted for the perfect fit.

The four zones are designed specifically around how humans change their positions in their sleep, alternating between traditional back-sleeping and side-sleeping. To facilitate back sleeping the Dreamade comes with a neck support and headrest that maintain the curvature of your spine and neck, while slightly broader side zones allow you to sleep on your sides while lifting your entire head upwards. Like most traditional pillows, the Dreamade allows you to adjust its height by adding or removing material… However, the material within the pillow itself is rather interesting in and of itself.

Soft but Supportive – The combination of memory foam noodles and premium microfiber conforms to your shape but rebounds quicker to give dynamic support as you switch positions.

Perhaps the one major area of innovation for pillows over the past century has been its filling. Pillows were originally filled with feathers before migrating to cotton, then synthetic fibers, and finally, the apparent holy grail of pillow-making – memory foam. While the industry swears by memory foam pillows, its notorious disadvantage is that you can’t really adjust the pillow’s size. A memory foam pillow is made to be used exactly the way it is, and can’t be height-adjusted by adding or removing material – but the Dreamade seems to have cracked this problem by relying on a hybrid between memory foam ‘noodles’ and microfibers.

The Dreamade pillow is filled with a ‘stuffing’ of ultra-fine microscopic polyester fibers, mixed with multiple memory foam noodles (which unlike a big chunk of memory foam, can be adjusted in quantity). This unique combination provides the Dreamade with the best of all worlds, allowing it to be heigh-adjusted by simply adding or removing the stuffing, while being comfortable, supporting, breathable, hypoallergenic, and anti-odor.

The pillow’s 4 separate segments can be individually height-adjusted to give you a pillow that uniquely suits your comfort needs, while 3D mesh gussets (separators) between the 4 compartments allow air to pass through all areas of the pillow for maximum breathability, eliminating ‘hot zones’ and sweaty patches while you sleep.

Each Dreamade pillow comes with its own pillow cover that the makers recommend gets washed ideally every fortnight. The pillow itself is washable too, once you’ve removed the filling out from inside its shell. You can grab a Dreamade pillow of your own for a 47% discounted price of $79 USD. The pillow ships internationally with a regular and a zippered case, and an extra bag of the hybrid microfiber + memory foam noodle fill, starting July 2022.

Oa is a speaker that can also be a pillow to help you sleep deeper

My constant companions before falling asleep, aside from my smartphone, is a pillow and my smart speaker which I use to help me fall asleep. I know I’m supposed to not use any devices as the screens actually do not help my circadian rhythm so I really should be satisfied with the latter two. If you would like to have both your pillow and the speaker in the same space, this new concept for a “companion” may be the answer to that.

Designer: Woojin Shin, Subin Kim, Hyorung Choi

Oa is a speaker that you can use as a pillow to embrace (not to lie on) to help you fall asleep if that’s a problem that you’re having. But more than just something that can play white noise or sleep music, it actually is designed to capture the life of the companion (meaning you) and the device. It’s a bit weird to actually be embracing your speaker when you’re trying to fall asleep but it’s probably the next step in the evolution of our relationship with devices.

The shape of this companion is like any oval-shaped smart speaker with one major difference: there’s a huge hole in the middle which they call curved grooves. And of course, the material used is smoother and softer since it’s meant to be embraced by the user and may even be tossed and turned as you sleep. There are functions familiar to smart speaker users, like playing music or white noise with a timer but it also gives off some “vibrations” to keep you warm and help you sleep.

One other unique thing that the Oa brings is that it will be able to store white noise when you leave it alone at home and it can be your companion while you sleep. It adapts your background to your sleeping habits so if that’s something that can help you out to get better sleep, then you’ll get it from this. It also has the usual buttons and a USB-C charger to power it up when not in use. I most likely wouldn’t want to have a speaker as my pillow but it’s certainly an interesting concept.

This chic ergonomic pillow lets you sleep without worrying about neck pain

While most ergonomic pillows look like strange curvilinear headrests, Bed Pillow’s capsule-shaped design looks incredibly minimalist and picture-perfect.

Bed Pillow is on a mission – a mission to let you sleep however you want without worrying about neck and back pain. Most pillows just elevate your head without worrying about its position in relation to your spine. Depending on this (and on whether you’re a back, stomach, or side sleeper), your neck experiences stress due to bad sleeping posture. While ergonomic pillows try to solve this problem, Bed Pillow attempts at solving it while looking like a beautiful addition to your bedroom decor.

Designer: Ostrichpillow

The Bed Pillow has a design that’s as simple as its name. Shaped like a capsule, the pillow is made from memory foam with a concave indentation on its underside. This indented shape supports both back and stomach sleepers, while the wider sides are perfect for side sleepers. Depending on how you sleep, the Bed Pillow keeps your neck aligned appropriately with your spine, so you don’t end up with neck pains.

Ergonomic Design – Consists of different areas with different heights so that regardless of the shape and position of your head, the support and alignment will always be just right.

Back position.

Side position.

Stomach position.

This design is further complemented by Bed Pillow’s choice of material and construction. The pillow uses a BASF memory foam core that offers proper support throughout the entire pillow by absorbing pressure evenly to relax the muscles in your neck, spine, and shoulders. Vertical channels running through the pillow also boost air circulation and breathability, preventing overheating and providing a cooling and pleasant sensation through the night. Wrapping around the core is a recycled polyester fabric inner cover that’s moisture-resistant and provides thermal insulation. Finally, the Bed Pillow gets furnished with a jersey fabric outer cover that provides the pillow with its soft feel (which can be periodically removed and machine washed).

Optimum Breathability – Has open channels inside that allow air to circulate continuously, preventing overheating and providing a cooling and pleasant sensation all night long.

Made from a high-end BASF memory foam core.

While the Bed Pillow is quite pretty to look at as it is, you can choose to use it with a standard pillow cover. Bed Pillow is compatible with most commercial queen-size pillow covers (IKEA, Bed Bath & Beyond, Pottery Barn…), letting you match it with the rest of your bedroom, should you choose. You can grab your Bed Pillow for a 25% discounted price of €85 ($90) which also covers any import duties/taxes on shipping. Sleep enthusiasts can also add accessories like a travel neck pillow or an eye mask to your purchase.

Chewbacca ‘Pillow Pet’ Is The Stuff of Nightmares

Created in the likeness of everyone’s favorite Wookiee, the Chewbacca Pillow Pet Jumboz Plush (affiliate link) is the perfect companion for a young child that you never want to sleep again. I think it’s the vacant, dead eyes that really do it for me. They should have at least put teddy bear eyes in those sockets. Shoot, anything but those pitch-black, soul-stealing caverns.

The pillow measures approximately 14″ x 14″ x 14″ and unfastens to reveal the 30″ x 30″ stuffed Chewbacca mat/rug you’ve always dreamed of. In pillow form, though he looks like a cross between a Shih Tzu and a Wookiee, with the face of a snub-nosed monkey. My goodness, that face. Did I mention the eyes? I’ll be sleeping with a night light on tonight for sure, I don’t care if my wife makes fun of me.

Admittedly, I just bought one. But I am going to hot glue googly eyes on Chewie the moment he arrives? Yes, and if those googly eyes ever happen to come off and I see him without them, well, let’s just say it won’t be the first time I’ve ever smelled burning Wookiee fur (campfire accident on Kashyyyk – should have listened to Smokey).

Finally, The Butt Shaped Pillow We’ve All Been Waiting for

There’s been a noticeable absence of butt-shaped pillows on the market, and to fill that void, The Buttress is selling these ‘Oh My God Look at That Buttress’ pillows. The posterior pillows, available on Amazon (affiliate link), are made in the form of a firm, shapely rear wearing removable yoga pants. I… don’t even know where to begin with this.

The pillows are available with six different colors of yoga pants to match the rest of your kinky bedroom decor. They are advertised for all kinds of sleepers, including “squeezers, slappers, and face-buriers,” none of which I realized were kinds of sleepers versus perverts. You learn something new every day.

The butt is made from 100% natural latex, measures approximately 20″ x 20″ x 11″, and weighs seven pounds. The company’s marketing mentions You can use the pillow to help relieve anxiety. However, I suspect just the opposite happening when I lay my head on one and realize I’m the kind of person who actually bought a butt-shaped pillow. I just ordered two, one for the bed and one for the sofa!

VHS Pillowcases and Duvets: Be Kind, Relax and Rewind

While VHS tapes clearly won the format war against Betamax, I was always more of a Beta fan because I’ve always been an outsider-slash-tech snob. Regardless of the kind of videotape you chose back in the day, your blank tapes almost certainly came in a boldly designed box with colorful line art graphics. Now, you can enjoy the classic VHS tape look every time you lie down to go to bed.

Clothing and accessory brand MoonLambo makes a variety of fun items decked out to look like classic VHS art, including a VHS tape pillowcase, and two different VHS-inspired duvet covers: one in a white/yellow/orange/red color scheme, and another in a black/gold/RGB combo. All three are labeled as “T-120” which means that they can record up to 2 hours of low-quality video in SP mode, 4 hours of mediocre video in LP mode, and 6 hours of “shot on a potato” quality video in EP mode. And if you start to see squiggly lines while you drift off to sleep, try adjusting the tracking control.

And if you have a particularly memorable dream of Heather Locklear coming out of the swimming pool that you don’t want to forget, be sure to punch out the write-protect tab to prevent someone in the house from overwriting your precious fantasies with a bad episode of Silver Spoons.

Finally, A Pillow That Lets You Sleep With Your Head Inside Kirby’s Mouth

Kirby: he eats everything in sight. Including your bad dreams, thanks to this Kirby sleep pillow. Designed with a detachable tongue cushion, you can stick your head in Kirby’s mouth and just let all your daily woes slip away. The only thing that would make it better is if it had a white-noise machine that made a sucking sound.

Originally released by Bandai for $97, it appears all the official units have sold out and been replaced with units of… questionable authenticity on Amazon (affiliate link), albeit for a much more reasonable $23 – $28. Just remember that you get what you pay for, and in this case, you will be paying for a Pink Sucky Blob Pillow.

Obviously, we should try to get a leg-up on the trend and start selling Big Mouth Yellow Pellet Eater pillows before the officially licensed Pac-Man pillows even hit the market. Get rich quick scheme – or cease-and-desist scheme?! Probably the latter.

Fried Chicken Pillows with Phone Pouch to Play ASMR Audio of Chicken Frying

Do you have a hard time falling asleep at night? Is it so bad and specific you need a fried chicken-shaped pillow with an integrated pouch for your phone so you can play audio of chicken frying just so you can fall asleep? Well, you’re in luck, because Japanese brand Fellisimo just released the Mocchiri Juicy Karaage (“Springy Juicy Fried Chicken”) pillow. I want one, but my wife is going to get pissed if I eat another pillow.

Available in three very slightly different styles (“small and easy to eat” [left]; “so good you’ll want to save it for the end of the meal” [middle]; and “the best ratio of meat and skin” [right]), the pillows cost 3,300 yen apiece, or around $32. Alternatively, you could get a 12-piece meal with 3 large sides and 6 biscuits from KFC for the same price and cuddle that to sleep. Who doesn’t like waking up greasy?

The pillows include a pouch to hold your smartphone, and you’re encouraged to play the ASMR YouTube video of chicken sizzling and frying provided by Fellisimo (have a listen for yourself below). I tried relaxing to it, but honestly, it just made me hungry. And do you know what happens when I get hungry right before going to sleep? I eat pillows. True story: my wife used the parental controls to block the Food Network in the bedroom.

Pikachu Centipede Body Pillows: Gotta Catch ‘Em Aaaaah!

What has a Pikachu head, entirely too many body segments, and nobody asked for? If you answered a Pikachu centipede body pillow, then you’re correct. Available from Chinese online retailer AliExpress, falling asleep with one of these ‘Very Long Pikachu Insect Plushes’ can almost guarantee a poor night’s sleep filled entirely with nightmares.

Available in four sizes (85cm, 1.1m, 1.4m, and 1.7m), the Creepachus cost between $21 and $90 depending on length, and I have the sneaking suspicion they’re not actually officially licensed products from Nintendo. Or a product that should exist at all for that matter.

Who comes up with this stuff? ‘You know what the world needs? Pikachu centipede body pillows,’ somebody actually thought to themselves before going the distance and having them manufactured. I mean that’s something I wouldn’t imagine even in my wildest dreams, and let me tell you – I’ve had some wild dreams. The things I’ve seen! But never ever a Pikachu centipede body pillow, just so we’re clear.
