If you’re one of those motivated souls who have some focused fitness goals to achieve this year – then you’ve reached the right place. However, if you’re not a total gym rat, and don’t enjoy hitting the gym every day, then a disciplined home workout regime may be the perfect solution for you. And to do so, you definitely need a great collection of exercise equipment to support your workout routine, and goals. This collection of exercise equipment will not only motivate you to work out in the comfort of your own home, but will also ensure you stick to your daily exercise routine in the future. From a clever and thoughtful home gym that merges with your living room to a rowing machine that uses a minimalistic and recyclable design – these innovative exercise equipment will prevent you from skipping leg day.

1. Tempo Move

This compact home gym is more than just an exercise assistant. This fitness accessory is designed to stand next to your furniture in the living room and eliminate your runs to the store room for gymming. Tempo Move is a sublime blend of materials, colors, and finishes, which makes it a discrete piece of furniture to turn your living space into a home gym.

Why is it noteworthy?

The workout equipment goes behind the fabric cabinet while the top feature an iPhone dock compatible with iPhone XR and upward. With the unique combination of furniture and gym, Tempo Move connects to any large-screen TV to let you see your exercise routine and have the trainers coach you in real-time.

What we like

  • Unless you open the cabinet, anyone would mistake it for an elegant cabinet you’d bought from Wayfair
  • The neat-looking Tempo Move console houses within its cabinetry 16 weight plates, 4 weight collars, 2 dumbbells, and a heart rate monitor

What we dislike

  •  The design could be more interactive
  • No customizable elements

2. Denim-covered Gym Equipment

These pieces are already unique and distinctive on their own. After all, who would have dreamed up gym equipment covered in this blue fabric? A relatively soft DJ booth is also a bit ironic when you think about it, and a denim wall paneling almost makes you want to run into it for fun.

Why is it noteworthy?

Denim today has become a part of both everyday wear as well as the haute-couture world, but it also once symbolized the American dream. It has left an indelible mark on human culture, and this odd yet beautiful selection of furniture and products for the home honors that history while also emphasizing how much denim is part of everyday life, at home, at work, and work-from-home.

What we like

  • The use of denim is quite unique and intriguing
  • Makes a statement about the modern lifestyle

What we dislike

  • Seeing how working out can be a sweaty affair, we are not sure how easy it would be to maintain the denim covered equipments

3. Spin&Row

Aptly titled the ‘Spin&Row’, this award-winning gym-machine concept lets you work your cardio and legs while cycling, and your arms and core while rowing.

Why is it noteworthy?

Designed to offer people the best of both worlds, the Spin&Row was created during the pandemic when exercising at home was practically the only feasible option available to people. Moreover, its X-shaped folding design lets it easily occupy less floor space when shut, making it perfect for homes and apartments.

What we like

  • It enables the user to switch between fitness modes by adjusting the angle of the X structure
  • It fulfills multiple fitness functions in a small space

What we dislike

  • After folding, the product still looks like an gym equipment and may not look good with your interiors

4. The GYMO-FIT

Meet the GYMO-FIT concept motorbike that has the typical urban commuter vibes, and a sturdy exercise bike to keep fit. The uncertain times in the last couple of years have prompted people to go for home fitness setups – that’s why exercise bikes have grown in popularity in recent times.

Why is it noteworthy?

This concept bike doubles as a two-wheeler at least and doesn’t sit in a lonely corner in your living room, in case you give up on your fitness regime. It’s a combination of an electric bike with aerobic and anaerobic fitness equipment. GYMO has three different modes when parked sturdily on the stand.

What we like

  • Functions as a two-wheeler and an exercise equipment

What we dislike

  • We’re not sure if it’s truly a viable option in the real world

5. Lora

Lora is a concept for an indoor rowing machine that is hoping to ease the boredom of working out while still giving you the aerobic workout that you need.

Why is it noteworthy?

It also wants to find the balance between humans and the environment by using plastic and aluminum that can eventually be recycled when the product reaches its end of life. To also help you not get that bored while working out, there is a stand to attach to your smartphone or small tablet so you can watch something else while working out.

What we like

  • It is able to bring together engineering structure and technology to come up with a machine that will help you burn fat and help lessen waste with its recyclable material

What we dislike

  • No method has been discussed to disassemble or fold the rower to make it a space-saving design

6. Peleton Vibe

Peloton Vibe caters to every sense and muscle from start to finish, it is truly a whole vibe. The bench has a unique multi-position arm that can be moved to work with a variety of exercises.

Why is it noteworthy?

The lower portion stores a set of dumbbells that help expand to a larger range of guided workouts by the Peloton App service. Once you complete your workout, the bench seat and arm surface seamlessly transform into a massage experience. It utilizes built-in massage balls that can rotate and heat up based on your preferences. At-home gym equipment AND at-home spa? I would work out more often simply so I can make the most of the heated massage feature.

What we like

  • Has a unique multi-position arm that can be moved to work with a variety of exercises
  • Peloton Vibe also doubles up as flexible home furniture

What we dislike

  • Space-consuming design

7. Bownce

Bownce is a small ball that can get you perspiring and training your muscle groups with the help of technology. It calls itself “the first IoT ball of its kind”.

Why is it noteworthy?

It is small enough and easy to install that you can bring it with you to the office, outside in your backyard, or wherever room/space in your house you feel most comfortable. It’s also small enough that it’s not that intimidating, especially for newbies like me that want to start punching things.

What we like

  • What makes it different from other workout balls, aside from its size, is that it has integrated electric components so you’ll be able to track your performance
  • The app that you connect to the device logs your punches when you work out and gives you real-time statistics

What we dislike

  • Not sure on how it can replicate the physical feel of a punching bag

8. AROUND

This concept for a spinning bike called AROUND tries to have a softer look as compared to those super serious exercise bikes you see in gyms. The light gray color makes it more approachable and the flywheel body design makes it ideal to have at home, as part of your living room furniture, or even in your bedroom. The mood board for their design concept includes mollusks and portable water purifiers as well as other previous designs from Yifeeling.

Why is it noteworthy?

This exercise bike also has a tuyere-like design instead of just the regular faucet handle seen on exercise machines so you get a bit of breeze while you’re spinning. This should be able to simulate the air flowing through you at least if you’re biking outdoors. There’s a small monitor in the handle so you can watch something while biking as some find it a bit boring to just cycle indoors.

What we like

  • The tuyere-like design allows you to get a bit of breeze while spinning
  • Soft aesthetics

What we dislike

  • The seat looks pretty uncomfortable

9. Gymera

Gymera revolutionizes home fitness by providing a more enjoyable exercise system that fits right in your home. It even folds up to serve as a full-body mirror that adds a beautiful accent to your home!

Why is it noteworthy?

Gameful design has long been a successful strategy in many industries, and Gymera applies it to fitness to make your reps more engaging and memorable. Whether you’re driving a race car, rowing a boat, or playing tug of war with a Gymera friend, the interactive puts a whole new layer of experience into your workouts. The smart home gym machine is equipped with a variety of sensors and a vivid 27-inch 4K touch screen that helps immerse you in that virtual world to the point that you might even forget you’re actually sweating it out at home.

What we like

  • The 5MP camera easily lets you and your friends enjoy a Facetime workout together even when you’re far apart
  • Gymera’s AI system can analyze your posture in real time and give you feedback on your form

What we dislike

  • Hefty price tag

10. Boom

Designed by Shuxian Hong, Boom is a smart boxing bag meant to bring the workout experience to your home. It integrates a punching bag, a smart speaker, and interactive illumination technology into a streamlined boxing experience, designed specifically for your home.

Why is it noteworthy?

When not being used to actually box, Boom can function as a home speaker, that perfectly merges with the rest of your living space. You can pair it up with your TV or other smart devices, and activate it via Siri or Alexa, through a simple command. When you use Boom to box, the interactive lighting system starts up! Lighting elements, lively music, and voice instructions create a truly interactive and engaging boxing experience.

What we like

  • Functions as exercise equipment, and a speaker

What we dislike

  • It’s not a real tangible product yet!

This tiny IoT ball may be the connected, punching workout you need

One of the constant challenges for me personally is to find a workout that I will not get bored with, that will help me shed pounds, and that will not be so difficult. I know that probably said workout that meets all those factors still doesn’t exist but when the day comes when that will happen will probably be the happiest day of my life (and my doctor too). For now, I’m always on the lookout for products or at least concepts that may appeal to this couch potato who’s desperately in need of a workout.

Designers: Katerina Kopytina, Nikita Bukuros

One such product concept that is pretty interesting is Bownce, a small ball that can get your perspiring and training your muscle groups with the help of technology. It calls itself “the first IoT ball of its kind”. It is small enough and easy to install that you can bring it with you to the office, outside in your backyard, or wherever room/space in your house you feel most comfortable. It’s also small enough that it’s not that intimidating, especially for newbies like me that want to start punching things.

What makes it different from other workout balls, aside from its size, is that it has integrated electric components so you’ll be able to track your performance. The app that you connect to the device logs your punches when you work out and gives you real-time statistics so you can adjust how you punch, how fast you do it, the force, duration, etc. The device is attached to the ceiling and the floor, with a small ball on a string and it is connected to the app.

Think of it as a punching bag that’s not a bag but a small ball. The floor fixture is able to let the ball move freely and bounce back (hence, the name) after hitting. I don’t know about the force needed to hit the ball but it seems that you need some to be able to consider this a workout anyway. The fact that it looks simple and not overwhelming like your usual punching stuff is what appeals to me. The fact that it’s IoT also is a bonus. Now whether I won’t get bored with it is the main question.

Clever and thoughtful home gym lets you exercise in the living room without compromising décor

Through the pandemic, when public gyms were least populated, a parallel industry of home gyms has come to the fore. Home gyms are particularly designed to provide you with exercise equipment and put you in front of a motion tracking camera that relays real-time information about posture, reps and other details to a trainer on the other side of a connected screen. The real-time coaching (in the comfort and safety of the house) has propelled the industry to a high where memberships of virtual trainers are skyrocketing at the cost of physical instructors in the gym down the street.

The idea of a home gym was revolutionized by the Tempo Studio gym set which comes complete with a display and motion-tracking camera that actively scans and monitors your exercise in 3D. The entire set, with all the equipment hiding within its storage cabinet, occupies three square feet of your house’s real estate. This guy appeared a little plasticky and displeasing despite its sleek all-in-one design. To give us a better, compact and more interesting way to get fit well within the confines of the home, without compromising the décor, the makers behind the Studio set have now come up with the Tempo Move.

From the pictures here, you would have made out; Move is unlike anything anyone would associate with a gym. The metal body of the console is clad in warm fabric for an elegant look. Unless you open the cabinet, anyone would mistake it for an elegant cabinet you’d bought from Wayfair. The more techie would mistake it for an iPhone dock, only to realize its reality when it would refuse to blast the tones from the docked iPhone. For you, using HDMI you can connect the Move to your TV set and workout with ease along with the models on the large screen.

The neat-looking Tempo Move console houses within its cabinetry 16 weight plates, 4 weight collars, 2 dumbbells, and a heart rate monitor. The weight plates and dumbbells all stay put in their sectional grooves. You can, therefore, pull out or roll back the equipment in a smooth motion without injuring the console. Did you want a gym that would let you exercise conveniently in the living room? Tempo Move is here!

This sleek rowing machine is all you need to strengthen core muscles

Home workouts are now becoming more common than before, as fitness freaks explore the more practical option compared to visiting gymnasiums susceptible to the spread of infections. While having dumbbells and weight rods is the easier option, getting a hardcore machine for a particular body toning regime is also beneficial. How the machine looks and whether it fits the modern interior space well, is a question well worth pondering over.

The Beam rowing machine designed by Minho Lee is one of them, and it’s already got me charged up to flex those muscles. Rowing is a very important exercise to build the shoulder, back, bicep and tricep muscles along with the core. Hence getting a rowing machine makes more sense than getting any other isolated muscle workout machine. Since space is at a premium when it comes to getting indoor workout machines, a rowing machine is the one to go for prime fitness.

Designer: Minho Lee

This sleek rowing machine blends in with any home interior and is compact enough to not take much space once the daily workout is done. The intensity controller toggles the level of resistance the machine will provide, while the sturdy legs ensure it will not move even an inch with intense rowing action. The optimum length of the machine can also be adjusted via the slide rail to provide varied angles of pulling action to target back and shoulder muscles. The footrest too looks very sturdy and ergonomically positioned for the right body posture.

The shining chrome dark gray finish of the body combined with the light gray of the seating and pull rod is so inviting. I would love to have this rowing machine tucked in the corner of my recreational room, ready to unleash it every evening after a challenging workday to get in prime physical as well as mental condition.

The Nike AirBuddy drone gives you an airborne AI-powered trainer that tracks your workout

Nike AirBuddy Drone

Designed as a response to several restrictions imposed during the lockdown, the NIKE AIRBUDDY is a conceptual drone that ‘spots’ you while you exercise. It can be carried around via a shoulder-strap located on the base of the drone, and can be deployed anywhere. Once in the air, the drone connects with your Nike Fitness App and tracks your performance, giving you a comprehensive breakdown of your routine at the end.

Nike AirBuddy Drone

The drone embodies a clean, sophisticated design language, with 4 rotors branching out of a capsule-shaped body. The drone’s body is outfitted with a single camera that acts as a watchful eye, observing every movement you make like a trainer would. This would hint at the fact that the drone doesn’t come with any obstacle avoidance, so it’s best used in open fields (as opposed to densely forested parks or the woods). The AirBuddy does come with a light-strip located right in front of its camera, which means for the most part it can see what’s in front of it, avoiding obstacles as it flies forwards. Just in case the drone suffers wear and tear, the AirBuddy’s modular design solves this problem as the propellers are detachable and can be easily replaced with newer parts if they ever do get damaged.

Nike AirBuddy Drone

The AirBuddy is a conceptual drone designed by South Korea-based designer Cheolhee Lee. It features a customizable design that allows users to choose their own color-ways to match their workout-garments and gear, and although conceptual, sounds like quite a flex from a company that has always been at the forefront of innovation, having also worked on laceless shoes in the past, which were recently upgraded with the world’s first-ever hands-free shoes!

Hyperbells Turn Your Existing Dumbbells ‘Into a Full Home Gym’

Because less is more, Hyperbell is a modular clamp system designed for turning existing dumbbells into barbells and kettlebells. It is NOT for turning existing dumbbells into doorbells – that would take something else entirely. Something I’m already hard at work developing.

Currently an extremely well-funded Kickstarter campaign (over $425,000+ pledged of their $20,000 goal), $159 will get you both a Hyperbell Kettlebell and Hyperbell Bar, which can quickly convert any single dumbbell into a kettlebell, and any two dumbbells into a barbell/curl bar. I can already close my eyes and see my Hyperbell system in the corner of my basement collecting dust with the rest of my unused exercise equipment.

Obviously, the concept is to replace (or have no need to buy) all the individual different weighted kettlebells and barbell plates a person may need for their workouts, and instead only require a set of dumbbells (the system also works with adjustable weight dumbbells, e.g. BowFlex’s SelectTech). A pretty clever idea, both for space-saving and money-saving purposes. I thought about buying one, but my wife told me that the only workout I’ll likely ever get from the purchase is removing the Hyperbells from the packaging. She knows me so well.

A space-saving work and workout setup designed to keep your mind & body healthy!

It has been one year of WFH and we all have quickly realized the need for furniture that can serve dual purposes and optimize space when we are working at home/living at work. Especially for the urban demographic that lives in compact apartments, it is a challenge to create a home office and also have space left for exercise equipment – another lifestyle change we have adapted to! This innovative desk design uses wall bars at its core with modular attachments that let you use it as your 9-5 set up and then transform it into beast mode.

“The designer wall bars are one of the most flexible wall bars in Germany. Can be installed anywhere in the room without dowels. Just stretch it between the floor and the rigid ceiling,” says the team on the no-screw assembly which is a huge USP especially if you are renting your home or move frequently. Shapely additions crafted from wood make the aesthetic wall bars a multifunctional fitness device for the whole family. You can customize it per your ceiling and your needs, in fact, the company also sells kid-friendly setups that have slides instead of workout benches! It lets you use a single corner for a home office, homeschooling, home gym, and a kid zone seamlessly without taking up an insane amount of space. On a personal note, I love that the desk height is adjustable given the Lego-style build because I can easily turn my table into a standing desk when needed!

Made in Germany, wall bars offer a particularly wide range of possible variations. In addition to many training options, the combination offers a functional workplace. The desk module is attached in a few seconds, without tools. The height is flexible, so it can be used as a desk or as a high table. After work, the desk module can simply be unhooked and folded in so that it can be stowed behind the wall bars, under the bed, or behind the door. With additions like the slide, the kids can find their movement-compensation on the wall bars even after work. These setups work for the whole family and the wooden finish lets it seamlessly blend with any interior aesthetic.
