I had literally forgotten about camcorders; I don’t even rightly remember the last time I used one. Since cameras on the smartphones have outdone handycams and reached near DSLR efficacy – at least with high-end models – there’s been a drastic slump in everyday usage of camcorders. Whether you want to capture family moments at home, record landscapes, or timelapse a sunset, mobile cameras are friendlier and convenient for doing it all. Chiefly because we have a smartphone on us 24/7 and an additional device is not necessary for taking pictures or recording videos.

This is why 90 Degree Instinct was an instant reminder for the moments of truth I have had with a Sony camcorder I now have lying dead in the vault. This guy is not another camcorder or a stark reminder for anyone like me that they existed. This is perhaps a utility accessory for anyone who loves capturing moments with their smartphone – especially the Samsung Galaxy Flip.

Essentially a case for the Galaxy Flip foldable smartphone; the idea is to help home chefs, influencers, and everyday social media buffs to shoot more professional videos by transforming the smartphone into a capable camcorder. The designer has particularly chosen the foldable Samsung phone for his experimental case concept because when the Flip is placed at a “90 degrees” angle, “it resembles the shape of a… small camcorder.”

By transforming the ordinary Flip into a camcorder, user can maximize its usability for capturing videos. The case offers the phone a camcorder-esque grip for better handling, and integrates a tripod inside, to present exceptional stability without additional accessories.

The added weight of the case may be a point of contention for those who prefer a sleek device, but if you can bear the bulk – which of course is way lesser than towing a portable tripod along – you can be rest assured that the 90 Degre Instinct will not compromise portability of the phone despite the additional functions.

Designed in a range of colors, the solid case comes with point-and-shoot buttons and a tripod mount on one side, and a foldable tripod embedded on the top. The foldable tripod hinge is robust and stands out with its metallic look against the granite appearance otherwise. With the given features and their functionality, I’m impressed! Perhaps I don’t have a Flip, but if you do, you should expect the case to see the light of day.

Make your iPhone 13 Max Pro or Galaxy S22 Ultra to look like Nothing Phone (1) for a change

Nothing Phone (1) is finally here after the immense hype – focused majorly on its Glyph interface LED lights on the rear that makes it stand out from the other mobile devices. Whether or not the smartphone lived up to its hype is too early to judge, but the transparent rear has surely turned eyeballs in the tech industry.

No one can deny the out-of-the-box design of Nothing Phone (1) – though there is the obvious iPhone 13 inspiration – the device has to be practical enough as a daily driver. For now, that Glyph interface has got everyone talking positively, and D Brand has even created custom skins for other smartphones to cover them up in the sci-fi futuristic look!

Yes, this is the coolest way to get that super cool translucent rear without shelling out money for the Nothing Phone (1). The device outfitter pros have created a line-up of cool case covers dubbed “Something” for the major flagships on the market. The attractive skin will be available for devices including the iPhone Pro Max, Pixel 6 Pro and the Samsung S22 Ultra. Depending on the response for these devices, support for even more handsets is inevitable. Dbrand plans to release a Nintendo Switch version too which will be interesting for mobile gamers.

Dbrand has been known for its snarky tactics in the past and in their pitch for this particular accessory, they suggested that “Something is better than Nothing.” On their website, it’s clearly mentioned that they could get a copyright notice for theft, but their belief is – this is plagiarism not theft of any kind. For buyers though, this is a nice prospect if they want to stick to their Apple, Samsung or Google devices but enjoy Nothing’s unique rear look. Especially for ones who won’t have the option to buy the Car Pei’s second offering in their region.

The skin shows the internals of the compatible device and with the Something branding in Nothing’s signature font, the users won’t complain. Of course, the Glyph interface will be missing, but still, a good look to flaunt. The detailing on these skins and cases is intricate – for instance – the S22 Ultra version has the S Pen placed inside the slot. The skin version of the Nothing Phone (1) themed rear is available for the aforementioned devices at a price tag of $24.95 while the grip case goes for $49.90. So, will you ultimately be going for Nothing or hold on to Something!

This iPhone 12 air cushion case provides safety + fun in one stylish package!

The iPhone 12 has unrivaled power under the hood courtesy of the A14 chip, and when it comes to the looks, it is equally good. Apple‘s minimal aesthetics of the smartphone are a style and status statement, not meant to be hidden by a thick case. You know where I’m heading now. Smartphone cases and covers provide a level of protection from accidental falls. Still, most times, they hide the beautiful design of the iPhone – it’s always a tug of war between the protection UAG cover’s military-grade protection or the slim aesthetic ones that give perfunctory safety.

Air Case for iPhone 12 is the next design evolution in smartphone cases that detours from the current design language. The iPhone 12 case conceptualized by product designer Philipp Pisarevskiy is made up of bloated cushions to absorb the energy of the fall impact, not letting it get through to the smartphone. As a result, the case sticks to the back of the Apple iPhone, and the protruding contours help hold the smartphone with confidence when taking calls or photographs with a single-handed grip. This way, you reduce the chances of the phone accidentally slip out of your hand and land on the concrete surface!

This iPhone case is a refreshing shift from the same old boring materials like leather, plastic, fabric, or rubber. The textured pattern of the Air Case adds to the lovable design of Apple’s best phone to date. It is a way of self-expression without limiting the design of the gadget, and Philipp has achieved it immaculately. My only gripe is the level of protection when the iPhone falls on its edges (there’s a high likelihood of that), and the designer can improve the design of this phone case to address this concern!
