Pet-friendly Console Table comes with a secret tunnel for your cat to play in

The “Choo Choo” console is a revolutionary creation in the realm of pet-friendly furniture. Beyond being a mere piece of décor, this console is a dedicated space meticulously crafted from natural materials like wood and cane webbing, aimed at enriching the connection between cats and their human companions.

Designer: Ricardo Sá

At first glance, the sleek and modern form of the Choo Choo console is reminiscent of a bullet train. The design not only exudes a sense of contemporary style but also embodies a sense of speed and efficiency. The creators have successfully merged the concept of high-speed transportation with the world of pet-friendly design, resulting in a unique and visually appealing piece.

The central focus of the console design revolves around the exclusive space dedicated to our feline friends. The middle shelves are a thoughtful creation with openings covered in cane webbing. These openings allow cats to observe the world outside, satiating their natural curiosity while providing a sense of security within the confines of the console.

Understanding the grooming needs of cats, the plinth of the console is lined with cat-friendly fabric. This surface serves as a cozy and inviting space for cats to clean their paws and nails comfortably. It’s a thoughtful addition that cat owners will appreciate, recognizing the importance of a dedicated grooming area within the living space.

Inside the console door, a discreet compartment is ingeniously designed to house a litter box. This not only provides privacy for the cat but also ensures a convenient and easily accessible location for cleaning. The seamless integration of the litter box within the console maintains the overall aesthetic while prioritizing the practical needs of both the cat and its owner.

Catering to the pet owner’s practical point of view, the top shelf of the console offers ample storage space for cat products. This strategic placement keeps essentials organized and within easy reach. The remaining shelves provide additional storage for everyday items, showcasing a successful blend of pet-friendly design with the practical needs of a modern home.

Crafted with precision and an understanding of both feline behavior and human lifestyle, the Choo Choo console not only elevates the living experience for cats but also enhances the aesthetic appeal of any home it graces. It stands as a prime example of how thoughtful design can seamlessly integrate pets into our living spaces, fostering a stronger and more enjoyable bond between humans and their furry companions.

Modular pet-friendly sofa that is a playground for your cats & a cozy couch for you

We often underestimate the importance of a great sofa in our living rooms. When in reality, we shouldn’t. The right sofa not only serves as a comfy and ergonomic seating option but also adds a certain depth of character and personality to the living room. An excellent sofa functions as the perfect spot to lounge about, have a snack, and or chill while interacting with your family and friends. And if you make the sofa pet-friendly, then it literally ticks off all the right checkboxes for me! And the Quarter Sofa by SUNRIU Design is all of these things combined.

Designer: SUNRIU Design

SUNRIU Design’s furniture pieces always tend to be thoughtfully designed. They have a minimal and subtle feel to them, but they also manage to be pretty practical and functional. And their pet-friendly designs somehow always hit the mark for me! For example, their Flow Sofa is a cozy armchair with adorable spiral armrests that your cat can snuggle up in. And the Quarter Sofa is another such design that I believe your cats and you will love.

Built using a mixture of wood and fabric (the fabric isn’t specified), the Quarter Sofa has two major characteristics – it is modular, and pet-friendly. The various modules of the sofa are in the shape of circles and squares, and they can be assembled, disassembled, and moved around to create a configuration that works perfectly for you, your home, and your cat. The unique configurations that you can make using the modules serve as a playground for cats! They can move and jump around them, even allowing them to play together, if you have multiple cats. Cats are curious creatures that love new adventures and mysteries, and I do believe the Quarter sofa could be a great one for them.

As for humans, the sofa looks super comfy and cozy to lounge about in. You can rearrange the modules to accommodate different numbers of people, and create an arrangement that best meets your seating requirements. The armrests and the base of the sofa are hollow, which serve as little nooks and crannies for your cats to sleep or play around in. You can also use these hollow spaces to store and display items such as magazines, books, and other tidbits. It’s a design that is perfect for humans and pets alike!

This pet-friendly e-scooter comes with a secure storage compartment for your dogs to ride shotgun!

Mopet is a pet-friendly e-scooter with an integrated storage compartment so small dogs can come along with you on rides in a secure crate.

There aren’t many options for dog owners to get around cities with their little pup in tow. Resolving to pulling their dogs on leashes or stowing smaller pups inside bicycle baskets, the options are either inconvenient or unsafe. Providing a solution for dog owners to crate their dogs around with them, Mopet is an electric scooter design that integrates a spacious and secure storage compartment where owners can keep their dogs while they scoot around from place to place.

Mopet was primarily designed as a means for city residents to bring along their little pups on trips that would be too far for smaller dogs. Since safety is the number one priority when considering modes of pet-friendly transportation, Mopet is equipped with plenty of safety features. Users can turn on the e-bike’s high beam LEDs when riding at night to make their e-bike and little dog visible to oncoming traffic.

Whether their city is going through its annual summer heatwave or their dog is too tired to keep walking, Mopet is outfitted with a large-capacity battery that allows travel for 60km with a full charge.

Foldable by design, Mopet features a hinge fastening system near the base of its handlebars that collapses to optimize the e-bike’s storability. Weighing only 25 kilograms (50 pounds), Mopet can easily slip into the trunk of a car.

When it comes to bringing your dog along on trips, considering your pet’s safety is a top priority. The designers behind Mopet introduced an innovative answer to pet-friendly modes of transportation. With an integrated fastening system and folding mechanism, Mopet strikes the perfect balance of safety and practicality.

This sleek modern pet furniture collection ditches fluff for a stylish blend of comfort and aesthetics!

This line of modern pet furniture from Nicolas Cunsolo features a dog bed, food bowl carrier, and a small toy for your dog to get a day’s worth of fun and relaxation.

Pet furniture tends to embrace fluff over modernity. It makes sense–dogs love the fluff. If they didn’t, our couches would still be intact. But the fluffier the dog bed, the less likely it is to fit in our homes.

Modern dog bed designs have come a long way from prioritizing comfort over versatility. Argentinian industrial designer Nicolas Cunsolo created a line of pet furniture for the modern home that maximizes comfort but doesn’t skimp out on aesthetics.

Cunsolo’s modern pet furniture is constructed with a wooden frame that props up a taut, yet plush cushion where your pup can rest. Designed with a curved base, the collection’s dog bed provides a slight overhang for your dog while they’re resting on the cushion. The pet furniture designed by Cunsolo is made of different materials to provide a flexible, yet rigid feel for the dog bed.

In addition to the dog bed, Cunsolo’s furniture collection comes with a water and food bowl station, composed of a wooden frame with two circular frames that keep bowls in place for your pup to eat and drink from.

The water and food bowl frame also has a wooden build, keeping a dark wood stain and polished look to appeal to more modern kitchens.

When dogs eat and drink from the frame’s bowls, a sliding mechanism angles them to meet your dog’s mouth. The raised platform and sliding mechanism make the bowl frame ideal for aging dogs who have trouble outstretching their necks.

Cunsolo also designed a small toy for dogs to play with that keeps a similar profile to the collection’s dog bed, echoing its curved and taut design. Dogs can play with the collection’s toy for a while, drink water from the raised bowl afterward until they find a bit of respite in the furniture line’s modern dog bed.

Designer: Nicolas Cunsolo

From pouncing around with the toy, to a much-needed water break, and finally a power nap, this collection has a little bit of everything.

Conceptualized in three different styles, the dog toy won’t look out of place in the living room.

Clean lines and an overall curved design offers a modern appeal to this collection of pet furniture.

Furniture meets cat lovers for designs that perfect your work-life-pet balance!

How many cats do you have at home? Since you are already here, I assume you are either a cat-slave or a cat entertainer. My cat is a middle-aged boy who truly believes he is great at trekking around all the furniture in the house. From day one, when he scooted about the house as a kitten intent on scratching and peeling away every bit of fabric from my sofa to my curtain, to the current day – when every new bag of plastic or a chair gets scrutinized by the sniffy nose and scratchy paws, my cat owns my furniture before me. So when I saw the furniture you will read about in the below article, I knew how much he would like it. It is like having a Japanese cat-cafe at my home office (I knew this day would come one day). So now keep your paws on your mouse and scroll below!

My needy, pet-loving self has tried to create a comfortable resting space for this cat. I’ve left nests of beach towels on my floor, hoping he’ll curl up on top of them. Sometimes I wonder, What could I do to make my bedroom his favorite place? The Gatrimonial bed frame, made by a company called CatLife, made this dream a reality. They make furniture that doubles as an adventurous cat’s dream. At first glance, the bed frame looks like a hollow base with circular entrances in each corner. It has plenty of space for your cat to stretch its limbs underneath your bed. When you lift the mattress, it reveals an elaborate maze to keep your feline entertained. The frame also has two sections with a splattering of tiny paw-sized holes that could either be peep-holes or a little trap for unsuspecting paw swipes. Your ankles will not appreciate it, but your cat will love the hunt.

In all the desk designs I’ve seen over the years, this is a first for me! It’s called ‘Ascend,’ and it’s been created by Dan Devine for all the cat ladies and fellas out there. Like any cat person will tell you, the moment you give attention to anything but your furry friend, they’ll find a way to lounge on your keyboard or knock over your utensils until it’s back on them! So designed with this in mind, the wood desk has been crafted with multiple ramps and landings for cats to perch up and play. So if you can’t fight ’em, invite ’em!

The Cat Flat has been carefully designed based on the advice of Sweden’s first cat psychologist, Susanne Hellman Holmström, who brought to light the 10 necessities apart from essentials that cats need for the best emotional and physical health. The needs range from scratching, cleaning fur, playing, discovering, being social, etc., and Cat Flat takes care of them all, keeping in mind they spend most of their time indoors. So think of it as a hybrid of a home and a jungle gym for your cat.

Pulpet initially consists of eco-friendly paper cutouts, which are ultimately handcrafted and put together to assemble a cat house in the shape of a geometric, sitting cat. Users can easily assemble Pulpet without any additional building components. Prepared with all the necessary contents for assembly, Pulpet is easily constructed by adhering the geometric faces together to form the shape of a cat. If, like me, the shape of a cat doesn’t readily come to your creative eye, an assembly manual comes included with the paper house cutouts.

Cat Person provides ‘whole cat care,’ as they call it, which means they’ve considered everything, even giving the shipping containers a second purpose. The team at Cat Person knows that your cat will inevitably find its way to a cardboard box in the recycling corner, so they’ve made their shipping containers convertible into feline-friendly toys. Cat Person looked to industrial design to make further use of cardboard boxes and found transformation possible in corrugated cardboard and seams. Chris Granneberg, a California-based industrial designer, SLATE, a San Francisco-based strategic design studio, and Paul Davis, a UK-based illustrator, were all called on by Cat Person to seamlessly turn their cardboard shipping boxes into playhouses fit for felines.

The Circle Zero from PLUTO is a smart litter box that takes care of your cat’s business. Designed to be fully automated, fully enclosed, and exceptionally silent, the litter box comes with a completely enclosed design to provide a private experience. Sensors on the box detect the cat’s presence and wait for a full 7 minutes after they’re done to automatically (and silently) scoop the waste from the litter and store it separately while completely containing and eliminating any odor. Once the waste compartment is full, you can use any bag or liner to collect it and throw it away.

Industrial designer Jong Hoon Yoon from Seoul, Korea, pondered the unique idea of thinking from a pet’s perspective and designing an intuitive TV stand. Christened “With,” the space-saving TV unit doubles as a cozy spot for your cat to never let go of. All this while being considerate of the kind human too. Yes, With considers the positioning of the cat and the fellow human, they both are in their comfort zone and don’t bother each other. For us, the TV is a mere entertainment source and lousy around on our couch binge-watching streaming content. But, on the other hand, the heat produced from the TV and the accompanying electronics is an opportunity for your pet to curl up and enjoy in their own space.

People in small living spaces use low furniture (such as rugs, floor chairs) to build intimate, relaxing areas, while cats prefer covert spaces, but there are not many places to hide or play due to the limited space. CatYou in a Circle by Jack Dogson (ironic, huh!)didn’t want to separate the pets from their owners, so it is designed to bring them together while also maintaining boundaries cleverly. The hollow armrests and backrest offer cats a playground and hiding territory, while the coffee table provides a place to sleep. The woven bamboo texture makes it possible for owners to see their cats even when they hide and play through its holes. The size of holes is different in different parts of the furniture to adapt to the pet’s needs and humans. For example, the backrest holes are smaller to make the cats feel more secure. But holes above are bigger so that when people lean on the sofa, they can see through the backrest and find their cats underneath.

Sharing space has become more challenging post-pandemic as our work and non-work lives have merged into one home, but we have also started spending a lot more time with our pets, who may be thinking, “why is this human taking over my favorite chair?” So Space International created catHAUS that encourages harmony between you and your cat when you are in the same space! The angular furniture piece was envisioned to be a domestic retreat for an undomesticated species. However, it incorporates your needs and your pet’s needs too – two different functions but in the same piece of furniture. For you, catHAUS is a seating option, and for your cat, it is a landscape of different textures. Playing off of the iconographic conventions of the familiar gable roof, catHAUS operates at the scale of both shelter and furniture.

Forget those ugly carpet-covered cat towers! Instead, give your furry friend a place to perch up and keep an eye on things with the Spaceship Gamma Clear Cat Perch by MYZOO. Feline tested and approved, the easy-to-mount design provides an elevated sanctuary for your cat to nap and hang out. A see-through dome provides your pet with panoramic views of your room, while well-placed vents keep the inside fresh. Crafted from a combination of transparent acrylic and wood in light and dark finishes, it’s also designed to accent your interior.

Dog-friendly, fun yet functional products you and your pet will love having at home!

Though I am a cat person through and through, I cannot help but go gaga over doggos from time to time. They are just so adorable, and not to mention insanely loving (a quality most cat owners aren’t used to witnessing in their pets). And as much as I love pampering my kittie cats with presents from time to time, I’m sure all dog owners feel the same. These products designed especially for your canines will be the perfect little present for them, because honestly, they deserve presents as much as anybody else, or even more! From comfy dog houses, an intimate sharing sofa, to even some cute winter apparel, we’ve got you covered!

Designed by Ekaterina Shchetina & Libero Rutilo, The Leaf can transform any plastic bottle into a doggy drinking apparatus. The Leaf comfortably wraps around the bottle, and when turned over, transforms into a water bowl for your dog to sip water from! Perfect for those dog walks, the Leaf retrofits onto any regular PET (PolyEthylene Terephthalate) bottle with the standard 28mm diameter threaded neck.

The Dog House Sofa by Seungji Mun is one of my favorite pieces. The sofa enables your doggo and you to lounge about together, while also retaining your respective personal space. The wooden armrest doubles up as a cozy hideaway for your dog. It’s a private section where he can laze around, with an opening in the armrest, allowing him to sneakily cuddle up to you!

The MKD9 Dog Haus has been crafted with Brazilian teak wood responsible for the classy look which rests on a powder-coated steel frame so it’s sturdy. To make it long-lasting, the base of the dog house is made from concrete which also adds to the existing strong structure. The MKD9 Dog Haus gives interiors the same importance it gave to the exteriors, it comes with a custom bed by Jax & Bones which is made of an ultra-luxe memory foam pillow

Designed by Cheerble Studio, Wickedbone is a bone-shaped interactive gaming device that performs like a truly smart, fun, and excitingly wicked companion for your dog. When your dog runs, Wickedbone chases it, creating an interactive fun experience for your pet! It can move and interact in 9 different ways, so your dog will stay engaged and entertained as it switches things up.

The pandemic has got us all being super cautious. Whether it’s face masks and shields, body suits, to PPE kits, we leave no leaf unturned in protecting ourselves from COVID-19. So, why should our dogs be an exception? Glen Wexler designed a product that is, well, very imaginative. He foresees us walking our dogs in huge transparent balls, which will not only prevent them from interacting or touching any outside surfaces but will also allow them to get their daily exercise. Is this the future of dog walking? I really do wonder.

Embellished with angular structures and elongated windows, the Deauville House by Bad Marlon Design Studio is a minimal little house for your dog. The windows allow sunlight and fresh air to freely flow into the dog house, allowing your doggo to wake up to the beautiful morning light streaming onto his face! What a perfect way to wake up in the morning.

The Fetch House (designed to shelter one incredibly happy canine) comes with a modular internal structure that allows you to compression-fit as many as a 1000 tennis-balls into it. The balls can randomly be pulled out of their individual enclosures for the purpose of playing fetch (hence the name), and can easily be press-fitted back in when done. Conversely, owners can add fewer balls to form patterns in the facade or create windows for light and ventilation.

The Air Cage was designed to be a rent-as-you-go service but it can also be opened to buying. You get your carrier in advance so your pet can familiarize themselves with it and have lesser anxiety during the flight. On the day of departure, your pet will be comfortable in the Air Cage which you can then handover to the attendants without any worry because you will be able to monitor your pet throughout the journey thanks to an in-built device. Apart from the real-time camera monitor, the carrier has many features to keep your pet comfortable – a water bottle, a pet bowl, and a bowel pad too!

Pet Paws is a high-tech sanitizing mat used to clean, disinfect, and dry the legs of our pets as well as the soles of our shoes. The efficient product design is a simple roll-up mat that is easy to carry and store. It has two areas on its surface – the first section of the mat has a multi-directional cleaning texture which bends and cleans inside the paws in a friendly manner, and the second section of the mat has a cushioned texture which helps to dry the paws as the pet walks over the microfiber sleeve.

Ademir Bueno designed this comfy little dog bed for Tok&Stok. The pet bed is a perfect lounging spot for your dog. It could be his own private space, a safe haven of sorts for him to catch some z’s. Not to mention the bed is quite minimal and subtle, allowing it to easily integrate with your living space, without standing out or looking too bulky.

This outfit by Huts and Bay is the perfect Christmas present for your canine friend! The cute little onesie will keep him warm during the winter season, and not to mention he will look insanely adorable in it. Also, notice the tiny yellow pocket! Maybe you could pop in his favorite snacks in it, for him to munch on whenever he feels like.

This modular cat furniture is designed to be a lounge for you and your pet!

Since everyone is staying home, a lot of our attention has been captured by the furniture around us which has got thinking about how it can be more multifunctional, space-saving, and aesthetic. Furniture design is moving towards a more flexible direction and CatYou in a Circle is a wonderful display of modular pieces that work for both humans and pets.

The set includes a floor sofa and a coffee table that aims to create a relaxing space for cats and their owners to have some downtime. Urban homes are only getting smaller and cat owners are faced with challenges to keep their pets entertained without taking up too much space. During quarantine, it has become more of a lesson as we share our space with them 24/7. The designer administered a questionnaire and after 233 responses it was found one-third of the cat owners living under 50 square meters. The four main problems that the design needed to solve based on their feedback were – not enough hiding space, cat furniture occupies too much living space, renovation is often not an option, and people want to have enough room to bond with their cats during playtime. The goal was to incorporate the behavior of people and cats in one design that worked to create a functional and playful space for both.

People in small living spaces use low furniture (such as rugs, floor chairs) to build intimate relaxing areas while cats prefer covert spaces, but due to the limited space, there are not many places to hide or play. CatYou in a Circle didn’t want to separate the pets from their owners so it is designed to cleverly bring them together while also maintaining boundaries. The hollow armrests and backrest offer cats a playground and hiding territory while the coffee table provides a place to sleep. The woven bamboo texture makes it possible for owners to see their cats even when they are hiding and play with through its holes. The size of holes is different in different parts of the furniture to adapt to the needs of the pet as well as humans. The backrest holes are smaller to make the cats feel more secure. But holes above are bigger so that when people lean on the sofa, they can see through the backrest and find their cats underneath. The armrest holes are bigger to offer more opportunities to interact. But holes above it are smaller to make resting your arms more comfortable. There are also two large holes on each side of armrests that allow the curious cats to pop their heads or hands out.

To make it more comfortable and cozy, fabric cushions are placed at the bottom of the armrests and the coffee table. They are skin-friendly and also absorb smell so it works especially well for smaller homes. The cushions are laundry-friendly and the armrests can be stretched out or pushed back in depending on the space and needs. The bamboo adds a touch of warmth and keeps it airy and visually light. Most cat furniture on the market is focused on either just the pet or just the interior aesthetic for the owners, it is rare to find pet furniture that works for the behavioral and spatial needs of both while still upholding the standards of style. CatYou in a Circle emphasizes the concept of “passive companion”, which leaves an autonomous space for cats. Flexible furniture should be extended to pets as well, after all, our house belongs more to them than it does to us!

A pet-friendly sofa made just for you and your ‘Pawfect’ buddy!

Well, first things first, I’m an avid pet lover and I own two fluffy Persian cats myself. So, the thought of having a space I can share with my furry friends fills me up with excitement! Though the “Dog House Sofa” by Seungji Mun seems to be targeted specifically at canines (as is implied in its name) I do believe it could be a comfortable lounging spot for any species of pets. The inspiration behind the Dog House Sofa is pretty noble. In an attempt to raise awareness about the ever-increasing number of abandoned dogs, Seungji created the Dog House Sofa “to enhance the harmony between humans and their pets”.

The sofa is the first design for the pet furniture brand “mpup”. Created out of solid wood ash and fabric upholstery, the sofa can seat two people. The entire piece is draped in neutral shades of beige and mocha, so no jarring colors to alarm your pet!  The wooden armrest also doubles as a cozy hideaway for your pets. It’s a private section where they can laze around, with an opening in the armrest, allowing them to sneakily cuddle up to you! Such a design enables the two of you to interact but also provides sufficient personal space, without your pet destroying your beloved upholstery (for a change).

“This Dog House Sofa is a tool to communicate and share feelings between human and pet,” says Mun. “Combining the sofa and dog house delivers [a] new space of communication between human and pet.” The South Korean designer is no newcomer to pet-friendly furniture, but we must say with his Dog House Sofa he’s really tackled the problem of spending sufficient quality time with our ‘pawfect’ buddies!
