Clothespin-inspired tape dispenser clamps right onto the side of your study table

Quirky yet incredibly convenient, the ClampTape by Peleg Design ensures you always have a tape dispenser handy no matter where you are. Its clothespin-inspired design clamps onto any tabletop surface, giving you an instant dispenser right at arm’s length. The best (yet most understated part)? It can be used with one hand, unlike some lightweight tape dispensers that need to be held down with the second hand!

ClampTape comes from the minds of the folks at Peleg Design, known for their products that combine emotional design with problem-solving to deliver designs with fun experiences and strong storytelling abilities. The ClampTape is one such product that’s just cute and convenient at the same time. The clamp itself is made from bent sheet metal, with a rubber/polymer sleeve around the clamping jaws so that it doesn’t damage your table. It hardly requires any learning curve – just clamp it and begin using it!

The ClampTape fits desks between 0.4 and 1.8 inches in thickness. It comes with its own roll of tape, although you can refill it once you run out. Perfect for stationery nerds or even car enthusiasts, given that the ClampTape looks like a car battery clamp too!

Cymbal Clapping Monkey Tape Dispenser

Just when you thought tape dispensing couldn’t get any more exciting, Amazeko has released this Clapping Monkey Tape Dispenser. Available on Amazon (affiliate link), the monkey happily claps his cymbals whenever you pull on the tape. Obviously, this is going to make wrapping presents in secret a bit more challenging.

The tape dispenser features a non-slip weighted banana base so it stays put while in use, and takes regular 1-inch core tape rolls like 3M or Scotch, up to 3/4″ in width. Considering all my work is performed digitally, I’ve got no real reason to have a tape dispenser on my desk at work. Well, besides taping ‘KICK ME’ signs to the backs of coworkers and getting written up by HR, but I think we can all agree that’s reason enough. Please don’t fire me, the monkey was egging me on with all his clapping!

I just showed it to my wife in my Amazon cart but she quickly looked away with an “Absolutely not,” and now I regret showing her in the first place. In the past, I’ve found it’s best to order things like and schedule delivery to make sure they arrive on days when she’s at work, but I thought she’d actually think this was cute. Oh well, she works on Friday.

T-Rex Skull Tape Dispenser: Add a Little Dino to Your Desk

Make no bones about it, this t-rex skull tape dispenser is officially the coolest tape dispenser I’ve seen. Made and sold by Etsy shop Meow3DStore, the 3D printed dispenser is available in a variety of colors and sizes (standard is a surprisingly large 5″ x 4″ x 3.6″) and is really going to bring a touch of prehistoric times to my office, which I feel it’s been missing. Plus a desk and a chair.

Seeing one in a person’s hand really puts its size into perspective. This isn’t your grandma’s tape dispenser! I mean, unless your grandma is 66-million years old and used to hunt dinosaurs, then she might use an actual t-rex skull for a tape dispenser. Hardcore!

I don’t know about you, but I’ve never been more excited to wrap presents this Christmas thanks to my recently purchased t-rex skull tape dispenser. And not just the gifts I bought myself, but mostly the gifts I bought myself, because I know what I like.

This mindfully designed tape dispenser brings one-handed application to this useful stationery!

Won’t it be great to use a tape dispenser just one-handed without all the mess that ensues? This cool stationery does exactly that with its smart design.

A tape dispenser is a cool invention that looks simple but solves a very essential purpose that millions have utilized at some point in their life. But if you do want to be a little picky, tape dispensers also have their own set of shortcomings. First of all, you need to use both hands and the functionality similar to a glue gun or nail gun is longed for here. Secondly, no matter how hard you try, the fingerprint marks and contamination while removing the tape will always be a problem.

To add to this, the process of using tape from such dispensers is a bit long and won’t it be great if that is addressed? This is the O N tape dispenser by Fountain Studio, designed specifically to address all these issues while being aesthetically functional and good-looking. Most of all, it brings one-handed use to the good old tape dispenser, a feature that all of us will highly appreciate.

The design of O N is centered on the two holes at the bottom. The first hole keeps the tape bonded and pressed to the rubber pad for uninterrupted, continuous usability. The second hole has a button along the cutter sign to cut the tape off when required. This way, the user doesn’t have to bring the second hand into play which can be an irk at times with conventional tape dispensers.

Other than that the O N tape dispenser has a similar-looking tape refill dispenser that rolls along as the tape is used. To make it easy for the user, there is a hole in the body to check the amount of tape left.

Clearly, this is a very intelligently designed concept prototype that I’m wishing hits the market sooner rather than later. It is actually that good – bringing a very useful evolution to the tape dispenser that each one of you is going relish!

Interactive desktop accessories that give you a nostalgic break during those incessant zoom meetings!

3Dview

To quote Don Norman, “Everything has a personality: everything sends an emotional signal. Even where this was not the intention of the designer, the people who view the website infer personalities and experience emotions.”

The swing set was my favorite playtime hobby, although I’d be lying if I said my infatuation with them has decreased with age. The thrill of swinging up into the air and the squeal of joy while swinging back to earth gave me a feeling of weightlessness and carefree joy that encapsulates childhood and nostalgia for me. That must be the same principle that led designer Aree Song to design these fun desktop accessories named Momento, to help you capture that little bit of joy and give you a much-needed escape from your mundane chores.

Momento is Spanish for ‘take a moment’, which is exactly what these accessories give you. Doubling simple forms and basic colors with the functionality we need in every work setting, Moment comprises three unique objects. The first is a tape dispenser that mimics the action of a swing. Second is a pop of yellow that is a pen holder, with a retractable bottom that rests flat when holding a pen and when flipped, it holds your pen in a seesaw-inspired rocking motion. Third, is a triangular cord organizer that also follows the up and down sliding movement that thrilled us as kids. Simple, fun, and essential, each of these designs is sure to find a place on your desks.

Marie Kondo’s philosophy of sparking joy is the motivating factor in these designs, with each one creating an emotional connection with the user. This adds a new dimension to the core utilitarian aspect of these everyday products – the products that have been a staple for years but get a new life here. We know form follows function – and here the form follows two functions – the act of sharpening, dispensing tape, or arranging cords and evoking joy. Beautiful isn’t it?!

This animal-inspired tape dispenser is just elephantastic!

Part stationery part pachyderm, the Elefun is just a fun little tape dispenser that pulls inspiration from the elephant’s trunk. In fact, it treads the line with its abstract form and blue color too, not really being obvious about where its inspiration comes from, but taking enough from the shape of the elephant’s trunk for its user to make that association. Is it life-changing? Probably not. Is it spectacular enough to be inducted into MoMA? I doubt it. Is it a fun exercise that combines creativity with childlike playfulness? That, it definitely is!

Worst Star Wars Merchandise Ever: Imperial Stapler and Tape Dispenser

There’s a ton of great collectible merchandise out there for fans of sci-fi, comics, and fantasy. While they’re not all perfect,  most of the merchandising tie-ins are at least somewhat logical these days. And then there’s stuff like this.

This Star Wars stapler and tape dispenser make zero sense at all. That is, unless I missed a scene where the Empire’s accountants were putting together budgets for the construction of the Death Star or something. But even George Lucas wasn’t tempted to include that in the prequels alongside all the boring political talk.

Bioworld’s ruthless cash-grab merch include a black plastic stapler embellished with a TIE fighter pattern and the words “Crush the Rebellion.” Seriously, even Milton in Office Space wouldn’t have cared if someone stole this stapler. The matching tape dispenser doesn’t even achieve the same level of mediocrity as the stapler. It just has some silhouettes of TIE fighters and paint spatter that’s supposed to look like a starfield. Talk about phoning it in. I haven’t seen Star Wars merchandising this bad since that Revenge of the Sith toilet paper.

I’m not even going to tell you where you can buy these things because whoever came up with them doesn’t deserve to see one red cent in profits.

Fallen AT-AT Tape Dispenser Turns Your Desk into Hoth

You know, for as big and badass as AT-ATs are, they’re kind of cute too. Perhaps that’s why we cheer when the snowspeeder takes one of these down with tow cables, we can’t help feeling a little sad when it falls. Or maybe that’s just me.

AT-ATs are like big mechanical dogs. The Emperor was just trying to take ’em for a walk when those rebels attacked. Anyway, do you love AT-ATs? We all do. So naturally, we all need one of these cool fallen AT-AT tape dispensers created by Hallmark. It looks like an AT-AT that just got taken down by the Rebellion, and has been converted into the world’s largest tape dispenser. It’s the perfect desk accessory for the Star Wars fan who has everything… except a tape dispenser.

It’s a great way to remember the fallen giant from The Empire Strikes Back and to honor the proud mechanical beast. It will cost you $45 over on Amazon. Sure that’s a little pricey for a tape dispenser, but come on, it’s an AT-AT tape dispenser. You know you want to make your desk look all snowy like Hoth and put this bad boy in the scene. That’s the beginning of a great Christmas display right there.
