A Paper Cat Tower To Keep Your Feline Friends Engaged And Embrace The Royalty They Deserve

Looking almost like a shipping container home for cats, this quaint little box-shaped shelter employs stiff paper boards that come together wonderfully to create robust yet lightweight boxes for your feline friends to rest in, paw at, and potentially even play around on top of. Using sustainable materials (that can then be composted after their time is over), the boxes stack up wonderfully, creating everything cats need, from multiple entry points to elevated vantage points, and even a hanging toy to keep those curious little critters entertained!

Designer: HyeongJin YoonByungJun Lee, and Maro S

At the heart of Cat Box’s construction lies the innovative use of honeycomb board, a sturdy material that blends a core and honeycomb structure between plywood layers. Compressed with finishing materials on both the front and back, honeycomb board is an environmentally friendly choice, aligning seamlessly with the contemporary trend of embracing recyclable and reusable paper-based materials. This not only ensures the well-being of our feline companions but also contributes to a sustainable and eco-conscious approach to pet product design.

Creating a haven for feline royalty necessitates a thoughtful consideration of space utilization. Cat Box excels in this aspect by ingeniously designing vertical spaces, such as walls or ceilings, to accommodate cat-friendly areas. Recognizing that for cats, elevated viewpoints in vertical spaces are of paramount importance, Cat Box stands as a testament to the understanding of feline behavior and needs.

The centerpiece of the feline kingdom, a cat tower, serves as both a cozy retreat and an engaging playground. Designed with a keen awareness of cats’ natural inclination for heights, the cat tower not only provides a lofty vantage point but also a snug haven for rest and play within the cat kingdom. This unique structure becomes an essential element, offering feline residents the perfect combination of comfort and activity.

Cat Box goes beyond the ordinary by incorporating playboards on its sides, catering to the whims and fancies of our discerning feline friends. These boards seamlessly alternate between nose workboards and scratchboards, ensuring that the kingdom administrators are always attuned to the preferences of their furry residents. This thoughtful addition enhances the overall experience, turning Cat Box into a multifaceted haven for our regal companions.

The hanging toy, strategically placed within Cat Box’s vertical spaces, captures the attention of our feline residents. With their curiosity piqued the cats approach this small and special toy with eager eyes, examining its various colored elements. This delightful feature adds an extra layer of stimulation, creating an interactive environment that keeps our feline friends entertained and engaged.

For the overseer of the feline kingdom, Cat Box offers a convenient cat carrier, allowing them to go outside with their regal pals. Inside the carrier, plush cushions await, meticulously prepared to cater to the discerning preferences of our royal felines. This thoughtful inclusion ensures that even the journey beyond the kingdom’s borders remains a comfortable and enjoyable experience for our cherished companions.

Cat Box is a harmonious blend of elegance, innovation, and functionality in the realm of feline products. Crafted with care and consideration, this paper cat tower offers a unique and enchanting experience for both cats and their devoted human companions, redefining the standards of feline luxury in a sustainable and eco-friendly manner.

Tasteful & Functional Cat Tree Is Designed As An Excellent Alternative To Cheaply Made Cat Furniture

For most of us, our pets aren’t simply pets! They’re our children and babies we consider our blood. We take care of them the way we would take care of our kids, and leave no stone unturned to ensure they are happy, healthy, and safe. If you’re looking for a new and improved way to take better care of your pet then you may want to look into Papuk’s CONNECT Collection by Vazken Karageozian.

Designer:Vazken Karageozian for PAPUK

Designed by Toronto-based interior designer Vazken Karageozian, the CONNECT Tree is an elegant and functional cat tree that is the ultimate haven for the kitties. Karageozian has two adorable felines himself – Grayson and Ella, and he decided to use his design talent to create something exceptional for his two favorite clients. As a result, Papuk which is Armenian for “soft and fluffy” was created.

The CONNECT Collection by Papuk offers a modular approach to the construction and design of a cat tree. It designs a cat tree as a multi-level system that can be personalized and customized with a bunch of attachable accessories, in turn creating a comfortable, cozy, and fun recreational activity for your cats, providing them with something else to do besides scratching and climbing your couch. The CONNECT Tree serves as the foundational element of the CONNECT system. It is the centerpiece of the multi-accessory system and is supported by other elements such as a scratching pad, cushion, tray platform, and hanging toy – which are available as a bundle or à la carte.

One of the designer’s motivations for creating the CONNECT Collection was the fact that most cheaply made cat furniture is disposed of in landfills owing to their poor and questionable construction and designs. The CONNECT Tree, on the other hand, features solid-ash dowels, ash-veneered plywood shelves, and accessories that can be added using genuine leather straps. The CONNECT Tree is designed by Vazken Karageozian as a solution that offers “inter-species happiness”, which is often found lacking in the pet product category.

The Perfect Playground: Miniature Cityscape-shaped Furniture Designed for Inquisitive Cats

Cats are perhaps the most adaptable creatures around. They’re perfectly independent in the wild, have the same survival instincts in the urban jungle, and even when kept indoors, are just as capable of figuring stuff out. A lot of that boils down to the cat being an innately curious, hands-on animal that isn’t afraid to say no to a new challenge. Designed for these cats, the Mocats Multifunctional Cat Furniture lets indoor cats have a taste of the outdoor world. Shaped like a city skyline, the adaptable, modular furniture gives cats their own buildings, apartments, and roofs to explore and conquer. The modular design allows cat-parents to build out the kind of toy that fits their space perfectly. Undulating rooftops add a wonderful touch to the home’s decor, while providing a uniquely intricate piece of furniture for your cat to explore and rest in.

Designer: La Jato del Gato

The brains behind Mocats are a pair of architects and devoted cat owners who understand the delicate balance between feline comfort and human aesthetics. Their inspiration stems from the idea of creating adaptable spaces that cater to the ever-changing needs of cats and their owners. In short, when your cats grow in size or in numbers (or even when they get bored of the old layout), the Mocats can be expanded or altered to keep your furry friends engaged. These cat-scale spaces are built on the principles of flexibility and growth, ensuring that your pet’s furniture evolves with them.

Mocats takes the interaction between humans and cats to a new level. The act of assembling each module and configuring various circuits becomes a bonding experience between human and cat. Owners are given the freedom to choose the pieces and configurations that suit their lifestyle, enhancing the connection between them and their feline companions.

At the heart of Mocats is its modular design, which allows your cat to scratch, climb, hide, observe, sleep, and play to their heart’s content. But it doesn’t stop there – these eco-friendly furniture pieces seamlessly integrate into your home’s decor, adapting to your lifestyle and available spaces. Crafted from cardboard and plywood, Mocats utilizes a manufacturing process that excludes toxic additives, only relying on traditional fixtures like dowels and washers, and ensuring the safety and well-being of your pets. Digital design programs and laser cutting technology are employed to create precise templates and components, bringing down production costs while making assembly a breeze.

The Mocats Multifunctional Cat Furniture is a Silver Winner of the A’ Design Award for the year 2023.

Igloo is a side table that also gives your cat a cozy home

Space is already at a premium for humans today, and adding a pet to the mix could complicate matters a bit. In addition to your own stuff, you also have to take into account your pet’s toys and bed, not to mention the things that it might choose to make its bed, with or without your consent. That’s not a reason not to get a furry companion, of course, but it is a reason to think about your furniture choices. Humans today tend to gravitate towards modular or multi-functional pieces of furniture, but there’s little reason both people and animals can’t share the same things. This side table, for example, looks like any ordinary wooden table except for the spherical shape underneath that can become your cat’s favorite sleeping place.

Designer: Joao Teixeira

Cats just love boxes. Or, to be more precise, they love enclosed spaces that give them a sense of security and safety. They are often more interested in packaging rather than the toy that was inside it, and it is commonly known that they’d sit or sleep inside anything they can fit into. So rather than waste time and money on a separate bed they may or may not like, why not make smarter use of space that’s already being occupied anyway.

“Igloo” might be a weird name for a table, but it is a very accurate description of the odd structure beneath the tabletop. Although it looks almost like an odd UFO, the flattened sphere is designed to be a cozy bed for your feline. Rather than a typical box, a round shape was chosen because it conformed better to how cats often curl up when sleeping. The shape is also almost completely closed off save for the oval opening in front, providing the warmth cats crave in boxes.

Of course, Igloo is also a table designed for humans, and it provides both functionality and decor to living spaces shared with animals. It can be placed beside your bed, keeping your companion close to you, or it can be left in the living room or any other room, giving your cat a space to call its own. The wooden legs and tabletop present a material contrast to the cat’s “igloo,” which is made of plastic. The unpainted legs complement the white paint of both the table’s surface and the cat’s comfy home. Although the cat is unlikely to appreciate it, cutouts around the legs on the tabletop give Igloo a visually interesting shape to attract humans’ attention.

While it’s definitely a smart way to combine two functions into one piece of furniture, it leaves at least one question open. The table itself looks stable, but a cat’s coming and going is sure to cause some movement. It might not be a good idea to place certain objects on the table, like fragile decor or even cups filled with drinks. Something with some form of dynamic stabilization could fix that problem, but that would also take away the table’s minimalist charm.

This wall mountable cat bed gives your cat a place to lounge up high while saving your space

Solar is a floating cat bed that mounts to any vertical surface to give your cat a resting spot up high and to save you floor space.

When it comes to designing cat furniture, the limit does not exist. Cats will turn anything into their personal stomping grounds. Whether it’s your laptop’s keyboard or the top of your entertainment center, cats will find it and transform it into their private playground.

MyZoo, a cat goods company, designs modern cat furniture that caters to your cat’s every need, while not disrupting your interior design. Solar, one of their more recent designs, is a wall-mountable floating cat bed that mounts onto any vertical surface so cats rest midair in their own designated space.

Shaped like the sun, Solar is a small, but sturdy floating cat bed that’s built from pinewood. In a similar fashion to their other pieces of cat furniture, MyZoo lined Solar with a slotted resting platform for safe jumping. Ideal for small spaces, Solar provides a resting spot and jumping platform for your cat and saves space in the meantime.

Unlike bulky cat towers and stringy scratching pads, Solar doesn’t take up any ground space and easily mounts to any wall where there’s room. Since cats love heights, MyZoo figured Solar was the best of both worlds–a space-saver for cat owners and an ideal resting spot for cats. Solar is also easy-to-assemble and even comes with assembly instructions, which can be found on YouTube, to streamline the assembly process.

This three-tiered cat tower features wraparound banisters that give your pets a private nook to rest

Ara is a three-tiered cat resting station that’s defined by a double set of wraparound banisters to provide cats with a sense of privacy on a piece of furniture designed especially for them.

Cat owners know their cats like their privacy. Throughout the day, your pets will find their favorite hiding places in your closet, underneath the couch, or behind the television console. Cats even like these hiding places so much that they sometimes prefer them to the furniture designed especially for them.

They soon become disinterested in the cat towers and climbing posts that have them resting out in the open in front of everyone. Ara, a three-tiered cat resting station designed by Juan Esteban Restrepo Tabares, combines a subtle sense of privacy with cushioned resting levels for cats to feel secluded while making use of their own furniture.

Ara is defined by two sets of wraparound banisters that cradle three levels of cushioned resting areas. Walking through the center walkway, cats find the first resting level where they can make full use of its area. Then, accessible through a central cavity, cats can climb up to the second tier where they can perch high above the ground, to look out over their home space. On the station’s second level, cats are covered on all corners with a roof, floor, and walls, evoking a sense of privacy. Finally, cats can climb through another central cavity to reach Ara’s topmost, open-air level where cat owners can pet and show their cats some love while they sleep.

This cat furniture system features multifunctional modules for cats and their humans both to enjoy!

Me;ow is a modular cat furniture system that features multifunctional modules for humans and cats to enjoy.

The feline urge to scratch the first piece of furniture in the home you see—cats have an instinctual urge to scratch in order to express certain emotions like excitement or stress, to mark objects with their scent, or just to stretch.

Unfortunately, that instinct is usually taken out on our sofas, armchairs, and wooden furniture. In response, many designers have been conceptualizing modular, feline-friendly furniture that looks right at home in any modern living room, not just the cat’s den.

Me;ow, one such modular cat furniture design, takes feline-friendly furniture and makes it palatable for human taste too. Comprised of multiple, colorful sofa modules, Me;ow features differently shaped cushions that link together to form various furniture configurations. The different pieces of Me;ow also have integrated cat-specific features that encourage your cat to get down with their feline urges to their heart’s content.

On one rectangular module that can doubly be used as a seat rest for humans, cats can enjoy an embedded scratching board to paw away at while their human relaxes on the couch. Another cylindrical module can attach to the seat rest module and function as an armrest while providing a fun tunnel in which cats can lounge or play. Then, standalone modules work as buffers between the multifunctional pieces to provide more cushion space for both you and your cat. Me;ow even features a side table module with an integrated bed below the tabletop where cats can get their snooze on.

The colorful modules all link together with a secure fastening mechanism for extended and durable playtime. Equipped with a climbing system, Me;ow also comes with freestanding modules that can mount on any wall to provide a space for your cat to romp and jump a safe distance away from the ever-so scratchable furniture.

This flatpack cat tower comes with integrated scratching posts and a top bed for functionality and comfort!

Float is a flatpack cat tower with built-in scratching pads that can be assembled in just a few steps.

Keeping cats entertained is a losing game. With all of the toys we buy for our feline friends, they still seem to prefer the armchair for scratching and balls of yarn for chasing. But then, that rare piece of furniture comes along made specifically for them that becomes their favorite spot for a midafternoon cat nap.

It might come through as a scratching post that catches their claws in just the right spots, or a cushioned bed that’s snugger than the corner of the couch. Or, it might be Float, a four-tier cat tower designed by João Teixeira that blends versatile design with comfort and simplicity.

Amounting four levels, Float is a flatpack cat tower with integrated features like scratching posts and movable seat rests. Following a client’s specifications and criteria, Teixeira designed Float so that it would blend into any modern home. Taking on a Scandinavian-inspired overall look, Float achieves a minimalist profile through natural, unstained wooden rods as well as cool, gray felt cushions.

From its final look to its assembly process, Float was designed to optimize functionality and versatility. Opting for a vertical, single tower build, Float is aptly sized for smaller homes as well as larger living rooms, fitting snugly in any corner of the room. Comprised of only a few parts, Float has been given a plywood base that bolsters wooden rods connected to one another by elastic tubing.

Throughout the main wooden rod’s length, Teixeira incorporated scratching posts so that cats will always be within paw’s reach of a scratchy surface. Before tightening the whole tower together, cat owners can adjust the distance between each felt pad as well as the overall height of the Float cat tower. Based on an assembly process of threaded wooden rods, the height can be adjusted by adding or removing modules.

Designed for cats, this multi-tiered tower creates a safe and fun spot for your pet to play!

Three Poles Cat Tower is a revamp of designer Jiyoun Kim’s earlier modular home cat tower, featuring fuller proportions and a cleaner layout.

Finding cat furniture that fits in with the rest of your living room can feel like an impossible feat. Stringy, carpeted cat towers don’t do anything to bring out sleek modern design elements and all scratching posts do is take up space on the living room floor. Back in 2020, Jiyoun Kim conceptualized a modular cast tower specifically designed for shorter cats and those with limb issues. Giving rise to its next-generation counterpart, Kim’s Three Poles Cat Tower has fuller proportions and a stronger base for cats of all heights and sizes.

Originally developed for cats and humans to co-inhabit the same living spaces without compromising interior design, Three Poles Cat Tower maintains the same midcentury flair that defined its predecessor and strengthened the overall build of the tower for cats to play around without fear of falling. Speaking to the redesign of Three Poles Cat Tower’s earlier model, Kim notes, “The overall proportion was carefully redesigned, and the lower metal base was strengthened, so it could be harmonious alongside the normal type tower while being easier for short-legged cats to use.”

Starting with the unit’s base, Kim pays tribute to the OG cat towers that featured thick, plush carpeting from top to bottom. Stripping it back to a tightly drawn, thin layer of dense carpet, the base of Three Poles Cat Tower is soft to the touch, without the stringiness of long, thick carpet covers. Three poles bloom from the base to create contact points for resting perches to latch onto, creating four circular bases that rise in staggered order towards the top of the tower, where a bell and string hang for your cats to poke at and pluck.

Designer: Jiyoun Kim Studio

Additional modules can attach to the top poles to create taller towers.

With a midcentury modern flair, the Three Poles Cat Tower fits into any contemporary living room with dark design elements.
