A doorbell that screens the temperature of your guest to ensure they do not have a fever.

Double vaccination, Delta variant, booster shots – these are the new terminologies that have been added to the world’s vocabulary in the past 1.5 years. Such is the quick passage of time in 2021 that we actually sit down and wonder, that it is almost September and we are entering the final quarter of 2021 soon, with no end to COVID in sight. In actuality, many of us are still suffering from anxiety in crowds and the ‘normality’ some people are exhibiting when outdoors. Compulsive sanitization has become a constant and honestly when someone breaks the basic hygiene, it makes me anxious. The designers at DAWN Studio understand us and have added a seamless way to reassure us of our health and safety within the parameters of every day designed objects.

Titled the BELL, this deceivingly simple design packs an extremely useful feature. The BELL visually resembles the traditional doorbell’s we would see, bringing to mind a quaint nostalgia. At the same time, the tongue of this doorbell acts as a sensor, allowing the person pressing your doorbell to automatically verify their temperature, all in one action.

The gadget consists of 2 parts – the indoor module and the outdoor module. The touch center and a digital display show the temperature of the visitor to themselves. If your temperature reads higher than 36 degrees, it is the visitor’s prerogative to step away and help stop the spread of their infection.  The indoor module gives the users more options – to communicate with the guest, to switch on the light that is discreetly hidden under the lamp and more.

Aesthetically speaking, the entire gadget retains an almost nostalgic vibe – the bell is shaped like the ones we see in an old-school hotel reception desk, prompting the user to ring it. The slight metallic accents add to the retro feel whereas the modern body keeps it fit for all decor styles.

Tiny attention to detail makes the design more wholesome, and that is exactly what happens with this design, like the light that keeps the panel lit up in the nighttime. Quaint, simple yet a solution to a problem that is a need of the hour, the BELL is here to literally save you by the bell!

This smart doorbell’s radar sensing 5MP HD camera can detect faces, packages, and read license-plates

What good is a pair of eyes outside your door if it can’t work around the clock to protect you from all sorts of threats?

Most smart doorbells are great, but they offer some type of compromise. Either they share your data with giant corporations, or they have low-quality cameras that can’t handle day or night vision. Maybe they aren’t equipped to alert you when it comes to package theft, or they end up accidentally alerting you when the neighbor checks into their own house. The 360 Video Doorbell X3 tackles these common issues with a high-definition 5MP wide-angle camera that captures in crisp detail, and a wide dynamic range that makes sure your videos are clear no matter what time of the day. The WDR technology ensures that you see the faces of people clearly, even if they’ve got sunlight shining from behind them (washing their faces out), or if they’re wearing a hoodie. The camera works at night too, balancing out the image to make sure videos are captured with full clarity at night too.

Perhaps the 360 Video Doorbell X3’s most defining feature, however, is its radar-sensing technology that lets you set your video scanning perimeter. The bell’s high-precision radar and built-in AI can sense object paths and tell when a human or animal is approaching the door as opposed to walking right past it. Facial recognition can help identify between friends + family, and outsiders or visitors; and object recognition can even track parcels left at your doorstep, so if the doorbell detects a suspicious person walking towards the parcel on your porch, it triggers an alert. Conversely, it eliminates false positives by not alerting you if someone walks past your house, or a car happens to drive down the road. The 5MP camera can capture details with significant clarity, and if this suspicious individual came with a car or bike, it even records their license plate number on video. All alerts (from friends visiting, to packages being delivered, to uninvited intruders) are sent directly to your phone in real-time.

The doorbell comes with its own built-in speaker that lets you converse with people outside. If you’re away, you can choose to play automated recordings or custom alarm-sounds too, and a nifty voice-changer can help surprise/deter any thieves who try to break in. The doorbell has its own tamper-proof system too, ensuring it doesn’t get stolen and records evidence when someone tries to steal it. Mounting the doorbell is as easy as either screwing it into the wall (using a mounting bracket and your current doorbell’s wiring), or sticking it to a door using the adhesive backing. The smart doorbell runs on its own built-in 5000mAh battery (which charges via Type-c and runs for 6 months) although there’s the option of a snap-on 10000mAh battery pack which extends its run-time by a full year. The bell’s weather-resistant build quality ensures it works throughout the year no matter the weather, and all videos are encrypted and stored locally for free, with the option of even being uploaded to the cloud (in encrypted format) for a nominal fee… and just like every smart doorbell, it’s compatible with your smart-home and works with both Alexa and Google Assistant.

Each 360 Video Doorbell X3 comes with a free chime that can be plugged in indoors (the chime works as a wi-fi booster too), and an optional 10000 mAh battery pack as an add-on. The basic version of the 360 Video Doorbell X3 (with the chime) ships at a super early-bird price of just $89, with the estimated delivery set for April this year.

Rechargeable Built-in Battery

The X3 comes with a rechargeable battery (5000mAh), with a 6 months battery life on a single charge. Moreover, 360 provides an add-on battery pack that can be used to recharge the doorbell without disassembling or can be mounted to it for an astonishing 18 months of battery life in total.

The X3 features a state-of-the-art 5 Megapixel High-Resolution Camera to capture and preserve video in stunning 2496*1920 resolution so that you can even see the license plates on cars!

WDR Technology

The WDR (wide dynamic range) technology balances contrast, capturing startlingly clear details even in low light conditions or when figures are backlit.

Package Detection

The X3 can automatically detect when there’s a package at your door and send you real-time notifications.

Featuring facial recognition, the doorbell can actually distinguish between friends, family, or strangers, so you always know who’s been to your home.

Motion Recording

Once something sets off the motion sensors, the 360 X3 immediately activates, capturing 10 to 30 seconds clips and sending them to you, instantly viewable in real-time and available for replay later. If necessary, you can share them or download them to your phone.

Free Local Storage

The X3 serves as a chime yet provides local storage to safely store videos or snapshots for you to review at your convenience. And it also serves as a dual-band Wi-Fi amplifier with up to 984ft range*, extending your Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home, and ensuring two-way audio and visual calls through your doorbell are never dropped.

Work with Alexa

Check your front door, message, or video chat with your visitors all via voice control. Your digital assistant will instantly notify you when someone approaches and show a live view of your front door on your device whenever someone presses the doorbell.

The do not disturb doorbell twists to give keep visitors away!

Imagine this, you’re wrapping up an important business call, hitting your stride on a deadline-based project, or just catching up with some good friends when suddenly the doorbell rings and interrupts the moment. You have three options: one, you can tune the sound out until it goes away, two, you can greet whoever’s at the door at the risk of losing quality time, or, you can install a doorbell that decides for you. The designers at Ontario-based 1Byone Products Inc. recently won 2020 iF Design Award in Discipline: Professional Concept with their ‘Do Not Disturb’ Doorbell, which thankfully provides the third option. While the residential device is not yet on the market, the targeted development time could take up to a year.

The concept is simple: by displaying the green or red button on the DND doorbell’s exterior dial, users can either let visitors know that they’re around and available or encourage them to come back once they’re free to chat. When the doorbell’s button is set on ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode, visitors will feel discouraged from, well, disturbing. Better yet, if the visitor decides to ignore the message, then the doorbell still will not produce any sound despite the visitor pressing on. Of course, when the design is turned to its opposite setting, it works exactly as the common doorbell would.

Along with the waterproof, outdoor dial, the designers with 1Byone Products Inc. designed a wireless transmitter that can be plugged in any three-prong outlet throughout the house. The design is extremely user-friendly, which only enhances the product’s basic functions. The three-prong transmitter’s dual-horn speaker produces a clearer and more concentrated doorbell ring. The dial that adheres to your chosen door is purposefully and visually simplistic, appealing to the product design’s universality. Whichever color the dial’s holes reveal, 1Byone designed the product so that the ‘Do Not Disturb’ message can be seen from all angles and in any light, which only enhances the doorbell’s user-friendliness. So, whether you’re self-quarantining for personal reasons or rushing to meet your deadline, there’s no need to explain, just turn the dial.
