This ultra-compact power adapter floored me with its transparent aesthetics and speeds to charge the iPhone

Quick and efficient charging is a demand created not only by the sprouting gadgetry, but it’s also a prerequisite for all of us living in the fast-paced world. We need our phones charged before boarding the subway and the laptop battery full to the brim ahead of a presentation. Catering to this demand, fast charging tech is evolving by leaps and bounds, bringing charging duration down to mere minutes.

Fast-charging batteries are a mandatory accessory in modern-day gadgetry: phones, laptops and more since they facilitate users with less time waiting for their devices to charge and more time on the go. As companies scrape charging adaptors from the device packaging, there is a tremendous demand for third-party manufacturers to provide powerful and inventive charging devices. Case in point, Nomad’s 30W output charger, which steals the show with its looks to peek through.

At first glance, this Nomad 30W USB-C charger is an outright attraction. You can see through the shell (comprising transparent plastic) and watch the electronics within in action. Perhaps, you may not see anything like the complicated mechanical movement of a timepiece visible through the skeleton dial or a transparent case back, but if you have celebrated Nothing’s naked earbuds, this accessory deserves applause as well.

Yes, the GaN components forming the innards of the compact charger have their own story to tell as you see them in action, but other than that, the Nomad accessory has nothing more intriguing to rank in its sales pitch. For the sake of the gimmicky semblance, it is an exciting device for the eyes, otherwise, it’s an ordinary 30W charger, even though Nomad may just choose to agree. The accessory manufacturer believes that this 30W stylish charger in a transparent black body is a powerful device to own.

Available in a form factor measuring marginally bigger than Apple’s original 5W USB-A charger, the 30W USB-C Power Adapter packs almost six times the punch. The $30 odd charger can effectively charge iPhones faster and generate enough power to juice up a MacBook Air on the go. If you wanted an adaptor for your iPhone 14 that can charge it at a faster speed than the base one, Nomad has got you covered with transparent aesthetics to spice things up!

Here’s the Apple TV remote that Apple should have made a long time ago

In what seems like a rather cruel joke, Apple unveiled the AirTag at the same time as they debuted their new Apple TV remote… while conveniently forgetting to build a tracking chip into the sleek remote. Apple lets you track all your devices on their Find My network – from phones to laptops, to watches and even AirPods… but the TV remote – a device that’s almost certain to get lost, misplaced, or slip into the crevasses of your sofa? Well, you better not lose it because it’s un-trackable.

Almost instantly, companies and creators began building workarounds – remote cases with dedicated slots to put an AirTag of your own. Most of them are made from plastic or silicon, and you can even 3D print your own if you want. Nomad, however, designed a case with a difference. It comes made from Horween leather, looking like something you’d put on an iPhone. Beautiful to look at and smooth to the touch, Nomad’s Leather Cover for the ‘Siri Remote’ looks a lot like something Apple should have designed in the first place… apart from actually putting a UWB tracking chip inside the remote, of course.

Designer: Nomad

Nomad’s Leather Case is a slick-looking number that, aside from giving your Apple TV remote tracking abilities, also makes it a tad thicker so it’s actually more comfortable to hold and operate. The case forms a slim bezel around your remote, and discreetly hides an AirTag in the ‘floor space’ below.

The $39.59 case comes made from Horween Leather, known for being one of the highest-quality leathers globally. The leather outer feels great against the skin (as opposed to the cold metal finish of the existing remote), while a microfiber inner layer actually protects both the remote and the AirTag from getting scratched, scuffed, or damaged. Moreover, the leather actually patinas over time, becoming more and more unique and individualistic… something that should come through pretty well because you’re probably not going to upgrade your Apple TV for at least 3-4 years.

Just pop the AirTag in the case before you put in the remote, and you’re all set. The case has clearances for the IR blaster and for the charging port on the base, and you can use it just as you normally would… except now if you accidentally lose your remote, leave it in another room, or if your dog decides to run off with it, that AirTag on the back comes super handy. You can now track your remote using Apple’s Find My app. Rather handy, no?

This compact water boiler concept features scheduled heating that can be controlled from your smartphone!

Nomad is a battery-operated, compact, and portable water heating concept that includes programmed heating and smartphone controls to make heating water as simple as ever.

Nomad is the lifestyle of 2021. Like a newsletter we actually enjoy receiving, we’re all subscribing to it. With remote work becoming more plausible for everyone, a mobile lifestyle has too. While there are plenty of upsides to the nomad life, there are just as many challenges. Luckily, designers across the globe have come up with their own solutions. Industrial product designer, Hamza Bavčić created a compact water heater, aptly called Nomad, designed for the modern nomad to have access to hot water wherever their travels take them.

Inspired by the natural mobility of migratory birds, Bavčić designed Nomad to be portable, lightweight, and beautifully shaped like a stork. To make Nomad portable, Bavčić designed the water heater to disassemble into separate parts that be stowed away for easy packing and traveling.

Once all of the parts are put back together, Nomad’s heating abilities are activated once the device’s orange tip is submerged in water. Users simply place their desired cup of liquid on Nomad’s electric base underneath the heating nozzle and soon enough, hot water is at their fingertips. When there’s no liquid present, the heating elements are automatically shut off to ensure safe operation during and following use.

When traveling, having access to hot water means there will always be coffee in the morning and tea at night. While the entire product requires AC or batteries, once Nomad is charged, the entire operation can be controlled from your smartphone. Bavčić also equipped Nomad with programmed heating so once your alarm goes off in the morning, Nomad turns on. With Nomad, Bavčić makes sure that we’ll never face a morning without a cup of coffee.

This micro house-on-wheels built to withstand extreme weather conditions was also designed for off-grid living!

The Nomad is a compact mobile camper built to withstand all the elements, hot or cold, and for off-grid living, equipped with everything from a solar system to a composting toilet and water tanks.

These days, the nomad lifestyle has the spotlight. Going off-grid and mobile during this era of WFH has never been more tempting. With sustainability and getting away at the forefront of our minds, companies have delivered on tiny camper designs, merging eco-consciousness with the mobile lifestyle. One company, in particular, Quebec-based Minimaliste has been designing micro houses-on-wheels for some time now, and their latest model, the Nomad, is an even tinier camper built with off-grid capabilities and for the most extreme of weather conditions.

Being the only Minimaliste camper capable of off-grid operation, the Nomad camper includes a composting toilet, two 36-gallon tanks for black and gray water, as well as a 54-gallon freshwater tank allowing two people to enjoy a short vacation without having to empty or fill the tanks. Additionally, Minimaliste equipped the roof with a grid of solar panels that take lithium batteries, outfitting each Nomad camper with a minimum of 5.12 kWh solar power, or an advanced package stocked with 10.24 kWh.

While the Nomad might be shorter in length than Minimaliste’s previous camper models, measuring in at 165 feet2, it makes a home out of the space it still has. The one-bedroom camper also features a kitchen, bathroom, dining area, and living area all within its steel-clad frame. When entering the Nomad, the kitchen and dining area greet you with walnut laminate finishes, and optic white walls, with black coated handles and accents dotted throughout. Equipped with high-quality appliances, the kitchen features a propane boiler and water heater, a Furrion 12V refrigerator, and a Furrion propane stove oven.

Moving into the bedroom and bathroom, the same walnut laminate and optic white paint are seen throughout each room, but the bedroom’s ceiling rises to seven feet to ensure plenty of headroom even for taller guests. The bedroom is all about storage, featuring integrated storage underneath and around the bed, where an additional water tank can be found for off-grid living. Finally, the bathroom hosts all the amenities one might need for when nature calls: an optional flush or composting toilet, a decent-sized vanity unit with a medicine cabinet, and a 24 × 36 tub shower, as well as a 12V fan that exhausts and refilters the air.

Designer: Minimaliste

Integrated storage decks out the Nomad’s bedroom, ensuring enough room even for one of the camper’s water tanks.

Air conditioning units and insulation create a comfortable interior temperature throughout the year and changing seasons.

The kitchen even comes with a built-in 2-in-1 washer-dryer unit.

The dining area transforms into sleeping accommodations for two children or one adult when not in use during the night.

Apple AirTag for your glasses means you never lose that expensive eyewear!

Into the habit of misplacing things every now and then accidentally (because you’re too absent-minded)? And an Apple fan to the core? Then the Cupertino giant just made your day with their latest barrage of announcements made at the Spring Loaded event – of which the AirTag was one of the highlights. The cheapest yet Apple gadget is a stylish way to locate the things that matter the most to you – it could be anything from your car keys, backpack, or luggage. Pitted right against Amazon Tile, AirTag is the one to grab for Apple ecosystem dwellers.

While AirTag can have a countless number of uses, third-party makers like Nomad are seeing it as the perfect platform to intelligently put the Apple accessory to good use. Just like Moment caught our attention with MagSafe compatible accessories for iPhone 12, the AirTag accessories come with the promise of maximum utility in a stylish manner. The one I’ve got my eyes set on is the Glasses Strap which keeps expensive glasses from getting lost unassumingly and then buying a new pair again. When not in use, the strap hangs the eyewear from your neck. In case you lose your glasses (if you have a knack for losing eyewear, this accessory is like gold), tracking them is as easy as one can ask for!

Then there is the classy Horween leather keychain and loop accessory for keeping all the frequently used keys in one place. You are bound to forget at times where you put the keychain/loop, and with the AirTag accessory, you have one less thing to worry about. Both these AirTag accessories by Nomad are up for pre-order right away. If you are already planning to buy AirTag, these adds-on might be just what you need.

A trailer designed for the modern Nomad to meet their futuristic outdoor camping needs!

Modern lifestyle has created a new genre of digital nomads – people who love the outdoors while balancing their work/ tech life. After all, while we crave a digital detox, we can’t really completely cut off from our smartphones. How can the humble trailer designs be adapted to meet their new-age camping needs while maintaining that sacred indoor-outdoor balance? The answer to that is the “NoMad” – a light and resistant vehicle that is presented as a fusion between a traditional tent and a futuristic-looking van designed by the ABIBOO Studio.

Each NoMad creates this balance by designing 3 unique compartments – a wet area that holds the kitchen and bathroom, a living room/guest room/work room, and thirdly a master bedroom that separates from to living room to help you disconnect at the end of the day. The layout of the trailer holds the wet area at the center of the design, automatically creating a barrier/ separation between the living room and the bedroom. Given the space constraints, every bit in the vehicle design holds storage space and hidden seating space. Smart use of terraces means we can leverage the outside space once the trailer is settled in. Overall the design balances four aspects – lightness (hence saving fuel), creating resistance to avoid collisions or overturning of the vehicle, a minimum thickness that provides the best insulation, and finally, an aesthetically packaged home interior and exterior. These mobile homes can be installed in unique outdoor sites. Its size makes it easy to park in the city and in the garage of the main residence, an important condition for those who want to choose when, where, and for how long to stay in one place.

Working from home and telecommuting has showcased the futuristic scenario where commuting is a bare minimum. As journalist Kimberly Mok, author of the book The modern house bus, points out, “The Internet enables a growing number of people to work from home or travel and work full-time, combined with a strong interest in the minimalist lifestyle. It makes us see more people turning their vehicles into homes that they can take wherever they go”. Freedom from location brings to mind new age campsites equipped with great wifi connectivity and other digital requirements – supplemented by bathrooms and a food store, surrounded by a lot of green or endless kilometers on the beach – and meeting likeminded people when they come across your pathway or have a meetup set with your friends. Call me a romantic, but I do think it would make the perfect meet-cute! The future is an evolution of our past when met with today’s challenge to design a future that is uniquely ours, the digital nomads!

Nomad’s iPhone 12 folio cases give you 360° protection and a card-holder without needing MagSafe

Adding a circular array of magnets around your phone just so you can snap a card-holder to the back of it seems like a lot of effort, doesn’t it? Especially when we’ve already had great card-holding cases from third-party companies all along. Nomad’s iPhone 12 folio case gives your phone all-round protection while giving you space to hold not one, but three different cards.

Crafted from exquisite Horween leather draped on a shock-absorbing polycarbonate body (with a TPE bumper around the edge), the Nomad folio case covers both the back as well as the front of your iPhone. The flap on the front auto-wakes your phone when you open it, and comes with 3 card slots and 1 cash slot, turning your smartphone into a wallet too! Besides, the Horween leather grows a wonderful patina with time, showing signs of aging and maturing while your phone stays pristine and new on the inside! Available in all of the iPhone 12’s sizes, from the Mini all the way to the Pro Max… Oh, and it’s Magsafe compatible too, so you can use the Magsafe wireless charger to juice your phone!

This gorgeous leather wallet-case for the iPhone 11 Pro was built with 360° drop protection

As much as Tim Apple says that the iPhone 11 Pro has the toughest glass on any smartphone, it isn’t what I call world-proof yet. Chances are, you’re still going to spring for a $70 case to give your $1200 phone a second layer of protection… and the Nomad Rugged Folio’s honestly left a pretty good first impression on me.

Built with Horween leather on both the front and back, this folio case is relatively meaty, thanks to the thick TPE bumper running around its sides that protects it from 6ft drops, no matter what angle the iPhone falls at. The case comes with a lip around the camera bump too, so you’re never left with a crack or a scratch around your camera lens, while at the same time, the folio case’s compatibility with wireless chargers means you don’t need to take your iPhone out of its cover every time you want to charge it. The front flap comes with a microfiber inner lining to keep your phone’s display scratch-free, while letting you carry up to 6 cards too. The case prolongs the life of your smartphone, keeping it as good as new, while the Horween leather on the other hand develops a unique patina over time, giving your phone its own individual persona!
