Ergonomic Apple Watch band puts the smartwatch on the back of your hand

We wear watches on our wrists because that’s been the standard design of wristwatches, hence the name, for decades or even centuries. It’s a more convenient design compared to the classy yet antiquated pocket watches, but that doesn’t exactly mean they’re the best design available. For some people, that design can actually cause some pain in the wrist whenever you have to lift your hand and turn it so that you can see that time. That action is perhaps even worse with smartwatches, considering how often you have to do that to see not just the time but other information and notifications as well. That’s the kind of design flaw that this odd-looking Apple Watch “band” tries to address by simply moving the smartwatch from the back of your wrist to the back of your hand.

Designer: ErgonBand

The appearance of this Apple Watch accessory looks a little ridiculous, at least until you hear the reasonable explanation behind its design. The band, which is actually more like a strap, looks like one of those thumb or hand braces that athletes use for protection. The Apple Watch, sans the straps, is locked in place using clips that utilize the standard lugs and is placed below the joint of your thumb.

This location isn’t based on a whim but on how it makes the screen almost always visible without having to twist your wrist. At least that will be the case for people who need to see the watch face while holding something or with their hands swinging in front of them, like athletes doing training or people exercising. In fact, this kind of ergonomic design was made exactly for sports uses, though that doesn’t stop it from being used by anyone interested in a different way to wear a smartwatch.

While the theory might does sound plausible, there might be a few practical hurdles to such an ergonomic design. For one, waking up the Apple Watch is often done using that twisting gesture, so you’ll have to resort to actually touching the screen or pressing a button to turn on the screen. That defeats the purpose of not requiring your other hand just to glance at information quickly, which ironically makes it a bit less ergonomic in the process.

The other issue is that this kind of band might get in the way of using your hand for other things, especially ones that could make the strap dirty. Most of us are probably unused to wearing such a strap, so there will be some awkwardness and discomfort at the start. The hand-stitched leather material does try to make it a little bit comfortable and stylish, but that might also raise concerns about using it for intense workouts and sports activities. The ErgonBand is admittedly a curious attempt at solving this ergonomic problem, but it might remain just a curiosity rather than a solution that Apple Watch owners can rely on.

Native Union’s Sleek (Re)Classic Apple Watch Bands Are Made of Plant-Based Leather

If you’re an iPhone user with a taste for leather cases, you might already know all about Native Union’s knack for designing high-quality accessories, like their leather MagSafe iPhone 14 case, made in collaboration with Maison Kitsuné. Now there’s a similar cruelty-free Italian leather-inspired band for your Apple Watch. It’s made of Yatay, a leather-like compound that makes up the construction of Native Union’s gorgeous (Re)Classic Apple Watch Band design, and you can get your own for $59.99.

If you told me the (Re)Classic Band for Apple Watch in its light brown Kraft colorway was made of repurposed mycelium — fungal threads spanning long distances underground, which mushrooms blossom out of — I absolutely would not believe you. And yet, that’s one of the many all-natural resources used in the synthesis of Yatay by Coronet.

It sounds like everything from Native Union’s stainless steel clasp to its comfortable, soft-lined backing is made of recycled materials. (Re)Classic style is finely textured, giving it a sophisticated look that does quite a bit to distract from the fact it… isn’t made of genuine leather. Still, the high level of craftsmanship lent to these intricately-designed plant-based leather wristbands is difficult to deny.

All of Native Union’s straps come with integrated lugs, which connect directly to the Apple Watch — specifically, the little cutouts on the top and bottom of the Apple Watch where a wristband is locked in place. That means they blend naturally with any color configuration, and Native Union really wants to emphasize how important that is, citing the integrated lugs as a central focal point of (Re)Classic design ethos on its official product page:

“We designed (Re)Classic Band to match the textured elegance of (Re)Classic Case for iPhone and AirPods, now for your Apple Watch. Made to be a refined complement to your digital timepiece, we went one step further with fully wrapped integrated lugs so that the straps becomes a seamless extension of your Apple Watch without any visible hardware. A leather-like strap with wrapped lugs is something we’ve been searching for for a while now, so we made it ourselves.”

If you own one of the older Apple Watch Series, don’t worry: these bands come in two sizes that are compatible with every main-line Apple Watch model, depending on the size you wear. Though, you’ll want to specifically order the 38/40/41mm configuration if you’re rocking an Apple Watch SE or SE 2. And likewise, you’ll want to go for the 42/44/45mm measurement if you’re planning to attach one of these fine wristbands to an Apple Watch Ultra or Ultra 4.

This Apple Watch powerbank charges it right on the wrist to face the day once more

In a world dominated by smartwatches, few have captivated the fans quite like the Apple Watch. This ingenious timepiece has won the hearts of millions with its combination of style, functionality, and convenience. Whether you’re heading to a business meeting or embarking on an adventure, the Apple Watch seamlessly complements your attire and lifestyle.

However, like any masterpiece, Apple Watch – in its eighth edition still – has its limitations; chiefly, its battery life. But fear not! A game-changing solution has arrived. The Mark_B_CASE, an innovative Apple Watch powerbank – you can wear direction as the watch case on the wrist – is designed to extend your Apple Watch’s endurance and redefine your wearable experience.

Designer: Mark&Draw Design

With the release of the Apple Watch Series 8, a promise of an “all-day battery” emerged. It was a significant leap forward in addressing the battery life challenges. This latest iteration boasts a commendable 18 hours of usage between charges. Yet, for those who crave even more endurance, the Apple Watch Ultra ups the ante with an impressive 36-hour lifespan on a single charge. Despite the improvement, the reality remains that most users find themselves charging their watches more than once a day.

Since The Apple Watch isn’t just a stylish accessory; it’s a lifeline for long-term tracking, fitness monitoring, and measuring sleep productivity, and its need to collect and retain information perpetually remains imperative. This is where the Mark_B_CASE enters the picture, ensuring that your connectivity remains uninterrupted even during extended periods of activity or slumber.

The Mark_B_CASE is designed to keep your Apple Watch powered and functioning without missing a beat. It comes equipped with a 450mAh battery, extending your Apple Watch’s usability by up to three times its normal duration. This patented Apple Watch Powerbank case is more than just a battery pack; it’s a masterpiece that seamlessly integrates with your Apple Watch as a case.

Crafted with precision, the silicon case not only matches Apple’s design language flawlessly but also offers robust protection against the elements. Its form-fitting structure cradles both the battery pack and the Apple Watch body, ensuring a secure and stylish fit. You can effortlessly attach the Mark_B_CASE when your watch’s battery is on the brink of depletion, and watch your device rejuvenate, ready to face the day once more.

Mark_B_CASE’s wider, more distinctive case design sets it apart from the crowd, but the bulk on the wrist is always going to be a point of contention for many minimalist users.

This Apple Watch sweatband keeps your watch sweat-free so you can make the most of your wearable!

The ActionBand is a new sweatband with a frame for your Apple Watch so you can work out and track your activities while keeping the sweat from loosening your grip!

These days, we’re not chasing rings, we’re closing them. Chances are, even if you don’t have an Apple Watch, you’ve seen your neighborhood’s finest power walkers going that extra mile to close out their Apple Watch’s activity rings. Everybody’s doing it.

While we use our Apple Watches outside of the gym, keeping an eye on our workout’s progress with activity tracking always helps to push our limits. Designing a new wristband made specifically for working out with your Apple Watch, Apple-inspired design group Twelve South created the ActionBand, a sweatband that can hold your Apple Watch.

When working out, our grips make all the difference. So when sweat comes into play, a tight grip around dumbbells, barbells, and kettlebells becomes harder to maintain. No one wants to lose out on activities that might close our rings though, so Twelve South developed a solution.

The ActionBand is essentially a sweatband with a carved-out frame to hold your Apple Watch, allowing you to sweat all day without loosening your grip. Sold in pairs, Twelve South sends each customer one ActionBand with a secure Apple Watch frame and one normal sweatband to wrap around your watch-free wrist. Providing full access to the Apple Watch’s Digital Crown and Side Button, users will have full control over their watches.

Produced from a blend of soft, stretchable lycra, the ActionBand can travel up your wrist, forearm, and bicep to fit anywhere during your workouts. Then, once your rings close out for the day, you can toss ActionBand into the wash to have it ready for your next workout.

Wear your Apple Watch as an armband with this accessory for an improved workout experience!

Apple Watch presents an all-new dimension in health tracking and fitness monitoring. Its health and wellness functionalities are perhaps its unique selling proposition, and the readings are accurate when it’s placed on the wrist. However, fitness bands relocate the Apple Watch from its ideal wrist position, further up in the arm. It looks fancy and all that, but these often compromise the effectiveness of the watch. Coming up with a reworked design of the ActionSleeve, Apple accessory designer Twelve South has released ActionSleeve 2.

The ActionSleeve 2’s unique design ensures the Apple Watch Series 4 (and later) always remains in constant contact with the body, so there is no discrepancy in tracking parameters on the Fitness app. Most of us would prefer wearing the Apple Watch in its default position and deem the band worthless. In fact, that would be the case until you want to put on a pair of boxing gloves! The ActionSleeve 2 armband is meticulously designed to give people more flexibility to keep using the Apple Watch when an activity or sporting gear may restrict wearing it on the wrist or lead to discomfort. “If you’ve ever changed your Apple Watch band, you already know how ActionSleeve 2 works: 1. remove your current Apple Watch band, 2. push the Apple Watch “body” into the back of ActionSleeve 2 and 3. strap ActionSleeve 2 on, tighten and go. Your screen, crown, and button remain fully accessible and functional.” Twelve South explains.

Made from rugged stitched polyurethane fabric and featuring a reliable Velcro enclosure, the Apple Watch armband snaps just like the typical wristband. Simply remove the usual Apple Watch band and slip the device into the ActionSleeve 2, which with its open-face layout, keeps the watch case projected and leaves the digital crown accessible for you to toggle between apps on the go. The Apple Watch armband is available through Twelve South and Amazon and can be picked up right away for $ $39.99!

This Apple Watch band with two onboard cameras means your wrist now shoots photos/videos in 4K!

Love your Apple watch and want to upgrade its functionality to the next level? Meet this cool new camera feature coming along with a strap designed exclusively to house your Apple Watch. Called the Wristcam, the band features two cameras: an 8MP lens on the front and a 2MP camera that faces you when you lift up the wrist to see the watch screen. Interestingly, the Wristcam weighs only 23g but it’s the overly bulky appearance – owing to onboard cameras and battery – that may be slightly putting off for a few. But if you, like us, love the added functionality, there’s a lot that the Wristcam brings to the table!

Apple Watch is unapologetically the finest smartwatch you can own right now – more so if you can extend the budget to the latest iteration. Even if not, don’t fret, any model is equally good to work with the Wristcam. With all the possible goodness – health and fitness tracking and everything – Apple Watch cannot click pictures standalone, it remotely triggers the iPhone to pull off the trick. This is where the Wristcam steps in, giving Apple Watch the ability to click pictures by itself.

The front-mounted 8MP camera can shoot images in 4K resolution while recording videos in Full HD. The selfie camera can be used for video calling – or either camera for live-streaming. The Wristcam comes with its own 8GB of storage and a battery good enough for a day’s fun. According to the company, the Wristcam is water-resistant up to 1-metre, it connects to the Apple Watch over Bluetooth Low Energy, and with the iPhone via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Taking pictures and capturing videos is as easy as pressing the button on the band. For privacy, however, it has an LED light that comes to life when the camera is operational – a single flash indicates picture mode and continuous flashing means the camera is in video mode.

The Wristcam is not an official Apple product, but it has been recognized by the tech giant as “Made for Apple Watch Accessory” putting some weight behind its quality and security. If you’re sold on the idea of shooting photos and videos from your wrist at the next party with friends or on a jog to the park, you can pre-order the Wristcam for $299 now – it will be available in March next year with interchangeable color options including gray, rose, noir, blanc, and sage.
