Baseus Sets Sights Beyond Power Banks: Reveals Upcoming EV Charger at IFA 2023

Known primarily for making some of the most capable charging bricks and power banks for your phone, tablet, and laptop, Baseus plans on being able to go big or go home with its upcoming chargers… literally! At IFA 2023, the company is slated to reveal their latest Nebula Series Green GaN EV Charger alongside other products.

Designer: Baseus

The charger builds on Baseus’ GaN semiconductor innovations that allow for enhanced heat dissipation, maximum efficiency, and power delivery in a compact form factor. Although details on the performance of the Nebula Series Green GaN EV Charger are still surfacing, Baseus touts reduced standby power consumption, all-weather charging (with an IP55 rating), and 11-layer self-check protections.

The charger is accompanied by the Baseus app, which aside from providing charging stats, also allows you to enable remote charging either via Bluetooth (if you’re in the vicinity) or over 5G if you’ve plugged the charger in and want to start a charge cycle remotely. The app will even allow you to schedule charging sessions.

Details of the Nebula Green GaN EV Charger are scarce at the moment, but Baseus plans sharing availability, pricing, and other specs soon.

This power brick replaces every single charger you need, keeping your desk clutter-free and organized

Even now, as I speak, two sets of power strips sit beside me. One, with sockets for plugging my laptop, smart speaker, and LED lights into, and another for USB-powered devices like my wireless charger, and dock for my Apple Watch. I’ve been rather meticulous about how to place these power strips so they don’t clutter my desk, but truth be told, they look nightmarish, with the number of cables going into them and coming out of them. If you’re anything like me, the Baseus team has you covered. The tragedy of having more gadgets is having to also deal with more charging cables for those gadgets. That tragedy is further compounded by the possibility that maybe you don’t have enough power outlets to keep all your gadgets charged at the same time. The Baseus 65W GaN III USB-C Charging Hub takes care of most of those problems, by consolidating all your power cables and bricks into one single device. Designed as a monolithic entity that sits on your desk, the Baseus 65W GaN III USB-C Charging Hub (yes, the name is a handful) lets you plug your laptop, printer, tablet, smartphone, smartwatch, TWS earbuds, and a bunch of other devices into it… simultaneously. Like a power strip on steroids, it manages the power requirements of all your devices while also reducing the number of chargers, adapters, and power bricks you need. This one brick can handle them all.

The Baseus 65W GaN III USB-C Charging Hub, as its name aptly points out, relies on Gallium Nitride or GaN to effectively manage its power distribution. GaN, as opposed to silicon carbide, is incredibly effective at conducting electrons and withstanding high electrical fields. It exceeds the performance capability of silicon in speed, temperature, and power handling, while allowing your power brick or adapter to be ridiculously small, making it perfect for high-performance charging solutions. In short, smaller adapters, lesser clutter, better charging performance. Win, win, win.

The Baseus 65W GaN III USB-C Charging Hub works to organize and streamline all your charging requirements by simply letting you plug all your devices into its power outlets. The hub comes with two AC plug sockets on either side, and two each USB-C and USB-A ports on the front, letting you manage power to 6 devices simultaneously. The hub, Baseus mentions, is capable of outputting 65W, perfect for fast-charging your laptop, tablet, or smartphone, but it’s worth noting that the hub can only output the full 65W when you’ve got only one device plugged in. Nevertheless, it still efficiently allocates power to each of your gadgets in a way that reduces the need for a clunky power strip and large brick-shaped adapters cluttering your workspace.

The most impressive feature, however, is the charging hub’s size. No larger than a deodorant stick (that’s honestly the only comparison I could think of), the Baseus 65W GaN III USB-C Charging Hub measures a paltry 3.82 inches length-wise, and just over an inch and a half in width and depth. As small as it is, the charging hub replaces power bricks thrice its size, keeping your desk free of unnecessary clutter as well as of adapters that get heated up with usage. Baseus’ GaN3 tech provides a much higher fast-charging performance without heating up, and the hub is certified-safe by RoHs, FCC and ETL.

This mini vacuum cleaner cleans while hiding in plain sight!

This mini vacuum was built with style and function equally in mind. At first glance, it could be mistaken for an off-brand hydro-flask or a portable speaker. This ambiguity works as a visual advantage. Car passengers and desk mates will wonder how you keep these spaces so clean (not realizing that your secret weapon may be hiding in plain sight). They might even compliment your new olive-green accessory.
The vacuum’s slender, cylinder design allows for easy storage in your car or desk drawer… and these are the exact areas that the product was designed to clean. It comes with two attachments: a narrow nozzle that can reach debris in tight corners and a slightly wider one rimmed with soft bristles that can suction dust from inside an air vent or in-between your laptop’s keys. Basically, it cleans the spaces that other handhelds can’t reach. Also, the vacuum comes with a removable cap to keep the debris from escaping the canister… so you won’t have to worry about cleaning messes a second time.

The mosquito killing machine that works like a venus flytrap

mosquito_lamp_1

Most mosquito repellent devices rely on airborne fumes to either kill mosquitoes or drive them away, or electric circuitry to zap mosquitoes out of existence… so you’re either left with a room that smells of repellent, or a device with dead mosquitoes gathering in the collection pan. Effective, yes. Elegant? No.

Baseus’s Mosquito Killer does a much better job without zapping or fumigating. Lure the critters in with a UV lamp set at a wavelength that attracts them, and suck the mosquitos in using a powerful 7-blade vortex. The result is an elegant looking device that feels more domestic than industrial, fitting well in most homes… not just because of its home-friendly contemporary design, but also because it’s a whole lot safer (especially around babies) than those poisonous repellents.

Water-inspired case for a water-resistant phone

baseus_water_case_1

The iPhone X is water resistant, but this flowy water-inspired case sure looks irresistible! Made from soft thermo-polyurethane, and designed using watery, flowy forms on the back, the case looks and feels amazing as it protects your phone and gives it a look and texture that’s a class apart… much like Ross Lovegrove’s Ty Nant water bottle design!

The case comes in a variety of tints, all being transparent, making it look like your iPhone X is enveloped by water. The case’s soft nature gives it a good grip, while also prevents it from bumps and dents, and the texture on the back makes for a rather fun, tactile experience!

A small design detail to make the charging cable much better!

baseus_maruko_cable_1

Baseus’s Maruko Video Cable is quite clever. Usually charging cables are an afterthought, but this USB charging and data transfer cable is quite cleverly designed, turning into a stand-of-sorts for your smartphone, propping it up as it charges it. With a plastic casing around the charging port that extends down the length of the cable, it acts as a third point of contact, holding your phone up in landscape mode, allowing you to watch videos or play games while charging. Its circular head design detail is pretty neat too, as it allows for easy gripping and pushing, making working with the cable a tad bit easier. I’m pretty sure no one’s ever thought of this before…!
