This Parisian Brand is Building The World’s First Tech-Adjacent, Modular Women’s Tote Bag

For long, the world has assumed that laptops were meant for laptop bags, and that a woman’s purse wasn’t designed for tablets, cameras, headphones, and other devices that the woman of today may carry. Paris-based Laflore is rewriting that odd unsaid rule with the Doquintin, a modern bag designed for modern lifestyles. Of course, coming from the fashion capital of the world, the Doquintin doesn’t style itself on a laptop bag or duffle. It reinterprets the popular tote bag, uplifting it with new materials, redesigned details, and an overhaul that feels like the perfect blend between classic and cutting-edge. It’s 2023… it’s time women’s pants had pockets, and women’s bags had versatility.

Any Time, Place or Occasion – Doquintin can be worn over the shoulder, crossbody, as a backpack, or carried in the hand.

Referred to as a day-to-night bag, the Doquintin (or Le Doq in short) takes its inspiration from the vintage doctor’s bag as well as the tote. Vintage doctor bags were prized for their utility, sporting a wide-opening mouth as well as carefully compartmentalized interiors that allowed medical professionals to quickly and easily access their tools of trade. Laflore decided to carry those very features and imbue them into the modern tote bag, known for its evergreen appeal to women. The Doquintin is the best of both of those worlds, created to address the fact that there was a substantial void between fashion and function in today’s bags. Le Doq casually combines the chic appeal of a tote with the incredibly utility-focused consumer-centric design of a modular and spacious doctor’s bag… and adds to it new features like modular attachments, and the ability to wear it in a variety of styles.

Everything At Your Fingertips – 11 pockets and compartments that will keep your items organized and easily accessible.

Versatility is at the heart of Doquintin’s design, offering a range of carrying options. Whether you prefer to hold it elegantly in your hand, sling it over your shoulder, wear it crossbody, or even as a backpack, Doquintin adapts effortlessly to your ever-changing needs. What sets Doquintin apart are its thoughtfully designed interior pockets and dividers, meticulously crafted to organize your everyday essentials. With 11 pockets and compartments, it accommodates your phone, a 14″ laptop, makeup, books, sunglasses, chargers, and more. The bag’s brass clasp opens 180 degrees, providing easy access to your belongings, while the bright orange lining ensures you can spot your treasures at a glance.

Add-ons – Camera bag designed specifically to compliment Doquintin.

For those who crave even more versatility, Laflore’s designed a few optional addons, including a camera bag, laptop case, exterior pouch, bamboo handles, and compression cubes, designed to perfectly integrate into the Doquintin. These accessories not only complement Doquintin’s aesthetic but also enhance its functionality in ways that just have previously never been done before with women’s fashion.

Doquintin’s journey begins in the heart of Paris, where the Laflore team sketches and conceptualizes each design. The process involves close collaboration with skilled artisans with over 30 years of experience in crafting high-end handbags. Samples are meticulously tested and scrutinized to ensure every detail meets exacting standards.

Built to represent the cutting-edge of fashion, the bags are made from premium cork skin, three times lighter than leather but equally durable and even water-resistant. The cork is sustainably harvested from trees in Portugal every 7 to 9 years, ensuring the environment remains unharmed and thriving. The Doquintin comes in 3 colors – Emerald, Black, and a Crocodile finish that sports the same kind of leather pattern that gives your tote the haute couture aesthetic. The bags start at a discounted $299, with the add-on accessories available separately. Or alternatively, the entire Doquintin bundle starts at $569 and includes the bag itself, along with a Camera Bag, Laptop Case, Exterior Pouch, Bamboo Handles, and 3 Compression Cubes.

Leather Gas Can Bag: High Octane Fashion

Who hasn’t dreamed of walking down the side of the road and motorists stopping to ask if you need a lift to the gas station and you explaining the gas can you’re carrying is actually a leather bag? Etsy shop krukrustudio is selling these large leather purses that resemble old military-style gas cans. “Well, it’s about time somebody did it,” I thought to myself when I first saw them.

The bags are available in thirteen different dyed leather colors, so there’s sure to be one to match your outfit, especially if that outfit is an oil-stained mechanic’s jumpsuit. Of course, red is probably the best choice as far as realism goes. But how many gallons does it hold? Will gasoline pour out from its zipper or seep out of the leather?

The bags sell for $180, making it significantly cheaper to carry an actual gas can full of gasoline. Sure, this thing might not have the practical carrying capacity of a leather bag, but what better way to show up at a party with five gallons of warm beer?

A $3,400 Leather Rat Bag: For The Rat Catcher Who Has Everything

Because these truly are the end times we’re living in, New York City-based fashion designer Thom Browne has created the Rat Pebbled Bag, a leather bag in the form of a rat. Available from Farfetch for the equally farfetched price of $3,390, the bag begs the question – is this considered haute couture or raute couture?

If the model is any indication, you’ll also need a kilt, dress shirt and tie, lace-up boot-shoes, and an overcoat to complete the rat bag ensemble. I can already close my eyes and imagine myself wearing it all – my friends and family whispering to one another that I’ve finally gone off the deep end.

When reached for comment about the bag, Master Splinter told me he felt it was in poor taste. Granted, he’s been wearing the same tattered kimono for his entire mutant life and lives in the sewers with a bunch of turtle vigilantes, but I trust his judgment.

We Found Nemo… and He’s a Purse

When is a fish not a fish? When it’s a clown! Okay, a clownfish is still a fish, but I just thought that sounded good. For those of you living under a rock or who haven’t visited an aquarium or watched a Pixar movie, clownfish are those colorful little fish that are orange with white stripes. Now you can carry around a clownfish wherever you go, thanks to Krukru Studio, who makes a purse that looks just like Nemo.

The fishy purse measures about 17″ x 9″ and is available in felt, faux leather, or real leather, which I have on good authority are not what an actual clownfish is made of. Those are made entirely of love and pixie dust. Or is it Pixar dust? I digress. The clownfish purse is available on Krukru’s Etsy shop for $89 to $99 depending on the material you choose. That’s a whole lot more than it’ll cost you to buy a real clownfish, but this one is way bigger.

Now, all we need is a giant anemone purse for this purse to hang out inside of all day. Of course, that would likely poison its wearer, but that’s okay – the clownfish is immune to the anemone’s toxins.

This Tauntaun Handbag Doesn’t Smell Bad on the Outside or Inside

When it comes to Star Wars movies, many of us agree that The Empire Strikes Back was still the best of the nine film Skywalker Saga. Among its many contributions to the lore of Star Wars were the tauntauns that Luke and Han rode around in the snow on Hoth. And now, you can tote around your everyday essentials inside of a tauntaun fur bag.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, Loungefly has created a pair of accessories look like they came straight from the ice planet’s surface. First up is the larger item, a sherpa cross-body bag that features diamond stitching, a debossed Empire logo, and an imperial metal plaque on front. In addition to your phone, wallet, and keys, it’s a great place to keep your Luke Skywalker action figure warm.

Don’t need a new purse? Then keep your imperial credits (and credit cards) inside of the matching tauntaun zip-around wallet, which features fur on one side, and a shiny, iridescent faux leather on its backside.

We’ve been assured that no actual tauntauns were harmed in the making of these bags, so before you go all PETA on these guys, stop it. The larger bag sells for $70, while the wallet is just $40. Either or both would make swell gifts for a Star Wars lover on your shopping list. Both are available while supplies last from Loungefly.

Octopus + Purse = Octopurse

With their big brains, eight tentacles, and lots of suckers, octopi are pretty amazing animals. But like most things with more than four legs, they can also look quite weird. If you think it would be cool to hang out with an octopus all the time, check out this crazy looking bag.

Designed and crafted by Russia’s KruKru Studio, the octopus purse has eight bendy tentacles embellished with rivets instead of suckers. You can store your wallet, keys, and other small items inside of its bulbous head. Maybe toss a few crustaceans in there since you never know when your pet cephalopod might get hungry. Otherwise, you could end up in a situation like this:

The weird and wild octopurse sells for $245 over on Etsy. It’s made from real leather, and each one is made to order in red, black, orange, blue, or purple. I think a purple octopus purse would look pretty sweet.

Recycle Bin Bag Reminds You to Empty Your Purse

Ladies, do you have a ton of junk you carry around in your purse? Well, why not just admit it, and buy a bag that suits its contents? This Recycle Bin Bag should do the trick.

Studio Cult makes all kinds of accessories inspired by the skeuomorphic objects found on our computer desktops, so this fits into the line just perfectly.

The inside of the bag features a drawstring section that overflows its top, so it looks full of trash all of the time. It is kind of small though, measuring in at just 7″ x 4″ x 7″, so you’ll need to empty the trash more often than you might on your PC. The bottom is embroidered with the rather self-deprecating message “A garbage bag, for a garbage person.”

The Recycle Bin Bag is available for pre-order from Studio Cult now for $65, and is expected to start shipping by December 1.

These Creepy Purses Have Got Their Eye on You

There are monsters all around us, and they’re hiding in plain sight. It looks like some of them even like hanging out in the women’s accessories department now.

These awesomely creative and creepy clutch purses come from the mind of Breanne of Creature Clutches and The Geekstress. Each one is handmade, and features a single eyeball peering out from beneath its fabric shell. While I dig the big dragon’s eye, the monster ones with the teeth sticking out are my favorites.

We’ve been assured no actual monsters were harmed in the making of these bags. The eyeballs are made from hand-painted glass, while the teeth are made from shells.

You can currently find a few of these clutches over on Breanne’s Etsy shop, with prices ranging from $35 to $75. She also makes some nifty monster dice bags for tabletop RPG fans. Thanks to Technabob friend Mike for the heads up on these amazing creations.

You’re Looking at the Creepiest Purse Ever

Shishido Mazafaka aka @44doooo on Twitter has created something super creepy: a coin purse that looks like a hyper-realistic male mouth. The human anatomy purse as it is called, features the entire mouth and chin area of a grown man. It’s supposed to be used as a coin purse, but I don’t even wanna know what some people would do with this thing.

It has creepily realistic skin, stubble, lips, and teeth. To store your coins inside, you simply open the mouth and put them in. This is truly putting your money where your mouth is. Where his mouth is, anyway.

It looks so real that I’m sure lonely people might want to kiss it, but they would just get a mouth full of coins. The real question is why does this exist? Why did Mazafaka create it? What is wrong with this person?

Well, he likes human flesh, having previously wrapped his iPhone case and charger in a flesh-like material and he also made human flesh-wrapped DJ consoles. Never be alone with this dude, that’s all I’m saying. He’s probably harmless but… you might end up as a prototype for a new project.
