Thinking of buying the Galaxy S24? TORRAS made a stunning 9H hardness Screen Protector to go with it

Almost like clockwork after CES wrapped up, Samsung took the stage to debut all their new products. New Year New Gear, people say… and it seems like Samsung is prepared to equip all Android lovers with their next smartphone – the Galaxy S24 and S24 Ultra. However, with great phones come great responsibilities, and that means ensuring your cutting-edge smartphone is shielded by some cutting-edge cases, covers, and clear screen protectors. It’s a good thing the folks at TORRAS came well prepared too, especially after a pretty exhaustive CES (where they built a 15-foot clear phone stand case as a part of their booth). Lining up perfectly with Samsung’s Unveiled event, TORRAS has announced two new products – the Diamond Shield Screen Protector with a game-changing 9H on the hardness scale and 3-step easy setup, and their iconic O Stand case, which gives your smartphone its dedicated grip-stand for easier, ergonomic, and hands-free use.

Installation of screen protectors has often been a tedious task, but the Diamond Shield changes this narrative. Designed with a 3-step setup process, it ensures a perfect, bubble-free fit in just 15 seconds. This ease of installation is facilitated by the Tora-Airfree molecular glue technology. This adhesive, paired with the protector’s plastic armature, ensures a seamless application while maintaining the sensitivity and responsiveness of the touchscreen – an essential feature for the interactive experience of the Galaxy S24 series, especially for features like fingerprint scanning and S Pen usage.

The cornerstone of the Diamond Shield’s effectiveness lies in its exceptional hardness, rated at 9H on the Mohs scale. This level of hardness is achieved through the innovative Tora-CRC strengthening process. All that technical jargon aside, the Diamond Shield screen protector’s incredibly high hardness rating means it can easily fend off everything from being dropped on gravel or even having to deal with keys and cables scratching against your phone inside your pocket or laptop bag. The 9H rating makes the Diamond Shield 3x stronger than standard tempered glass, giving your premium smartphone the premium protection it deserves. Beyond protection, the Diamond Shield excels in preserving the visual fidelity of the Galaxy S24 series display. It guarantees 100% color accuracy, ensuring that users experience the screen’s original brilliance without any color deviation. This clarity is complemented by the protector’s ability to allow maximum light transmission, maintaining the display’s vividness and sharpness.

While durability and hardness are often the primary focus for a screen protector, the tactile experience hasn’t been overlooked either. The NanoScale pressure structure combined with the Tora-Silk coating technology provides a smooth, sleek oleophobic surface that repels fingerprints and reduces smudges. This technology ensures that the touch experience is as fluid and responsive as the device’s original screen, a crucial aspect for users who interact with their phones constantly throughout the day.

Alongside the Diamond Shield, TORRAS also unveiled the Galaxy S24 Series’ very own O Stand case. Following last year’s Ipsos report that put TORRAS at the forefront of the burgeoning phone stand trend, the O Stand for the Galaxy S24 is a slim yet protective cover for the phone that comes with its own built-in kickstand. The hollow circular ring is designed for comfortable holding and reducing forearm stress, a blessing for those endless scrolling sessions. Functionality wise, the O Stand doubles as a MagSafe stand and supports your phone in both portrait and landscape modes. Whether you’re video calling, watching a movie, or even using the S Pen remote control on your Samsung S24 Ultra, this stand has you covered.

What makes the O Stand special is its versatility. It supports angles from 0 to 120 degrees, ensuring that you always have the best view. And for those who prefer to keep their tech gear sleek and minimal, the O Stand’s design complements the sophisticated look of the Galaxy S24 series, while measuring a mere 2.5mm in thickness so that the stand folds flush into the phone case, leaving you with nothing except a slick, smooth luxurious surface that doesn’t add any bulk or weight to your new smartphone.

The best accessories for your new iPad

Otterbox made a ‘bacteria-killing’ screen protector for your phone

Face it, your phone screen is filthy. Think about all those times you texted from the toilet or scrolled through Instagram while riding the subway -- those streaks on your screen aren't just schmutz, they're breeding grounds for bacteria. But that's...

The screen protector that adds 2 extra buttons to your iPhone

One of the biggest differences between the iOS and the Android/Windows Phone experience is its layout of elements. While the Android experience gives you three core controls at the bottom (back, home, task manager), the iOS experience doesn’t. For an iOS user to go backward, they need to reach all the way to the top left corner of the screen… something no thumb is capable of reaching while you grip the phone from its base. Operating an iPhone therefore with one hand isn’t as easy as an Android or a Windows phone. (here’s an image that maps your thumb’s reach on an iPhone screen)

That’s where Nombiss does a bit of magic with its tempered glass screen protector. Built with invisible circuitry, the Intelli+ screen protector turns the areas to the left and right side of your iPhone home button into touch-sensitive zones, letting you tap places at the top corners of your iPhone screen by simply touching the base of the phone. It’s rather magical to look at, and may require getting the hang of (given it’s such a UX overhaul), but the Intelli+ does promise to put less strain on your thumb, and work your phone without having to access those hard-to-reach corners. It also gives your phone’s screen complete protection letting it sit under a layer of tempered glass (while absolutely keeping its capacitive circuitry invisible). The only disadvantage? It doesn’t work while your phone is in landscape mode.

This Robot Is the Best at Installing iPhone Screen Protectors

Putting screen protectors on your phone is a pain, and let’s face it, humans are not very good at it. You get those air bubbles and dust under them, and sometimes it’s all crooked. Well, as usual, there’s a robot that can do it better.

Kawasaki’s dual-arm manufacturing robot “duAro” does lots of things, including putting on screen protectors perfectly. It can do it all day long, making you feel completely useless. The robot was on display at this week’s Pepper World in Tokyo, showing off one of its many precision skills.

First they take our jobs, and now they are also just showing us up at every turn by doing things so much better than us.

Halo Back iPhone 6/6 Plus Screen Protector Adds Invisible Back Button: Secret Exit

In recent years, Apple has started following trends instead of popularizing them. There’s nothing wrong with that, but what’s wrong is it’s done nothing to fix the weaknesses of the designs they’re adopting. For instance, like Samsung and other smartphone makers Apple hasn’t come up with a good way to make its large phones easier to use with one hand. Who would have thought that a screen protector could help with the problem? Yet that’s what the Halo Back does.

halo_back_iphone_6_plus_back_button_screen_protector_1zoom in

Halo Back’s contribution is small but could still be useful to a lot of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus owners. It has a transparent capacitive touch sensor at its lower left corner, just to the left of where the Home button is. That sensor is connected via a thin layer of circuitry to the upper left corner of the iPhone screen, i.e. where the virtual back button is often found in iOS apps. The result is an easy-to-access (and Android-like) back button.

Like other screen protectors, Halo Back does protect your screen from scratches. It appears to be a bit thicker than other screen protectors, though.

Pledge at least $14 (USD) on Kickstarter to receive a Halo Back screen protector as a reward. It’s not the ultimate fix for large smartphones – and what would be? Eye tracking? Slide-in sidebars? Moving all buttons to the bottom? – but I like it more than Apple’s Reachability.

i(Phone) is for indestructible

Combine Evolutive Labs’ incredible RhinoShield Screen Protector with their latest product, the RhinoShield Crash Guard and your precious iPhone 5/6/6+ will be battle-ready! Exceeding military standard impact protection and absorption, the ultra-slim bumper can withstand the most damage a user could possibly do while simultaneously reflecting the original sleek design of the iPhone… in other words, no bulk! Watch the cringe-worthy tests for both and you’ll be sold!

The key to the bumpers strength is in the “honeycomb” pattern that lines the inside lining of the case. When combined with the new polymer blend, this feature adds another 10-15% to the material’s impact absorption effectiveness.

Rhino Shield Protects Smartphones Way Better than Gorilla Glass Alone

Despite the fact that Gorilla Glass is supposed to be extremely durable, I can speak from experience that it can still shatter quite easily. In fact, the only time I ever dropped my iPhone 4 – about 2 feet – it completely shattered the screen and I had to buy a new phone. As Corning continues to improve their impact resistance with Gorilla Glass 3, a startup has a different sort of screen protection in mind.

rhino shield

The engineers at Cambridge, England’s Evolutive Labs have come up with a screen protector called Rhino Shield, which is expected to offer impressive shatter-resistance properties. By combining multiple protective layers with unique properties, they claim to have developed an incredibly durable screen protector for smartphones.

rhino shield layers

By adding “impact dispersion” and “impact damping” layers to their screen protector, they’re able to add a tremendous amount of protection in front of your gadget’s precious glass screen. Incredibly, all of these layers combine to be just 0.029cm thick, and will not impact screen sensitivity to your touch. The screen protector is easily installed with the included applicator, and can be removed without leaving a sticky residue. That all sounds good, but the proof is in the pudding – and the Rhino Shield doesn’t disappoint in the demo video below:

Wow. That was impressive – especially the part where they drop the steel ball bearing onto the unprotected and protected sheet of Gorilla Glass.

The Rhino Shield is currently raising funds for production over on Kickstarter, where a pledge of £12 (~$19 USD) will get you one for many of the most popular touchscreen phones, including the iPhone 4/4S, iPhone 5, Galaxy SIII, Nexus 4, and HTC One X+. They’re also working on versions for the iPad Mini, Nexus 7, Kindle Fire, iPad and other tablets, with prices ranging from £16 to £20 (~25 to $31 USD). Delivery is expected to begin this April.
