Futuristic-looking garden dome functions as an office space, yoga den, and nap spot to sleep under the stars

A trend that grew ever so popular during the pandemic was “domes’. Sneakily enough, little garden domes started to rise in popularity during the pandemic, since a lot of people felt frustrated working and being cooped up in their homes all day long. Although offices, and the rest of the world, have started to open up now, somehow domes still manage to be a favorite amongst the people. We’re used to garden domes that function as cool home offices, but this garden dome by Hypedome is a home office…but also much more!

Designer: Hypedome

Designed by Hypedome, these garden domes are designed to function as office spaces, calm lounges to relax in, yoga dens, and even additional sleeping quarters if you like to sleep under the stars in the outdoors – without the fear of rain and snow. These geodesic domes were created to make indoor-outdoor living even more accessible, and to provide an indoor-outdoor space that lets you enjoy the beauty of nature without having to deal with its harsh side.

Made from solid polycarbonate panels, the hemispherical garden domes look like glass, but are in fact 200 times more durable and weather-resistant, and UV-protected as well. This provides protection to the furniture and other items placed within the domes. “Our goal was to create durable domes that would not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of gardens but also provide a practical living space that can withstand various weather conditions,” said Hypedome.

The innovative garden domes can be used all year round since you can easily heat them during the winter. And of course, during summer they’ll be a plush little lounge spot to spend your days in, allowing you to soak up the sun, but not too much of it. The garden domes come in three different sizes, with a crystal clear finish as the standard finish. You can also pick mirror, grey, and translucent finish options – they also add a bit of privacy. Hypedome says that the garden domes have a life expectancy of fifteen years, and once they’ve died down, they can be fully recycled, which makes this design worthy of some extra brownie points!

Futuristic Prefab Office Pods Make You Feel Like You’ve Landed On The Moon

Hungary-based architecture and design firm Hello Wood initially started off as a summer camp for students with an inclination towards architecture and design in 2010. Over the years, the firm has grown and evolved, and it began to produce cabins and public installations which slowly developed into a detached prefab workstation in 2020, which perfectly found its footing during the pandemic. “Although there had been a need for more separate meeting rooms before the pandemic,” says Ráday, “there is now a rapidly growing demand for isolated work possibilities.” Dubbed the Pebble, this timber-clad workstation has now grown into something futuristic and pretty cool-looking.

Designer: Hello Wood

Hello Wood’s original Pebble pod was clad in wood and is now being customized by the firm to have a more futuristic look. The pod is being customized for a fiber optic company, to provide them with three auxiliary meeting rooms. The client wanted three of the pods to be placed in his front yard, he wanted people to look at them and feel as if they’ve just landed on Mars! To achieve this sleek and uber-cool look, the firm covered the pod with aluminum composite panels and utilized many of the latest technologies. The resulting rooms can be used as office rooms, meeting rooms, and creative spaces. The goal was to create spaces that look innovative and provide inspiration to the clients as they work through the day.

As you enter the pod, you are welcomed by air-conditioned interiors, amped with high-tech features, such as motorized mounts for monitors, LED lighting, and digital boards. The interiors are defined by a glazed entryway, a skylight, as well as two windows, which give the pod a spacious feel, allowing natural light to stream in throughout the day. The amount of glass utilized inside the pod can be customized depending on the user’s requirement.

The Pebble pods occupy around 86 square feet and are priced at a starting price point of around $47,7000. This includes the cabin and basic furnishing but does not include shipping and installation costs, which can vary depending on the delivery location. Within Europe, the pods can be shipped on a truck bed in one piece.

These AI-generated self-contained living pods under city bridges bring an affordable solution to society problems

Homelessness is an ever-prevailing issue that only seems to be growing as time passes. Architect Shail Patel decided to create and harness a rather innovative and unique solution to address the complex social issue that is space shortage in an increasingly expensive world. He utilized the artificial intelligence design tool Midjourney to create a series of modular pods that are designed to help those in a tough situation find a space for the night or even become a permanent place they can count on.

Designer: Shail Patel

Shail’s plan is to bring to life and utilize urban spaces, particularly the areas under bridges, that are otherwise ignored and have been forgotten. He aims to make use of modular design to build a safe, clean, and respectful living space for the homeless population. He wants to transform these ignored urban spaces into decent and dignified homes for them. The plan is to build pods that function as self-contained living spaces which will provide citizens with a private and comfortable home throughout the year.

The pods will feature heating and cooling systems, ventilation, and natural light. In fact, they will even be built using eco-friendly materials. The pods have been imparted with a modular form to ensure easy construction and assembly. This allows the project to be quickly expanded as and when needed, providing homes to the needy in a swift and efficient manner. As mentioned earlier, the pods are built using sustainable materials, which gives them a lot of longevity, and they’re also supposed to be quite durable. They will be equipped with energy-efficient features such as rainwater harvesting and solar panels. Patel’s careful consideration and design of the bridge pods will definitely ensure that they have a small carbon footprint.

Given that this sector is highly unorganized, we hope that training and teaching is the method used to regulate this environment for the prolonged success of this project.

Since these pods are going to be placed in empty lots under bridges, which may not always be the safest, measures have been taken to ensure the safety of the residents. The sites will be equipped with state-of-the-art security systems. Staff such as social workers and healthcare professionals who can provide counseling, job training, and healthcare for rehabilitation will be assigned to the pod sites. Patel hopes that these pods will be introduced to cities and communities all over the world, providing an ingenious and innovative solution to the current cycle of poverty and space constraints in a rapidly changing world.

Sensory pods helps neuro-divergent people deal with challenging situations

For those who have neuro-divergent conditions like autism, ADHD, dyslexia, etc, the school and work environment can sometimes be a challenge especially if there are situations that can trigger negative reactions. Those who are in therapy probably have some coping techniques but it also helps if the environment itself can be a refuge for moments when they need to calm down or destress. Acoustic pod manufacturer Nook has designed pods that are specifically to address the needs of these neurodiverse individuals and make the space more inclusive.

Designer: Nook

Nook Pods are now given some enhancements to turn them into Sensory Nooks, an encapsulated space that will help neuro-diverse individuals deal with mood changes, challenging behavior, and sudden anxiety attacks that may trigger socially exclusive situations. These additions to the pods will help bring a “psychologically safe space” where they can temporarily escape from in order to calm down or get through a challenging situation they may be experiencing in the workplace, school, or even in public spaces.

Some of the additions in these Sensory Nooks include colour spectrum lighting that can be adjusted to the user’s preference and an LED picture light panel. There’s also a twinkling fiber optic tactile wall carpet that can help reduce anxiety and internal mirrors that can help reduce the strain of eye contact. There are also vibrating seats that can help with those who are suffering from fidgeting episodes. These features can help either calm or stimulate those who have sensory integration disabilities like Autism, Dyslexia, and Dementia.

Of course there are some places and situations that may need something specific and Nook is able to customize their Sensory Pods according to what you need. This is of course something that will help make spaces more inclusive although it probably costs more than your usual pod or working space. But at least it’s a step in the right direction, albeit a more expensive step.

These 3D printed pods are sustainable personal offices that you can subscribe to just like Netflix!

Post the pandemic, all of us have realized the importance of having a dedicated space where we can focus on work without having to explain on our zoom calls what the noise in the background is. Meet the Denizen Architype pod – a smart, functional, personal office that supports your remote work life and also could double up as a creative escape! This prefabricated office is designed with everything you need for the perfect work day and you can set it up anywhere in the world if you have subscribed to it – it’s like Netflix but for a physical office space.

Denizen pods want to help reduce central office costs while adapting to the changes like remote work and flexible lifestyle. The 100 sqft pod is a modern solution with a small footprint that can help retain global talent, maximize productivity and reduce environmental impact that big corporate offices have. “It is ideally suited for high-volume production as a consumer product – more like an automobile or smartphone than a conventional building. Leveraging the latest in 3D printing, robotic fabrication, and technology integration, Denizen can mass-produce high-quality office units that are not only more desirable spaces to work than conventional offices, but also cheaper and faster to build,” says the team in their press release.

The modern tiny office is constructed from premium materials like sustainably harvested timber, 3D printed biopolymers, and durable metal cladding. The tech has been integrated in the pod to make your work from home life as easy as possible. The company hopes to partner with cities to help deploy pods in green spaces to build communities and upgrade neighborhoods so that those who don’t have a backyard big enough for the pod can still subscribe and take advantage of it. This will mean less space for cars, office parks, and parking lots; more space for people, culture, and nature in the city. Remote tech and architecture is a critical tool for eliminating the carbon impact of business flights and traditional office buildings.

“There is a major unmet need in the shift to flexible, remote, and hybrid work, and it’s going to take conventional real estate decades to catch up. Even prior to the pandemic, offices were expensive, distracting, and inconvenient. A better solution was needed. We’ve created a space so inspiring that it will change the way you want to work and live. And by offering it as a subscription service, we make it natural for employers to give their teams a professional, connected, and safe work environment,” says Nick Foley, CEO of Denizen.

The desk seamlessly blends within the large glass arch that has a switchable privacy glass made of two layers with liquid crystals in between – this is expensive so we wonder if it will be a feature available only for the higher end subscription models. It has audiophile-grade speakers and 40 Amp electrical service for the structure. Another question for the team would be the source of electricity since they are pushing for sustainability and reduction of carbon footprint. The Denizen pod is still at a conceptual stage but is an interesting way to decentralize offices as we know it!
