When we use chargers for our devices, we usually just go for the ones that come with said device and don’t really think about other accessories to go with it. That’s because they’re almost always used exclusively for one purpose only: to juice up our smartphone, tablet, and other accessories. But who says you can’t have fun with it right? If you’re into the whole retro is cool again thing, then this new wrap for a charger from elago may be the one for you.

Elago has been bringing their nostalgic accessories a-game as we’ve seen some Nintendo-inspired designs from them this year. The newest one that they’re releasing is a Game Boy cover for your Airpods charger. Basically, the “wrap” will turn your charger into the coolest thing ever, at least for those who can recognize the now-classic Game Boy design. It’s similar to the MagSafe wallet that they recently announced as well.

The wrap is compatible for the Apple 35W Dual USB-C Power Adapter that powers up your Airpods. It basically looks like the Game Boy interface with the face buttons, D-Pad, and other elements that you’re used to seeing in the Nintendo device. Of course these don’t have any function except to be nostalgic aesthetic. It uses soft silicone material and has a larger cutout around the dual USB-C jacks so it can be used with any cable thickness.

It is a pretty cute addition to your charger and aside from looking cool, it is also able to protect it from scratches, bumps, drops, dirt, and oils because of the material. It is available in Light Grey, Black, and Sand Pink and costs only around $15.

It doesn’t store your gear like its predecessor, apart from a flip-top lid that lets you stash your AirPods inside it. These Apple AirTag metal carabiners offer some peace of mind when you lose things

Some might have even been unlucky enough to get their stuff stolen during unguarded moments. These moments always cause stress and feelings of despair, especially if it involves important or expensive items. Thankfully, technology has come to the rescue with trackers and tags that can help you locate those lost items, such as Apple’s simple yet powerful AirTags. In Stainless Steel

Item trackers have been around long before Apple launched its AirTag, but, as usual, the Cupertino-based company added a few twists that made it special. In addition to a new disc shape that contrasted with the predominant square design, Apple utilized a new kind of network that doesn’t rely only on short-range Bluetooth to find items. Unfortunately, the AirTag’s very design didn’t make it ideal for attaching to many things, which gave birth to a market of loops and holders for the tracker.

In Brass

Apple’s official AirTag accessories opted to use leather to give the coin-shaped accessory a classier appearance, but that isn’t the only material you can use to upgrade the tracker’s design. A carabiner, for example, can offer better protection for the tracker and a more secure attachment to any object. It can also be made to look attractive despite its often rugged appearance, as clearly demonstrated by these metal carabiners especially crafted for the Apple AirTag.

Unlike typical metal carabiners, these AirTag carabiners aren’t made from melted metal poured into casting. Instead, each part is precision made from solid metal, carefully crafted by hand to produce a more solid and more durable product. Given those conditions, each item might have slight variations, resulting in something that is like a unique edition per piece.

In Duralumin

The carabiners are made from high-quality materials and are available in three variants. The most interesting is the Duralumin version which uses a widely-used material that might be unfamiliar to many ears. This composite alloy that contains other metals like aluminum, copper, magnesium, and others is often used on aircraft, spaceships, and boats because of its durable and lightweight properties. It also means that this carabiner will easily survive a dip in the water or a flight on a plane.

There’s also a Brass carabiner that develops a more personal relationship with the owner. The untreated surface will develop a unique patina over time, aging gracefully and beautifully. The MacBook Pro Touch Bar gets a second life as this portable, Apple-inspired accessory

The innovative new MacBook Pro models released this year have dropped the infamous Touch Bar in favor of a row of physical function keys. A designer impressed with the idea of the relieved Touch Bar has envisioned the Magic Bar, which is dubbed the first portable Touch Bar. It is conceived with the intention to bring the convenience of a touch-sensitive toolbar to the magic keyboard or even be fastened to the iPhone!

The Touch Bar was introduced on the MacBook Pros back in 2016 and allowed one to use gestures such as swipe, slide and tap to adjust settings, to do quick tasks within apps or even release commands over Siri. The range of options were plenty but the tactile function key appreciators never really valued the idea. Apple stretched on with it for over four years, before giving up its obsessiveness and succumbing to consumer demand. The removal of the Touch Bar from the 2021 MacBook Pro is done therefore to satiate the users who fancy the full-size, physical function keys.

The multi-touch toolbar may be found its way out of the company’s premium laptop lineup, but it still remains a fascination for designers. Extending the Cupertino company’s idea of selling various accessories separate from the primary product, a designer has introduced us to the idea of a Magic Bar, which is nothing but a portable Touch Bar that can be used externally with any Apple (presumably) peripheral. As the renders suggest, this portable toolbar with significantly similar features as the ill-fated Touch Bar, complies with a recognizable design that would align horizontally as the keyboard. And when combined with the new iPhone may be, it could allow smart home shortcuts always in reach.

The Magic Bar features a nice, solid rectangular body made of aluminum to match the peripherals. It is overlaid with the interesting touch-sensitive strip and made to attach with the magic keyboard or iPhone. Notably, the bar can be easily carried in the backpack with your gear and is ideally plug and play, making it convenient to carry and effortless to set up and use.

Wireless chargers come in handy, but their bulkiness makes it feel like lugging around another iPhone altogether. Designer Seo Youngeun collaborated with Designer Dot to conceptualize a wireless iPhone charger called Chau that adds as much bulk to your smartphone as a pop socket.

Chau is a wireless charger that can be either mobile or stationary. Much like wireless chargers already on the market, Chau comes in two parts: a wireless charger and its charging dock. The charging dock can be plugged into any outlet and features two charging stations for Apple products. The raised charging station holds the auxiliary charger in place so users can either leave their phone to charge on the dock or dislodge the auxiliary charger from its magnetic port and charge on the go. Working from home, we don’t have all of the supplemental charging accessories that fill up the office and our appliances with juice. Chau is designed especially for new WFH circumstances, where we move from one room to the next with our iPhones in tow and our chargers left behind. With Chau, our iPhones can always have access to some extra battery juice.

Besides the wireless charging port, Chau features a flat charging surface similar to Apple’s MagSafe Charger that can charge any EDC Apple product from your Apple Watch to your AirPods. Made from silicone and coated in varying shades of matte plastic, Chau has a similar texture to that of other Apple charging products. Having Chau in your home office will help streamline our workdays and keep our iPhones running as long as we are.

Before settling on Chau’s final form, Seo Youngeun went through multiple ideations.

Chau is compact by design so it can fit on any desk or in any workspace.

Chau allows for landscape positioning so you can stream or watch movies while charging. 

Chau’s flat charging surface lets users charge their EDC Apple items like AirPods and Apple Watches. 

Chau’s modular auxiliary charger comes with its own charging ports so users can charge it while away from home. 

Seo Youngeun adapted Apple’s silicone and matte plastic design language for Chau.

Chau’s charging dock can standalone and remain fully charged in place on your desk. 

Coming in an array of different colors, Chau adds some color to your home office.
