This portable shaver with ceramic blades will literally ‘erase’ your stubble to give you the cleanest shave

Rather aptly named for a portable shaver, the Erazor was designed to erase stubble right off your face. Armed with ceramic blades housed inside a compact design that’s no bigger than a shaving brush, the Erazor is a portable grooming device that takes a fraction of the time as opposed to your shaving kit, and doesn’t create a mess either.

The Erazor’s compact design is a breath of fresh air compared to the standard elongated hyper-ergonomic form seen with most regular electric shavers. Its overall form factor might be tiny, but it’s still comfortable to use. Designed to be maneuvered across your face the same way you’d maneuver a shaving brush along your jaw, the Erazor’s ceramic blades finely trim down your stubble, leaving you with a clean shave that doesn’t hurt, pinch, or leave behind razor burns.

While its portable, compact design sounds like its most appreciated feature, the Erazor’s finest bit of innovation is in its use of ceramic blades. Most traditional shavers come with metal blades that are DLC coated for sharpness, however, the coating wears down over time causing the blade to become dull, but more importantly, contact with water or humidity (since most shaving happens in the bathroom) causes even the best blades to begin rusting with time. You want a clean shave, not a close shave with death, am I right?

Erazor’s blades are made from zirconium oxide, an incredibly hard and durable material only second to actual diamonds. Zirconia is most commonly used to make artificial dental caps and even ceramic knives, which seem to really be a testament to their sharpness and durability. Erazor’s Zirconia blades sit under a stainless-steel mesh shield and are powered by a high-torque motor that rotates at 6600RPM (for perspective, that’s about 1.5 times faster than a traditional shaver and twice as fast as a lawnmower) for a quick shave.

The stainless-steel mesh shield measures a mere 0.5mm in thickness too, resulting in a much cleaner shave. The electronics sit within an IPX7 waterproof housing, which means you can use the Erazor while showering, and even rinse the ceramic blades under running water when you’re done. The stainless-steel mesh pops off for cleaning out stubble, and the Erazor even comes with a nifty brush that lets you clean/maintain your portable shaver before or after use.

According to Erazor’s designers, it’s roughly the size of an egg. While an egg isn’t exactly something you’d carry around in your pocket or backpack, it’s a handy little metric to really emphasize how compact and portable the Erazor is. The device easily fits into any travel bag, and weighs just 68 grams (or about as much as 1 and a half eggs).

For easy transport, the Erazor sports a safety-lock feature that prevents it from accidentally turning on while it’s inside your bag pressed against your other belongings… and a 60-day battery means you really need to charge your shaver a handful of times in the entire year. Besides, the Erazor charges via USB-C, which means you can hook it to your smartphone charger or even plug it into a power bank to juice the battery up.

As far as colors go, you’ve got two to choose from – a classic black, or an avant-garde space gray… making it sort of look like either a futuristic pepper shaker or a salt shaker. Each Erazor even comes with a 2-year warranty, retails for $50, and ships in November, which means you should begin using it as early as December once No-Shave November ends!

Manmower: The wacky, innovative stubble shaver inspired by the lawnmower!

manmower_1

The Manmower is one of those absolutely ludicrous products that’s also sheer genius. Conceptually, it’s a lawnmower for your jawline. An internal blade slices away at your facial hair, leaving just a casual, badass stubble behind, just like the lawnmower slices the grass in your lawn to a short, uniform length. The Manmower needs no electricity, no shaving cream, no water, and no prep. Just pull it out of your pocket and roll it across your jawline (you could practically do this in public too) and the Manmower cuts away at your beard, giving you a uniform stubble in no time. You don’t need water, cream, gel, or any sort of extra paraphernalia. Just the Manmower, an unkempt beard, and some free time!

The Manmower is entirely crafted from surgical-grade stainless steel and comes with an outer casing and an internal blade that trap and shear facial hair (you can use it on your head too, for a nice, manual buzz cut). Just like a lawnmower simply works on the grass without touching the soil, the Manmower trims only the hair without touching the skin underneath. The entire product is designed to work without any cream or gel, and can be simply rinsed under running water when done shaving. A simple 5 minute ritual not only trims your beard, it also massages your skin, and gives you a fidget-toy-esque activity to keep your hands occupied. Strap it on your keychain and carry it around with you as EDC, or slip it into your toiletries bag to carry on travels and trips. The Manmower will be the craziest, most unusual self-grooming tool you’ll ever own!

Philips OneBlade Electric Razor Review: For That Not-Too-Close Shave

The folks at Philips reached out and asked me if I wanted to give their slick OneBlade shaver a try. Like most guys, I loathe having to shave and anything that makes it easier and more comfortable, I am all in on. I have a coarse beard and after a weekend spent not shaving I gave the OneBlade a go.

The OneBlade isn’t like your typical electric shaver. It specifically says right on the product webpage that the OneBlade does not shave as close as a traditional blade. This isn’t for the guys out there that like a baby smooth face, and it leaves behind a little bit of stubble, which depending on your style, might be the look you’re going for. The upside is that it doesn’t tear up your skin as much as normal razors can.

It didn’t pinch, cut or pull my whiskers, unlike some other electric shavers I have tried in the past. It cut my beard easily, but since I have coarse hair, and it doesn’t shave as close as a blade my long stubble became short stubble. With a full two days of growth, it cut my beard back to a solid 5 o’clock shadow.

I’m more of a smooth face kind of guy – beards get on my nerves. So I gave the OneBlade to my 16 year-old son who has a solid fear of cutting his nose off while shaving with a normal razor. He loved the OneBlade and on his thinner whiskers. It cut very close, and he wasn’t afraid he would cut himself so he actually shaved down his ’70s style mustache to thinness I’ve never seen him achieve with a normal razor.

I did really like the fact that when you shave with the flat of the blade, by pushing in an upward manner, it trims facial hair too. If you need to trim your sideburns, you can simply turn the OneBlade on its side and touch them up with ease just like the barber does using the serrated trimmer edge.

The OneBlade has a replaceable blade that is meant to last for up to four months. The handle is waterproof, so you can take it in the shower too. It comes with three trimming combs for your sideburns or beard in 1, 3, and 5 mm depths. I didn’t try out the trimming combs because I don’t have a beard to shave with them. Its battery is good for 45 minutes of use per charge, so you’ll never run out of juice in the middle of a shave.

I like that the OneBlade is quite inexpensive at just $34.99(USD). The last electric shaver I bought set me back a few hundred bucks. The replaceable blades are $14.99 each and with them being good for four months, I think that’s a bargain. If you don’t like a baby smooth shave, the OneBlade is a inexpensive and very good tool for keeping your facial hair in check.

Introducing, the Shaving Stick

cylndr_01

The CYLNDR combines the ease of a straight razor with the convenience and safety of an electric rotary shaver. Without the risk of cutting and without any lather, you can get a super-close shave using the same simple motion you would with a straight razor. Unlike other rotary shavers which feature a vertical handle and horizontal blade, the cylindrical form of CYLNDR provides more power while also being more ergonomic and compact. Additionally, its two-direction rotary system makes it possible to maintain a steady hand position for an even and consistent cut.

A Smarter Shave

halo_01

Halo is a smart electric shaver/trimmer combo that learns your unique mug! Rather than rough up your face by going over areas up and down, over and over, Halo adjusts to the contours of your face to ensure you get the perfect shave each time.

The design is equipped with gyroscopic positioning sensors on the head of the shaver and each corner that memorize every inch of your face. After the edges and contours are recorded, the shaver adapts for the best shave. After just a few times, Halo practically knows your face just as well as your barber would! It adjusts its head rotation and blade force accordingly so you don’t have to struggle and grind your face time after time in front of the mirror just to get a good clean shave.

Of course, grooming isn’t just about a clean shave. Halo also doubles as a trimmer. A very precise one at that. To trim instead of a clean shave, simply scroll the wheel to the length you want and the head adjusts itself automatically.

Better yet, it features a fingerprint scanner so no sneaky roommates or guests can give it a go!

A Tribute to the True Shave Masters

As men age, they almost always switch to electric razors as a safety precaution. However, the electric razor options are limited to the same ones a younger person would use despite major differences in skin. The Philips Master Shave is the result of thoughtful study and interviews with elderly men who expressed frustration with modern razors’ inability to tackle loose or wrinkled skin as well as difficulty cleaning. The result is one that gives independence back to the individual. More after the jump —>

The design gives independence back to the individual by utilizing customized ergonomics and a shaving head system adapted for their unique skin.

The shields in the front and back of the shaver retract when the slide in the back is depressed with the thumb. When placed under running water, whiskers are simply flushed out. This eliminates the need to remove the entire shaving head or release it using small tabs.

In current Philips models, each of the three rotary heads have a separate foil, leading to inconsistent pressure over the surface area of the shaving head. A unified shaving foil offers a solution to the problems encountered when the elderly shave over loose and wrinkled skin. A thin filament remains between foil sections to allow for flexing when needed.

Shaving Intuitively

The Natural Touch Shaver takes inspiration from the natural hand gesture made when cleansing one’s face with water. The design is ergonomically adapted to fit in the palm of the hand and is secured with placement in between the fingers. In the same intuitive motion used to wash the face, users can get a clean, even shave thanks to flexible rotors that contour to the natural curves of the face and neck.
