Kohler Unveils A Faucet So Eye-catching, You Won’t Stop Washing Your Hands

Imagine a faucet that’s not just functional, but a sculptural centerpiece in your bathroom. The Kohler x SR-A Formation 01 aims to do just that. This limited-edition faucet is a collaboration between Kohler, a renowned name in kitchen and bath design, and Dr. Samuel Ross, an innovator known for pushing the boundaries of material science. The form combines the appeal of avant-garde architecture and automotive design, with an edgy single-piece aesthetic that zigzags to defy expectation and the boring archetype of organic forms seen in bathroom design.

Designers: Kohler & SR-A

The Formation 01 stands out with its ultra-modern design. Crafted from Neolast, a groundbreaking material developed by Kohler, the faucet boasts clean lines and a unique, almost organic form. This innovative material allows for a wider range of shapes and colors compared to traditional faucet materials, making the Formation 01 a true conversation starter. The faucet is complemented by an escutcheon plate made from Kohler’s signature cast iron, providing a touch of timeless elegance that grounds the futuristic design.

The faucet’s design allows for precise water delivery even through its sharp angles, thanks to meticulous pressure control. The rocker-style handle adds to the faucet’s modern aesthetic while offering a smooth and intuitive user experience. The faucet comes in a striking “Haptic Orange” hue, a nod to Dr. Ross’s signature color. This unique splash of orange creates a visually captivating element in your bathroom, making a bold statement without appearing ostentatious.

The Kohler x SR-A Formation 01 offers a glimpse into the future of bathroom design (a future that’s different from the one with e-ink toilets as seen at Kohler’s booth this year at CES 2024.) It seamlessly blends innovative materials with cutting-edge engineering to create a product that’s both beautiful and functional. With its limited-edition status and bold design, the Formation 01 is a perfect choice for those who want a bathroom that reflects their unique style and appreciation for truly modern design.

Enjoy sheets of water through your fingers in sculpture-like faucet from Kohler

There are some things that you use every day that serve a certain function and you don’t really care about what it looks like or how it’s made, as long as it does what it’s supposed to do. One of these things is the water faucet which you most likely use more than once a day (unless you’re stuck in bed and can’t get up). What if this simple piece of your life “exists beyond conventional expectations” and still does its job?

Designer: Samuel Ross for Kohler

The Formation 01 Faucet is a creation from Samuel Ross’ design studio SR_A for luxury bathroom and kitchen manufacturer Kohler. It doesn’t really look like your ordinary or even high end faucets look like. Rather, it was designed as a functional piece of sculpture that is still able to give you the water that you need when you want to use a faucet. The way it was designed is to give you a continuous sheet of water, whether you’re using it for cleaning or cooling down.

The faucet is made from an advanced composite material called Neolast, which is the proprietary material from Kohler. They were able to form it into that kind of shape since the material is able to offer “boundless form, unexpected texture, and rich, saturated colors”. It sports the color orange since it is the designer’s signature shade. Underneath the fauce is an embossed cast iron escutcheon plate to celebrate the collaboration between the brand and the designer.

The Formation 01 Faucet does look extraordinary and innovative, from the color to the seemingly-abstract shape. But what I really enjoy, at least from the product renders, is how the water comes out in a sheet, which looks and hopefully feels pretty cool (maybe literally even).

This inclusive and innovative sliding faucet makes dishwashing an accessible chore for everyone

Dishwashing has long been an important aspect of Indian culture, with traditional methods incorporating the use of natural materials such as ash, clay, or neem leaves. However, as time passed, the advent of soap and detergents resulted in the development of new dishwashing procedures. While manual labor is still the most common technique of dishwashing in many Indian houses, the rise of contemporary machines such as dishwashers has revolutionized the dishwashing scene, particularly in metropolitan areas. The Grifo-A Sliding Faucet is a revolutionary solution that strives to address the issues connected with traditional dishwashing procedures while also improving the overall experience.

To facilitate an easier dishwashing process, it became necessary to analyze each step and identify areas for improvement. Several challenges emerged, including unappealing product designs that fail to excite users, the need for a new washing process, the desire to redefine the function of the sink, water wastage, the lack of a height-adjustable sink, lengthy and repetitive processes, the absence of a proper system for disposing of leftover food, and issues related to the placement of the faucet causing back pain and water splashes.

Based on the identified problems, the Grifo-A Sliding Faucet was developed with a focus on three key areas: water wastage, water splashes, and back pain. The design aimed to save water, make the dishwashing process interactive, and reduce the mess created by water splashes.

Through the development and implementation of the Grifo-A Sliding Faucet, several significant benefits were observed. A lot of conventional designs overlook the issues faced by left-handed people, as a majority of the population is right-handed, this faucet’s design allows both left-handed and right-handed users to efficiently wash dishes without any obstructions. Additionally, the detachable feature addresses the issue of users of varying heights, ensuring optimal comfort. Moreover, the elimination of the need to lean forward reduces the risk of back pain, enhancing user convenience. It is important to note that the current design solution primarily focuses on the interaction design aspect, with further considerations needed regarding form, ergonomics, and texture. Finally, the introduction of a touch sensor with an illuminated fingerprint symbol allows users to control the flow of water, minimizing mess and keeping clothes clean.

While the Grifo-A Sliding Faucet offers innovative solutions, a few limitations and considerations should be acknowledged. Handling the faucet when hands are wet or soapy may pose some difficulties, requiring further exploration for improved usability. Additionally, the design of the faucet may require sufficient space in front of the kitchen sink, which may pose challenges in smaller kitchens or constrained layouts. Finally, the design may need to be adaptable to various interior themes to ensure its compatibility with diverse user preferences.

The Grifo-A Sliding Faucet represents a significant advancement in the field of dishwashing, particularly in the Indian context. By addressing the problems associated with traditional dishwashing practices, such as water wastage, back pain, and water splashes, this innovative design offers a more efficient and interactive experience. While there are limitations and considerations to be addressed, the Grifo-A Sliding Faucet paves the way for enhanced dishwashing practices in India, combining functionality, convenience, and water conservation. As technology continues to shape our daily lives, it is essential to embrace solutions that streamline household chores and improve the overall quality of life.

The fanciest tap I’ve ever seen is built from bamboo & is super sustainable…

One of my favorite times of the day is bathtime! As we’ve grown older and life has gotten super hectic, bathtime is that precious hour of the day when we can fully indulge in self-care, and pamper ourselves – whether that’s in the form of a bubble bath or a long warm shower, having a beautifully designed bathroom with thoughtful designs will only amplify this special time of the day. The right selection of bathroom fixtures and products makes a huge difference to your everyday bathroom experience. And one such design that would make an excellent addition to your bathroom is the Jacqueline tap by Gessi.

Designer: Gessi

Now let me tell you why the Jacqueline tap by Italian bathroom and kitchen brand Gessi caught my eye – because it’s made from bamboo! As a part of its Gessi Spa Collection, the Jacqueline tap is made from segments of bamboo. The tap is created with immense precision and attention to detail, quite similar to the care and concern given in the manufacturing of high-end fashion accessories, which Gessi attempted to capture in the form of a faucet.

“[Jacqueline] allows a natural material to be brought to a functional use and not just an aesthetic one,” said Gessi. Bamboo roots were hand-selected by Gessi and then curved into shape using hot bending techniques. After that, it is treated to become waterproof, and then the functional plumbing elements are integrated into the hollow bamboo tube.

The spout is available in an option of ten metallic and colored finishes – such as nickel, brass, copper, bronze, and black. It also comes in a range of mounting formats. The other taps in the collection draw inspiration from the shapes of handbag fastenings and are available in metal with a leather effect or imitation horn details. But the Jacqueline tap definitely stands out to me, because of its choice of material. Bamboo is a sustainable, flexible, weather-resistant, and strong material that is a boon to the planet. It is a great alternative to the marble or concrete faucets we usually install in our bathrooms, and not to mention that Gessi left no stone unturned, to ensure that Jacqueline is also super beautiful.

The Hera Faucet’s paper-like thin design is the literal definition of ‘sleek’!

A perfect faucet for a minimal bathroom, the Hera series of faucets aren’t just visually intriguing, their sleek design aids usability too. Relying on a shape that sort of follows the direction of water, the Hera Faucet’s slim design feels intuitive and interesting together. The form comes with a slight thickness around the center, almost emphasizing that the water is pushing through the flattened metal surface to make its way out of the faucet. The flat faucet shape comes with an equally flat handle that’s easy to hold and turn, even with the soapiest of hands. Its flat, non-cylindrical L shape is intuitive at first glance. You know you need to pull it towards you, rather than sideways, upwards, or in any other direction. Designed for ergonomics, the flat handle can be operated easily with both wet and dry hands, and can also be maneuvered just as easily by people with disabilities. The Hera comes in regular as well as mixer varieties that allow you to combine both hot and cold water. The frosted black finish lends an undeniably classy touch to the faucet’s design, accentuated further by the golden details running along the side edges.

The Hera Faucet Series is a winner of the iF Design Award for the year 2020.

This part-faucet, part-fountain makes life easier for brushing and more

In Pinterest’s endless list of quirky designer faucets I’m still waiting to see a faucet that’s as practically wonderful as the Da Vinci. Part faucet, part fountain, the Da Vinci is one of those “why hasn’t anyone ever thought of it before” projects that happens to be innovative and sensible in 2019. Styled like a regular faucet with two mixers on each side, the Da Vinci has an innocuous lever sitting right near the outlet. Pull the lever forward and the faucet turns into a fountain, giving you an upward stream of water that you can either drink or gargle with while brushing.

Designed to save you the trouble of cupping your hands every time you want to drink water from the faucet (and inevitably dropping/wasting most of the water in the process), the Da Vinci just simply reroutes the water to an upward-facing outlet so you can just bend down and drink directly from the faucet. Whether you want to rinse while brushing, drink water, or just wash your face, the Da Vinci has a much more practical solution to a problem that has somehow existed for centuries without being solved. The upward-facing fountain outlet is as easy as pushing down on a lever, making it perfect for elders and kids… and it actually ends up saving 88% of the water in the process by regulating the water’s pressure.

As functional as they may be, the Da Vinci faucets have the aesthetics absolutely nailed too. They come with a pretty eye-catching organic design that’s ergonomic, comes in a variety of premium finishes, and adds a touch of class to your bathroom. Each faucet is made from 100% lead-free brass and even comes with a lifetime warranty.

A combination of practical and playful, Da Vinci’s faucets tick pretty much all the boxes. They’re great-looking, much more accessible, and solve a pretty big problem that’s gone unnoticed for centuries while ultimately saving water in the process too… And what do you know, they’re so much fun to use that your kid might actually end up brushing twice a day!

Da Vinci Fountain Faucet: The Future of Faucets

Part faucet, part fountain, this Italian inspired bathroom faucet makes life easier, minimizes germs, and saves water.

The Da Vinci utilizes a dual method of water delivery. For starters, you’ll still be able to get water from the downspout as you would with a traditional faucet. But with a flip of a switch, the flow can be redirected through a spout at the top of the faucet, bringing you a magnificent arc of clean water whenever you want.

Easily rinse after brushing with water.

Easily rinse shaving cream.

Rinse facial cleanser without splashing.

Take pills or vitamins without painful bending.

Save Up to 88% Water

If by chance you forget to turn off the water during your 2 minutes of brushing your teeth, Da Vinci saves you up to 88% water compared to normal faucets.

Did you know that the average American uses up to 4.4 gallons of water each time they brush when they leave the water running, and they brush at least twice a day. If all 329 million Americans did that they would use more than a billion gallons of water just brushing alone.

A Personal Waterfall To Clean Your Hands

flat_tap_layout

Doing away with faucets that are home to a million microbes in public restrooms, the Flat Tap is a wall panel fitted with inbuilt infrared sensors that activate a waterfall-esque stream to clean your hands. Designed to be a communal sink and allows more users to use the sink at the same time in a crowded restroom, instead of depending on the limited faucets. The entire wall panel is fitted with small outlets that stream out water, wherever you stand. The basin is also designed with a slope so that water drains out quickly.

The Most Powerful Nanobubble Faucet Aerator!

Using a faucet is part of our daily routines, they are used all around our homes, from cleaning our hands in the bathroom, through to fresh vegetables in the kitchen. But their cleaning power can be enhanced with a single, almost unnoticeable upgrade… MiniBle S.

MiniBle S can be installed on the average faucet and, through the flow of the water, creates an abundance of nanobubbles that greatly increase the thoroughness of the clean. Nanobubbles aren’t to be underestimated; they may be small, 500 times smaller than a human pore to be precise, but they pack a serious punch. Each Nanobubble bursts to create an almost-incomprehensible temperature of 5500°C and a high pressure that lasts no longer than 3 milliseconds… needless to say that this makes it effective at killing bacteria!

Tested to be 2-3 times more effective than ordinary water, cut water usage by 30% and introduce stress-relieving negative ions to the water for a relaxing shower, all without the consumption of any additional energy…it sounds to us like a great addition to the average faucet!
