Smart tea bottle lets you brew your calming beverage anywhere you go

Coffee is often touted as the fuel that runs the world, but not everyone is a lover of the brown liquid. For others, tea is what gets them going, whether perking them up for the work ahead or putting them in a more relaxed state. But just like coffee, good tea isn’t something you can just make any time, even though it’s technically a bit easier to steep and infuse tea leaves compared to coffee beans that still have to be ground. Keeping the freshly brewed tea still fresh when and where you actually want to drink it can also be a bit of a problem, especially if you spend a lot of time outside. This portable smart bottle solves all of that by letting you brew your favorite tea anywhere you need it and keeping it warm so you can enjoy it all day, wherever you go.

Designer: Bota

To be fair, you can actually brew tea anywhere as long as you have all the necessary pieces, which include the tea leaves, a way to boil water, and a brewing chamber to steep the leaves in the water. The problem is that you need to bring that many pieces with you, which is almost the same as saying you can’t. That’s where Bota comes in, an all-in-one smart tea bottle that lets you do all of those, keep your brewed tea hot, and let you enjoy your favorite flavors as you go about your day or even night.

Bota includes everything you need in a single bottle. It holds and then boils water at the specific temperature you need for brewing. It has a steeping chamber to hold the tea leaves separately from the rest of the bottle, allowing for hassle-free cleaning afterward. And it can keep that tea hot for about 12 hours, presuming you don’t finish that delight cup before then. Drink a hot cup of tea any time or brew a fresh batch when you get the chance. All you need are the tea leaves and water.

Despite all those features mashed together, Bota manages to come in a sleek and portable form, making it easy to throw the bottle in your bag when you’re in a rush (after you’ve securely closed the lid, of course). There are no complicated buttons either, just a single touch screen and button to set the temperature and start the boil. It’s a stress-free experience for making a drink that’s associated with calmness and relaxation.

There’s also an indirect sustainability angle to this portable device that also gives you a good feeling while you take a sip. You produce less waste by doing away with single-use cups and using tea leaves directly, so you can make as much tea as you want without adding to the planet’s trash problem. This way, you can relax and enjoy your favorite drink knowing that you’re healthy lifestyle doesn’t come at the cost of the Earth’s health.

This Tea Machine Makes The Classic Indian Chai Easier To Prepare

Chai, a beloved staple in Indian households, holds a special place in the hearts of many. It’s more than just a beverage; it’s a symbol of hospitality, warmth, and tradition. A group of three Indian friends living in London, who happened to be accounting and finance experts, recognized the significance of chai in their lives and sought to create a product that would make the preparation of this beloved drink easier and more convenient for working professionals. The result is the Dostea Tea Machine, a groundbreaking innovation that combines technology with tradition to deliver an authentic and hassle-free chai experience. Why not have tea machines just like those for coffee?

Designers: Arun KumarMVyasateja RaoAnil Ramesh (Analogy Design)

Crafting a traditional chai can be a laborious endeavor, often involving the use of various utensils and resulting in a messy process. The Dostea Tea Machine, designed with the UK market in mind, aims to address these challenges. With a simple press of a button, it provides a fresh, home-brewed cup of chai, eliminating the usual hassle and mess associated with the traditional method.

This smart tea pot can read your mood to make the perfect brew

Many people swear by coffee to get through the day, but there is also quite a good number that prefer the variety of teas to get their fix. Just like with different coffee beans, different tea leaves have different personalities; that is, they have different brewing requirements like time and temperature. Further complicating things is the fact that tea can give you different experiences depending on when you drink them or your mood at that time. Considering these different factors can make brewing tea sound almost impossible for mere mortals. Thankfully, that conundrum is a thing of the past with this connected tea pot that looks just as good as the brews it makes.

The art of brewing tea goes back centuries, but just like coffee, it has been commercialized and diluted down into cheap teabags. Even without considering the rituals involved, brewing tea is almost like a precise art that varies depending on the type of tea leaves being used. Some require a longer steeping time at lower temperatures, while others are best at a high temperature and for a brief period only. That’s not much of a problem if you stick to one kind, but tea lovers who crave and enjoy variety will have to keep in mind those different requirements.

Fortunately, we can now rely on technology to take the drudgery out of a process that should be calming and relaxing. Rather than memorize the different conditions for different leaves, the Teplo connected tea pot memorizes those for you. A simple tap on the smartphone app will set the precise time and temperature for the tea leaves you place inside the infuser. This insightful tea brewer, however, can do more than that and can even adjust those brewing factors to match your mood, the time of day, or the surrounding conditions.

You might, for example, prefer a stronger dose of caffeine in the morning, or maybe you want a bit of sweetness when you’re almost out of energy in the afternoon. Changing the temperature can result in these different teas, even using the exact same tea leaves. This seemingly magical feat is actually the result of advanced technology, combining data from different sensors to paint a holistic picture of your mood. In addition to detecting room temperature, humidity, brightness, and noise, a fingerprint sensor on the base can also read your heart rate and body temperature, allowing the tea pot to adjust the temperature and time to create a personalized brew each and every time.

This innovative tea pot isn’t just smart, it’s also a handsome appliance that’s perfect for your kitchen countertop or table. Inspired by the last “golden drop” of tea, the pot’s unique and beautiful infuser automatically rotates to submerge the tea leaves for the optimal brewing time and then rotates again to prevent over-steeping. Whether you’re waiting for your caffeine fix for the day, winding down after a long day at work, or simply looking to relax and chill, this intelligent tea maker will serve you the perfect cup of tea to fit your mood.

This DADO minimalist tea machine may give you peace and calm in a cup

I recently bought a coffee capsule machine and it’s been a pretty neat addition to my home coffee shop set up. I wouldn’t mind having a tea version of this since there are times when I’m too lazy to brew my own tea and tea bags have no appeal for me. I still am a coffee girl at heart but I’ve been adding aa cup of tea (or two) to my daily routine so a tea capsule machine will be pretty handy to have.

Designer: Hyeongkwon Lee

This minimalist-looking capsule tea machine is a concept design that can maybe someday fulfill my wish. It’s named DADO which is a term in East Asia that refers to making and drinking tea formally. The device doesn’t look like what you would use in a typical tea ceremony but the designer created something inspired by it but with a modern twist. The kettle part is inspired by what is used in traditional tea making and the minimalist design aims to bring a sense of calm and peace, things usually associated with drinking this caffeinated beverage.

If you’ve used a coffee capsule machine then this follows pretty much the same procedure. There is a kettle and two cups placed on top of a “heating pad” that looks like an induction stovetop or a wireless charger. You need to fill the kettle with water in the bucket part located at the back. Then you have to preheat the cup or cups that are beside the kettle and all you have to do is press a button. In the traditional DADO, cups are pre-heated as well as part of the ceremony so that’s a pretty nice touch to add to this modern concept.

After both the water and the cups are hot enough, it’s time to place the tea capsule at the top of the kettle and press the extraction button. Once the three LED lights are blinking simultaneously, this means that the magic is happening and once it’s done, you can start drinking your tea and experience the peace and calm that you’re looking for in a cup. There are probably different flavors for the tea capsules, just like with the coffee ones.

One thing that might give people pause about actually getting something like this is the carbon footprint that these disposable capsules bring. The coffee capsule machine I got had re-usable pods so that lessens the contribution to trash. Hopefully, this is something that the designer will consider if the DADO ever gets made into an actual capsule tea machine.

This adorable little tea-infuser looks exactly like the Piranha Plant from Super Mario!

When you’re not using it to brew tea, you could turn it into a prop for your Lego Mario set.

OTOTO‘s Tea Trap puts a fun spin on the art of brewing tea. Unlike those boring metal infusers, the Tea Trap models itself on a carnivorous plant that chomps down on your tea leaves. Once the Tea Trap’s stomach (or mouth) is full, just dunk it in a cup of hot water, and the tea begins infusing through the perforations on the sides of the infuser. Use the Tea Trap’s elongated handle to stir it around till your tea reaches the right color, and when you’re done, the Tea Trap will very kindly spit out the tea-leaves into the waste-bin, because nobody likes eating tea leaves… not even carnivorous plants!

Designer: OTOTO

The Tea Trap is made from stainless steel along with BPA-free silicone. It’s 100% food-safe and dishwasher-safe too.

First You Flip, Then You Sip!

Shateso’s Tea-Flip Brewer, although rather playful in its demeanor, has its roots in traditional Oriental tea brewing. The tea was brewed in a slender, long cup, and the brew was then transferred to a shorter, stouter cup by simply placing the overturned short cup above the tall cup, and flipping. The idea was to drink Oolong tea from the wide-mouthed cup, but have the lingering aroma emanate from the taller, slender vessel.

Tea-Flip uses a playful-yet-culturally-relevant flipping action to brew tea. In an effort to make loose-leaf tea brewing quite as easy as tea-bag brewing, the Tea-Flip vessel replaces the silken tea-bag, and acts as an infusion/brewing chamber. Armed with two mugs, the Tea-Flip lets you A. rinse your tea-leaves before brewing them (using the opaque, bamboo fiber mug), and sip your brew from a separate, transparent glass mug. All along, the tea-brewing chamber holds the leaves in it (after you empty the brew), giving you a nice wafting aroma of the tea, and making a significant olfactory upgrade to your brew.

Tea-bags are the fast-food equivalent of the art of tea-brewing. The leaves you find within the virtually opaque tea-bags are usually the refuse, the waste tea leaves that don’t find themselves passing the qualitative standards to be sold in loose-leaf boxes. Giving you the advantage of convenience, these tea-bags don’t taste anywhere close to what good tea should taste like, and the Tea-Flip wants to change that by extending that convenience to loose-leaf brewing.

Brewing tea in the Tea-Flip is almost as easy as dunking a tea-bag into water, and probably more fun too. The Tea-Flip comes with a brewing chamber (with a sieve-top) and two mugs. Put the leaves into the chamber and pour some cold water in and give it a slight stir. This opens up the leaves for proper brewing, as well as cleans out any impurities or dust. Place the opaque mug on top of the brewing container and flip it over, emptying the water out. Discard this water, and pour fresh hot water into the brewing chamber, this time allowing the hot water to get infused with the tea flavor. This time, use the second, transparent cup to transfer the brew, using the signature flip. Sip tea from the cup, while the brewing chamber instills the air with the aroma of your tea, elevating your tea experience, while keeping the process true to its heritage and culture!

T_Flip is a new kind of teaware that helps anybody to make and explore loose leaf tea in a simple and playful way. Inspired by the concept of the tea ceremony, T_Flip makes brewing a performance, literally “ flip it” around to make a delicious tea.

tflip_portable_tea_ceremony_01

T_Flip’s design creates a minimal neutral look to take away the stigma of “another culture”, being afraid of doing it wrong or “ it’s complicated to brew loose tea”. These are big factors that make people chose the “fast food” version of tea, tea bags.

tflip_portable_tea_ceremony_04

Waking/Rinsing the tea is a central role in tea making, by cleaning the leaves of dust and small particles. This allows the leaves to unfold and open up the pores for the perfect flavor. Integrating this step in the design with the “Rinse” cup educates you on how to make the best use of your leaves. No other western tea ware design in the world has this unique feature.

tflip_portable_tea_ceremony_02

The formal language and style originated from Camille Blin, head of Industrial design at ECAL and Anthony Guex. During further design process Jean-Philippe Bonzon, a former ECAL Student that works and lives in Shanghai adapted and refined certain design parts of the object. For the final stage of testing and prototyping, Mexican Industrial designer Luis Martinez was contributing knowledge and finalized the design for the working and fit for production object.

A Keurig for tea

I’ll refrain from referring to the Gourmia Tea Square as a Tea-urig, but that’s what it is. It’s the tea-drinker’s go to for instant tea pleasure. Designed to brew loose-leaf tea, the Tea Square takes those godawful tea-bags and shows them the door (because the only thing that should be in bags are your groceries, says Chef Daniel Green). The Tea Square stores your water and tea leaves in separate compartments and with just a few button pushes, puts together the perfect cup of tea for you. Taking care of everything from water temperature, to steeping time, to even pouring the tea into the carafe only when it knows the carafe has been docked, the Tea Square automates process that’s known for being quite human-centric.

With the ability (abili-tea?) to brew all sorts of tea variants (and even coffee), the Tea Square is compact and takes the hassle out of brewing because sometimes all you want is to have a cup of tea in your hands without having to make it!
