This Tiny Home has its own Indoor Porch that you access through a Hidden Bookshelf Door

Designed by Acorn Tiny Homes, the Sherloak Homes brings about a novel new twist to the world of tiny home designs. The towable dwelling looks quite ordinary and simple from the outside, but the interiors feature a clever space-saving layout, which contains a hidden bookshelf doorway that leads to a light-filled enclosed porch. Measuring 34 feet in length, and based on a triple-axle trailer, the Sherloak Homes has an exterior made of woodgrain steel finish, and wood which has been charred using the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban method, providing it with a unique dark aesthetic.

The interior of the Sherloak Homes measures around 372 sq ft, and it has a distinctive oak finishing. You can enter the home via the main entrance, wherein you are welcomed by a spacious kitchen that includes a double sink, fridge/freezer, four-burner propane-powered stove, microwave, oven, breakfast bar, and loads of storage space.

Closely located to the kitchen is the living room, and the bookshelf/hidden entrance. You need to push the pressure plate which is concealed in a nearby wall-mounted light fitting, which unlocks the bookshelf door, which you can then open like a normal door. This door leads you to a light-filled enclosed porch space, which is a lovely space to relax and spend time in. This space also has another door that offers access to the outdoors directly.

The opposite end of the home houses the bathroom, which is quite compact with a sliding composting toilet that can be stowed away when not in use. This helps to maximize the floorspace of the snug bathroom. The Sherloak Homes includes two lofts – the main loft functions as the bedroom and can be reached through a storage-integrated staircase. It is a typical tiny home-style bedroom with a double bed, low ceiling, and storage. The other loft can be reached via a ladder attached to the wall, and this space can be used for storage or as an additional bedroom if need be. This space includes a netted relaxation area. This home is designed for a member of the Canadian military, who needs to move around every few years, and this house functions as an efficient tiny home on wheels.

Mjotim has the typical form and structure of a scooter, and it is meant to be ridden while standing up. The motor is encased inside, and the gear information is outside the steering column. It is equipped with two handlebars for steering.

10. Smacircle

The Smacircle scooter is designed to address the “last kilometer” problem of crowded cities. The scooter is designed to cover the distance between the subway stop, and your destination. Usually, there is a one or two-kilometer distance between your destination and each subway stop, and Smacircle helps you commute through that distance. You can fold down the scooter when you’re in the subway, and then unfold it and zoom out once you’ve reached your subway stop.

Bar stools are also pretty great, not just for sitting on the bar, but they can be placed in different sections of your home, where they can function as convenient seating solutions while also adding some spunk to your space. And a great bar stool you may want to look at is the Foundation bar stool by Bestcase.

Designed by the American brand Bestcase, the Foundation bar stool is a beautiful celebration of the rawness of aluminum, and the simple manufacturing techniques used to build it. It was designed by Bestcase co-founder Charles Constantine and was unveiled in 2022 as a part of a collection that was crafted from aluminum sheet material.  The minimal and sturdy stool features scaled-up sheets that are bent via a technique that is traditionally utilized to add some structure and solidity to thinner materials. The Aptly Named Mi Casita Is A Tiny Home With A Clever Space-Saving Interior

Designed by Modern Tiny Living, the Mi Casita, which quite accurately translates to ‘my little house’, measures around 26 feet, and showcases a clever space-saving interior, jam-packed with nifty features that are typically seen in larger models. The home features a bathroom with a tub, and a downstairs bedroom despite its modest length. It is founded on a triple-axle trailer and is accentuated by fiber cement board siding as finishing, an engineered wood trim, a charcoal-colored steel roof, and a custom cedar door.

If you put the home into perspective, it is even smaller than Baluchon’s 20 ft Sherpa tiny home, which is its pint-sized model. The interior of the home is quite full and is packed to the brim considering its compact size. As you enter the home, you are welcomed by a kitchen that includes a double sink, fridge/freezer, electric oven, and cooktop, as well as a microwave and custom cabinetry. The kitchen is connected to the living room, which features a small sofa, as well as a dining table. It is a snug and cozy area.

The living room is further connected to the downstairs master bedroom via a sliding door. The bedroom isn’t as big or spacious as compared to other rooms seen in larger homes, but it does have a sufficient amount of headroom. Since it is placed on the ground floor, this means the residents don’t need to go upstairs and position themselves on their knees to get into bed. The downstairs section also includes the bathroom, which is quite well-equipped including a standard flushing toilet, freestanding bathtub and shower, as well as a washer/dryer.

“Hut is a unique nest on a human scale, a place to pause and regenerate,” said Lavit. “A habitat where the alternating rhythm of the slats creates gaps that filter perception of this space, in a natural dialogue between inside and out.” The Hut is built using Accoya wood construction and features little gaps between the slats, which allow sunlight to stream in, while a massive circular mattress invites you in, and looks like a wonderful space for a nap. Accoya wood is an excellent material of choice since it is a high-performance modified wood that features a non-toxic treatment and can handle years of exposure to the elements and weather.

The wood is complemented by a circular metal rail which lets you hang a curtain to offer some privacy, or to provide some protection against the sun. The Hut Lounge Wood is a perfect fit for your backyard during the spring season, when the weather is kind, and nature is in full bloom.

5. Studio Nuño’s Coffee Table

Designed by Studio Nuño, this coffee table uses a new kind of joinery which reduces the assembly time to just a few minutes! However, this joinery does not hamper the structural strength of the coffee table, nor does it compromise its ability to bear the weight of everyday use. The end result is a unique coffee table that can be set up with ease while holding all your prized possessions!

Why is it noteworthy?

All you need to do is insert the legs into the slots beneath the tabletop, slide in a supporting piece, and screw that piece using an Allen wrench. The legs are available in three or four pieces for the coffee table, and the side table, so you don’t need to worry about confusing combinations.

6. LOOPS

Called LOOPS, this collection of coffee tables is designed to push the boundaries of 3D printing, and in turn build products that are larger than typical 3D-printed objects, but without the need for the extra hardware. The designer utilizes different geometric shapes with organic forms to create the tables, making it seem as if they’re growing before your eyes.

Why is it noteworthy?

The coffee tables are beautiful specimens of 3D printing and sustainable design. The tabletops have been crafted from 100% recycled plastic which is crushed, melted, and molded from used plastic! While the 3D printed bases are derived from a composite material containing cellulose from responsible forestry.

What we like

  • The base and top can be recycled once the table reaches its end of use
  • Pushes the boundaries of 3D printing

What we dislike

  • There are no options for customization it seems

7. R24 Coffee Table & Stool

Paula Valentini married her training and experience in art and urban planning to create the R24 Coffee Table and Stool. She designed the pieces for GANDIABLASCO, and the two-piece set features a sculptural and artistic beauty to it. Through the table and the stool, she wanted to explore textile architecture on a smaller and more manageable scale.

Why is it noteworthy?

“The image of the weightlessness of bodies held in space and the intention to explore structural fabrics became the guiding light of the project. Through R24 I evoke sensations and images like the evanescence of a bailiff’s wing. It is a useful object and it is also a work in space,” said Valentini.

  • The aesthetics are a bit raw and rugged, and may not be preferred by everyone

8. Wormhole Coffee Table

Designed by Olivier Gomis, this mind-boggling coffee table is his effort to transform the hypothetical wormhole into a physical manifestation. Wormholes are supposed to connect two disparate points in spacetime via a tunnel, and this coffee table is what a wormhole would look like if it ever became tangible!

Why is it noteworthy?

The table looks like a wooden plank that has been bent, allowing both ends to be placed on top of each other. They are joined together by a double cone and then glued together with sheets of maple veneer, which look like faint light lines that seem to form the grid.

What we like

  • The center of the hole features a lamp, which gives the table a rather creepy appearance in the dark

What we dislike

  • Since it has a downward curve, the objects could roll inside

9. Orbit Coffee Table

The Orbit Coffee Table is really an interesting one. It includes interloping and multicolored legs, and it is inspired by the orbits you find in outer space. Think of the images in your school textbooks, the ones involving planets orbiting around the sun, and you’ll realize how similar this furniture design is to them!

Why is it noteworthy?

The Orbit Coffee Table includes a round glass tabletop, which is supported by three oscillating glass tubes. The glass tubes intertwine, forming an interesting visual mesh, and each of them has a different color, creating a vibrant colorful sight!

  • There isn’t any storage section or space in the table

Named the Circus coffee table, this unique conceptual design is created to bring people together in an interactive, fun, and active manner. The Circus coffee table is pretty tall, and it can even be used as a regular desk if needed! Its tall and unique characteristics set it apart from typical coffee tables on the market.

Why is it noteworthy?

The table’s shapes and materials create an almost chaotic ambiance, much like a circus. It is a wooden table with metallic components which adds some functionality to the table. The table also includes metal bars and doors on opposing sides, to form a fun contrast in terms of design.

Massive Climate-Resilient Tower On An Artificial Dune Can Handle A Once-In-A-Thousand-Year Storm

This extraordinary structure is known as the Silt. It is designed to be a massive boulder gently rising out of an artificial sand dune. It is designed by ZJA and is inspired by the Belgian coastal landscape. The impressive structure can withstand a harsh beating from nature and can tackle rising seas and extreme storms as well. The structure was first revealed in 2020 and draws inspiration from the Testerep – an island that was located close to the coast of Middelkerke, Belgium in the Middle Ages. As time passed, this island became connected to the mainland through embankments and sea defenses.

Designer: ZJA

The Silt Tower was designed as an initiative to improve and elevate the local defenses from the North Sea in Middlkerk, and its unusual aesthetics have some utility as well. The artificial dune base expands a public square, which provides stunning views of the coastline. The dune-like building accommodates a casino, restaurant, and event space, while the tower hosts hotel rooms.

“The essence of the design lies in the integration of all the significant aspects, from the experience of the public to coastal reinforcement and economic impetus,” said ZJA. “With the once bleak Epernay Square as its center, the sea embankment and coastal defenses are now fused together, and an extensive new experiential landscape has arisen. Underground parking ensures that is a car-free zone, giving full scope to the public space above. The ground level is thus dedicated as a public space. Marram grass, the dune basin, and sand channels leading to the beach give back to Middelkerke the characteristic landscape it holds dear. The climb to the top of the new dune offers breathtaking views and becomes a tourist attraction in its own right,” concluded ZJA.

Essentially, the Silt includes a chunky concrete base with an attractive boulder-like section which includes a glass and concrete tower covered with latticed beams of Accoya engineered wood. The tower section also contains integrated lighting, which allows it to glow like a lovely beacon in the night. It features a massive sea wall and sturdy construction which allows it to deal well with the extreme climatic conditions of the region, including a once-in-a-thousand-year storm.
