As the weekend comes around, I often find myself fantasizing about a short sweet getaway! Just a few days away from my hectic life, and this hectic world, in a bubble of my own, where all my worries are nowhere to be seen. And I do think Camping is a plausible plan! There’s nothing more comforting or exciting than lounging about in a cozy camper while you explore the countryside. You never feel out of place, because these little campers manage to feel like a home on wheels. Fill it up with your dear belongings, and it’s your home away from home. Not to mention the camper designs today are super innovative and inventive! These resourceful campers manage to cater to almost all of our needs, solving various problems, and turning our camping experience into a fulfilling and comfortable one.

1. Wilderness Vans Range Slide-In Truck Campers

Say hello to the Wilderness Vans Range slide-in campers – the R1 and the R2. The campers have been created for all-year-round off-grid camping, and they’re amped with a whole bunch of amenities onboard. Why is it noteworthy?

With the Shorty you don’t need to compromise on comfort and living space. And once you return home, you can easily stow the trailer away in your city apartment garage until you need it for next time.

3. G-47 Teardrop Trailer

Goliath Campers built the G-47 model with top-quality marine-grade material, with finishing in appealing hues. It is designed to be a hard-shelled living unit with off-grid capabilities. 10. Romotow

Named Romotow, this innovative trailer is designed by the New Zealand-based design and architecture firm W2. It features a fixed chassis and a rotated closed living unit which swivels around the full 90 degrees to offer a comfortable outdoor living experience.

Why is it noteworthy?

The Romotow measures 30.5 feet, and in transit, it stays closed. When stationed for the night, the main living unit can be opened on both sides, creating two different sections – a big deck, and a sleeping/living cabin.

What we like

  • Powered by a 200Ah lithium battery and a 395W solar panel on the roof

  • The trailer needs to rotate a complete 90 degrees to fully open up, and that much free space may not always be available

E-cargo bike lets you transfer cargo without much effort

If you work in a business that needs to transport cargo but not that heavy that needs an actual truck, there are few options in the market that can fit that need. And of course if you’re looking for something that is eco-friendly and easy to manage and maintain, then of course the options become fewer. A German startup is offering something that operate like a mini HD truck but also seems like a pedaled dump truck.

Designer: Dynamic Drives Giessen

The Intelectra E-cargo bike is a four-wheeled, pedal-based tool that can work in cargo transport in urban areas. It is also easy to drive around in as it uses the INTELECTRIC drive system (iSHS) that turns your pedaling power into up to 250 Watts of electrical power to drive the 270-lb truck-cycle forward. So the driver will not be so stressed in “carrying” the cargo even as they pedal to their destination.

It actually looks like a regular bike or trike but with a rear cargo box with an aluminum frame at the back that is 4-foot-long, can carry up to 450kg (driver included) and can load up to 12 euro boxes. The square aluminum tubes are supported by tall, plastic-rimmed wheels. The pedal drive that extends past the wheelbase lets the driver sit upright as they power the bike through their pedaling.

The purely electric drive technology gives the Intelectra a maintenance-free system so there’s no need for things like oiling and less wear and tear. The drive system can go for 30,000 km without needing any maintenance. It can travel up to 93 km per charge while the battery can charge for an hour and a half. There are L and XL options with the latter being one euro crate width longer.

We got an Electric DeLorean before we got GTA 6…

A symbol of the 1980s and cinematic nostalgia, the DeLorean is making its comeback… not as a relic but rather as a forward-thinking electric vehicle. Lynx Motors, a brand known for its dedication to reviving classic sports cars, has announced the launch of the DMC-EV. This modern reimagining of the iconic DeLorean DMC-12 combines the car’s legendary design with the latest in electric vehicle technology, offering a unique blend of retro appeal and futuristic innovation.

The exterior of the DMC-EV stays true to the original design by Giorgetto Giugiaro, with sleek lines that instantly evoke memories of the 1980s classic. However, Lynx Motors has made several updates to bring the car into the modern era. The most noticeable changes include LED lighting at the front and rear, as well as larger, transparent panels that give the car a more contemporary look. The badging on the car has been updated to include both the Lynx and DMC-EV logos, signaling the car’s transition into the electric age. The vehicle also features larger wheels, and owners will have the option to customize the side skirts and bumpers, allowing for a personalized touch that departs from the stainless steel finish of the original DMC-12.

The interior of the DMC-EV, however, has been completely overhauled to meet modern standards. The centerpiece of the cabin is a large touchscreen display that spans the width of the dashboard, providing the driver with all the necessary information at a glance. The seats are upholstered in high-quality leather, adding a touch of luxury to the vehicle. The center console now features a wireless phone charger and a large rotary dial, making it both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The steering wheel has been redesigned as well, featuring a sporty look with carbon fiber accents and perforated leather, further enhancing the driving experience.

Under the hood, the DMC-EV draws power from four high-output in-wheel electric motors, delivering all-wheel drive and ensuring optimal performance on the road. These motors are supplied by a 70kWh CATL battery pack, which provides a range of approximately 402 kilometers on a single charge. The DMC-EV is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in under four seconds, a feat that underscores its high-performance capabilities. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with Tesla’s NACS charging port, allowing it to access Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network in the United States, making long-distance travel more convenient for its owners.

Lynx Motors has opened reservations for the DMC-EV, with a starting deposit of $2,500 USD. While the exact pricing of the vehicle remains somewhat ambiguous, with figures ranging between $249,999 and $299,500 USD, the demand for this reimagined classic is expected to be high. Deliveries are slated to begin next year, and the DMC-EV will join Lynx’s lineup alongside the GT1e, another electric restomod based on the 2005 Ford GT.

The 2025 VW ID.Buzz gets 3 full-fledged Campervan Upgrades courtesy Peace Vans

Of course, the future of van camping is electric. Arguably, in that future, the much-anticipated all-electric ID.Buzz from Volkswagen is going to be the lead. This modern, electrified variant of the retro VW Bus was expected in a campervan variant. Still, the company thought otherwise, and pushed the release back to fall 2024, citing lack of demand on the market as the reason for its thoughtful delay.

Before the camper version of the electric VW Bus can hit roads, there is a hardcore VW campervan repair and restoration outfit in Seattle, United States, by the name of Peace Vans that has introduced three fitting options to uplift the 2025 ID.Buzz into a capable campervan right from the word go when launched. Two options: either purchase an ID.Buzz directly from Peace Vans with your choice of the camper conversion option, or bring your own vehicle and return with it ready for the camping excursions.

Peace Vans has been at the forefront of retrofitting Volkswagens with camping solutions. Furthering its experience, it has three customizable units for camping enthusiasts who want their ID.Buzz to an adventure-ready vehicle. These are Buzz.Box, Buzz.Box.Sleeper, and Buzz.Camper. Ideal for tailgating or a day ride with a kitchen integrated into the back of the vehicle, the campers can go with the Box. But if you want the Box with a sleeping solution, opt for the Sleeper or you can go with the Camper for a full-fledged camp on wheels with a queen bed and indoor kitchen.

The Box, as we said, is designed for day trips. It comprises a kitchen complete with an integrated cooktop, a fridge, a sink, and some prep area. The Box would fit in the back of the ID.Buzz and would require the third-row seats removed to accommodate the kitchen setup. If you want some sleeping area along with the Box kitchen – so you can spend at least a weekend in the wilderness – choose the Sleeper option that includes a fold-out bed to transform the back of your van into a comfortable sleeping area.

For the more hardcore, of course, is the Camper add-on that would convert the ID.Buzz into an ultimate adventure van with a fully functional internal kitchen, a queen-sized bed, storage cabinets, and much more. The Camper unit would require the removal of both rows of seats, leaving you with just two seats up front. If you’re a couple wanting a campervan, you shouldn’t look beyond this. To make the integration somewhat lucrative for you, the three units are fairly priced by Peace Vans. The Buzz.Box would be $7,995, while Buzz.Box.Sleeper would cost $10,995. The price of the Camper unit is still under wraps even though the company has started taking pre-orders for all its variants with delivery expected in November.

Super dad hand-crafts a working Apple Car concept out of wood for his son

The dream of the electric Apple Car has vanished after much speculation, and finally the painful official closing of the Project Titan by the Cupertino-giant after a decade of R&D. While millions were invested in the exciting project, Apple ditched the adventurous plan this year.

However, ND Woodworking Art, the YouTube DIY channel by Trương Văn Đạo, a Vietnamese craftsman has his version that suggests Apple should have gone ahead with the venture. The skilled dad has created some of the most amazing wooden cars for his kids, and this time around he has bowled me over with the Apple iCar. His son has to be one of the luckiest kids on the planet, and perhaps the only one to own a functional Apple Car. Even though it’s a custom DIY with no association with the consumer electronics giant, the final finishes of the electric car are stunning.

Design: ND Woodworking Art

The design of the aerodynamic-looking iCar starts with assembling the metal frame structure on which the specially cut wooden panels sit one plank at a time. The intricacy of the handmade design doesn’t end there as Trương fine-tunes the look beyond anyone’s imagination or crafting plans. The process involves a lot of detailing and intricate work. He first sands the wooden surface for the ideal finish that’s complementary to a supercar’s bodywork. Then comes a layer of coating for the glossy look.

For the steering wheel, seats and other consoles he uses a darker tone of wood to contrast the light finish on the outside.  To create a faux dashboard and infotainment system he puts a tinted fiberglass on Apple iOS-like interface. He doesn’t shy away from installing tinted fiberglass panels for the windshield and windows as well. Lastly, He meticulously crafts the Apple logos from dark wood, both for the front and back, and the wheel rims. For the headlights, taillights and ambient lighting on the windows, Trương uses LED lighting strips.

The final creation is simply breathtaking even though it is in an electric toy car powered by an electric motor on the rear. Seeing it drive on the local roads is more than just satisfying and dads should derive inspiration from this man for his effort and skill!

Ayrton Senna’s Legendary 1988 F1 car takes e-scooter form, courtesy Pure Electric

Adam Norris, father of the talented F1 driver Lando Norris, owns Pure Electric which burst into the scene in the last few years for its practical and future-oriented electric rides. The Brit company is on a roll lately with the release of themed electric scooters tailored for urban scenarios.

The fourth in the edition was the McLaren-themed e-scooter built on their trending Advance+ model. The final version in this series is the MP4/4 Special Edition e-scooter based on the nostalgic form of the McLaren team’s Formula 1 car seated by Alian Prost and Ayrton Senna. The legendary duo took the superior machine to its limit, extracting maximum performance and desired results for the team.

Designer: Pure Electric

The e-scooter comes with the same speedy performance, and is draped in the famous color-blocked red and white livery. This is not the first Ayrton-themed e-scooter in the edition as Pure Electric revealed the Senna Special Edition e-scooter in the Brazilian national flag colors. The performance of the 1988 F1 car-themed two-wheeler truly compliments the narrative of one of the most successful cars ever in motorsports history. It has a stable and controlled e-ride experience honed by a 710w peak power output and 31 mph range. This makes it apt for strong hill climbing and acceleration without eating up the battery power.

The IP65-rated Pure x McLaren MP4/4 Special Edition has a forward-facing stance for balanced racing aesthetics and a lower center of gravity. For urban practicality, the e-scooter comes with folding handlebars and foot pads that you can store in your car’s boot. Safety takes precedence as it comes with steering stabilization for reduced wobble and rear KERS brakes for control on every corner, even on rough surfaces. For nighttime navigation, the e-scooter has 150 lumens headlight and rear brake lights.

Give your VW camper van more portable storage and dining space with the Bbox Bulli in tow

If you’re someone who loves to live in the wilderness in a camper van, you wouldn’t really mind the peace of mind and convenience that a towable little attachment capable of being your cargo hauler, a dining area, a small kitchen or a wardrobe, whatever you may like, can offer.

The Bbox Bulli Edition by mfi camperlife GmbH in Germany is this towable little companion – designed primarily for the Volkswagen camper vans – that will be your ultimate companion at the base camp. Not just for its versatility but also for the compact size in which the Bbox Bulli can store up so much cargo that your van can be cleared up on the inside for comfortable travel on the road.

The convenience of a tiny towable behind your Bulli is not an inexpensive deal by any standard. If you have upward of $13,000 (€11,900) to spare for an extension of your van-living quarters, you shouldn’t think the second time. But if you choose to get one, the excitement is not going to stop at the extension itself, you can get mfi to customize the Bbox Bulli Edition to the color and theme of your ride (now maybe the price seems a little fair).

Of course, this contraption is primarily meant to tow behind a Volkswagen camper van, but there seems to be no reason why you cannot have it in tow of any multi-purpose vehicle that you may drive. When in tow, the Bbox Bulli, comprising a fiberglass-sandwich body and weighing 880 lbs, can be used as an outdoor kitchen and dining using a camping stove and fold-out table. There are two side closets with configurable shelves to carry water canisters, coolers and other gear, which otherwise tend to clutter up the camper van space side.

For those who are wondering how much this little guy can carry, the Bbox Bulli Edition, mfi informs, can carry 660 lbs of payload and has integrated lighting for convenience and jazzing up your camp. Measuring 37 inches deep and 87 inches tall, its tow bar stretches forward from the body, doubling the total length to up to 80 inches.

Trek’s $99 Electronic Bicycle Bell is essentially a Bluetooth Speaker you attach to your handlebars

It works as a bicycle bell, allows you to customize your bell sound/volume based on location or urgency, helps narrate GPS directions, and even doubles as a wireless speaker for music and podcasts when you’re not pedaling around.

Our cars and motorbikes have had electronic horns for decades at this point, so the fact that bicycles still resort to a metal ringer feels a little archaic, doesn’t it? That’s precisely the point folks at Trek Bikes are making – that bicycle bells haven’t adapted to modern times and scenarios. Sure, sometimes a melodious metal ‘trrring’ works well, but it may get drowned out in the bustling traffic of a city. Go on a mountain trail and that same metal ‘tring’ may sound too harsh and jarring. The solution, an electronic bicycle bell that lets you choose your sound based on your surroundings and situations… and when you’re not riding around, the bell doubles as an everyday Bluetooth speaker, for listening to tunes or episodes of your favorite podcast.

The $99 BellBeats isn’t just a Bluetooth speaker attached to your handlebars. It has audio drivers optimized by Harman and comes with an audio bank of bell/alert noises professionally sound-designed to encompass a wider frequency range so they’re much more audible, even in noisy environments. The tiny device is exactly the size and shape of a bicycle bell, and attaches to your handlebars exactly where a bell would sit. A thumb button lets you trigger the bell sounds, and depending on where you’re driving or how urgent the need is, you can choose between the quintessential trill of a metal bell or even a train horn. The BellBeats comes with a set of 8 bell sounds ranging from ambient to blaring, and you can set two sounds as your default, triggered either by short or long-pressing the thumb button.

Aside from the obvious bell function, the BellBeats has a few other tricks up its sleeve. For trail bikers, the BellBeats can be programmed to play ambient audio loops that alert hikers and pedestrians (or even animals) of your presence without being too jarring. The bell can also be synced with your phone to narrate directions while navigating using a map app on your phone. Although I don’t endorse it, you can even listen to music, podcasts, and audiobooks while riding. Easy-access buttons on the speaker (not the thumb-button) let you play/pause tracks or increase/decrease the volume of your device.

When you’re off your bicycle, the speaker unit of the BellBeats can detach off its handlebar mount, turning into a puck-shaped Bluetooth speaker. Its punchy audio drivers deliver loud, crisp sound… although don’t expect it to have a good bass response. It’s loud for its size, but the low-end may disappoint when compared to larger wireless speakers with their own dedicated sub-woofers.

With all those upgrades, however, comes a caveat. Traditional metal bells don’t need to have their batteries recharged periodically… the BellBeats, however, does. It has a 6-hour battery life, which might be a deal-breaker for some. Essentially, that means it won’t last you more than a day if you’re an avid cyclist, and you’ll need to keep a power bank handy to juice your bicycle bell. The prospect of a bike bell dying on you mid-ride is even more worrying, as it can clearly lead to accidents. To remedy that, an LED battery bar above the volume controls keeps you updated on the BellBeats’ battery life, so you’re always aware of exactly how much juice you’ve got on hand. Still, it’s a trade-off worth considering if you’re ready to spring $99 for the device. Being able to customize your bike bell to sound like an old-timey honker or a train horn does have its own appeal!

Paris Olympics themed limited edition e-bikes by DAB Motors spice-up the highly competitive market

Paris 2024 Olympics is nearing the penultimate stage, as the US and China again dominate the prized spots. Perhaps the perfect time for DAB Motors to release their Olympics-themed DAB 1α electric motorbikes. This Peugeot Motorcycles owned French brand has made deep inroads in the two-wheeler EV market and these five themed e-bikes reflect their prowess.

The electric motorbike brand celebrates the spirit of the ongoing Olympics by interpreting the five rings of the event with five different bikes. These are created by their service branch which goes by the name DAB Custom Studio. The color code of the Olympic rings is represented in the sports-oriented version of the DAB 1α.

Using the motorbike as the canvas, the limited-edition collection dubbed ‘A la gloire du sport’ represents blue for surfing, green for tennis, yellow for basketball, red for boxing and black for skateboarding. Lucky clients who’ve pre-booked the first production versions of the e-bike can give their rundown of the version they’ll prefer and the unique DAB 1α is delivered as per their liking. DAB Motors’ founder Simon Dabadie chose these five sports to represent the rings in the form of these cool motorbikes. We imagine, these are his favorite sports from the event and the final creations by the design team are impressive.

The freedom of the blue variant is perfect for surfers as it gets a front luggage rack and surfboard rack. The bespoke surfboard mounted on the right side carries the DAB branding. It has a saddle finished in wetsuit-style neoprene and special off-road beach-ready tires that have silver forks. In fact, the brand’s roots are in the coastal city of Biarritz, so this version is a homage to the company’s inception.

For Djokovic fans the green and white version is perfect. It comes with a tartan seat, a racket holder on the left side and a rack on the front to carry balls. The brown tires with white spokes stand out and the DAB 1α adapts a completely different personality in this attire.

The more Gen-Z-oriented black version represents the fun of skateboarding in the city streets. This model has carbon bodywork, BMX handlebars foam and hand-painted graffiti. For a robust character, the bike gets crash pods, a tubular protection structure and a skate rack to stash a skateboard.

The fighting spirit is represented in the red and black with gold accents on the suspension rods of the boxing edition. Saddle on this one has a pair of boxing gloves to kick in a fight and represents the tough culture of the golden era.

Finally, the Yellow edition represents the resilience of the basketball game and the connection to street culture. This one comes with a side pannier to hold the ball or your sporting kit. The vibrant shades also represent the hip-hop culture associated with the popular game.
