Truong Van Dao of ND Woodworking is one of the most creative and loving dads you’ll ever meet. His tenacity for making wooden cars that are second to none speaks a lot of his passion. The Rolls-Royce Boat Tail brought to life in his wood workshop was one of the coolest gifts a father can give his toddler son. As my fellow editor rightly said in that article, the creation is undoubtedly “more valuable than a $28 million car can ever be!”

Now the super dad has created a unique wooden car right out of some sci-fi series plot. The idea initially generated from AI took shape as a real-life vehicle that is second to none. To me, this seems like the machine from the acclaimed novel Time Machine by H.G. Wells. The most amazing thing is the wooden vehicle’s attention to detail in design, and I’m completely in awe just looking at the thing.

The inside of the big cogwheels makes up the cockpit section for the driver to maneuver this crazy looking four wheeler. The front wheels are the normal size, but real wheels even smaller, are given the appearance of big chunky wheels with design ingenuity. Functional mechanical parts are exposed making the DIY even more intricate. The initial phase involved creating the chassis out of a metal frame and then building the intricate woodwork for it. Mind you it took a lot of time to carve each section with hand, carving the wheels, mechanical levers and the curvaceous body. The power comes from the four onboard batteries with good torque to pull the thing forward. Top speed is kept very limited since Truong’s son will be driving this crazy contraption.

Every little detail is taken care of by the talented woodworking dad, right from the seating compartment, gearbox and input pedals to the cog-driven lever mechanism, taillights and concealing away the rear wheels. The snail-shell-like cockpit of the four-wheeler has neon lights to add an element of sci-fi. No matter where this vehicle goes – be it in the dark or broad daylight – it is going to catch eyeballs and garner appreciation from everyone simply because of the amount of effort and creativity put into the making.

A capable trailer that can go virtually anywhere your towing vehicle can; the Next Adventure Trailer combines the comfort of a camper with the robustness required for off-road adventure. It can be hauled by cars as small as the original Mini.

Why is it noteworthy?

This camper is a standard model from ’85, and it includes all the essentials – seating, bed, and kitchen amenities. It also includes a grill and a porta-potty under the seating. It may not be as well furnished and equipped as other campers on the market, but it does give us a tiny slice of nostalgia, offering a camping experience from the retro age.

What we like

  • Can be hauled by small cars as well

What we dislike

  • We don’t think it can accommodate more than 1-2 travelers
  • Not well-equipped for long trips

2. Wilderness Vans Range Slide-In Truck Campers

Called the Wilderness Vans Range slide-in campers – the R1 and R2, these comfy campers have been created for all-year-round off-grid camping. The campers are well-designed with an ample amount of space, amped with amenities onboard. They are equipped with windows and skylights, ensuring a generous flow of natural light.

Why is it noteworthy?

The campers are fully insulated to support all kinds of weather. They feature natural fiber and wool installation in the ceilings and walls, and cushioned wood layering with cell foam to keep the interiors warm and comfy during the cold weather, and cool during the hot weather.

What we like

  • Equipped with a generous number of storage options

What we dislike

  • There is no pop-up option, so the headroom on the bed isn’t much

3. Karoo Adventure Camper

Meet the electric bike-friendly Karoo Adventure Camper. This new adventure camping trailer features an interesting layout that will carry the gear in the same space we live in, without making the entire area cramped and stuffy. The company has designed various variants to make camping and toy hauling unified for families.

Why is it noteworthy?

Besides focusing on space utilization, the Karoo Adventure Camper will take you on interesting adventures beyond the power grid, owing to its 6-kWh lithium-ion battery and rooftop solar panels. The camper can also juice up your e-bikes, and it is also quite easily towable since it only weighs 750 kg.

  • It isn’t out for sale yet, so we arent sure how the final product will turn out to be

4. X-Cabin 300

Named the X-Cabin 300, this all-aluminum camper trailer is quite lightweight and designed by the Japanese startup X Cabin. It can convert your outdoor adventures into a comfortable and pleasant journey owing to its innovative and sleek design, amped with high-efficiency features.

Why is it noteworthy?

The X-Cabin’s glistening riveted aluminum exterior and classic rounded corners instantly grab attention, reminding you of the Airstream trailers. But the X-Cabin 300 is set apart from them, courtesy of its boxier design and a high-efficiency floor plan which makes complete use of the floor.

What we like

  • Features a solid foundation with a steel chassis produced by German manufacturer AL-KO

What we dislike

  • A bit heavy on the pocket, so may not be in everyone’s price point

5. T2.3

Designed by Hearth Gardella and Ryan Schassen, this adorable VW-themed pop-up camping trailer has a compact and cozy form. Constructed using aircraft steel, it was quite easy and quick to build. It serves as a “lightweight, affordable, and timeless” design. The camper is available in three versions, with one featuring a pop-up roof that raises the internal standing headroom to 6 feet 4 inches.

Why is it noteworthy?

Called the T2.3, this camper draws inspiration from the 1940s Volkswagen bus and is equipped with aero-grade steel panels. This provides the camper with a lightweight and durable form. The presence of the steel panels makes the camper easy to tow behind a small electric vehicle.

What we like

  • Features classic VW-inspired aesthetics
  • Equipped with a pop-up roof

What we dislike

  • Not all the models are equipped with a kitchenette, only one is

The Bugatti Tourbillon comes with a 1800 HP hybrid engine and the most insane steering wheel ever

Bugatti has a long history of shattering expectations in the world of hyper sport cars. From the Veyron’s record-breaking horsepower to the Chiron’s mind-bending acceleration, each new model pushes the boundaries of what’s possible. The 2026 Bugatti Tourbillon doesn’t just continue this legacy; it rewrites it entirely. However, it does so in the most Bugatti way possible. The Tourbillon, which unexpectedly dropped today, might just be the iPad of cars – outwardly, it looks relatively unchanged, with perhaps a few tweaks to a design language that is unabashedly Bugatti… but just like the iPad Pro shattered expectations with the M4 chip, the Bugatti Tourbillon does with its new hybrid engine, and arguably one of the most bonkers-looking steering wheels I’ve ever seen in a non-F1 car.

The Tourbillon marks a significant departure from its predecessors. Unlike the Veyron and Chiron, whose souls were powered by the mighty W16 engine, the Tourbillon ushers in a new era of electrification for Bugatti. At the heart of this new beast lies a colossal 8.3-liter, naturally-aspirated V16 engine, co-developed with Cosworth, churning out a monstrous 986 horsepower. This monstrous internal combustion engine is then supplemented by a trio of electric motors strategically placed throughout the car to achieve all-wheel drive and superior torque vectoring. The combined output of this innovative powertrain is a mind-numbing 1,775 horsepower, propelling the Tourbillon to the pinnacle of automotive performance.

However, the brilliance of the Tourbillon goes far beyond its sheer power. Bugatti has meticulously crafted a design that transcends mere aesthetics, seamlessly integrating cutting-edge aerodynamics into the car’s very form. The iconic horseshoe grille, a signature element of modern Bugattis, remains a focal point. But every line and curve on the car’s sculpted body is meticulously designed to manage airflow and generate downforce at unimaginable speeds. This design philosophy isn’t just about creating a visually striking car; it’s about ensuring exceptional stability and control for the driver when pushing the Tourbillon to its limits.

Bugatti engineers have employed over two decades of expertise gleaned from the Veyron and Chiron projects to equip the Tourbillon with a suite of cutting-edge aerodynamic technologies. One such innovation is the ingenious rear wing. Unlike traditional spoilers that rise abruptly at high speeds, the Tourbillon’s wing remains subtly submerged even during top-speed runs. This is achieved through a meticulously designed airflow management system that generates a perfect equilibrium of forces, eliminating the need for a visually intrusive spoiler. The wing automatically adjusts to provide higher downforce at lower speeds and acts as an airbrake for improved stability during deceleration.

Another key element in the Tourbillon’s aerodynamic prowess is the all-new diffuser concept. This ingenious system starts its climb just behind the passenger cabin, rising at an optimal angle to keep the car perfectly balanced. This diffuser is cleverly integrated with a completely new crash structure, hidden from sight within the diffuser itself. This design not only ensures exceptional aerodynamic efficiency but also maintains the clean lines of the car’s open rear end.

The interior of the Tourbillon is a testament to Bugatti’s commitment to timeless design and unparalleled craftsmanship. In a bold move away from the ubiquitous digital displays dominating modern car interiors, the Tourbillon features a completely analogue instrument cluster. Crafted by Swiss watchmakers, these instruments exude the same precision and elegance found in the world’s finest timepieces. This choice is a subtle nod to the car’s name, “Tourbillon,” a reference to a revolutionary watchmaking innovation that prioritizes timeless design and functionality over fleeting trends.

The Bugatti Tourbillon boasts a revolutionary steering wheel unlike any other. It defies the norm by having a fixed central hub that houses the analog gauges, including a tachometer and speedometer. These remain constantly visible no matter how much the driver turns the wheel. This is achieved through ingenious engineering with a planetary gearbox that allows the rim to rotate independently of the center console. Crafted from lightweight materials like titanium and aluminum, the steering wheel is a marvel of design and engineering that also pays a grand tribute to the origins of the car’s name – the tourbillon. The car’s dashboard is an homage to haute timekeeping, with a speedometer that looks like it was pulled from a premium chronograph, as do the other ‘subdials’ on the side. With its intricate mechanics and luxurious feel, it perfectly complements the Bugatti’s reputation for marrying cutting-edge technology with timeless elegance.

The meticulously designed driver’s environment extends beyond the instrument cluster. The cabin is awash in the finest materials, including supple leather and exposed carbon fiber accents. Every detail, from the meticulously stitched seats to the flawlessly machined metal controls, is a testament to Bugatti’s dedication to creating a luxurious and functional space that elevates the driving experience to an art form.

Bugatti has begun testing the highly anticipated Tourbillon hypercar. Prototypes are currently undergoing rigorous evaluation on the road, paving the way for customer deliveries in 2026. Production will be strictly limited to just 250 units, each meticulously hand-assembled at the Bugatti Atelier in Molsheim, France. The Tourbillon follows the final W16-powered Bugatti models, the Bolide and W16 Mistral, and boasts a starting price of €3.8 million net (approx $4 million USD).

Student reimagines Police Car Interiors as a functional mobile office space for law enforcement

For decades, police cars have been an adaptation, not an innovation. Budgetary constraints often relegate officers to modified sedans, ill-equipped for the specific demands of law enforcement. But a recent design project by David Dahlberg, a graduate from Sweden’s Umeå Institute of Design, is challenging this status quo. Dahlberg’s concept car interior, envisioned for the Swedish police force in 2035, throws out the one-size-fits-all approach and meticulously tailors the workspace to the unique needs of officers on the go.

Dahlberg’s design directly addresses common complaints voiced by officers. Disorganized storage overflowing with loose equipment, cramped legroom hindering movement, and excessive wear and tear on the interior from frequent use were all major pain points.

The solution lies in a complete overhaul of the layout. Ditching the sedan platform, Dahlberg proposes a medium-sized electric D-SUV. This shift provides ample space for a more ergonomic design. The interior is divided into two distinct zones, each optimized for a specific role. The driver’s area features a streamlined control panel with essential functions readily accessible. Gone are the distracting infotainment systems found in civilian cars – this is a dedicated workspace prioritizing officer safety and focus.

Meanwhile, the passenger side transforms into a dedicated work area. Centralized storage with designated compartments eliminates the clutter of loose equipment, while individual compartments provide easy access to personal gear. A modular system allows for further customization, with officers able to add or remove accessories based on their specific needs. This passenger workspace even features a pull-out whiteboard, perfect for quick note-taking during field operations.

Technology is seamlessly integrated for maximum efficiency. Both the police computer and radio are mounted on a rail system, allowing officers to adjust them for optimal positioning. This flexibility ensures comfort and reduces strain, especially during extended periods on patrol.

The interior utilizes durable, easy-to-clean materials derived from recycled sources. This “circular” approach minimizes environmental impact, aligning with the growing trend of eco-conscious design. Perhaps the most innovative aspect of Dahlberg’s concept lies in its modularity. Each component, from the central storage unit to the passenger work module, is designed for interchangeability and easy upgrades. This not only allows the Swedish police to adapt the interior as their needs evolve but also opens the door for potential use in other professional settings requiring similar mobile workspaces.

This Mad Max-esque Porsche 928 had a very important role in achieving 911’s current status quo

While the Porsche 911 has evolved into an iconic roadster, the Porsche 928 has played second fiddle in shaping the acoustics for the sports car all these years. You probably might never have heard about the Porsche 928 but the famed grand tourer initially created to replace the 911, faded away into the mid-90s.

One lucky Porsche 928 served as a testbed for three decades to test the noise to help the German manufacturer stay within the permissible limits of the law while also having a sweet sound signature compared to the competition. The Grand Tourer was the perfect fit as opposed to the 924 which had a lower engine speed, the 911 which was too loud, or the 944 which had a lot of gearbox rattle at low speeds. Porsche test engineer Harald Mann called it the dinosaur for obvious reasons.

The prized vehicle saw a host of additions for the purpose of acoustic testing, like adding scoops to the engine compartment or bonnet. Porsche had a routine of testing the car to achieve the sweet 63 dB low noise level by accelerating to 30 mph and smoothly moving up to 37 mph on a 20-meter stretch rigged with microphones. This one-off gem also comes with a 5.4 liter V8 engine refined from the early 90s tests. The vehicle’s interiors are kept to a minimum, making it a unique proposition. No doubt it adorns the Porsche Museum now for automotive enthusiasts to revel in the live history of Porsche’s innovation.

What we are interested in about the rare 928 is its Mad Max-esque looks that have a hint of Back to The Future element. The engineers had to wrap the car in cotton wool for noise dampening, and it was mounted on the radiator giving it a very intimidating persona. On the rear, the enormous exhaust silencer strapped to the window gives off the same vibe. Imagine this rare Porsche driving on the streets for Instagrammable reels and pictures.

Genius Two-Part Saddle moves as you bicycle to let you go long distances without soreness

The excitement of learning to ride a bicycle came with the realization that the more time you rode the more pain was inflicted on the butts. Yes, those days of early riding were all about non-stop riding the bike as speeds increased with every confidence boost, and the consequent sore rear by the end of the day.

To keep any bicycle true to the basics and long-lasting, the saddle has to be firm and contoured for maximum comfort. That however is counterintuitive as the seat can be uncomfortable during long rides. The solution is to prevent the body part from being pushed against a stationary support surface. How do you do that? With a movable saddle mechanism that doesn’t strain your butts. Thank god!

The story of this unique bike saddle’s development started with the idea of a compliant bicycle seat in 2016 by Australian engineer Robin Macan. Sometime after that, he met with industrial designer Philippe Guichard to take things further and create a two-part bicycle saddle that makes it ultra-comfortable for riders no matter the length of time they paddle. This ultimately led to the partnership with Melbourne-based Whistle Design Group to take the vision further and develop an actual product.

Macan finally created his startup ataraxyBSC to solve the problem of a pain-inducing bicycle saddle that’s been left in the shadow for decades. The solution is the vabsRider bicycle saddle with a split seat design. This simple yet clever saddle moves with the movement of legs, rotating around the hip joints to eliminate any pressure-inducing surface contact. Both the sides move independently with the leg movement, transferring pressure from the sit bones to the femurs, This creates a balanced load distribution, and gone are the sore muscles when bicycling for long hours at a stretch.

The user can further adjust the fore/aft and height, or toggle the angle or width of the saddle. The latter I’ve always wondered why no one thought about before. Custom Lexus GX bakes oven fresh pizzas in the boot, comes with luxe appliances and exclusive Monogram interiors

2024 Lexus GX as a 7-seater off-road SUV has hit the right notes with the most critical reviewers after the official launch. The car carries forward the Japanese automaker’s promise of luxury with performance. To bring something unique to the world of a kitchen on wheels, Lexus has teamed up with GE’s Monogram (luxury appliance division) to fit a Smart Flush Heart Oven in the rear of the bossy car.

The luxury culinary experience on board this off-road SUV seems like an odd combination when we talk of practicality since the vehicle will tread inhospitable dirt tracks bouncing around. That though fades away quickly as soon as one lays eyes on the exquisite vehicle, inside out. The interiors are embellished with a stainless-steel, black, and brass color scheme, with gold badges, gold accents. That’s a good start for the adventure-oriented GX, but there’s a lot more, so read on.

Designer: Lexus and GE Monogam

The idea here is to convert the capable off-roader into a bespoke culinary experience on wheels” right from the moment you enter the vehicle, drive it and then take a break to eat some delicacies. Monogram doesn’t just stop at the rear, the whole interiors are done in the matching theme with dual-tone camel leather seats and door panel trims, complemented by the brass and titanium metal along with the Dekton slate stone accents. The interior has numerous luxury appliances and accessories to elevate the whole experience. According to Lexus, the one-off GX comes fitted with a rare heated ice press (between the rear seats) that makes spherical ice cubes.

What makes it a lip-smacking proposition is the boot having a Smart Flush Hearth Oven with a 30-inch display. The electric oven is custom-made to mimic the performance of a wood-fired brick oven to bake pizzas and other eatables. Of course, you’ll need something to drink along, so there are pressured fitted cutouts on the side panels to store wine, bourbon, glasses and bottle openers. To complement this, Monogram has fitted a bar complete with a bar kit, glassware, bitters and a folding cutting board. Other essentials like cutlery and trash bin are houses inside the truck for quick retrieval. Everything is finely trimmed with quilted leather and carpeting, with the addition of a Dekton slate stone countertop-like plating station.

Julie Mehretu is known for her expansive and intricate canvases, and she recently transformed the BMW M Hybrid V8 – an automobile of power and precision into a dynamic and intriguing piece of art. It was designed to be a performative painting which would race in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. Mehretu had digitally altered photos, layered dot grids, neon veils, and her signature black markings to build a stunning and three-dimensional masterpiece.

5. Mercedes-Benz Dresscode

This is the Mercedes-Benz Dresscode – a car that is designed to be the epitome of iconic luxury. The automotive features the shapes of collars, and the stunning rich volumes of a formal dress. If you look closely at the mesmerizing hypercar, you will notice that it looks like a white shirt with a tie on top, and a black jacket placed over it. The white portions of the car function as the shirt with the edged surfaces, while the black body covering the car brings to mind the image of a jacket.
