How this fashionable Apple AirPods necklace makes sure you never lose them again

Apple’s AirPods ushered in a new generation of audio accessories and put the 3.5mm headphone jack on its way to retirement. But while the previously ridiculed wireless earbuds have practically become the new trend, unsurprisingly, it did create a new problem for people still unused to juggling two small thingamajigs in their hands. AirPods keep getting lost left and right, pun intended, forcing people to waste money on backup pairs. It’s extremely difficult when you lose one piece, so the best answer is to always keep them together no matter what. That’s exactly the kind of solution that these neck straps offer, but they do so in a way that transforms practical utility into trendsetting fashion.

Panther Black

Truly wireless earbuds like the AirPods free us from the tyranny of tangled cables, but that liberty doesn’t come without its own price. In theory, they should always be inside their case when they’re not on your ears, but in practice, people tend to take them off temporarily, only to forget where they placed them in the first place. That’s the benefit that cables have, even for those wireless earphones that still have a wire connecting both ends since you can always hang them around your neck while not using them.

Daisy Yellow

That’s the design that the PodChain is aiming for, but it takes the concept to the next level when it comes to aesthetics. Yes, it provides a strap you can attach a pair of AirPods or AirPods Pro so you can hang them around your neck or on a hook until it’s time to use them again or charge them. The key difference is that it goes a step further in making sure those buds don’t just dangle off your shoulders.

Midnight Blue

With a One Click Patented Lock, you can easily secure each AirPod in place. And, when you’re not using them, you can magnetically join the two pieces together, closing the loop around your neck. No more dangling ends that get snagged by objects and people you pass by; just a single, eye-catching woven cord that you can proudly wear like a necklace.

And that’s where the AirPods necklace’s other big features comes in. Each strap is made from beautifully braided cords that combine complementary colors, depending on the style. Blue, black, and gray combine to create a romantic Midnight Blue, while yellow, blue, and brown mix for an earthy Daisy Yellow. And you don’t have to settle for one, either since you can easily change the necklace you’ll wear depending on your mood or outfit for the day. So give yourself some well-deserved peace of mind with these stylish necklaces designed to give your AirPods a home so that they never get lost again.

A neat looking heat sheet

There’s a myriad of products out there just waiting to step out of their functional avatar and become a thing of beauty. You see, technology is bound to make things better; but it’s only design that can make something aesthetic. And that only happens when an ambitious designer’s gaze falls upon a mundane looking product. A team from the ENSCI Institute in France gave the radiator its much needed aesthetic liberation.

The radiator makes use of Porcelain pieces that are “woven” together with the heating wire. Porcelain does a tremendous job of diffusing heat. Not to mention the porcelain woven structure is highly breathable, allowing the air passing through to be heated quickly and effectively. The radiator’s “porcelain pixel” based design also gives it the ability to sport beautiful color patterns and gradients! What you therefore have is something that’s made better looking and much more functional through design. It’s tremendously pleasing to see when design actually enables technology to do a better job!

Woven’s wearable platform for gaming, cool points and a whole lot more (video)

Woven's wearable platform for gaming, cool points and a whole lot more (video)

TshirtOS showed us one take on wearable gadgetry earlier this month, and now it's Woven's turn. This particular e-garment packs quite the selection of hardware, as you can see above -- a trio of LilyPad Arduino boards (and some custom ones), a Bluetooth module, 12 x 12 RGB LED "screen", speakers, bend sensors, a heart rate monitor, shake motors and a power pack. You'll need to accessorize, of course, with a smartphone for hardware harmony and to run companion apps. So what's it for, you ask? Well, the creators are touting it primarily as a "pervasive" gaming platform, and even seem to have a working first title in the form of SPOOKY (think gesture-based ghost-fighting). Other uses (which appear a little more conceptual) see Woven as a workout companion, TV remote, Wii controller, social network alerter or simply a fashion accessory. Check out the videos below to see it in action and imagine all the fun you could have in the five minutes before you're ushered into that padded room.

Space Invaders Gift Toppers Ready to Land on Presents Everywhere

Don’t these paper Space Invaders look amazing? They are all rainbow and pixelly just how I like ‘em. Perfect to put on top of a gift or just hang up on the wall. These bring back good memories of blasting aliens to smithereens. Plus, the handmade touch makes them much nicer than just plain old Space Invaders wrapping paper.

They were made by Kate of Minieco who is a very talented paper knitter. I don’t think I could have done anywhere near as good of a job as she did, but if you want to try your hand at making these, she has instructions on her website.

She suggests using them as gift toppers instead of bows, which is a great idea, but you could use them in any number of ways and they will look great. These are so good I can already hear the sound effects of the game rattling around in my head.
