First Chinese SUV with built-in rooftop tent is co-developed by Huawei and is all set for preorder

Chinese automotive and technology stalwarts are combining to give the off-road camping industry a new twist. It’s for the first time that a flagship SUV is gearing up to hit the Chinese market with a rooftop tent pre-installed. The tent would deploy into a fully-fledged habitat on top of the off-road vehicle at the push of a button from its cockpit.

So, when the Stelato G9, built in a joint effort by Huawei and Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC Group), goes on preorder starting August 5, according to Chinese sources, the luxury SUV will include an optional tent built into its roof and sunroof assembly. This would be completely different from aftermarket rooftop tents that have to be bolted on the roof of the vehicle.

Rooftop tents are common in North America. So, they are in China as well. But this is the first time that a vehicle is entering the market pre-fitted with a rooftop tent from the factory. At the time of writing, not much is available in the public domain about the Stelato G9, except for the fact that it will come with the optional choice of a camping solution on its roof.

Other than that, from information collected through Chinese regulatory filings, we can confirm that the vehicle will be available in a fully electric option and an extended-range electric model comprising a gas engine to generate charge for the battery. The G9 measures 5.2 m (17 ft) long and has a wheelbase of 3.16 m (10.4 ft). Its interior will come in either a 5- or 6-seater layout and would be certified to tow 2,000 kg. For its off-road capability, the vehicle will offer a wading depth of 900 mm. It will feature a side-opening tailgate, an external storage box, roof rack, and tow hook.

Stelato, according to the information shared on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo, will begin accepting preorders for the G9 starting at 2:30 pm Beijing Time on August 5. The SUV – with an optional rooftop camping tent – is expected to officially launch in the third quarter of 2026. Stelato G9, in addition to being the first with an integrated push-button rooftop tent, is also the brand’s first foray into the rugged off-road segment.

Stelato, an electric vehicle brand, operates under Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), a collaboration between BAIC and Huawei. The latter provides a HarmonyOS-assisted autonomous driving system and LiDAR tech to manage the technology within the vehicle. The tent, which is also activated through the Huawei system onboard, is part of the sunroof assembly. When it’s not in use, the tent appears sitting flush against the roofline of the G9.

When the tent is deployed, the roof lifts from one side and extends into a two-part tent. The main triangular portion has a low front and tall back. A built-in lighting pole separates it from the smaller auxiliary tent that extends from the other side of the main structure. Reportedly, the roof tent also unlocks a side awning. It is also deployed using the same single button press as the tent itself. We do not have the exact pricing details at the moment, but reports suggest the Stelato G9 could start somewhere around $74,000. It is currently planned for the Chinese market only.

KONKR Pocket Advance handheld is AYANEO’s modern take on the Game boy Advance

AYANEO leans towards Nintendo nostalgia more often than not for its handhelds, as we’ve seen in the past. The Flip DS and Pocket DS were their previous handhelds popular with the gaming community. Now they’re back at it with a Game Boy Advance-inspired device that’s released under the KONKR moniker as a part of the new REMAKE series. Some of the previous releases from the sub-brand include the KONKR Pocket Block AI  and the KONKR Fit.

Even the naming convention is a whole lot similar to the 32-bit horizontal handheld from 25 years ago, as the new gadget revealed by CEO Arthur Zhang at a livestream event is called the KONKR Pocket Advance. At the event, Zhang said, “The familiar silhouettes, unique button layouts, and exceptional control experiences together form the most precious memories of the golden age of gaming for a generation of players.”

It has a similar wide-body design language to the GBA for nostalgia and playing retro games in a 3:2 aspect ratio. However, the LCD display on this one is a little bigger, measuring 3.5 inches (compared to the 2.9-inch on the GBA) with an upgraded resolution of 960 x 640 (240×160) on the original. This means the original titles meant for the Game Boy Advance can be played with 4x pixel scaling, sans any distortion or artifacts during gameplay. The Shell of the handheld also gets a slight bump up to 5.96 x 3.24 x 0.87 inches, and weighs 224 grams as compared to the 140-gram GBA.

Pretty obviously, the handheld debuting decades after the Game Boy Advance is destined to have other upgrades as well. The KONKR Pocket Advance gets a full spectrum of ABXY buttons, extra shoulder clickers, and Menu buttons for better navigation. Other hardware additions come in the form of Wi-Fi 5.0, Bluetooth compatibility, a USB-C port, and a microSD card expansion slot. The retro nostalgia flows into the volume adjustment wheel and the inclusion of a 3.5 mm headphone jack. According to AYANEO, the handheld  isn’t just a replica from the past; rather, it “integrates modern product concepts and manufacturing techniques to breathe new life into retro aesthetics.”

There is no word yet about the other specifications like the processor or the battery configuration, nor the pricing and availability. That said, we should hear soon regarding those details from the maker. The only thing revealed so far is the two-color options: navy blue and coral orange, which look similar to the classic indigo and the spice orange version, respectively. We just hope that AYANEO produces a substantial number of the devices, as the Pocket Micro 2 released a couple of months ago sold out in mere minutes.

This NASA-inspired Kojima Watch lets you wear Ludens’ futuristic vision on your wrist

NASA-inspired timepieces have always been hot property for astronomy fanatics and watch collectors alike. The minimalist Nova Watch, geeky  NASA Artemis Watch 2.0, and the ultra-exclusive Amida watches prove it, all right. Now, Anicorn Watches has unveiled another space-themed creation that channels the spirit of interstellar exploration through its collaboration with Kojima Productions.

According to Anicorn, the timepiece captures the essence of Hideo Kojima’s iconic Ludens character. Conceived by the legendary artist Yoji Shinkawa, Ludens is imagined as an astronaut venturing into the digital universe, symbolizing the studio’s philosophy of exploring the unknown through creativity. Described by the watchmaker as a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration, the Space Ludens transforms that futuristic vision into a collectible mechanical watch.

The NASA “worm” logo serves as one of the defining visual elements, reinforcing the idea of “bringing fun into the unknown universe.” Housed in a 42 mm 316L stainless steel case with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, the watch embraces an industrial aesthetic inspired by the Ludens EVA Creative Suit. Four exposed screws on the bezel echo the suit’s structural details, while the monochrome dial is accented with subtle futuristic graphics that stay true to Kojima Productions’ signature visual language. Super-LumiNova-coated hands and hour markers ensure the watch remains easy to read after dark without compromising its clean appearance.

Powering the Space Ludens is the dependable Miyota 8215 automatic movement with 21 jewels and a beat rate of 21,600 vibrations per hour. A transparent exhibition caseback reveals the movement in action, giving enthusiasts a glimpse of the mechanics behind the design. The watch also offers 50-meter water resistance, making it practical enough for everyday wear despite its collector-focused appeal.

Comfort hasn’t been overlooked either. The timepiece comes paired with a durable black FKM rubber strap that complements the rugged case while providing a secure fit for daily use. Each watch is individually numbered and presented in custom collector packaging that celebrates the collaboration between Anicorn and Kojima Productions.

For enthusiasts seeking an even more exclusive offering, Anicorn also introduced the Space Ludens with Ludens Mask VIP edition limited to just 100 units. In addition to the watch, the premium set includes a detailed Ludens mask display piece presented in a collector-grade package, turning the release into a display-worthy tribute to one of gaming’s most recognizable creative icons. Priced at $1,540, the rare edition is without doubt “EVA Creative Suit on the wrist” for enthusiasts to own.

Rogbid SpinR is a rugged, budget-friendly smartwatch with optical scroll wheel for navigation

Rogbid believes traditional crowns are so dead. The watches now need mouse-style scroll wheels because, why not? If you think that’s a good idea, and want to give yourself a head start on the design idea without committing too much on the price front, check out the Rogbid SpinR – a budget-friendly smartwatch with rugged features and an optical scroll wheel for navigation.

SpinR is an entry-level smartwatch. Rogbid has priced it at a very affordable $49.99. But what you get for the price – minus onboard GPS – is pretty noteworthy. First up, you have the metal case of the watch, which is made from zinc alloy and features a vacuum-plated finish. Offered in two colors – black and orange- the watch feels quite premium on the wrist. Despite the price and material usage, it’s not one of those chunky watches. It’s smart enough to go from work to gym, and anywhere else your adventure may take you.

The case, however, is not small in any way. It measures 51 mm diagonally and is 13.4 mm at the thickest point. As noted, the main highlight of the SpinR is not its case. It’s that optical scroller built into the side crown. A jewel on the large case, the optical scroll wheel functions somewhat like the crown on the Apple Watch – for navigation. You can navigate the menu, adjust settings, and control apps with the scroll wheel without touching the screen at any time. This can be particularly helpful when you have sweaty hands or your fingers are covered in chip crumbs.

According to the company, to simplify the interactions, the scroll wheel uses light to register scrolling movement when you are changing the volume, scrolling through your music library, or increasing the flashlight intensity. The process of the wheel’s functioning is pretty similar to that found in gaming mice.

Besides the innovative wheel for navigation, the Rogbid SpinR smartwatch wears a 1.7-inch display. It is unclear whether its LCD or AMOLED panel, but what we do know for certain is that it features a 360 x 360-pixel resolution. The watch draws power from a 7074 A7 chipset with 128 MB of flash storage and comes with some standard smartwatch features such as heart rate tracking and a pedometer. What the SpinR misses is built-in GPS. For precise location tracking, therefore, the watch featuring Bluetooth 5.4 will rely on the paired phone.

You want the smartwatch you own to work for a few days without requiring a recharge. The Rogbid SpinR could be one such offering with its 1100 mAh battery, which the company claims has 100-plus days of standby time. In real-world usage, of course, it’s going to be way less, but with the magnetic charging, it will give you a quick way to refuel if you’re caught up running out of power on the go. SpinR has a plastic caseback and comes paired with a silicone strap. The watch is rated IPX8 and features 30-meter water resistance.

ASUS ROG NUC 16 Edition 20 brings RTX 5090 gaming power to compact 3L desktop

Asus has come a long way since the 2nd of April 1989. By that count, it’s only been two decades for ROG’s existence. Arguably the most inspiring, though. Now into its 20th anniversary celebration, the Republic of Games (ROG) as we know it is innovating further with the gaming frontier it has dominated all this while.

To commemorate the monumental 20th anniversary, ROG is giving gamers and AI generation requiring demanding infrastructure a high-performance computing device: the ROG NUC 16 Edition 20. Ever since ASUS took over the Intel NUC, ROG has worked its magic with it, and now it’s elevating that to the next level with the most powerful gaming-focused NUC it has ever manufactured.

The commemorative ROG NUC 16 Edition 20 is created to celebrate 20 years of ASUS’s Republic of Gamers. Of course, like everything else ROG has delivered, this one gains first attention with the enticing aesthetics, but the company says it’s the powerful innards and the use of colors that make this a “testament to an enduring legacy.”

The mini PC has a compact form factor, which comes with a removable stand to use the device in vertical or horizontal orientations. Created to be an ultimate system for gamers and creators, the NUC 16 Edition 20 runs on an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, which can provide the desired performance. It is laid out in a 3-liter chassis for a compact look and feel, and it features a semi-transparent exterior with really plus detailing with gold accents.

The design is sublime and exudes brilliance in black, red, and gold accents. But the looks are only part of this anniversary edition system. For hardcore gamers, who will want to put looks second, ROG has tailored the desktop to dissipate up to 175W for sustained performance. This will allow it to run at high speed for a long time without slowing down or overheating. To keep the system cool, it features three fans and a dual vapor chamber, which ROG confirms is capable of 21% better thermal performance.

The ROG NUC 16 Edition 20 is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor 290HX Plus, which is paired with up to 128GB of dual-channel DDR5-6400 memory and a PCIe 5.0 SSD for ultra-fast load times. The powerful storage can handle almost all types of heavy gameplay and AI graphics rendering. Early reviewers suggest the system is powerful in handling “high-FPS gaming, AI tasks, and demanding creator workflows.”

Streaming and gaming can be lag-free only with the best possible connectivity options. ROG says its system supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 for fast and stable connectivity and also features a Thunderbolt 4 port along with the other usual connectivity options like HDMI and LAN ports. Expectedly, all this power and performance doesn’t come cheap. ROG NUC 16 Edition 20 will set you back $6,999.

Mercedes’ New G-Wagon convertible lets you enjoy open-air luxury without giving up off-road power

Mercedes-Benz fans last got a factory-built convertible G-Class in 2013, and after years without an open-top option, the German automaker appears ready to bring it back. The upcoming G-Class Cabriolet retains the SUV’s unmistakable boxy silhouette while introducing a folding fabric roof that gives the iconic off-roader a fresh sense of openness.

Based on the Mercedes-AMG G63, the four-door convertible preserves the rugged character of the standard SUV while adding a more lifestyle-oriented driving experience. The powered soft top folds away at the push of a button, stacking neatly behind the rear seats at roughly the height of the rear wheel arches. Unlike the earlier G-Class Convertible, which required owners to manually release roof latches before operating the top, the new system is fully automated for greater convenience.

Although Mercedes-Benz has yet to reveal complete specifications or an official launch timeline, prototype sightings and teaser footage offer a closer look at the engineering behind the transformation. Converting the G-Class into a cabriolet required substantial structural modifications, including a redesigned rear section and reinforced body to compensate for the removal of the fixed roof. Reports suggest the retractable roof mechanism alone consists of around 500 specially developed components.

The rear of the SUV also receives thoughtful revisions to accommodate the convertible layout. The signature spare wheel carrier remains, but its cover has been redesigned with an integrated high-mounted brake light. The rear pillars have a more angular profile than previous convertible G-Class models, giving the SUV a cleaner and more contemporary appearance while maintaining its instantly recognizable design language.

Performance is expected to remain unchanged from the AMG G63. The convertible is likely to be powered by the familiar 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 577 horsepower, paired with Mercedes-AMG’s all-wheel-drive system. That means buyers should still get the same blend of high-performance road manners and formidable off-road capability that has defined the modern G-Class.

The return of the G-Class Cabriolet is significant because Mercedes-Benz has largely focused on expanding its SUV lineup through new powertrains and special editions rather than introducing entirely new body styles. By reviving the open-top G-Wagon, the company is revisiting one of the model’s most distinctive variants while combining classic styling with modern engineering and convenience.

Whether cruising coastal roads or tackling rough terrain, the G-Class Cabriolet promises to deliver the unmistakable presence of the G-Wagon with the added appeal of open-air driving. More details, including pricing, production numbers, and availability, are expected to be announced closer to its official debut.

Storyteller’s new GXV Wild is built for luxury off-grid camping without compromise

Storyteller Overland added Global Expedition Vehicles (GXV) under its umbrella in 2022. The tale for the two adventure camper and overland rig manufacturers, respectively, has been around about on the same lines. Continuing in a combined form factor now, the new 2027 GXV Wild is introduced to upscale the idea of overland living from Storyteller’s lens.

The adventure truck is based on the Ram 3500 single-cab chassis. That leaves the Wild catering to only a couple on the road. It can, we will learn later how, accommodate up to four people at camp. But what’s actually fascinating about the truck, beyond the overlanding compatibility and off-grid preparedness, is how the interior is designed to permit a congenial harmony between the inside and outside.

Built on the Ram chassis, which draws power from a 6.4L HEMI V8 engine delivering 375 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque, you already have a capable machine. To keep it performing at its best, Storyteller has kept it lightweight but tweaked it to add an AEV suspension kit with a 3-in lift and forged-aluminum wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. The camper part is made using laminated insulated fiberglass walls and floor. The roof uses insulated panels, and windows feature dual panes (again for better insulation), ensuring year-round operability.

With the modifications to the chassis, the rig – measuring 23 feet long and 11.3 feet high – has a payload capacity of 1,000 lbs and a 14,000-lb GVWR. The Stroyteller GXV Wild can also tow up to 10,000 lb. if you have additional cargo to cargo, in the FlipOut Deck. Some of the truck campers this size we have seen compromise with bathroom space, but that’s the difference with the Wild. It has a dedicated bathroom, next to the alcove. It features a cassette toilet, sink, and a shower that gets water from the 189 L fresh tank and also has a 76 L gray water tank onboard.

Opposite the bathroom, you have the kitchen with a portable induction cooker, a stainless steel sink, and a flip-up counter space extension. 116-L Vitrifrigo fridge/freezer, microwave and other appliances are aligned next to the convertible four-seat dinette with leather seating. When you want a little more space, the FlipOut Deck drops down and opens up your camp. On the far side is the main bed in the cabover loft. Together with the convertible dinette bed, you can have a sleeping space for four people in the Wild.

GXV Wild maintains off-grid convenience with the 400W of solar panels (expandable up to 800W), 12-kWh electrical system, and a 4,500W inverter. For all-season convenience, the insulated interior is furnished with a 13.5K-BTU rooftop air conditioner and a 14K-BTU hydronic heating system. Storyteller Overland is planning to sell the 2027 GXV Wild starting at $299,898. What do you think?

This One-Wheel robot could patrol your property while you stay away

Most security robots are designed like small autonomous cars, with a bulky body and enough room for all the fancy tech. 1ROLLO, however, adapts a radically different approach. Developed by Estonian startup Rollo Robotics, this autonomous security robot balances on a single large wheel, turning an unusual piece of robotics into a practical patrol machine for large properties.

The 1ROLLO is built around a vertically oriented spinning flywheel housed inside its main wheel. Gyroscopic forces help the bot remain upright while moving, while the internal mechanism allows it to lean and change direction. The result is a remarkably narrow robot that can move independently through spaces that might be less accessible to larger wheeled security platforms.

Despite its unconventional appearance, the 1ROLLO surveillance robot is designed for serious security work. Its autonomous navigation system combines 360-degree computer vision with RTK GNSS positioning, allowing the robot to follow mapped patrol routes while navigating around obstacles. It can detect movement and objects, record video, recognize license plates, and monitor for potentially dangerous gases, including carbon monoxide. The idea is to shift routine security patrols from people to machines without completely removing human oversight. This is estimated to save up to 80 percent of the cost that would otherwise be incurred using manual methods.

When the robot detects something unusual, it can alert a remote operator over 4G, 5G, or Wi-Fi. The operator can then access a live video feed, speak to people near the robot using its microphone and speaker, or dispatch a human guard if the situation requires intervention. A cloud-based management platform is intended to make the system scalable, allowing one operator to monitor multiple robots simultaneously. That could make the 1ROLLO particularly useful for expansive sites where continuously patrolling every corner would require significant manpower.

The robot measures approximately 60 x 60 x 140 centimeters and weighs around 35 kilograms according to the company’s specifications, while more recent reporting has described a 45-kilogram version with a higher top speed of up to 30 km/h. The company has also stated a battery runtime of up to eight hours, after which the robot can autonomously return to a charging station. Its IP65-rated enclosure protects against dust and water jets, supporting outdoor operation.

Rollo Robotics sees potential applications across airports, data centers, industrial facilities, corporate campuses, manufacturing sites, hospitals, hotels, and critical infrastructure. The robot could also find a role in environments such as mining operations, construction sites, oil and gas facilities, and gated communities, where autonomous monitoring could complement existing security teams.

Rollo Robotics plans to offer the surveillance robot through a Robotics-as-a-Service model. Customers would pay for access to the system while receiving maintenance, software updates, support, and future hardware upgrades as part of the service. The 1ROLLO is still evolving, with the company working to improve its performance in challenging weather and busy environments. Commercial availability is expected in 2027, but its single-wheel architecture already makes it an intriguing alternative to the increasingly familiar fleet of four-wheeled security robots.

What If Nothing Made an IEM for Audiophiles? This Community Concept Imagines One

Music lovers are gradually developing a deeper appreciation for in-ear monitors (IEMs) as they explore the world of personal audio. The Chi-Fi market, in particular, has grown into a crowded space filled with brands such as Moondrop, Truthear, Simgot, Kiwi Ears, ThieAudio, and FiiO. At the same time, established names including Sennheiser, Final Audio, Campfire Audio, Meze Audio, and Audio-Technica continue to attract listeners looking for detailed and analytical sound.

One thing I’ve noticed while following the IEM space is how often these products embrace transparent or semi-transparent shell designs. There is something visually appealing about being able to see the components inside, while the distinctive form immediately sets IEMs apart from the everyday wireless earbuds most people use. This design language also happens to align closely with Nothing’s visual identity, making the idea of a Nothing-branded IEM feel like a natural extension of the company’s existing audio lineup.

The concept in question comes from the Nothing Community, where a member shared renders imagining what an IEM designed by Nothing could look like. The idea explores a familiar IEM silhouette, but reinterprets it through the brand’s signature transparent aesthetic and restrained use of color. It is not a radical departure from the designs already seen across the IEM market, but the Nothing treatment gives the concept a distinct character that would likely appeal to fans of the brand.

The renders bring to mind the visual language of Nothing’s earlier audio products, particularly the transparent approach associated with the Ear (1). Instead of hiding the internal components behind an opaque shell, the concept makes them part of the visual experience. A transparent finish could also work particularly well with an IEM, where the intricate internal arrangement is often part of what makes these products interesting to audio enthusiasts.

The community response suggests that the concept has some room for further exploration. One commenter specifically expressed interest in seeing a black and transparent version, while another asked what specifications people would want from such a product. Those reactions highlight an interesting possibility: a Nothing IEM could potentially bridge the gap between the company’s design-focused consumer electronics and the increasingly popular world of enthusiast audio.

For now, this remains a community-created concept rather than an official Nothing product. Still, it is an intriguing exercise in imagining how the company’s transparent design philosophy could translate into a more enthusiast-oriented audio product. With Nothing already established in the personal audio space, the idea of a dedicated wired IEM does not feel entirely out of place.

Nike launches Air Zoom Hyperslide, pair of slip-ons that heat and massage your feet

In 2024, Nike and Hyperice got together for a pair of boots that used air compression to massage athletes’ feet. Now, the two stalwarts in their own domains have joined forces again to release Nike Air Zoom Hyperslide – a pair of slides that could easily be the most innovative iteration of recovery slides ever made. Designed to heat and massage your feet after a long day’s work or activity, it uses Hyperice’s recovery technology with Nike Air Zoom cushioning.

The combination makes the slides ultra-comfy to wear after a tiresome day and increasingly relaxing for the feet post-workout. This convenience is made possible with the magnetically connected Hyperslide Pod, which resides in the adjustable, wide coverage midfoot strap of the slide. The pod is removable, but when it’s attached to the slide, it “provides targeted Hyperice heat and vibration massage across the top of the foot,” Nike confirms.

The heat therapy and vibration massage help reduce tension and relax the feet after strenuous training, a game of football, or a morning run. The comfort is, however, enhanced by the Air Zoom cushioning spanning the entire length of the footwear. The soft proprietary sole provides responsive comfort for everyday wear, which adds to the primary feature of heat and massage.

The Nike Air Zoom Hyperslide is created in two colors: Black and Beige. Despite the simplicity of the colors, the slides look distinct in their monochromatic finish. The silhouette is smooth and has a high-end construction feel to it, which revolves around the mounting hub for the magnetic pod.

The pod sitting at the top of the foot is the main aspect of the slide’s recovery capability. It is created to provide three levels of targeted heat to each foot, reaching 117 degrees Fahrenheit, or 47 degrees Celsius. The slides also create three levels of vibrations for a 15-minute recovery cycle. The pod is rechargeable and features a USB-C port for fast charging.

The levels of heat and vibration can be customized from the pod on the slides, or via the Hyperice app. For those, like me, who are often confused with the settings, the Air Zoom Hyperslide features onboard indicator lights signalling heat, vibration, or battery level. The slides are designed using feedback from athletes and are now being hailed for their soft cushioning, heat, and vibration working in tandem for post-workout recovery.

If you’re interested, we’ve learned that the Nike Air Zoom Hyperslide will be available globally starting September 29, 2026. The information is not official, but sources suggest the slides created to heat and massage your feet would cost $250.
