Pringles collaborates with Crocs for unique footwear, accessories, new flavor

I’m one of those people who will probably never wear a pair of Crocs (it’s a preference thing). But, I will probably always be interested as to what brand they will collaborate with next. We’ve seen some pretty interesting (weird) partnerships with Fruit Loops, 7-Eleven, General Mills ceereals, and even high-end fashion brand Balenciaga. So we’re not really surprised if they partner with the most unlikely brands, particularly food products. If you’re a couch potato, then this latest special edition Crocs are for you.

Designer: Crocs

The Pringles x Crocs collection is the first time that the former is going into the footwear business with this collaboration with the latter. Not only do you get three different Pringles-inspired footwear designs, there is also a new limited-edition Crocs-inspired Pringles flavor: watermelon chili lime (which is apparently a fusion of sweet, spicy, and tangy) And of course, for those who collect those cutsey charms you can attach to your Crocs, there are Pringles-themed Jibbitz charms.

If you want to bring your Pringles snacks around but you don’t have a bag or even a pocket, the Pringles x Crocs Classic Crush Boot has a custom holster where you can store the grab and go variant of your favorite potato snack. The boots has the classic Pringles-red on top and a “stacked crisp heel”. If you’re more into the classic, you have the Pringles x Crocs Classic Clogs which has Mr. P’s signature mustache as the strap and four mix and match colors (red and orange, blue and green).

Probably if I was forced to wear a pair of Crocs, their sliders would be my choice. There is also a Pringles x Crocs Classic Slides which sports the retro black-and-white Mr. P design, still with his styling mustache. There are also five Jibbitz charms to collect: Mr. P with a red bowtie, a 3D winking Mr. P, a can of Pringles Original and a can of Pringles Sour Cream & Onion, and a minimalist Pringles crisp. If you’re a fan of either brands, then this is your sign to get some of these to add to your collection.

Nike is pushing the ‘Air’ to make a difference in the athletes’ stride at the Paris Olympics and beyond

While athletes around the globe are preparing to compete at the Paris Olympics this year, there is one company that is pushing “Air” to make a difference in the competitor’s stride. We are talking about Nike which is going futuristic with the new Blueprint Pack, its upcoming set of sneakers that will thrive on the boundless properties of its Air cushioning for the athlete’s foot.

When it comes to long-distance runners’ preference for shoes, Nike is the name to reckon with. This is not only because of the brand name and robust marketing but also because the Swoosh brand has, over the years, perfected the comfort for enhancing the runner’s performance. With the new list of 13 products that will be released in time for the Summer Olympics in Paris, Nike is also targeting a new range of sports, including track, basketball, football, and even lifestyle footwear.

Designer: Nike

Besides, Nike is also showcasing A.I.R (Adaptive Intelligence Responsive) concept footwear in Paris, planned in collaboration with champions of their repute including Eliud Kipchoge, Kylian Mbappé, and Sha’carri Richardson and more. These never-seen and idealized designs are a glimpse of the future of sports shoes meant to revolutionize how athletes train and compete. The interesting aspect of these prototypes, beyond their futuristic design, is that they will include sensors to analyze data that would allow the athletes to optimize their performance while providing support and comfort.

In the ambitious move to rework the Air midsole, which is already versatile and comforting, Nike is working more precisely with athletes’ requirements to bring it to every category of footwear possible. The dynamic Nike Air unit is the focus of the company’s designs for the summer, which is a nod to the brand cofounder Bill Bowerman and his obsession to make the best shoes for athletic performance.

Based on the designs envisioned by Bowerman, Nike is using cutting-edge technologies to imagine those sketches to create the Blueprint Pack that closes the gap between sports science, design, and manufacturing. To that accord, the Nike Blueprint Pack will, when it is released on July 3, feature the best of Air innovations in multiple ranges of shoes including the Pegasus Premium, which was the first running footwear with a visible Air Zoom unit.

Besides, the inventive designs have been envisioned for the Nike Victory 2, Nike Maxfly 2 for the runners; the G.T. Hustle 3 for the basketball fans, and the 2024 Nike Mercurial football boot. These shoes, with the new Air cushioning approach, will make their presence felt at the Olympics, while Nike informs, alongside the Blueprint Pack, it could release an energy-driving colorway pack before the games. However, there is no word from Nike on when or if the A.I.R prototypes will be released to the public.

Bibi Bazz collection uses upcycled trainers for eco-friendly, fashionable bags

I personally know some people who go through sneakers and trainers like they go through toilet paper. Okay that maybe an exaggeration but there are a lot of collectors and wearers out there who do spend a lot on this kind of footwear and dispose of their old ones in a not so sustainable manner. So when we see designers and brands that recycle or upcycle these things as part of sustainable fashion, we pay attention and if we can afford it, we support them. If you also like owning limited edition pieces, then this new collection may be something you’d like to add to your closet.

Designer: Bibi Bazz

Bibi Bazz is a brand that focuses on upcycling and their Genesis Collection brings handcrafted bags made from damaged or deadstock trainers. This is just the first drop in their collection and is made up of limited edition shoulder bags and crossbody styles that can make you look like an eco-friendly rockstar. Aside from the different colors and textures, these bags also come with denim shoulder straps for a chic look. They also have interior pouches if you need to secure some small items.

The Fresh Start Trainer cross body bag uses deadstock Puma trainers in white and black colors. The Emerge Trainer Bag is a shoulder bag using a blue base with pink details and a denim strap as well. If you want something with bolder colors, the Rebirth Trainer is a crossbody bag with blue and neon orange hues with white accents. Meanwhile, the Revive Trainer is a crossbody bag with a red base and black patterns. If you’re more adventurous in your color palette, you can get the Renewal Trainer bag with its mix of neon lime, black, and green colors or the Pioneer Trainer Bag with its neon orange, pink, and yellow hues.

The bags from the Genesis Collection has a price range of £70-100. They’re in fact the first items available for the launch of Bibi Bazz’ online store. Even though the model on their website is a woman, the bags “transcend gender” and are meant to not only be eco-friendly but also inclusive. Since there are only limited items available, you might want to buy your upcycled trainer bags now.

These pair of sneakers can be fully customized to the needs of growing kids

For growing kids having a brand new pair of shoes can be a nightmare in just a year as their feet grow. Sure, they can get a new pair even though the last one is fairly good to use, but there are environmental impacts to this if that concerns you. A pair can generate up to 30 pounds of CO2 emissions which is something you’d want to avoid at all cost.

The 4Steps 3D-Printed sneakers concept by Michele Di Carlo wants to get over the issue of growing kids and piles of shoes that end up in landfills every year. In works ever since 2017, the project wants to help address the problem of eco-sustainability in the footwear industry. The use of a 3D printer to make a pair further lessens the environmental impact.

Designer: Michele Di Carlo

The target audience for this resizable pair of sneakers weighing 123 grams is kids aged between 6 and 14 who can use the same shoe for almost five years (that’s if they use them with care) before needing a new one. Each separate part of the shoe can be replaced for easy recycling and repair if needed. The use of molded parts having a honeycomb structure adds to the lightweight aesthetics of the pair. Michele has created a prototype of the sneakers using Filafex filament, a type of thermoplastic polyurethane known for its softness and durability.

The level of customization is not just restricted to size, the kids can choose to replace the style of uppers and sides, and also change the color or personalize them with logos or characters. Changing the size or replacing new customizable sections is as easy as taking them apart and assembling the pair again. The adjustable sneakers come with retractable heels to fit the new shoe size and all the pieces can be stringed back easily under the supervision of an adult.

4Steps sneakers are held together with the elastic strings and the adjustments can be made by unclipping and then clipping these strings back. For the summertime, the shoes have a breathable mesh while for the winter season, a layer of insulation can be put. For now, the cool sneakers are in the concept and prototyping phase, and we hope to see them as a real product soon.

These Quirky Clothes Hangers That Add A Touch of Fun and Function To Your Wardrobe

Have you ever glanced at your closet and thought, “How can something as simple as a hanger be personal to me?”, since personalizing products in the fashion industry is anyway a trend for the elite. That’s precisely the question ‘HANG / WE’ seeks to answer. It seeks to challenge this notion by infusing individuality and storytelling into the very object that holds our garments. It delves deep into the essence of human connection and personal expression through a series of creatively designed clothes hangers.

Designers: Yun A Jang, Nahyun KimJongWon KimSEUNGMIN LEE, and HWANJONG CHOI,

The core philosophy of ‘HANG / WE’ revolves around the idea that traditional hangers contradict the emphasis on individuality in clothing. In response, the designers set out to encapsulate the stories of five distinct individuals through their respective hangers. Each hanger serves as a canvas, revealing the unique personalities of its users within the confines of established norms. This endeavor mirrors our society’s yearning for coexistence and the ideal of a harmonious community.

The name, ‘HANG / WE,’ carries profound symbolism. It juxtaposes ‘WE’ as the denominator against ‘HANG’ as the numerator, signifying the importance of collective identity and shared experiences. Through the act of hanging, the designers aim to express a fragment of our lives, highlighting the interconnectedness of humanity.

In their design process, the team at ‘HANG / WE’ resonates with the principle of “form follows function,” prioritizing the usefulness of their creations. But they also think it’s essential for their creations to make people feel something deeper. This reminds me of what design expert Hartmut Esslinger once said about how form should occasionally follow emotion too.

So, even though the stuff they make might not look like what you’d expect and don’t turn out to be conventionally ‘aesthetic’, it’s because they want you to have a special connection with it. These hangers, for example. They’re not like regular ones, but that quirky design makes them cool. Each hanger tells a story about the person who uses it, showing off their unique style. So, even though their things might seem a bit different, they’re all about making you feel something special when you use them. And that’s what makes them stand out.

These stories are more important than just looking nice. While looking good is common, things that have a story behind them are special. They’re like a way to tell stories and connect with others. The best designs happen when being useful also makes people feel something. That’s why the hangers from ‘HANG / WE’ are so cool. They’re not just for hanging clothes; they’re for making people feel something too. And that’s what makes them special.

In line with this ethos, each hanger in the ‘HANG / WE’ collection is meticulously crafted to elicit a specific emotional resonance.

Origami-inspired Bluetooth mouse turns a mundane device into a fashion statement

As odd and unnatural as the computer mouse might be, it has become the standard input device second only to the keyboard. For decades, however, the design of the mouse has changed very little except when modified in the name of ergonomics. There has been a recent spate of concepts that try to breathe new life into mouse design, but many of those remain in the conceptual realm only. This peculiar design almost looks like one of those, but it’s surprisingly a product you can really get your hands on, figuratively and literally. It’s definitely unlike any Bluetooth mouse you’ve ever laid eyes on because when it’s not in use, it can fold so perfectly flat that you can even slip it into your pocket and make it look like a part of your fashionable attire.

Designer: Horace Lam

We’ve actually seen quite a few mice that can fold or lay completely flat, but few have ever made it into production because of the surprising complexity of mouse design. Origami, the ancient Japanese art of paper folding, might be great for paper, but not for something that needs to withstand the wear and tear of daily use, not to mention being carried around in bags or even pockets. That’s the rather impressive feat that the myAir.0 OriMouse claims to have achieved, offering a wireless mouse that is flat, functional, and fashionable.

In its flat and deactivated state, the OriMouse has a “V” shape with a faceted surface. Covered in vegan leather or textile, it doesn’t even look anything like a mouse. Weighing only 40g and less than 5mm thin, it looks and feels more like an art object that you carry in your pocket or in your bag. But with a simple pinching gesture that joins the two divergent ends together, the OriMouse rises to the occasion, literally, to become an essential tool for productivity.

Using the same principles that give origami designs innate stability, this foldable mouse can withstand a lot of pressure from your hand without buckling from the weight. At the same time, however, a simple push at a specific and strategic spot disengages the two neodymium magnets and collapses the structure back to its flat state. In addition to this shape-shifting trick, the OriMouse promises a more ergonomic design thanks to the polygonal structure inspired by the folds and facets of an origami object.

Although the various options available make use of textured materials to give the mouse an even more tactile experience, the OriMouse’s foldable design also lends itself perfectly to more artistic expressions. In fact, one model even has a graffiti graphic printed on its surface, and it’s not hard to imagine branding opportunities for such a design. Granted, the actual ergonomics of such a mouse will probably be a matter of debate, but if you are looking for a highly portable Bluetooth mouse, it won’t hurt to take a hard look at something that’s also so unique and beautiful that you will easily become the envy of the crowd around you.

BMW uses 3D printing for German bobsleigh team’s footwear

Most sports are dictated by the skill and prowess of the athletes competing but there are also some sports where the sportswear and footwear that they wear can contribute to how they perform. But not all of these sports have customizable or flexible footwear to help the athletes out. Bobsleigh is one such sport and with the Winter Olympics a year away, Germany is partnering with BMW to give their team better footwear to help them compete at the top level.

Designer: BMW

The BMW Group is the technology partner of the German Bobsleigh, Luge, and Skeleton Federatin (BSD) and they have come up with customizable spiked shoes for the bobsleigh team using the power of 3D printing. Regular bobsleigh footwear have defined rows of nails attached to the toe area but these are not replaceable or moveable. Based on track and field shoes, which are more flexible, they came up with threads for screw spikes which are used to attach spike plates on which spike nails can be distributed.

This means that the spikes can be adjusted to a large selection of shoe styles, sizes, and other aspects to make them more comfortable and suitable for the athletes’ needs. You can also adjust the material and geometry of the plates and the placement of the spike nails, giving better acceleration according to the power transmission on the ice. And since 3D printing is used, they get to be more flexible and test out the spikes and make adjustments, without having to spend a fortune and spend so much time manufacturing.

They were able to test out the spike plates during the Bobsleigh World Cup (which ends later this month) and so far, they were able to get positive feedback from the athletes that they made them for. Of course there are still changes that need to be made but they do have 11 months to go for it before the Winter Olympics in February 2025. We’ll also see by then what effect these spikes have on the German team’s performance.

Coperni’s Air Swipe Bag may be closest to “as light as air” saying

When they say something is as “light as air”, it is not meant to be taken literally most of the time. But there are indeed some materials now that can be considered almost as light as air or at least the lightest solid material that we can find. One example is NASA’s nanomaterial silica aerogel which they used in their first stardust mission. It has been used in things like thermal insulation, biomedical applications, and some experimentations. But there’s apparently another use for it and that’s for fashion and (sort of) functionality.

Designer: Coperni

Paris-based accessories brand Coperni wanted to create a bag that is very, very light but also would look like it has frozen smoke trapped inside its little space. And they were able to do so with the Air Swipe Bag hiwch they unveiled at the FW24 show. This particular look is made from aerogel since the process it goes through gives it that transparent, smoky color, not to mention how light but non-fragile it is.

It may seem to look like a fragile bag because of its size and its transparency but the material can actually withstand extreme heat (up to 1,200 degrees celsius) and pressure (up to 4000 times its weight). There is a reason after all why NASA brought this to space. The bag also uses 1% glass reinforcement so you might want to be careful where you swing that bag at.

The Air Swipe Bag doesn’t seem to be the most fashionable but it is indeed interesting looking. My main issue is that it’s a tiny bag that may actually only fit my phone in it and barely at that. As a big bag carrier that has a ton of bags inside the bag, I’m wondering if something as light as this could actually work in a bigger size as well.
