Kohler Unveils A Faucet So Eye-catching, You Won’t Stop Washing Your Hands

Imagine a faucet that’s not just functional, but a sculptural centerpiece in your bathroom. The Kohler x SR-A Formation 01 aims to do just that. This limited-edition faucet is a collaboration between Kohler, a renowned name in kitchen and bath design, and Dr. Samuel Ross, an innovator known for pushing the boundaries of material science. The form combines the appeal of avant-garde architecture and automotive design, with an edgy single-piece aesthetic that zigzags to defy expectation and the boring archetype of organic forms seen in bathroom design.

Designers: Kohler & SR-A

The Formation 01 stands out with its ultra-modern design. Crafted from Neolast, a groundbreaking material developed by Kohler, the faucet boasts clean lines and a unique, almost organic form. This innovative material allows for a wider range of shapes and colors compared to traditional faucet materials, making the Formation 01 a true conversation starter. The faucet is complemented by an escutcheon plate made from Kohler’s signature cast iron, providing a touch of timeless elegance that grounds the futuristic design.

The faucet’s design allows for precise water delivery even through its sharp angles, thanks to meticulous pressure control. The rocker-style handle adds to the faucet’s modern aesthetic while offering a smooth and intuitive user experience. The faucet comes in a striking “Haptic Orange” hue, a nod to Dr. Ross’s signature color. This unique splash of orange creates a visually captivating element in your bathroom, making a bold statement without appearing ostentatious.

The Kohler x SR-A Formation 01 offers a glimpse into the future of bathroom design (a future that’s different from the one with e-ink toilets as seen at Kohler’s booth this year at CES 2024.) It seamlessly blends innovative materials with cutting-edge engineering to create a product that’s both beautiful and functional. With its limited-edition status and bold design, the Formation 01 is a perfect choice for those who want a bathroom that reflects their unique style and appreciation for truly modern design.

10 Best Compact Lighting Designs That Wont Occupy Precious Real Estate On Your Desk & Tables

I love a well-designed and functional lighting design with some aesthetic value. But besides these three holy grails, it also helps if the light is compact and doesn’t occupy too much precious real estate on your desk, bedside table, or wherever we place it. Besides that, a well-designed lighting fixture should not only have the ability to illuminate any living space but also add that extra oomph factor! I mean, of course, we need them to see in the dark, but as highly functional as they should be, a lighting fixture also needs to be aesthetically pleasing, adding an attractive and visually soothing element to your home or office space. 3. Amber Crystal Light

Named Amber Crystal Light, this little lighting design by Gingko looks like a fortune-telling orb that is placed on a wooden base. Intricate and pretty little designs have been etched onto the center of the glass orb, and once the light is switched on, the art scatters light in various directions, creating a glowing display that looks like visual magic.

Why is it noteworthy?

The light features five different artworks within the orb itself – galaxy, dandelion, solar system, Saturn, and a motif of Earth as a globe. The various motifs represent different emotions like hope, curiosity, serenity, and a genuine love for space, science, and nature.

What we like

  • The light provides up to 16 hours of illumination with pretty designs

What we dislike

  • Should be kept away from kids and pets, as it seems to be fragile and easily breakable

4. Lari Mini Lamp

Designed by Danish design brand Karakter, the Lari Mini Lamp is a miniature and renewed version of a lamp that was originally created by the late Italian architect and sculptor Angelo Mangiarotti in 1978. This adorable mini lamp features a rounded-square silhouette, with a ribbed central section made from hand-blown glass.

Why is it noteworthy?

The beautiful lamp is crafted from hand-blown glass, and it has quite a unique and distinctive shape that instantly grabs attention. It is made up of a glass volume of two bulbs that emit a warm white glow. The bulbs are placed against a black oval-shaped base, which creates an interesting piece.

What we like

  • Multifunctional light design that also functions as a bookend

What we dislike

8. Skyview

Named Skyview, these little lamps can be used for light therapy, which also manages to look quite pleasing. The lamps are designed by Bio by “documented scientific research”, which means the lamps can simulate exposure to sunlight in the comfort of your home.

Why is it noteworthy?

The lamps can simulate sunshine in your home, even if the sun is not out. They’re well-designed lamp designs that naturally merge with your home, also ensuring that they don’t look out of place in your living room, bedroom, or home office.

It not only illuminates your home but also takes you on a trip down memory lane!

Why is it noteworthy?

The lamp is made of a folded piece of aluminum, and it looks nothing like a lamp at first glance. It looks more like a sheet of metal that was folded diagonally to build an incomplete pyramid that could topple over any minute. However, the shape and fold of the design do provide a stable form.

What we like

  • Adds a special nighttime atmosphere to your room

What we dislike

  • Doesn’t look like a lamp, so may be mistaken as a toy by children

What we like

  • Emits an ambient and seductive glow

What we dislike

  • Looks quite fragile, so must be handled with care

Forget the iPad Pro… This Windows Tablet with a 13″ 2K screen and a Wacom Stylus is perfect for digital creators

Under most normal circumstances, I wouldn’t be talking smack about the iPad Pro like this… but the LincStudio S1 Tablet offers some distinct advantages over its Apple-based counterpart. It’s bigger, has a 2K touchscreen with multitouch input, also comes with a highly precise Wacom stylus, runs Windows on a 4-core Intel i7 processor, and lets you use a whole slew of desktop-based software and apps to create content. That means you can carry your existing PC workflow onto the LincStudio S1, use AI-based programs with your workflow, and even rely on the 12 customizable shortcut keys on either side to cruise through work. When all’s said and done, 65W charging comes in exceptionally handy, letting you quickly juice your tablet for another round of design iterations… because creativity never takes a holiday, right?

Designers: Xiaohui Li and Bernhard Geisen

Can’t use my favorite drawing software on iPad? Try LincStudio!

The perfect hybrid between a tablet and a laptop, the LincStudio S1 was designed keeping artists, 3D modelers, animators, designers, architects, or anyone in the creative profession in mind. Slim enough to fit into most laptop bags and weighing a paltry 1.1 kilograms, the LincStudio S1 comes with its own kickstand that lets you prop it up, giving you the freedom to use it in a variety of angles based on the kind of work you’re doing. A companion Wacom Shinonome stylus gives you precise control over your workflow, whether you’re sketching, reviewing detailed blueprints, or just taking notes, but if you do want to switch to a more traditional laptop-inspired typing experience, a keyboard connector at the bottom lets you snap on any keyboard, turning the LincStudio S1 into a makeshift laptop.

Wacom EMR Shinonome Series Pen

The problem with current tablets is that they get one crucial thing wrong – the operating system. A tablet isn’t supposed to be an enlarged phone, so the fact that it runs a version of a smartphone OS like Android or iPadOS just doesn’t make any sense. Where the LincStudio S1 differs is in recognizing this and giving creators the familiar Windows OS but in the avatar of a touchscreen tablet. The LincStudio S1’s 13-inch screen is perfect for sketching, editing, modeling, post-production, or any creative workflow, with support for multitouch that lets you interact with the Windows interface in a new way.

However, a tablet is only as good as the stylus it comes with, and the LincStudio S1 packs Wacom’s cutting-edge Shinonome EMR stylus. The stylus runs on electromagnetic resonance technology instead of capacitive technology, which gives it a winning combination of precision, responsiveness, and resolution over most standard styluses. Designed to be just as precise as Apple’s own Pencil, the Wacom Shinonome has 10-millisecond instant input (without parallax), comes with 4096 pressure levels, 450PPS resolution, and even has tilt support, making it a game-changer in illustration or sculpting apps.

Meanwhile, the tablet sports dedicated shortcut buttons on its sides, allowing you to assign macros/functions to them that are specific to each program. Sort of like a Wacom tablet, you can use these shortcuts to perform certain tasks, toggle between brushes (in Photoshop), and play with parameters like brush size, opacity, screen brightness, volume, etc. The shortcuts are laid out on both the left and right side, allowing for ambidextrous use along with the stylus.

The LincStudio S1 itself comes with a sizeable 13-inch display boasting a resolution of 2160×1440, a 100% sRGB gamut, 16.7 million colors, and a wide 178° viewing angle. It’s powered by an 11th-gen Intel i7 processor, has 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, and comes running Windows 11 Pro right out of the box. In keeping with the ambidextrous design, the tablet has dual speakers, along with thunderbolt USB-C ports on both the left and right side. There’s also a USB-A port on one side for plugging in wireless peripherals or flash storage, and a 3.5mm jack for good measure, letting you connect speakers or headphones to your S1.

The tablet starts at a heavily discounted $895, which includes the Wacom stylus along with a Windows 11 Pro subscription (and is also significantly larger than most other tablets). In contrast, Microsoft’s Surface Pro 9 has similar specs, but with a whopping $1700 price tag (and the Surface Slip Pen sold separately). Apple’s no different, with a sizeable $1200 price tag for the 256GB 12.9-inch model, but an extra $79 for the pencil, $299 for the Magic Keyboard, and the inability to run desktop programs. The iPad Pro also famously lacks a kickstand, which the LincStudio S1 proudly includes in its design, and while the iPad Pro maxes out at 20W of charging, the LincStudio offers 65W charging capabilities, letting you juice your battery much faster than the competition. Perfect for creatives looking to get more hands-on with their workflows, the LincStudio offers the best of both laptop and tablet worlds.

Swatch x Omega’s Moonphase Watch features a Bioceramic Case and a Familiar NASA Mascot

Space exploration continues to capture our imagination, and the world of watches is no exception. Swatch’s latest collaboration with Omega, the Bioceramic MoonSwatch Mission To The Moonphase, takes inspiration from the cosmos, offering a unique and playful twist on a classic timepiece.

Designers: Swatch & Omega

The all-white aesthetic evokes the brilliance of a full moon. But the real innovation lies in the combination of a chronograph function, a first for the MoonSwatch line, and a moon phase display. This ingenious pairing allows you to track both earthly time and the lunar cycle on your wrist.

Adding a touch of whimsy to this sophisticated timepiece is none other than Snoopy, NASA’s beloved mascot. Snoopy makes his appearance nestled on the moon phase disc, a subtle tribute to the “Snoopy” Apollo 10 lunar module. For true fans, a hidden quote from the Snoopy comics is revealed under UV light, adding a delightful layer of discovery.

The Bioceramic MoonSwatch Mission To The Moonphase isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s crafted with sustainability in mind. Swatch’s Bioceramic material, a blend of ceramic and castor oil-based bioplastic, offers a durable and lightweight option for environmentally conscious watch enthusiasts.

Beyond the innovative materials, the watch boasts several features that echo the original Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch. The asymmetrical case, the iconic tachymeter bezel, and the chronograph subdials all pay homage to this legendary timepiece. Completing the space-ready look is a Velcro strap, ensuring a comfortable and secure fit for any adventure.

With a water resistance of 3 bar and a playful case back featuring Snoopy’s paw print, the Bioceramic MoonSwatch Mission To The Moonphase is a watch that’s both functional and fun. Available from March 26th in select Swatch stores for a price of around US$310, this non-limited edition watch makes the coveted Moonwatch experience accessible to a wider audience. It’s a stellar collaboration that proves that innovative design and playful touches can coexist in a timepiece that’s both stylish and sophisticated.

This ‘PC in a briefcase’ reimagines the LG convertible laptop as an optical illusion

Portable computing demands convenience! This objective has allowed an entire PC to be stuffed into our pockets already. Yet, there is no comparison to the suitability and convenience of a laptop. LG ensured laptops remain the most versatile device for all creative needs with the birth of LG Gram ultra-lightweight laptops. Now, designers believe there is a scope to transform LG’s innovation into an optical illusion.

Of course, the major inspiration for the idea of the Illusion screen is the LG Gram laptop. For me, however, it is reminiscent of a transistor from the era gone by courtesy of its carrying handle and a nice metallic sheen. The Illusion screen laptop is a concept design created by KDM+ through LG Electronics’ industry-academic cooperation project.

Designers: JiHoon Park, Sherry Ahn, Dahyeon Kim and Korea Design Membership

A laptop has reformed the way we work today, essentially merging the previously separated digital experience of desktops. As laptops are the daily drivers of the workforce, the Illusion screen provides a reimagined design that allows the display to disappear into the clamshell design. Taking up a little space on the desk, the Illusion laptop presents configurations and styling options to complement our lifestyle and working requirements.

Chances are the transistor reference would resonate with you too. It appears similar with a unibody design – wrapping up an illusionary display on the front and leather cushioning on the back – extending to the carrying handle on top and a nice tuner-style knob on the right. The highlight is the illusion graphics on the screen that continuously play as moving water droplets or color patterns at different screen angles.

With its interesting modular screen, which can be used at any angle from 0 to 90 degrees and in between, the Illusion laptop is usable in any position the user desires. With that versatility, it opens up a range of use cases on your desk to be used independently (with a magnetic Bluetooth keyboard that resides within in clamshell mode) or with an external screen to enhance your creativity.

Since the LG Illusion screen emphasizes portability and convenience, it comes in this handbag-like form with its handle so you can carry it around like a briefcase without additional casing or luggage. The knob on the side is basically for adjusting the screen angle so you can consume different content at different display orientations. On the bottom of the leather cushioned back panel is the speaker grill of the Illusion laptop while on the top are vents for air. The laptop with the captivating optical display has various connectivity ports on the sides, but there is no word on the specifications one will get in this LG Illusion screen.

Husqvarna launches new Autonomous Lawnmower With Built-in GPS

For professional landscapers and property managers of sprawling green spaces, achieving that perfectly manicured lawn can be a constant battle. Traditionally, robotic mowers have relied on boundary wires to define their work area. This not only requires time-consuming installation but also presents a challenge during maintenance or landscaping projects. Husqvarna, a name synonymous with outdoor power equipment (and also motorcycles), is shaking things up with the Automower 520 EPOS, a revolutionary robot mower that ditches the wires in favor of a sophisticated GPS navigation system.

Designer: Husqvarna

Designed for tackling large areas of up to 5,000 square meters (roughly 1.2 acres), the Automower 520 EPOS boasts an impressive ability to handle slopes as steep as 45 degrees. This makes it ideal for managing expansive properties like parks, sports complexes, or corporate campuses. The key innovation lies in the EPOS system, which does away with the need for physical boundary wires. Instead, it utilizes a network of satellites and a reference station to create a virtual work zone. This not only saves time on installation but also eliminates the risk of accidentally damaging wires during other lawn maintenance tasks.

The mower seamlessly integrates with Husqvarna Fleet Services, a comprehensive app-based management system. Imagine the convenience of remotely controlling and monitoring your entire fleet of mowers from your smartphone or computer. The app allows for functionalities like simultaneous operation of multiple mowers, real-time location tracking, and even adjusting mowing schedules based on weather conditions. An alarm system deters potential theft, while automatic weather timers ensure the mower adapts its schedule to avoid rain or excessive heat, maximizing its efficiency and protecting the health of the lawn.

The mower employs a systematic mowing pattern, ensuring a consistently well-maintained lawn. The tiny grass clippings it leaves behind are finely mulched and returned to the soil, acting as a natural fertilizer. This eco-friendly approach not only eliminates the need for bagging and disposal of clippings but also contributes to a healthier, greener landscape. Furthermore, the mower boasts features like over-the-air software updates and a patented cutting height adjustment system, ensuring it stays at the forefront of lawn care technology.

While the initial cost of the Automower 520 EPOS might seem like a significant investment, the long-term benefits for professional lawn care providers are undeniable. Reduced labor costs due to automation, improved efficiency through remote management, and a consistently pristine lawn all contribute to a significant return on investment. The Automower 520 EPOS represents a glimpse into the future of lawn maintenance, a future where robotic mowers operate with precision and autonomy, guided by the power of GPS technology. This innovative solution not only frees up valuable time and resources but also paves the way for a more sustainable approach to maintaining sprawling green spaces.

These Quirky Clothes Hangers That Add A Touch of Fun and Function To Your Wardrobe

Have you ever glanced at your closet and thought, “How can something as simple as a hanger be personal to me?”, since personalizing products in the fashion industry is anyway a trend for the elite. That’s precisely the question ‘HANG / WE’ seeks to answer. It seeks to challenge this notion by infusing individuality and storytelling into the very object that holds our garments. It delves deep into the essence of human connection and personal expression through a series of creatively designed clothes hangers.

Designers: Yun A Jang, Nahyun KimJongWon KimSEUNGMIN LEE, and HWANJONG CHOI,

The core philosophy of ‘HANG / WE’ revolves around the idea that traditional hangers contradict the emphasis on individuality in clothing. In response, the designers set out to encapsulate the stories of five distinct individuals through their respective hangers. Each hanger serves as a canvas, revealing the unique personalities of its users within the confines of established norms. This endeavor mirrors our society’s yearning for coexistence and the ideal of a harmonious community.

The name, ‘HANG / WE,’ carries profound symbolism. It juxtaposes ‘WE’ as the denominator against ‘HANG’ as the numerator, signifying the importance of collective identity and shared experiences. Through the act of hanging, the designers aim to express a fragment of our lives, highlighting the interconnectedness of humanity.

In their design process, the team at ‘HANG / WE’ resonates with the principle of “form follows function,” prioritizing the usefulness of their creations. But they also think it’s essential for their creations to make people feel something deeper. This reminds me of what design expert Hartmut Esslinger once said about how form should occasionally follow emotion too.

So, even though the stuff they make might not look like what you’d expect and don’t turn out to be conventionally ‘aesthetic’, it’s because they want you to have a special connection with it. These hangers, for example. They’re not like regular ones, but that quirky design makes them cool. Each hanger tells a story about the person who uses it, showing off their unique style. So, even though their things might seem a bit different, they’re all about making you feel something special when you use them. And that’s what makes them stand out.

These stories are more important than just looking nice. While looking good is common, things that have a story behind them are special. They’re like a way to tell stories and connect with others. The best designs happen when being useful also makes people feel something. That’s why the hangers from ‘HANG / WE’ are so cool. They’re not just for hanging clothes; they’re for making people feel something too. And that’s what makes them special.

In line with this ethos, each hanger in the ‘HANG / WE’ collection is meticulously crafted to elicit a specific emotional resonance.

No.1: Layered + Hang

Resonating with the design theory of “form follows function,” the ‘Layered + Hang’ hanger reflects a bold departure from conventionality. Its repetitive and overlapping form isn’t just about hanging clothes; it’s a visual representation of our habit of layering various items in our wardrobe.

It’s an intuitive way to dump clothes that your mom may call ‘messy’ but this hanger validates your convenience. Imagine your favorite sweater resting snugly over a crisp shirt, with a jacket thrown casually on top – that’s the essence of ‘Layered + Hang.’ It’s not just a hanger; it’s a reminder of the complexity and richness of our style.

No. 2: Ribbon & Tie Styling

Ribbon & Tie Styling’ hanger is a true embodiment of the philosophy that form follows emotion. It’s not just a hanger; it’s a wearable piece of art. Inspired by the graceful draping of clothes over shoulders and the artful tying of knots, this hanger isn’t afraid to flaunt its personality. Just like how we express ourselves through our clothing choices, ‘Ribbon & Tie Styling’ expresses its personality through its sculptural design.

Hang your favorite dress or your go-to blazer on this hanger, and watch as it becomes a statement piece in your closet. It is ideal for retail stores catering to intricate clothing styles, ensuring each piece finds its perfect showcase.

No. 3: Concat _Ws

A hanger that is designed for those who crave organization and efficiency in their daily lives. Respecting the ethos of “form follows function,” this hanger goes beyond mere clothing storage. It’s a versatile solution that caters to your need to keep commonly used items in one accessible spot. It’s a more intricate form of a cloth hanger stand. Hang your scarves, belts, or even your favorite accessories alongside your clothes. With ‘Concat _Ws,’ everything has its place, making getting ready in the morning a breeze. It’s another piece that makes your messy habits ‘normal’

No. 4: Everything, Everywhere

Everything, Everywhere’ – the hanger that defies boundaries. True to its name, this hanger is designed to hold anything, anywhere. Respecting the principles of functionality and versatility, ‘Everything, Everywhere’ isn’t constrained by traditional notions of what a hanger should be. Its innovative design reveals both bending and hanging functions, showcasing its adaptability to various items beyond just clothes. From bags to hats to even household items, this hanger can handle it all.

No. 5: Plus – Minus

This hanger is all about adaptability and customization. Built on the idea of “adding and subtracting” from your lifestyle, this modular hanger empowers you to tailor it according to your evolving needs.

Whether you need extra hanging space for guests’ coats or want to showcase your latest fashion finds, ‘Plus – Minus’ has got you covered. Its modular design allows you to easily add or remove additional hanging rods, giving you the flexibility to create a personalized storage solution that grows with you.

In essence, these hangers go beyond the realm of traditional product design. It embodies a holistic approach to creation, where every detail serves to foster meaningful experiences and relationships. By marrying form and function with emotional resonance, it exemplifies the evolving landscape of design, where human-centricity reigns supreme. As the design industry continues to evolve, ‘HANG / WE’ stands as a testament to the transformative power of design in shaping not just products, but also the way we perceive and interact with the world around us. Through its innovative approach, the project invites us to reconsider the everyday objects that surround us, reminding us that even the simplest of tools can become vessels for self-expression and connection.

This Carbon-Fiber E-Bike Has A 750W Motor And The Soul Of An ATV

Some people cycle for exercise, some do it for the commute, and some do it as a sport, exploring the toughest terrain on the planet. Common sense dictates that all those activities would require bicycles of different calibers and capabilities – the Heybike Hero wasn’t designed for ‘common sense’… it was designed to absolutely defy it. Armed with a 1000W motor and an incredibly resilient carbon fiber frame, the Hero conquers all, whether it’s well-paved bike lanes or harsh off-road terrain. Available in two styles, the Hero has an overall range of 60 miles on a full charge, weighs just 75 lbs, and comes with a staggering 10-year warranty on the bike’s solid carbon fiber frame.

The Hero comes in two variants, the Step Through with its distinct frame design, and the Trapeze, which is slightly more conventional, but just as spectacular looking. Along with the two frame designs, you also have the option between a 750W mid-drive motor, or a 1000W rear drive motor. The mid-drive motor is notable for its efficiency, and its position plays a crucial role in boosting the e-bike’s power. This central motor configuration offers a few distinct advantages – By strategically placing the motor near the pedals, the Hero achieves a more balanced weight distribution. This translates to improved handling and stability, particularly crucial when navigating uneven terrain or challenging inclines. Traditional hub motors, often located on the front or rear wheel, can cause the bike to feel unbalanced and hinder maneuverability on technical trails. The Hero’s mid-drive motor placement ensures a more natural riding experience, akin to a traditional bicycle.

Furthermore, the mid-drive motor delivers torque directly to the drivetrain, resulting in a smoother and more natural power delivery compared to hub motors. This translates to effortless ascents on challenging inclines and smooth power delivery on rugged trails. Riders can conquer diverse landscapes with confidence, knowing the Hero can handle demanding climbs and uneven surfaces with ease. For riders on a budget, the 1000W rear-wheel variant offers a good balance between power and price, having a tag that’s $300 cheaper than the mid-drive motor variant.

An e-bike isn’t really complete with just a motor, though… the Hero also packs an intelligent torque sensor that continuously monitors the rider’s pedaling input, adjusting the motor’s assistance accordingly. As the rider applies more pressure to the pedals, the sensor detects the increased effort and seamlessly increases motor assistance. Conversely, when the rider eases off pedaling, the sensor reduces motor assistance, creating a more natural and intuitive riding experience. This eliminates the jerky starts and stops sometimes associated with e-bikes, minimizing rider fatigue and maximizing efficiency. You’ve also got 5 levels of pedal assist to choose from, letting you either rely heavily on the motor for a more relaxed riding experience, or go entirely analog and test your cardio and stamina.

Conquering new territories and exploring hidden gems becomes easy thanks to the Hero’s impressive range. On a single charge, the Hero boasts an overall range of up to 60 miles, powered by a rigorously certified 864Wh battery. This eliminates “range anxiety,” a common concern for e-bike riders. Furthermore, the 48V/4A charger offers a full charge in just 4 hours, letting you spend more time on the road and less time attached to a power socket.

The meticulously crafted T800 carbon fiber frame also plays a crucial role in the Hero’s exceptional performance. Preferred by elite automotive and aerospace industries for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, the carbon fiber build allows the Hero to achieve a remarkable weight of only 2.8kg. This translates to superior maneuverability on the trails, particularly when navigating tight corners or uneven surfaces. A heavier e-bike can feel sluggish and cumbersome, especially when navigating technical terrain. The Hero’s lightweight design allows for effortless handling and increased control, empowering riders to tackle challenging trails with confidence. The frame is also exceptionally durable, allowing the Hero to tackle even the most demanding terrain without breaking a sweat.

Both the Step-through and Trapeze variants cater to riders of all sizes, ranging from 5’3″ to 6’6″ feet tall, thanks to an adjustable saddle design. The saddle comes with shock absorption too, along with the frame’s full-suspension build, offering a smooth riding experience regardless of the terrain you shred on. 26×4-inch tires let you glide on rocky roads as if they were paved concrete, and hydraulic disc brakes let you stop confidently to keep you and others around you safe.

The e-bike comes with its own dashboard that displays relevant riding information, although what sets it apart is a companion smartphone app that adds a layer of ‘smartness’ to your e-bike experience. The Heybike app seamlessly integrates with the e-bike, providing riders with valuable data and functionalities. The app displays real-time data on speed, distance traveled, and battery level, allowing riders to monitor their progress and plan their journeys effectively. It also boasts navigation assistance, a valuable tool for exploring unfamiliar territories. Riders can pre-plan their routes or utilize the app’s navigation features to discover new trails. Additionally, the app offers various intelligent features that can further enhance the riding experience. These features may include customizable settings for motor assistance levels, trip history tracking, and maintenance reminders.

Once you’ve zeroed in on a frame design, you can choose between the 750W mid-drive motor that offers 160Nm of torque and a much more powerful ride experience, or the 1000W rear-drive motor that opts for a more standard e-bike architecture and offers just 100Nm of torque. The 750W Hero starts at a discounted $2699, while the 1000W comes for $2399. Both variants have a 2-year warranty on the e-bike itself, but a 10-year warranty on Heybike’s state-of-the-art carbon fiber chassis.

Computer mouse design has to be scratched and deteriorated to show its true self

We see plenty of designs that try to address one of the computer mouse’s biggest problems, that of ergonomics. Truth be told, however, it’s unlikely that it will change en masse and for good, considering how the horizontal shape of this device has been so ingrained in our consciousness for decades. Of course, that doesn’t mean that there’s no room for experimentation, especially when it comes to adding some value to a traditional mouse design. That can be through its shape, its texture, or even its materials. The latter is something that this curious concept tries to play with, suggesting a computer mouse that you intentionally want to get scratched or quickly deteriorate just so that you can see the secret color or design hidden underneath its skin.

Designer: Liang Yao (苦 口)

Physical products age and deteriorate over time, but those that provide some utility tend to grow old and wear down faster. Not all materials, however, age as gracefully as leather or brass, materials develop unique patinas from their use. Wood can chip, metal gets scratched, and plastic fades or gets discolored. Normally, you wouldn’t want your stuff to even get dinged, let alone scratched, because it then loses its value, but this computer mouse concept is the complete opposite.

“Scratch-off” is a design that adds an extra layer on top of the mouse’s actual design that’s not meant to last forever. Just like those lottery scratchcards, the temporary material on top reveals a prize or a dud when you scratch it off. Of course, you won’t intentionally scratch this mouse’s surface, but it adds a bit of thrill and excitement as you slowly see the hidden design underneath.

This actually brings a lot of opportunities for branding and advertising, with logos or markings hidden underneath the outer layer of the mouse’s surface. Of course, it could be a long burn depending on the kind of material used. After all, it might take weeks or even months before the mouse’s outer cover gets scratched off or peeled completely. In some cases, however, there might even be a marketing gimmick where you intentionally damage the mouse’s surface to reveal some visual gem underneath, hopefully in a safe manner.

The concept, however, does raise the question of the material that should be used to implement this outer layer. It has to be easy to scratch or fade, but not too quickly like some plastic sheet that will defeat the entire purpose of anticipating the product’s deterioration. At the same time, however, it has to be a hygienic material that won’t leave flakes behind, considering how your hand will always be making contact with the mouse.
