Humanity has produced no small number of tools and objects over the course of history. Some have evolved to become the tools we use today, while others have almost faded into the background, remembered and illustrated only in history books. While these items of the past may no longer serve a practical purpose today, they could still serve as a stepping stone to inspire the designs of tomorrow. This collection of three everyday products, for example, takes a few pages from the form and even the function of these old objects, creating an atmosphere of wonder and curiosity, while also giving a few visual clues that connect us to our distant past.
Designers: Dami Seo, Dohui Kim, Dong Kyun Kim
Fire-lit lamps may have once been the only way that people could see in the dark of night, but these are not only impractical today, they’re also fire hazards. That said, there’s a certain romantic charm to the shapes and curves of these kerosene lamps, an emotion that the DIDIM_Stand Light tries to replicate with modern technology. The tall floor lamp imitates the style of a lamp dangling from a metal bar, but here the lamp is a battery-powered LED lamp that you can remove and use independently of the rest of the structure. The lamp’s two-piece stand and the wavy cantilever are meant to resemble a person holding such a lantern in olden times.
A bucket-drawn well is almost an iconic image in many historical or fictional settings that depict periods before an industrial age, and this old contraption has come to symbolize not only life that comes from water but also the routines of life in those ages. Today, we use clocks to mark those routines, and the DIDIM_Alarm Clock combines these two concepts into a miniature well that will hopefully make you feel less annoyed when it wakes you up in the morning. Instead of a basket, the “well” has a bell that rises from within when it’s time to sound the alarm. It isn’t a real bell, however, and has a speaker inside to do the work. Amusingly, you have to hit the bell in order to silence it.
A little bit more obscure is the DIDIM_Tray, inspired by old grinding stones that people used to prepare grains and beans for cooking. Instead of grinding things, however, turning the “pestle” handle deploys the fan-shaped trays that have compartments for your phone, your pens, and your earbuds. When you’re done using it and don’t want the circular tray to take up space, simply turn the handle in the opposite direction to transform it into a decorative for your desk or table.
These might be mundane objects you can find in anyone’s home, but giving them a bit of a flavor not only enhances their appearance but also changes the atmosphere around them. And you don’t even have to think hard of designs that will capture your visitors’ attention. By simply looking at our past and appreciating the designs that have come before us, we can already bring a unique visual and tactile experience to these everyday products, while also helping us make a connection with the past.
Computer keyboards are designed for utility primarily, with aesthetics often coming in second place if at all. Considering its purpose, that’s not exactly puzzling, but there are thankfully fresh new designs that are giving keyboards more refreshing visuals without changing the standard formula in any way. There are, however, also bolder attempts at carving a completely different character for the humble keyboard, without losing any of its functionality, of course, creating a product that is as much a work of art as it is a piece of engineering. One such piece is this all-metal “Icebreaker” keyboard, presenting a rather radical approach that aims for maximum impact by distilling the design down to its bare essentials, resulting in an almost brutalist form that takes its cues from that iconic steel-framed building in New York City.
The earliest computer keyboards came with a chunky wedge shape, not for the sake of appearances but almost out of necessity. It offered a naturally inclined plane that was more ergonomic than typing on a flat surface, although the designers of that period may have not been completely cognizant of that. It’s a design convention that today’s keyboards implement using foldable stands in order to accommodate varying user preferences as well as sleeker styles and thinner profiles.
The Icebreaker, in contrast, is unapologetic in embracing that wedge shape and does so in an almost extreme way. It’s actually more of a triangle than a wedge, with the angle facing the user presenting an edge that looks sharp enough to chop wood or even break ice, hence the name. The inclined plane naturally forces your hands to type at a fixed angle, but unlike the first keyboards of old, the design comes with built-in wrist support. When viewed from certain angles, like when the keyboard stands upright on one of its sides, it resembles the Fuller “Flatiron” Building in New York, a piece of architecture that is famed for its unusual shape that represents a cast-iron clothes iron.
Just like that building, or perhaps even more so, the entire keyboard is machined from aluminum, including the keycaps. Unlike your typical keycaps, these are completely concave circles. Even more interesting, the marks on the keys aren’t in the middle but are off to the corners, created using 300-micron micro-perforations. There are no other markings on the keyboard, no color or even backlighting, giving it an industrial aesthetic that borders on brutalism because of its raw, full metal appearance.
Of course, The Icebreaker isn’t just for show and it actually has one feature not found on most keyboards. There’s a programmable dial off the left of the keyboard, a useful tool for creators who constantly scroll through menus and options. It’s definitely an interesting piece of computer equipment, at least visually. Its actual usability and ergonomics, however, are still to be judged when the product actually becomes available for purchase.
The BTF Nixie Watch is a remarkable combination of history and modernity, blending the nostalgic glow of Soviet-era Nixie tubes with contemporary design and technology. More than a mere timepiece, it’s a statement of style and innovation, offering a unique blend of retro charm and modern functionality. In this exploration, we uncover the features that set the BTF Nixie Watch apart, from its distinctive aesthetic to its user-centric features, making it a standout accessory for those who value both form and function.
The design of this watch prominently features the iconic glow of the Nixie tube, recognized for its warm orange light that adds a retro yet futuristic charm. This aesthetic is a purposeful homage to an era when technology was valued for its form and function, starkly contrasting the often impersonal feel of contemporary digital devices. The use of genuine Soviet-era IN16 Nixie tubes not only lends authenticity to the watch but also makes it a unique collector’s item due to the rarity of these components, which were phased out for more efficient display technologies.
Beyond its aesthetic appeal, it incorporates advanced features like gesture-based activation, which lights up the Nixie display with a simple wrist lift, eliminating the need for manual operation and enhancing the user experience. This feature adds a layer of convenience and contributes to the watch’s energy efficiency by ensuring that the display is only activated when needed.
Lift the wrist to wake the watch
The charging experience marries convenience with aesthetic harmony, featuring a bespoke wireless charger designed to mirror the watch’s unique look while delivering efficient power. This tailored solution underscores the watch’s seamless blend of form and function. Further enhancing its user-friendly appeal, the watch is fully compatible with all Qi-standard wireless chargers, ensuring you can keep your timepiece powered using any Qi-certified charging pad. Whether at home, in the office, or on the move, this universal compatibility ensures that your BTF Nixie Watch remains charged and ready, embodying the perfect fusion of retro design and modern convenience.
Easily recharge using any Qi-compatible wireless charging pad
Another cool feature is the timer, which combines the nostalgic charm of Nixie tubes with the practicality of modern technology. Initiating the timer is effortlessly intuitive; a quick double-tap on the watch’s lower button engages the timer mode, priming it for use with just a simple gesture. To start the timer, a single tap suffices, setting it in motion from zero and allowing for precise tracking up to 99 seconds. This feature proves invaluable for a myriad of everyday tasks and moments where precision is crucial, such as timing exercises during a workout or monitoring short intervals while cooking, showcasing the watch’s blend of vintage charm and modern utility.
Double-tap tap lower button to activate the timer feature
The BTF Nixie Watch offers flexibility in time display, allowing users to easily switch between 12-hour and 24-hour formats to suit personal preferences or cultural norms. This feature enhances the watch’s versatility, catering to a global audience and diverse user needs.
The designer combines ergonomic design with an intuitive user interface, ensuring comfortable wear and ease of use. Its thoughtful layout elements cater to user comfort, while the seamless interaction between its vintage and modern components provides a straightforward, enjoyable experience. This approach underscores the watch’s commitment to making advanced technology accessible and delightful to use.
The sapphire glass on the watch’s face ensures durability and clarity
Worn on the wrist, the watch transforms the concept of timekeeping into an art form, blending technological innovation with unparalleled craftsmanship. Including a sapphire surface on the watch’s face is an aesthetic enhancement that ensures durability and clarity. Known for its scratch resistance and hardness, sapphire glass protects the watch while offering a crystal-clear view of the Nixie tubes’ captivating glow, ensuring the time is always visible in its full, luminous splendor.
The sapphire glass is durable and scratch-resistance
The watch comes with two unique case options to cater to different tastes and needs. The 7-series aluminum variant, commonly used in aerospace and military applications, provides an excellent balance of durability and lightness. As a result, the watch can withstand daily wear and tear while remaining comfortable and unnoticeable on the wrist.
For those seeking an extra touch of elegance and resilience, the titanium frame is an ideal choice, offering high strength and corrosion resistance, which keeps the watch looking sleek and new over time, regardless of the environment. These carefully selected materials and customization options reflect the watch’s blend of luxury, functionality, and personal expression, making it a versatile accessory for any occasion.
Besides its technical specifications and customization options, the BTF Nixie Watch provides a distinct identity. Unlike a traditional watch, this timepiece stands out and speaks volumes of individuality, offering wearers the chance to express themselves through a piece that is as rare as it is handsome.
The BTF Nixie Watch combines style, engineering, and history that goes beyond telling time. It invites wearers to appreciate the precision and functionality of a high-quality timepiece and connect with the aesthetic and emotional resonance of a bygone era while enjoying the comforts and conveniences of contemporary technology.
After revolutionizing vacuum cleaners and air purifiers, Dyson has become a design language for most of us. This is aligned with the company’s philosophy of pioneering technologies that stand out for their authenticity and innovation, whether it is the bagless vacuum, air purifier, or Supersonic hair dryer.
The Supersonic is now redesigned for the professionals in the USA. The new Supersonic r hair dryer will be exclusively available for certified stylists starting April 2024, while individuals like us will have to wait a little longer to get our hands on this reworked blow dryer.
Designed to be half the size of the original Supersonic, the r – which is symbolic of its lower case “r”-like shape – is reckoned the lightest and most precise hair dryer from the design house. To stand true to the claims perhaps, Dyson has stuck with the professional stylist exclusive offering only. After finding a sweet spot here, Dyson knows, the sales will skyrocket the moment it opens retails.
Beyond the size and design that would make the hair dryer more comfortable to use and easier to control, the Supersonic r, comes with a re-engineered heater that bends at the end of the shaft, along the hair dryer’s r shape to ensure even heat airflow. The heater tech is the first of its kind in the industry that along with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensors, makes Supersonic r a special product in the category.
The RFID sensors can communicate with the Supersonic r to allow the pro stylist to adjust the heater and Hyperdymium motor to a precise temperature and airflow. On board, there are three airflow controls and four heat modes for the user to toggle. With the benefits of precise heat and airflow, the blow drying is made effortless with no heat damage to the hair, which is further ensured with a range of attachments for varied styling needs: from quick hair drying to defining curls all for an asking price of $570. The Supersonic r was unveiled recently at the New York Fashion Week.
If the leather jacket is the ultimate fashion style statement, then the RŌMFRĒ EDC Backpack is the leather jacket of backpacks. With a full-grain leather exterior (and quilted details), the EDC Backpack has a unique distinction – It’s quintessentially classy enough to go with any outfit, be carried anywhere, and pretty much hold anything you consider an everyday essential.
Most people don’t know this but backpacks are a part of the ‘EDC’ category too. The abbreviation stands for the term ‘EveryDay Carry’, and while most people think that the category just covers tools, wallets, and other pocketable items, the backpack is a classic example of something you carry every day. Where the EDC Backpack differs from other backpacks, however, is in its material and visual appeal, which makes it perfect for work and leisure, indoor and outdoor, and professional and casual use simultaneously.
The backpack’s 100% leather build is perhaps its most visually eye-catching feature. Everything from the bag itself to the straps, handles, and pockets are made from top-notch full-grain leather, available in one of three colors – Cocoa, Black, or Saddle. Aside from the three colors, you’ve also got two sizes to choose from – a Medium with a 17L carrying capacity, and a Large which gives you 22L of storage. Both sizes, however, offer the same classic aesthetic, along with all the features, details, and pockets you’d need to carry your life with you.
Extra secure passport / wallet pocket on the rear of the bag.
Lower front pocket – includes zippered mesh pocket on the front wall
Upper front pocket – big enough for a wallet, passport, keys and other smaller items
Large main compartment
The exterior of the bags features quilted panels on both the front and back that give the EDC Backpack its memorable aesthetic. On the front, the backpack has two outer zippers for stashing belongings (with an extra hidden zipper pocket inside the lower compartment), along with side pockets for bottles, D-rings for hanging carabiners and your other gadgets/accessories, and an extra-secure pocket at the back, right between the adjustable leather shoulder straps.
This pack has a super durable polyester liner, and a double reinforced base.
Features YKK Zippers + Full-Grain Leather
Large interior pocket on the back wall with quilted stitching
Two zips offer access to a rather roomy interior, lined with a super-durable polyester fabric. A dedicated zip gives you padded storage for your laptop up to 16″ in size, while zips on the front let you access the spacious main compartment of the bag that’s outfitted with pockets, mesh-lined pouches, and enough space to store clothes, gadgets, accessories, and anything else you’d need to carry around with you.
Comes with a luggage strap to the back of the bag
Dedicated laptop compartment on the rear of the bag
The EDC Backpack’s appeal is in the fact that it’s designed to complement pretty much every part of your daily routine. Unlike fabric bags that look too disheveled for work, or professional-looking work backpacks that don’t translate well to our outdoor travel aesthetic (after all, that monogrammed company logo won’t look good in your holiday pictures), the EDC Backpack fits in and simultaneously stands out pretty much anywhere. The wonderful leather fabric is perfect for work, looks exceptionally great for travel, and sets you apart as a pretty classy dude if you’re using it as a creative for carrying your camera and whatnot. It’s travel-ready, thanks to adjustable shoulder straps, and a sleeve to slide your luggage handle through. It’s also built to last, relying on high-quality materials, durable YKK zippers, and a double-reinforced base that lets you rest your backpack down on any surface without worrying about your bag getting damaged… and the best part? That gorgeous full-grain leather ages as you do, gathering a wonderful patina that gives your EDC Backpack a distinct character that’s unique to just your backpack.
Left: Large size in Cocoa. Right: Medium size in Saddle.
The RŌMFRĒ EDC Backpack starts at a highly discounted $199 (you won’t find a 100% full-grain leather backpack anywhere for that amount) that’s standard across both Medium and Large sizes. The backpacks are supported by a lifetime warranty on craftsmanship and manufacturing defects (the makers will repair/replace your bag for free), and if you’re in for the full-leather lifestyle, $300 gets you the complete RŌMFRĒ travel bundle, which also includes a minimalist leather bifold wallet, and a dopp bag for your essentials.Click here to Buy Now: $199$249 ($50 off). The vast majority of computer products are designed to favor the biggest groups of users, sometimes to the exclusion of the minority. We’re not speaking about accessibility for persons with physical disabilities, but that is especially true for them as well. Even just the common keyboard and mouse are designed with the presumption that they will be used by right-handed people. And while ambidextrous mice do exist, those tend to sacrifice comfort for the sake of a symmetrical design. That doesn’t have to be the case, as this concept design tries to prove, promising both comfort as well as proficiency, regardless of which hand you hold it with.
There has been an increasing awareness and demand for ergonomic mice, sadly due to the equally rising cases of computer-related injuries. But while there are plenty of ergonomic designs now available, most of them only cater to right-handed users. You’d be lucky if the manufacturer produced a left-handed design, but most don’t because of the costs involved in another product with only a few minor differences.
The proper solution would be to mix ergonomics and symmetry to create a mouse that is comfortable to hold for both kinds of people. Vertrous, a portmanteau of “vertical” and “ambidextrous,” takes its cue primarily from the plethora of ergonomic mice now in existence, most of which adopt a vertical design that attempts to reduce the strain placed on the wrist by offering a more natural grip. But rather than have your hand holding it sideways, you almost grip it like a claw, with your index and middle fingers still resting on top.
At the same time, the mouse’s shape is more or less equally balanced on both sides. Great care is taken to ensure that textured areas are found on both sides, so no one hand has the advantage over the other. That said, there are some features that can really be found in only one place, like the power button, but that’s really a minor detail that has no significant impact on the use of the mouse itself.
While Vertrous does present an interesting solution, there are still some considerations left unanswered by the design. For example, gripping the mouse like a claw could actually end up being more uncomfortable and strenuous than a regular mouse. The symmetrical design also leaves out features like extra buttons that would normally be found only on one side, an absence that many power users will feel acutely. These aren’t flaws per se but more like points for further improvement, paving the road for the day that we finally land on a standard ergonomic mouse design that will really leave no one out, whichever hand they prefer to use.
There’s a significant demand for creatively designed power banks, as demonstrated by MChaos’ new on-the-go power bank. This product cleverly attaches to you and whatever you’re carrying. Not only did MChaos backers fund this product, but they also exceeded the funding goal by 650%. So, what makes this product so popular? Let’s delve in and find out.
Following the success of MChaos’ innovative 5,000mAh wearable power bank, launched on Kickstarter in 2023, they are back in 2024 with an even more powerful solution for tech-savvy individuals and those constantly on the move. The new MChaos device offers double the battery capacity with 10,000mAh. This advancement in wearable power technology promises to redefine how we stay charged while on the go.
The MChaos 10,000mAh power bank offers more than just increased power capacity. It improves convenience and efficiency, too. It adds a bidirectional USB-C port to the existing USB-C/Lightning cable, providing more connectivity options. The power bank also features a unique retractable tape cord and a removable carabiner, enabling you to easily attach it to backpacks or clothing for on-the-go power access.
Think about the typical problems of searching for a power bank in a bag, handling it along with other items, or struggling with tangled cords. MChaos tackles these issues directly, making charging as simple as pull, plug, and go. The retractable cord, which can extend to 28 inches, provides continuous adjustment, stopping at any point to fit your needs. The auto-locking adjustments are the best cord management system on a power bank I’ve seen. It is tested for an impressive 5,000 retractions, guaranteeing durability and dependability.
The MChaos 10,000mAh emphasizes user safety and compatibility. Constructed from fireproof materials, it offers protection against overheating and electrical problems. With its 20W max power output, it can charge a device like an iPhone to 50% in just 30 minutes. It’s also compatible with a wide variety of devices, including smartphones and gaming consoles. It takes three hours for a full charge and can charge another device simultaneously.
User feedback has dramatically influenced the design of the MChaos 10,000mAh. An extra USB-C port has been added for additional device connectivity. Responding to user demand, the company also developed a new version with a Lightning port option for the retractable cable, which will be available for an additional $10.
The overall weight measures 246g or 8.7 oz, with an overall dimension of 114.7 x 105.2 x 27mm. It’s both compact and lightweight. On a more practical side, this can quickly hook to the inside of my jack or belt loop during a hike if I’m not carrying a sling or backpack.
It comes in Pearl White and Stellar Gray – depending on your taste, you can’t go wrong with either color. I like the Stellar Gray, allowing for better contrast with the intuitive battery pad that pops up when you slightly tug at the cable.

Most regular sunglasses only block UV rays, but not infrared rays from damaging your eyes. Kolari hopes to change that with their cutting-edge IR-blocking sunglasses that protect your eyes from the sun, and your face from unwanted facial recognition systems. Pretty cool, right?
When you wear regular sunglasses, the tinted lenses help cut the bright glare of the daytime sun. This does two things – it helps you see clearly without needing to half-shut your eyes, but it also makes your pupils dilate to let more light information in. Conventional sunglasses don’t do much to protect your eyes while they’re dilated in the daytime. The most glasses will ever do is block UV, blue light, and glare… but there’s one culprit that nobody focuses on, infrared. Humans don’t see infrared rays, but they can have long-term effects on your eyes. Sure, one can argue that you’d need high exposure to infrared rays, but think about how often you step out into the sun on a daily basis and all that begins adding up. While your regular Sunglass Hut shades won’t do much about IR rays, one company’s trying to make sunglasses safer for your eyes. Kolari Vision started its journey designing IR-protective accessories for cameras, but is now looking at the bigger picture by designing protective eyewear for everyone. The Kolari Shades are made from actual glass, and can block UV and up to 99% of infrared light from making its way into your eyes. This doesn’t impact the clarity with which you see, but it does help protect your vision… just like any sunglass should!
Designer: Ilija Melentijevic, PhD (founder of Kolari Vision)
Styled to look like a stylish pair of sunglasses, the Kolari Shades give your eyes the comfort and protection they need in the outdoors. “Our goal was to maximize clarity, eliminate color shifts, and block all unwanted wavelengths in order to give your eyes the most rested, neutral experience possible to minimize eye fatigue. Our beta testers are calling the result a breath of fresh air for your eyes,” say the folks at Kolari Vision. Originally founded as a photography company, the folks at Kolari realized that the gear made for cameras seemed to be better in quality than anything the eyewear industry produced. The irony being that your eyes are so much more precious than a $500 camera… so why is it that only camera sensors get taken such good care of, but not the original human cameras – our eyes??
Bridging that gap, the Kolari Shades offer a one-of-a-kind IR and UV protection to your eyes. The sunglasses are fitted with lenses that look just like your average tinted lenses, but they possess the unique ability to block anywhere between 90-99% of all infrared rays and 100% of all UV rays shining through the glass and into your eyes. The benefits of this are two-fold – there’s an obvious health benefit, given how eyes (just like skin) can respond adversely to excessive exposure to certain wavelengths of infrared light. However, a second benefit comes in the form of privacy protection. Most cameras rely on capturing some form of IR to ‘see’, and the shades can effectively block this ability. This prevents unwanted cameras from capturing facial recognition information without your consent. In fact, the iPhone relies on an IR blaster to power its FaceID unlocking feature – which can be disabled with the Kolari Shades. Sure, that means you need to either take off your sunglasses to unlock your phone (or just use the pattern lock instead), but the privacy implications are far-reaching too, as people like law enforcement can’t maliciously unlock your phone by holding it up to your face.
Kolari Shades are truly color-neutral and protect your eyes from all damaging wavelengths of light.
The beauty of the Kolari Shades is that their spectacles are made from actual glass – a distinction that sets it apart from even luxury eyewear. Most eyewear companies use a form of clear plastic for their lenses; a sensible choice because they’re scratch-resistant and they don’t shatter… but the one big caveat with these lenses lies their imperfections. Micro-imperfections in these lenses (even in the ones found in high-end tinted eyewear) can warp the way you see the world, which is why glass offers a MUCH better alternative. Kolari Vision’s lenses rely on industry-leading Corning Gorilla Glass (yes, the same durable one used in your phone) coupled with 51 layers of anti-reflective and anti-smudge coating. While Gorilla Glass can often be 10x more expensive than your standard plastic lenses, Kolari Vision’s still managed to keep their costs competitive, offering cutting-edge materials for the same price you’d pay for a pair of Ray-Bans.
Corning Gorilla Glass and titanium frames make the Kolari Shades extra tough.
The glasses aren’t the only durable part of the Kolari Shades either. The aviator-inspired eyewear sport frames are made from titanium, enhancing the overall durability to a level you’d probably find in smartphones (hint: the titanium iPhone 15 Pro and Galaxy S24 Ultra). You can choose between silver or gold-plated frames, while Kolari offers three lens options – a basic tinted-black (90% IR blocking), a bronze-tinted ultra lens (99% IR blocking), and an ultra gradient lens (with the same 99% IR blocking). The company’s working on newer frame designs and even plans on offering mirror-finish lenses that should take your eyewear’s swag to an entirely new level!
Having all the right tools is crucial for unleashing creativity, whether you’re seeking inspiration in a coffee shop, a shared space, or anywhere else. This calls for a significant level of discipline to select a great stationery set to keep your creative flow uninterrupted. The Bento Jot from NOOE may be the perfect solution. The concept is borrowed from the Japanese bento – a single-portion home-packed meal or for take-out, with a history dating back to the Kamakura period. Modern bento boxes have evolved from simple packed meals to more elaborate arrangements with separate compartments for different dishes, emphasizing aesthetic presentation. This is where the Bento Jot shines. They’ve distilled the essential elements of a bento box, a cornerstone of Japanese culture, to create a tool designed to help you excel at what you do best – nurturing your creativity at work.
Just as a traditional bento box offers various dishes, Bento Jot presents a unique 3-layer stationery set inspired by the bento box and the simplicity of Scandinavian design. It combines a sleek design with distinctive functionality. Composed of 12 carefully designed stationery items, Bento Jot uses premium materials to enhance your desk space and inspire creativity. The design philosophy behind Bento Jot, deeply rooted in the principles of quality, sustainability, and a cohesive aesthetic, reflects the serene and clutter-free ethos of Scandinavian design, as explained by Neetica Pande, Co-founder and Chief Design Officer of NOOE:
“We love stationery, however, the main challenges we saw with most available stationery today were poor quality and the lack of standardization. We envisioned a collection that has a cohesive aesthetic and performs exceptionally well, while still being designed sustainably. We wanted to move from cheap-plasticky to a more emotive-tactile experience,” Pande elaborates.
Every contour, edge, corner and part of the Bento Jot has been molded to be the perfect fit for the creative in you.
This approach to stationery design, focusing on quality and tactile experience, reflects a deeper understanding of the user’s needs and the environmental impact of products. It emphasizes NOOE’s commitment to redefining stationery with an eye for detail and sustainability, making Bento Jot a tool and a statement of purpose and creativity.
The three layers of Bento Jot include the Øver layer, where the Aluminum pen and Monograph Journal are stored. In the Mid layer, a high-quality leather organizer is available for keeping necessary items. The Base layer neatly organizes desk essentials to prevent loss: Aluminum ruler, Blok Measuring Tape, Dipped Pencil, Sticky Note, Logo Pins, Gluestick, Geo Eraser, and Draft Scissor. All items feature authentic designs explicitly made for Bento Jot.
Beneath the essentials lies the mid layer, a dedicated space for the Bento Jot organizer – the vegan leather carrying case that makes the act of carrying your stationery effortless with its expandable features and adjustable holders.
As you explore each element of this smart stack and store system, the tactile feel of premium materials instantly conveys quality. The design adheres to a singular theme: minimalism. Bento Jot is crafted from premium recycled materials, utilizing 95% less plastic than other stationery options available on the market.
The shell is the sum of all parts, so it’s delightful to see that every detail has been carefully considered, such as the rubbers placed at the bottom to prevent scratches, soft die-cut compartments, and the interchangeable lids for customization. The “Forest Green” and “Carbon Black” color options are exclusive and only available on Kickstarter.
Bento Jot’s innovative design encourages users to maintain an organized tableau, fostering undistracted and clutter-free creativity.
Now, let’s examine the individual tools to understand their advantages. They provide everything you need for your desk, reminiscent of a deliciously organized bento box.
Crafted from solid anodized aluminum, the pen’s body is resilient and immune to scratches, maintaining its pristine appearance over time.
The Blade Aluminum Pen, crafted from solid anodized aluminum, offers durability, ensuring it won’t scratch if accidentally dropped. Its magnetic cap closure adds convenience, and refilling with the Schmidt Roller 888 ink filler is a simple task when the ink runs low.
At the heart of the collection lies the Monograph Journal, featuring natural white, 120-gram paper with a dot grid and edge recess for a seamless writing experience. Every page is thoughtfully numbered, and the flat open binding allows for easy writing, making it an indispensable companion for personal reflections and professional endeavors. The journal’s durability is matched by its sustainability, with a cover crafted from cross-grain recycled polyurethane, embodying the collection’s commitment to eco-friendly design.

Adding a touch of personalization to the collection, the Logo Pins can secure up to 12 papers, offering a functional yet stylish way to keep your documents organized. The Geo Eraser, with its slant cut and dual-color design, combines functionality with a modern aesthetic, ensuring that even corrections contribute to the creative process.
