XGIMI Debuts Stylish Projectors to Deliver Quality Entertainment For All, Wherever You Are

With cord-cutting and streaming services, the boundaries between home entertainment and watching videos on the go have gotten even blurrier. With the freedom and flexibility of sources for entertainment, consumers have also begun yearning for freedom from conventional TV boxes or even flat displays. Laser projectors have risen in popularity in the past few years, whether they’re the big hulking boxes that are kept at home or the funky cylinders that we can take anywhere with us. The designs of these projectors have also changed considerably over the years, adapting not just to the needs of people but also to their aesthetic tastes. Now XGIMI is introducing not just one, not even just two, but five sleek new projectors to satisfy your entertainment needs, wherever the craving hits you.

Designer: XGIMI

XGIMI Elfin Flip: Elegance and Power in One

Laser projectors have this connotation of large, uninspiring boxes used in meetings or formal presentations, but today’s designs have thankfully outgrown that stereotype. In fact, some projectors have even embraced the call of adventure, accompanying people wherever they go, ready to play a movie at a moment’s notice. The new XGIMI Elfin Flip is one of the latest in this new breed of projectors, and it doesn’t sacrifice elegance for portability.

With its thin and tall triangular body, the Elfin Flip almost looks like an Objet d’art that adds a subtle yet beautiful accent to any space. But flip its middle section down and it’s ready to play a movie in your living room, impress your bosses with a presentation in the board room, or dazzle your friends with photos from your latest island getaway vacation. And with its compact design, you can easily switch between any of these places without breaking a sweat.

The XGIMI Elfin Flip doesn’t skimp on the performance to get that slim body either. Boasting a brightness of 400 ISO lumens, two built-in 3W speakers, a multi-angle projection of up to 150 degrees, and featuring automatic keystone correction and screen alignment, this stylish projector delivers the right amount of power for an enjoyable movie day or movie night. Powered by WebOS with support for Netflix and thousands of apps, the Elfin Flip offers nearly limitless possibilities on what you can show on an extra-large screen. Best of all, the XGIMI Elfin Flip only costs $399, making it a very tempting offer for those who want a stylish project at home and anywhere they go.

XGIMI MoGo 3 Pro: Fun Anywhere, Anytime

If portability is the name of the game, then the EISA award-winning XGIMI MoGo 3 Pro is the projector to beat. Weighing only 2.4 lbs (1.1kg), this cylindrical beauty lets you take your binge anywhere inside your house or outdoors. With Google TV support, a first for any XGIMI projector, the MoGo 3 Pro has access not just to Netflix but also to hundreds of media sources and apps. Whether you want to watch a video, blast out some tunes, or start a party light show, the MoGo 3 Pro has got you covered.

Inside its very petite body lies a 450 ISO lumens bulb and a projector capable of a 1080p display that supports 90% of the industry-standard DCI-P3 color gamut. With dual 5W Harman Kardon speakers, you enjoy not only bright and vibrant visuals but also mind-blowing audio. And with the Ambient Light mode that syncs the projector light with the music being played, you can instantly get the party started anywhere.

The XGIMI MoGo 3 Pro is filled to the brim with convenient features for use anywhere. Simply rotate the projector body out of its multi-angle base stand to turn it on, no fumbling with switches and buttons necessary. Intelligent obstacle avoidance, automatic keystone correction, and other smart features offer stress-free and effortless operation so you can worry less about setting the projector up and spend more time enjoying the video or music. It can even be powered by a 65W power bank via USB-C, so power outlets will never be a problem. For only $449 ($499 for a bundle that includes the power stand), this agile projector delivers an unforgettable audio-visual experience in no time flat.

XGIMI AURA 2: Theater and Art Gallery at Home

Sometimes you just want to kick back and relax in the comfort of your favorite couch or chair and the XGIMI AURA 2 makes for a perfect partner in crime. With an ultra-short throw ratio of 0.177:1, you can put it near a wall and still get a 150-inch screen with no effort at all. Uninterrupted automatic keystone correction, color adaptation, and smart alignment assist make it super-easy to get the perfect screen without having to get up from your couch each time.

With Dual Light technology, a brightness of 2300 ISO lumens, support for 99% of the DCI-P3 color range, Dolby Vision certification, and 2-channel 15W Harman Kardon speakers, the XGIMI AURA 2 is a multimedia powerhouse disguised as a low, stylish object that can fit in many cramped spaces in your home. With rich and vibrant colors, you can display not only videos but also photos and artwork, turning into wall into a dynamic art canvas.

It can even display games and sports with the smooth MEMC mode. With Wi-Fi 6 support for wireless streaming, any device can become a source of entertainment, fun, and awe. Competitively priced at $2,699, the EISA award-winning XGIMI AURA 2 can turn any flat wall into a vibrant display with ease and convenience, creating a cozy environment for your personal movie night or a lively atmosphere for a celebration with family and friends.

XGIMI HORIZON S Series: Accessible Home Theater Experience

They’re also packed with intelligent ISA 5.0 features like uninterrupted auto keystone correction, intelligent object avoidance, and autofocus, just to name a few. Featuring Dual Light 2.0 technology that combines a Tri-Color Laser with LED, the projectors offer accurate imagery and eye comfort for every video or photo. And to match that superb light display, both are equipped with two 12W Harman Kardon speakers for the ultimate sound experience.

The XGIMI HORIZON S projectors are also masters of flexibility, with a built-in stand that can rotate 360 degrees horizontally and 135 degrees vertically. With premium designs that integrate with your home decor, the HORIZON S Max and HORIZON S Pro stand out as aesthetic pieces when not in use and as incredible home theater systems when the projectors turn on.

But Wait, There’s More!

Even with five new projectors under its belt, XGIMI hasn’t forgotten about fans of its beloved projectors. Launching the MoGo 2 Plus and Halo+ (New), XGIMI is introducing a new generation in its portfolio that adds Google TV support. This makes Netflix a first-class citizen, as demonstrated by new remotes with a dedicated Netflix button. Of course, these projectors still boast the same features that consumers have grown to love, like ISA 2.0 intelligent features and Dolby Audio. At $299 for the MoGo 2 Plus and $799 for the Halo+ (New), XGIMI covers a wide range of features, designs, and market tiers to make sure no one is left behind in their search for a theater experience at home or on-the-go.

AEG Kitchen Range at IFA 2024 Elevates the Culinary Experience with Innovation For All

Being stuck at home for months not only gave birth to the indoor gardening trend, it also helped people rediscover the joys of home cooking. The rise of the domestic chef who’s excited to try out new recipes for themselves or for their families has also given rise to the need for more sophisticated kitchen appliances. At the same time, however, aesthetics has never been more important than it is today, with kitchens finally getting the recognition they deserve as sanctuaries that serve not only food but peace of mind as well. With so many requirements on many levels, it’s no surprise that some brands falter in meeting those needs or choose to focus on just one or two aspects. At IFA 2024 in Berlin, AEG is proudly rising up to the challenge, delivering a new range of kitchen products that deliver not only AI-assisted cooking but also elegant designs that take the cooking experience to the next level.

Designer: AEG

Cook Smarter, Not Harder

AI is everywhere these days, but it doesn’t have to be a complicated feature that requires an entire manual to use. With AEG’s Assisted Cooking, you have smart technologies right under your fingertips, literally, ready to help you with new recipe ideas, the best settings to use for that dish, and even the safest way to preserve the food so you can enjoy it a lot longer. From preparation to cooking to storage even to cleanup, AEG’s new full kitchen line has got you covered with innovation that’s made easy, convenient, and beautiful.

The new AEG 9000 ProAssist with SteamPro Oven, for example, features the AI Taste Assist function that helps you make efficient use of the oven. Simply throw it a recipe and, based on key facets like timing, temperature, and protein type, it will automatically select the most optimal cooking settings. It can even suggest new tasty and nutritious dishes you may have never tried before through the AEG app.

The CookSmart Touch, which is now available on hobs like the new AEG 9000 ProSense Hob, puts all the functions you need under your fingertips. With a simple touch, you can access the new Assisted Cooking function that guides you through each step to complete a dish and even suggests the accessories you’ll need to use. CookSmart Touch also lets you assign pan-frying or boiling to the hob, select different cooking modes, and generally enjoy the cooking process without breaking a sweat.

This intuitive interface is an immense help to novices just discovering the joys of cooking as well pros who want to glide through the process with as little friction as possible. And for the first time, the CookSmart Touch technology provides a seamless experience that spans AEG’s kitchen range, from ovens to hobs to built-in coffee machines. It removes much of the anxiety and uncertainty associated with cooking, adding joy and peace of mind to every meal prep.

Killer Kitchen Style

Even with all the innovative technologies, AEG hasn’t forgotten the most important aspect of its kitchen range: the human element. Designed to look dashing in any kitchen setting, AEG’s kitchen products deliver not only an effortless cooking experience but also a style that suits people’s tastes. The AEG SaphirMatt Induction Hub, for example, brings not only a handsome surface to your kitchen but also durability you can rely on when the cooking does get a bit intense.

This year’s lineup is available in Glossy Black and MattBlack, both standing out with their sleek and luxurious dark hues. Signature metal handles provide not only usability but also visual identity, making AEG designs easily recognizable in any kitchen. It’s not just the appliances either but your food that gets the beauty treatment as well. The AEG 9000 AutoSense Hood’s illumination can really make your dishes pop, adding to their already appetizing aromas. The new AEG Kitchen Range not only makes you feel in total control, it also makes you feel like a culinary master in their natural environment.

Healthy Living, Healthy Planet

Cooking your own food is one of the best ways to ensure you’re getting tasty and nutritious meals, but your health doesn’t have to come at the expense of the planet’s. Appliances naturally leave a carbon footprint, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make it significantly smaller. The new AEG Kitchen Range is not only filled with smart features, it’s also designed to be sustainable and energy efficient without you having to worry about pushing a button to activate some “Eco Mode,” helping you reduce your carbon footprint by as much as 30%.

The AEG 9000 ComfortLift Dishwasher, for example, can save up to 40% energy with some guidance from the QuickSelect with Ecometer function. The AEG 9000 MultiChill 0°C Fridge Freezer not only has better energy efficiency but also has an inner lining that’s made of 70% recycled plastic. The AEG 9000 ProAssist with SteamPro Oven can help save energy with its PreHeat and Residual Heat functions, reducing the amount of electricity needed to keep the food warm.

Selected models in this new Kitchen Range are part of the AEG EcoLine and boast high energy ratings, some of which are even higher than “A” in the EU energy efficiency class. More than just innovative performance and striking design, the new AEG Kitchen Range represents the brand’s no-compromise approach to energy efficiency, environmental responsibility, and commitment to a greener tomorrow for all.

Innovation for the Entire Home

The kitchen isn’t the only part of the modern home that AEG is upgrading with its innovative designs. The AEG 9000X AbsoluteCare Pro tumble dryer brings the same care and energy efficiency from the kitchen to the laundry. With the AbsoluteCare feature that uses a heat pump system to dry delicate material like wool and SmartDry that lets you select lower energy settings, this leading-edge machine has earned The Woolmark Company’s Wool Care Green recognition. It also features 3DScan Technology that determines the humidity in down jackets and duvets for the best drying settings that will keep their fluffiness intact.

AEG is also debuting two new cordless cleaners to keep your home not only clean but also safe from harmful materials and organisms invisible to the naked eye. The AEG 6000 Cordless offers not only strong dust pick-up but also hands-free self-cleaning, emptying its 0.5-liter dust bin with just a touch of a button. The AEG 8000 is the brand’s most powerful and most versatile cordless cleaner, with the UltimatePower multi-surface nuzzle and a brushless DC motor that can capture 99% of dust on hard floors. And with the new Automatic Emptying Station, you can get the AEG 8000 ready for another round of cleaning without having to get your own hands dirty.

Modular mini projector can also be a speaker and wireless charger

It’s probably not something that we really think about but electronic waste is a growing problem since we see a lot of new gadgets released every month. There will probably be even more products conceptualized and created over the next few decades so what we have to think about is how to lessen or at least repurpose e-waste. One idea is to think about modular product designs so that one gadget can have multiple purposes.

Designers: Tae Hyeong Kim and Yu Jeong Choi

One conceptual product is bini, a modular beam projector that can also be used as a mini speaker. It can be used as a single unit with the projector on top of the speaker but it can also be separated into two devices if you need to use either of them individually. There’s even a third purpose for it as you can use the top of the device as a magsafe wireless charger.

Overall, bini looks like any ordinary smart speaker. When used as just one device, the top part of the projector becomes like a mini robot as you can adjust the head with its hinge. There’s also a focus wheel so you can adjust the focus when projecting on a wall or any surface. The buttons intuitively look like actual buttons so it can be easy to touch and use them. The device also has several ports like USB-C, HDMI, and even a headphone jack.

bini is a mini device so you can just hold it in one hand and is also pretty easy to combine and separate the modular parts. It would be interesting if they can make an actual, working prototype as its value depends of course on the quality of the projector and speaker features.

This innovative welder delivers a simple yet powerful tool for novices and experts alike

Not all repairs can be handled by adhesives, and not all artistic creations can be made using a 3D printer. Whether you’re repairing a motorbike, designing a piece of furniture, or giving birth to your next metallic masterpiece, you will undoubtedly need a welder, a tool whose sheer power and complexity fazes even the most seasoned worker, let alone beginners and hobbyists. With today’s technologies and design expertise, that shouldn’t be the case anymore, and the YesWelder Firstess DP200 offers a multi-process MIG welder whose simple controls belie its superior capabilities. Mend those metal fences and assemble that metal sculpture with this simple yet ample welder that will satisfy both greenhorns and pros.

Designer: YesWelder

Welding is one of those fascinating aspects of metalwork that feels like you’re playing with fire, and quite literally, too. Electric arc welding has made it easier and safer, but the process is still daunting and possibly frightening for a beginner. Add to that the fact that welders are literally complex machines, and you’ve got a situation that stumps not just novices but even experts.

Enter the YesWelder Firstess DP200, a multi-process MIG welder that gets with the times to offer an unbeatable mix of easy-to-use controls and powerful features. Designed to make welding less daunting, simpler, and more fun, the DP200 puts the power you need behind a system that gets you up and running in no time flat, letting you start welding anytime and even anywhere.

Users will fall in love with the large 7-inch screen that can be easily seen from multiple angles. With a high level of brightness, it brings clear visibility even in dark environments. That means you’ll be able to see the welder’s important information even when sparks are flying all around. The Firstess DP200 offers intelligent settings recommendations and cautions, guiding welders through some of the more mundane aspects of the process. With a USB-C port, the machine’s software can be easily updated with bug fixes and features based on user feedback, keeping the smart welder alive and usable for a very long time.

The Firstess DP200 also has plenty of features to woo more seasoned craftsmen as well. The Pulse MIG and DualPulse™ MIG welding delivers low spatter and minimal heat buildup, making it easy to work with ultra-thin materials, including aluminum. At the same time, the Flux-cored welding also makes it suitable for thicker materials, while Lift TIG, which can also be controlled by a foot pedal, and Stick welding offer even more flexibility, allowing the DP200 to handle any welding material, need, or environment. And with dual-volt support, the Firstess DP200 is ready for use anywhere in the world and in any location, whether you’re at home or in a workshop.

With a welder, safety is just as critical as the output, and YesWelder doesn’t disappoint here either. Even before you begin welding, the machine does a 10-second self-check to make sure it’s in good working condition. Dual high-speed fans ensure it’s only the metal that melts under extreme heat, not the welder. Convenient and easy to use, powerful and adaptable to any welding use case, and, best of all, accessible to all kinds of users, the YesWelder Firstess DP200 lets you elevate your craft to the next level, making repairs and metalwork a cinch.

Sunrise alarm clock coffee maker sits on the bedside to wake you up with refreshing coffee aroma everyday

In a typical coffee lover’s home, such as mine, the first interaction in the morning is with the alarm clock followed by the coffee machine. Of course, we have been living and functioning this way for most of our lives, and if you would ask, frankly, there wouldn’t be another way we’d want. But a designer duo believes there is a way to integrate the two and perhaps deliver an alarm clock that is also a coffee machine.

Designed to simplify our wakeup process from the loud sound of the alarm to a refreshing aroma of coffee without the extra effort or toiling, the new Sunrise alarm clock coffee maker is not a typical alarm clock or a coffee machine. For the love of waking up more refreshed – in an aroma mimicking that of a café – this is what we would want by the bedside. To know more about how it functions and how the designers have perceived it, read on!

Designers: Marko Filipic and Mati Papalini

For as long as we know it, never before has someone tried to put the coffee machine on our bedside disguised as an alarm clock. The mere idea is commendable let alone the execution, which involves the assurance that you wake up to the smell of fresh coffee every morning. So, with Sunrise, you are saved the effort of setting up an alarm on the bedside clock before hitting the bed and then waking up to the loud and annoying alarm every other day.

With the Sunrise alarm clock coffee machine, you get a coffee maker ready on your bedside. At the time you have set – like in a typical clock – the Sunrise would start making the coffee. There is no loud alarm, instead, as the coffee is being brewed by the bedside, your room is filled with a smell of good coffee that would set a refreshed tone to your day.

At the bedside, the Sunrise appears as a usual coffee maker but with a distinguished color theme and design language. A sublime combination of black, pink, and blue, the coffee machine with no edges has a digital clock at the base. Compact enough to settle on the bedside table or stylish enough to grab the centerstage on the countertop, the Sunrise is worth the time and comfort of every coffee buff. It definitely puts one to think, there could be one less step to waking up and getting a fresh brew first up.

Portable smart farm concept lets you plant veggies anywhere inside your home

Indoor gardening became quite a fad in recent years as people tried to cope with being stuck indoors for days at a time. But while the majority of this trend revolved around succulents and decorative plants that are easy to grow, it also presented an opportunity to start a trend of growing consumable greens indoors as well. Indoor planters try to offer this kind of convenience, but most of them tend to be large appliances no smaller than cabinets or shelves. Smaller households that want to grow a small number of verbs and vegetables might feel left out, but this concept tries to offer those same conveniences and smart features in a more portable design that you can literally put anywhere in your house, apartment, or room.

Designers: Deokhee Jeong, Yubin Choi, Youngnam Lee, Sewoom Hahn

Smart planters may sound simple but the amount of calculations they have to make can be quite complicated. They have to make sure that the plants are not just getting the right amount of LED light each day, they also have to distribute the right amount of water that the plants need, not less and definitely not more either. It’s no surprise, then, that many indoor planter appliances can be quite big, taking into account not only the water container and soil pots but also the electronics and mechanisms needed to make it work.

The POT version of the BalconyFarm planter condenses all those those into a farm that can fit on a small table or even a wide window sill. The box-like device has eight circular containers that can hold the potted plants, but in reality only six of these can be used at the same time, at least if gardening indoors. One spot is where you’ll set up the lamp, while the other circle is reserved for the water container. These two can be placed in any of the eight holes, making the proper arrangement of herbs and vegetables even easier.

Despite the petite size, the BalconyFarm POT has the same smart features as its bigger sibling. That means it knows exactly how to to distribute the water to plants, no matter which spot you place the water container on. Admittedly, there are a few disadvantages, though, like the uneven distribution of light from a single lamp and the lack of ventilation around the plants. On the flip side, you place this planter anywhere, so you can use the growing plants as a decorative centerpiece for your table or desk as well.

Iconic Faema E61 espresso machine now has a consumer-grade model

Even though I am a “certified” coffee addict (if certified means drinking it more than twice a day), I am not one of those that buys expensive equipment and whose kitchen looks better than most coffee shops. But for the true blue connoisseurs, there are brands that evoke a certain joy and Feima is one of those. However, not everyone can afford such a legendary machine since it’s really meant for establishments or rich coffee “professionals.”

Designer: Faema

Good news though for fans of the Faema E61 espresso machine as they are releasing a consumer-level and single-phase version that can adorn your coffee nook at home. The Faema E61 Cult is a version of the legendary machine but still can be described with the words “heritage, historic, and trendsetter”. While it’s meant for homes, it still is a professional machine so it needs to be installed by a specialized technician since it has to be connected to your water supply.

Having the Faema E61 Cult on your kitchen counter makes it look like you’re a serious coffee brewer since it carries the same expensive and premium vibe of the original. It has the chrome aesthetic down pat with wooden elements added to its levers and knobs. There is also a warming rack on top that has a transparent brown finish for its cup guard. The iconic panel is still there which has made the Faema brand “unmistakable since 1961”.

If you know your way around complicated but premium espresso machines, then this is probably something aspirational but useful for you. Now if you’re like me that just uses coffee makers or capsule machines, then this will be purely an aesthetic showpiece, albeit an expensive one.

Modular Coffee Machine lets you vertically add an Ice Maker and Cup Washer to your Brewer

It’s sort of reminiscent of how some homes stack washing machines and dryers one above another… but imagine that scaled down ever so slightly and dedicated to your coffee. Meet UOCO, a modular all-in-one coffee machine that does just more than brew you a stellar cup. Designed to even resemble the washing machine with its clean, boxy aesthetic, the UOCO is a stackable appliance that lets you add extra modules to your coffee maker. Sure, its central feature is the coffee machine itself, but the UOCO also features an ice-maker, and a cup-washer that attach to the coffee machine, giving you an all-in-one vertical station for making ice lattes, and then washing your glass/cup after!

Designer: Yui Jo

Designed by Yui Jo, a student at the Hongik University in Seoul, UOCO is much more than your tabletop coffee maker. In fact, it isn’t a tabletop appliance at all. Large enough to be a floor-standing gizmo, the UOCO is significantly larger than your Keurig or Nespresso maker… but it’s also thrice as efficient.

The UOCO features three distinct modules that stack one on top of the other, connecting through a central port that supplies power to all three gadgets. Right at the top is an ice-maker, which delivers perfect ice cubes to go into your iced coffee. At the center is a pod-based coffee extractor that works just like your Keurig and Nespresso machines. Place your cup inside, add a pod to the tray, and press a button to watch fresh coffee percolate and pour right into your drinking vessel… with or without ice. Once you’re done enjoying your beverage, the cup/mug goes into the third, lowermost vessel – the cup washer. Working like a scaled-down dishwasher, it rinses your cup with hot water, cleaning it inside out and drying it for your next round of caffeine.

Scaled-down design prototype

It seems odd that Yui Jo didn’t opt for more coffee-adjacent modules like a roaster or grinder… but that’s the beauty of UOCO’s open framework. You can add modules as you go, and the UOCO can easily feature a non-pod-based coffee machine option with roasting and grinding capabilities too. Ultimately, the aesthetic is really what matters here. It’s clean, industrial-looking, and adds quite a touch of modernity to your home. You can even opt for colored modules, creating a nice color-blocking totem that goes with your decor.

Espresso machines concept gives you more space in your modern kitchen

Espresso machines are basic necessities for coffee lovers. But most of the ones that are available in the market now follow the iconic traditional design of Italian coffee machines which are luxurious-looking but pretty bulky. And if a kitchen has limited space, then it most likely takes up the entire counter or coffee lovers cannot actually have such machines in their homes.

Designers: Gerhardt Kellerman, Ana Relvao

This concept for an portafilter machine wants to change this traditional design and instead come up with something that rethinks the form factor. The Youn – Ligre gives you your caffeine shot but also makes space in the kitchen for you to be able to do other things rather than just coffee. This machine is as thin as your average computer monitor or small LED TV set but has the usual espresso machine trimmings.

By making the machine simple enough but still highly functional, they were able to conceptualize something that can fit in with small but modern kitchen spaces. It is also made from aluminum so it can integrate easily with other appliances or the aesthetic of your kitchen. It even has a steamer (that looks like a faucet) integrated into it so you get your complete setup.

For noobs that are intimidated by espresso machines, this has an Easy mode so it’s easy to use. For the experts who like more control over various brewing parameters, there is the Nerd mode. It’s a pretty interesting redesign of the usual espresso machines that we get so hopefully someday it will be commercially viable and available.
