World’s First Earphones with 5 Audio Drivers basically puts a 5-Speaker Home Theater in your ear

Designed in tandem with Cowboy Bebop’s 25th anniversary, these Anime-themed earphones hold the distinction of packing the most number of audio drivers in a singular tiny wearable design. Dubbed the “Tribrid 5-Driver System”, the TE-ZX1 from AVIOT uses multiple drivers to cover a variety of frequencies, much like a home theater uses a series of speakers to create an immersive soundscape across low, mid, and high-range audio frequencies. The result, according to AVIOT, is staggeringly great sound that feels nothing like the cheap $99 TWS earbuds you find all over online retail platforms. For a price of $218, the TE-ZX1 offers the option of putting the world’s smallest home theater in your ear… along with hybrid noise canceling to sweeten the deal!

An earphone’s biggest advantage and disadvantage is usually its size. Designed to be small enough to fit in your ear cavity, these audio devices are conveniently compact, but that also limits their capabilities because of how small the drivers inside them are. To account for this, earphones rely on digital signal processing or DSP to help improve sound quality, soundstage, stereo imaging, etc. The distinct advantage the TE-ZX1 has is the fact that it uses multiple drivers to make up for its small size. Equipped with a staggering 5 drivers per ear, the earphones cover a wider range of frequencies, and reproduce them much more accurately, relying less and less on DSP and more on accurately reflecting the audio signal exactly how it is.

Enjoy Wireless High-Resolution Audio with LDAC

The TE-ZX1’s Tribrid 5-Driver System features a combination of a planar magnetic driver and a dynamic driver, along with three balanced armature drivers to produce a wide spectrum of sounds with crystal clarity. “These three types of drivers, each with distinct characteristics, complement each other to perfection. We have uncompromisingly refined the characteristics of each driver, creating an overwhelming amount of information. The result is a dynamic and transient-rich sound across the entire frequency range,” mention the folks at AVIOT. The earphones also come with LDAC tech, supporting all relevant codecs to ensure that high-quality sound is transmitted perfectly over Bluetooth, and hybrid noise canceling to ensure that external sounds don’t muddy the quality of what the TE-ZX1 has to offer. High-quality microphones also help ensure crystal-clear calling, allowing the earphones to serve as more than just audio-listening devices.

All this impressive tech sits encased within an incredibly edgy outer design, courtesy of the tag-team duo of mechanical designer Kimitoshi Yamane and graphic designer Toshiaki Uesugi. Commemorating the 25th anniversary of the iconic anime TV series Cowboy Bebop, the earphones and their case draws inspiration from the high-speed combat ship ‘Swordfish II’ featured in the series. The eye-catching aesthetic balances ergonomics rather wonderfully too, with an outer shell that relies on additive manufacturing – the same cutting-edge manufacturing method used by premium in-ear monitors worn by professionals and experts. Additive manufacturing helps build out complex shapes that other molding/machining methods can’t achieve, resulting in a form that’s highly precise with an intricate acoustic design (that fits those 5 drivers on the inside). A metal nozzle helps effectively channel audio from the Tribrid driver system directly into your ear, and each TE-ZX1 comes with as many as 8 different silicone tips to choose from, for a snug fit regardless of ear type.

The earphones and their charging case come with a gorgeous metallic red colorway, complete with black accents that definitely should grab a few eyeballs. The earphones are rated IPx4 waterproof, making them suited for wearing while exercising or even in mild rain, and come with a battery backup of 8 hours, extendable by an additional 20 hours when used alongside the charging case. Approximately 10 minutes of charging gives you a full hour’s worth of listening, so you’re never left hanging for too long while your fancy 5-driver earphones are charging! The TE-ZX1 starts at a rather affordable $218, putting them square in the mid-range for the TWS category… even though the sound they promise rivals gear that’s 3x the price!

The Beeline Velo 2 is a gorgeously minimal bicycle GPS with a carbon-negative design and Strava support

It’s difficult to believe that it’s been 7 years since the Beeline first launched back in 2017! A perfect accessory for any biker or two-wheeler rider, the Beeline instantly stood out as an incredibly simple, iconic accessory that helped you get from point A to B. Working in tandem with the navigation app on your phone, the Beeline was a simple, sophisticated, and sleek-looking accessory that basically pointed you in the direction that you needed to go. No fancy maps, no bloatware, no extra data. Just an arrow you could follow till you reached your destination. The Beeline’s simple design made it easy to keep your eyes on the road too, by offsetting the need to stare at your phone for directions and potentially get sidetracked by apps, notifications, and other distractions.

Seven years and multiple products later, Beeline just announced the Velo 2, a compact navigator for bike rides. Upgraded with an IPS LCD screen (as opposed to the original’s e-paper display), the Velo 2 retains the Beeline’s intuitive approach to wayfinding, while also giving riders access to basic metrics like distance covered, ride time, speed, ETA, and a compass, alongside the ability to plan routes, share them on apps like Strava, and even rate them in retrospect. Everything sits inside the Velo 2’s compact puck-shaped design that easily snaps on and off your bicycle, making every single step of your journey intuitive and comfortable.

Designer: Beeline

The Velo 2 retains the beloved features of its predecessor, popularized on Kickstarter while introducing an updated user interface and additional navigation options. It’s housed in a compact, smartwatch-like round design with a 1.28-inch circular LCD IPS display, distinguishing itself visually from traditional GPS computers. The unique RockerTop interface replaces conventional buttons or touch screens, offering a distinct tactile feedback which is a notable advantage over touchscreen designs.

Unboxing reveals an eco-friendly package containing the GPS unit, a handlebar mount with two sets of O-rings, an instruction manual, and a USB-C charging cable. The Velo 2, Beeline mentions, is designed to be both carbon and plastic-negative, lining up well with the eco-friendly mode of travel that is bicycling. The device, aside from being healthy for the environment, is also designed to be entirely repairable via Beeline’s refurbishment scheme. The mounting system, though proprietary, is effective and secure, using o-rings to attach to various handlebar diameters.

The user interface emphasizes ease of use. It’s simple and intuitive, devoid of the multi-level menus and customization found in other GPS units. This simplicity extends to its functionality: the Velo 2 focuses on GPS navigation and basic ride data, foregoing connections to secondary sensors or display customizations. The main display shows an odometer, the time, battery status, and a playful bicycle graphic that moves with the computer’s orientation.

A key upgrade in the Velo 2 is its innovative approach to navigation. It leverages user feedback to refine routing, allowing cyclists to rate roads during their ride. This crowdsourced data helps Beeline incrementally improve cycling routes, avoiding poorly rated roads. The Velo 2 offers two navigation modes: a basic compass-style display pointing towards the destination and a more detailed turn-by-turn option. It also pairs directly with Strava, letting you upload rides easily, or even share them with friends and families via GPX.

While the Beeline Velo 2 might not cater to data-driven cyclists seeking extensive metrics and sensor integration, its minimalist design, intuitive interface, and innovative routing approach make it a compelling choice for those seeking a straightforward, enjoyable cycling experience.

The TITANIUM Utility Knife is an elegantly designed EDC for everyday use

Everyday Carry (EDC) is everywhere, and they come in all shapes and sizes with what appears to be an unlimited laundry list of features. However, if you’re the type of person who wants a simple yet elegantly designed utility knife that lives side by side with your keys, then the KIWI, a titanium trapezoid utility knife, could be considered as striking the perfect balance between functionality and convenience that stand out as indispensable tools. With its focus on precision cutting and ease of use, unlike the conventional multitools that aim to cover a broad range of functionalities, the KIWI carves its niche by excelling in what it does best: cutting with unparalleled precision and reliability.

Designer: Ying Wang for DailyGizmo

Click Here to Buy Now: Starting at $59 $79 (25% off). Hurry, only 39 left!

The design philosophy of the KIWI is rooted in minimalism, stripping away the unnecessary to focus on the essential. It boasts a sleek titanium blade holder that houses a standard trapezoid utility blade, epitomizing the “less is more” approach. This design choice enhances the knife’s aesthetic appeal and ensures its functionality, allowing for smooth and effortless blade deployment and retraction. I respect the idea that simplicity can coexist with efficiency, offering a seamless cutting experience without the fuss.

Crafted for standard trapezoid utility blades, KIWI boasts a quick-release design for effortless blade replacement

One of the most notable features of the KIWI is its quick-release blade mechanism. This thoughtful design addresses the common issue of maintaining a sharp edge in utility knives. This feature allows for easy and quick blade replacement, ensuring that you’re always carrying around a knife that’s always ready for action. The knife’s lightweight yet robust construction is another hallmark of its design. By hollowing out a significant portion of the titanium sheet, the KIWI achieves an impressive lightness akin to a quail egg without compromising strength or durability.

Changing the blade is exceptionally convenient—effortless for anyone, ensuring a hassle-free experience.

The one-piece structure, specifically designed to work with standard trapezoid utility blades, measures 5.2mm in width, 25.1mm in height, and 76.6mm in length. I like comparing the Kiwi to a bespoke Italian suit for an everyday utility blade, which can be easily replaced when dull. Changing blades in small knives can often be a cumbersome and risky task, but the KIWI addresses this issue with a blade change mechanism that is both safe and simple.

KIWI’s user-friendly method of changing blades involves merely pressing and pushing the blade all the way out to remove it and doing the reverse to install a new one. This approach underscores KIWI’s commitment to a hassle-free experience, ensuring the knife is accessible and convenient for users of all skill levels.

In terms of blades, the housing is compatible with the standard blade and the hook, black-coated, and rounded-edge blades.

Safety is a paramount concern in the design of the KIWI, with a reliable locking mechanism that securely holds the blade in place, eliminating concerns for accidental slips leading to injuries thanks to a milled bump inside the trail serves to halt the blade, allowing precise control over the extension length. This focus on safety and the knife’s versatility makes the KIWI a trustworthy companion for many tasks, from delicate crafting projects to the rugged demands of outdoor adventures.

The addition of the built-in mini ruler, meticulously milled for precision, adds another layer of functionality, offering a convenient measuring tool that complements the knife’s primary purpose.

Its single-hand operation ensures unparalleled convenience, allowing for effortless use in various situations.

The choice of GR5 Titanium and brass for the knife’s construction contributes to its durability and stability and adds a touch of design elegance with the brass inlay decoration. This blend of materials sets the KIWI apart from its counterparts, making it a tool and a piece of art that lives on your keyring. The convenience of single-hand operation further elevates the user experience, allowing for effortless use across various use cases, from quick adjustments to precise cutting tasks.

The KIWI holds the blades safely and you don’t need to worry about the blade dropping or cutting your lap at all.

The robust mechanism, derived from the intrinsic properties of titanium and precision CNC machining, ensures a secure and reliable blade operation. The ergonomic grip, enhanced by CNC-machined grooves, provides comfort and control, even in challenging conditions, making the KIWI a tool and an extension of the user’s hand.

Once the blade is mounted, the locking bar securely locks it, preventing any accidental openings.

As a regular creator of unboxing videos for Yanko Design, I don’t require a large EDC. A beautifully crafted tool like the Kiwi enhances the production value of my videos. Since I often hold a camera or iPhone in one hand while opening a box, the ease of deploying the blade makes it both safe and effortless.

KIWI excels in a myriad of tasks, ensuring accuracy and adaptability for a wide range of uses.

A couple of convenient features include the ability to attach a 1/4 bit for times when you need to tighten or loosen screws. I use various photography accessories and mounts that require tightening; often, a hex tool is not readily available! Two tritium slots are on each side if you need to add tritium tubes.

Featuring a distinctive keychain hole, KIWI employs a 1/4 bit for effortless tightening or loosening of screws.

Lastly, the KIWI Titanium Trapezoid Utility Knife comes in two colorways: CNC satin silver or stonewashed grey. I personally prefer the latter because it creates a nice contrast between form and function.

Its minimalist design, innovative features, and premium materials make it an indispensable tool for a wide range of activities. Whether for everyday repairs, precision cutting, or outdoor adventures, I can see the KIWI being an essential addition to my EDC collection because it lives up to my expectations of an everyday carry with elegance and efficiency.

PITAKA’s Aramid Phone Case for the Galaxy S24 boasts a Gorgeous Woven Pattern + MagSafe features

Stronger than steel but 5x lighter, PITAKA’s MagEZ cases use the same aramid fibers (also known as Kevlar) found on bulletproof vests and spacecrafts.

It isn’t often that you find a case that looks better than the phone itself, but that’s an art PITAKA seems to have perfected. The company’s woven aramid MagEZ cases look like haute-fashion for your phone, but give them durable protection within a lightweight design. The added benefit, however, is also the fact that these MagEZ cases give your phone MagSafe compatibility, allowing you to easily snap magnetic accessories (including PITAKA’s own products) right to the back of your phone. The MagEZ cases for Samsung’s newly launched Galaxy S24 come in three styles – a default black/grey weave, along with a gorgeous Sunset and a sublime Moonrise variant that look like woven sweaters for your smartphone. These just also happen to be bulletproof.

Designer: PITAKA

The MagEZ Case 4 holds this unique distinction of ticking all the ‘good design’ boxes. It’s equal parts eye-catching, protective, lightweight, and just flawlessly impressive on a technological level. Most smartphone cases come molded out of plastic… but the MagEZ cases are woven. Built using PITAKA’s Fusion Weaving technology, the cases are woven using 600D aramid fibers, known for their incredible strength-to-weight ratio. The designs/patterns you see on the cases aren’t prints, they’re weaves that wrap around your phone, protecting every corner of your device from impact while giving it a uniquely fashionable aesthetic that you probably won’t get with any other smartphone case.

Even at their thickest point, the MagEZ cases are a mere 1.27mm thick (with a minimum thickness of 1.14mm), with an overall weight of 18.9 grams or 0.66 ounces. The cases are so thin that they sit around your phone almost like a second skin. However, their woven pattern gives them a tactile grip that allows you to hold your phone with confidence that it won’t accidentally slip out of your grasp, and even if it does, it’s protected by features like the protective camera lip that’s made from recycled aramid fibers left over from the case-making process.

As their name rightfully suggests, the MagEZ cases boast MagSafe capabilities, allowing even Android users to take advantage of the features and the convenience of MagSafe.
