What sets TerraMow apart is its wire-free AI vision design. Say goodbye to those annoying perimeter wires and RTK stations. There’s no need for manual mapping or complicated installations. Its advanced AI vision system autonomously maps your lawn, navigates around obstacles, and even cuts right up to the edges. Whether you have a simple yard or a complex garden with flower beds, bushes, and trees, expect it to navigate your yard like a pro.

Setting it up is a breeze. Just place it on the base station, which takes about five minutes to configure, and you’re ready to go. No complicated installations. TerraMow does all the hard work for you right from the start.

At the heart of TerraMow is the TerraVision system. This innovative vision system uses three high-performance automotive-grade cameras combined with cutting-edge AI vision technologies. It allows TerraMow to see and understand its surroundings just as you would. It maps your lawn in incredible detail, senses 3D obstacles, and avoids them in real-time. No more worrying about your mower bumping into things or missing spots.

Utilizing three high-performance automotive cameras and cutting-edge AI vision technologies, TerraVision enables TerraMow to navigate and interact with your lawn in unprecedented ways.

One of the most impressive features of TerraMow is its customizable edge-cutting. Traditional mowers, especially those relying on RTK signals, often struggle with precise boundary identification and edge-cutting due to signal issues. TerraMow, however, uses its advanced AI vision system to ride the edge of your lawn, achieving zero-distance cutting from lawn boundaries whenever possible. This means TerraMow can cut right up to the edges of your lawn, ensuring no blade of grass is left untrimmed. It precisely identifies lawn boundaries and can be customized to cut at various distances along the edges, adapting perfectly to the unique contours of your yard. This ensures stable and optimized edge cutting, leaving your lawn looking immaculate and well-defined.

Customization is where TerraMow truly shines. You can set different mowing schedules for various parts of your lawn, adjust the cutting height from 25 mm to 75 mm (1 inch to 3 inches), and even mark no-go zones to protect your flowerbeds. All of this is done through a simple app on your phone. It’s that easy.

TerraMow’s sleek, modern design isn’t only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional. The robust construction ensures durability, while the compact form allows it to navigate tight spaces with ease. Equipped with four key sensors—an obstacle detection sensor, a slope sensor, a rain sensor, and a tilt sensor—TerraMow is designed to handle all kinds of terrain and weather conditions. The obstacle detection sensor helps it avoid collisions with garden objects, the slope sensor ensures it can manage steep inclines, the rain sensor detects moisture and sends it back to the base station to avoid mowing in unsuitable conditions, and the tilt sensor halts the blades if the mower is lifted or tilted, ensuring safety.

Envision a mower that doesn’t just mow in random patterns but follows a precisely organized path. TerraMow’s visual positioning system, driven by visual SLAM technology, ensures it navigates under thick tree covers, roofs, or narrow pathways with ease. This guarantees precise real-time positioning and optimal lawn care even in the most challenging conditions.

Its ability to handle complex gardens is remarkable. Its precise visual system plans optimal paths, avoids obstacles in real-time, and delivers exceptional mowing results even in lawns filled with flower beds, unpaved borders, bushes, and trees. Its agility allows it to navigate through narrow passages as tight as 60 centimeters wide.

Not to mention, there’s also a feature that allows it to pause and resume tasks smartly. If it encounters unsuitable conditions like rain or low battery, it will pause its task and return to the base station. Once the conditions improve, it will resume right where it left off. This ensures that your lawn care is continuous and efficient, no matter the circumstances.

TerraMow automatically pauses tasks and returns to the base station when it detects unsuitable conditions, such as rain or low battery. Once conditions improve, it resumes the tasks right where it left off.

You can choose from different operation modes to fit your needs. The standard mode is perfect for mowing a single-zone lawn or segmented lawns connected by pathways. If you have dispersed and distant lawns, the multi-base mode will serve you well with one base station per lawn. For tiny dispersed lawns, the spot mode lets TerraMow handle the job instantly without needing a base station setup.

And for those who love having control at their fingertips, the dedicated app for TerraMow is a game-changer. You can customize mowing height, schedule tasks, monitor real-time status, use the remote control feature, and enjoy many other exciting options for a personalized lawn care experience.

TerraMow stands out in both connectivity and safety. Equipped with 4G cellular and Wi-Fi options, it allows for remote management and precise location tracking. Security is enhanced with integrated GPS and a 4G module, providing robust anti-theft measures. If someone attempts to steal TerraMow, its location can be tracked effortlessly. Prioritizing safety, it detects any lifting or tilting, automatically stopping the mowing blade to protect both the user and the equipment.

One of the coolest things about TerraMow is its ability to handle slopes up to 45% (or 24 degrees). Whether your lawn has hills or flat areas, TerraMow can mow it all efficiently. Plus, it’s built to be durable and waterproof with an IPX6 rating, so it can handle rain and humid conditions without any problems.

Ready to transform your lawn care routine? It’s time to let TerraMow take the wheel. Picture weekends free from the noise and effort of traditional mowing, replaced with the quiet efficiency of TerraMow gliding over your lawn, doing all the hard work for you. With its advanced technology and user-friendly features, TerraMow offers a seamless, stress-free solution to lawn maintenance. So sit back, relax, and watch TerraMow create the perfect lawn you’ve always dreamed of. Don’t wait—make the smart choice for your yard today. Simplify your life and delegate the mowing to TerraMow.

LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figurines are fully articulated and can eat pizzas and fight crime

Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo. Sure, your first instinct is to think of the famed sculptors and painters of the Italian Renaissance… but for a very specific generation, these names conjured up images of four turtles, fighting crime while snacking on NY slices in their sewer bunkers. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were an absolute craze in the 80s and 90s, rivaling He-Man, GI Joe, and the Transformers for air-time on television. The premise, absurd at best, but it resonated wonderfully with a section of pre-teens and teens looking for something to validate their sense of rebellion. Four vigilante turtles, mutated to have humanoid characteristics, fought crime on the streets of NY using only an eclectic blend of martial arts and martial weapons. LEGO builder Teljesnegyzet decided to give these crime-fighting creatures their very own LEGO-based action figure set. Behold the LEGO Ideas TMNT kit, a rather accurate representation of the four turtles in their superhero garb. The set features the turtles in their four colored bandanas and bands, with their weapons of choice. Each turtle has a belt with their initials labeled on the buckle, and they’re even color-matched to their originals, showcasing four shades of green!

Designer: Teljesnegyzet

The original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles burst onto the scene in the late 1980s, captivating audiences with their unique blend of action, humor, and teenage angst. The concept revolved around four anthropomorphic turtles, Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo, trained in the art of ninjutsu by their rat sensei, Splinter. Together, they battled the villainous Shredder and his Foot Clan in the sewers of New York City, fueled by their love for pizza.

The LEGO Ideas MOC (My Own Creation) captures the essence of the classic TMNT characters. The concept features buildable figures of all four turtles, each equipped with their signature weapons. Leonardo wields his katanas, Raphael his sai, Donatello his bo staff, and Michelangelo his nunchakus. While official build instructions aren’t available, judging from similar LEGO minifigure designs, we can expect the figures to stand around 4-5 inches tall and feature a range of articulation points for dynamic posing. Designer Teljesnegyzet does mention that the entire superhero quartet takes about 2522 bricks in total, which makes it a fairly complex build, but then again, nobody under the age of 20 will probably even remember the TMNT craze, right? (Not even the atrocious 2014 film with Megan Fox)

Teljesnegyzet’s fan-made build currently sits on the LEGO Ideas forum, an online community where LEGO enthusiasts gather to share their creations and vote for their favorites. With just over 1,700 votes, Teljesnegyzet’s MOC is looking to gradually hit the coveted 10,000 vote mark, following which LEGO’s internal team may turn it into a box-set that anyone can buy. You can vote for the LEGO Ideas Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle set on the LEGO Ideas website here.

Algae-based material and traditional Korean braiding turn into striking lights, vases

The world is filled with many things that have the potential to become materials for creating products, and yet we still prefer typical materials like plastics, metal, or wood. Not all of these are sustainable, and those that are sustainable aren’t always easily renewable or require a lot of energy to process or recycle. Admittedly, looking for alternative sources of materials isn’t an easy task, but once in a while, we come across a promising solution both in terms of sustainability and beauty. This rope light and Ikebana vase, for example, are already quite striking in their unique shapes, but they are made even more significant by the fact that they are made using a biodegradable material based on one of the most common and simplest kind of plant on the planet: algae.

Designer: Su Yang Choi

One of the problems with supposedly more sustainable or recyclable materials is that the process of making or treating them isn’t always sustainable, requiring more energy and water than usual. In contrast, this algae-based material isn’t treated with harmful chemicals, has reduced energy consumption during manufacturing, and can easily be shaped using heat. Even better, leftover scraps from the production process can be collected and recycled to reduce material waste at every step.

While the material itself is quite impressive, putting it to good use is the real test. For this purpose, a pair of everyday objects were made not just to demonstrate the usability of this algae-based material but also to show off the complicated designs that can be made with it. And nothing can perhaps be more complicated than knots, especially the beautiful traditional Korean knots known as Maedeup.

This knotting is best exemplified in this Ikebana vase that loops around itself a couple of times in an almost random fashion, symbolizing the unpredictability and cyclical nature of life. In addition to this rather intriguing structure, the biodegradable material used here is mixed with coffee grounds, another sustainable material, to give it that earthy brown color.

On the opposite end of the color spectrum is a long string lamp that uses the algae-based material in a four-faced linear braid that wraps around a flexible LED strip. This segmented structure was inspired by Korean stone pagodas that rise in majesty and grandeur, characteristics carried by this string lamp. These two objects, part of the Slow series of artworks, embody the ingenuity and creativity that spring from combining modern material science and traditional craftsmanship to produce breathtaking designs that do no harm to the planet in return.

Wood-encased computer adds a striking vintage touch to modern technology

The aesthetics of modern and futuristic technologies often revolve around hard metallic surfaces, straight lines and edges, and an almost inorganic characteristic, as if all the opposite qualities are considered antiquated or even medieval. Of course, design trends come and go and sometimes even come back, as proven by the retro craze that has gripped many industries, especially consumer electronics. Duality has always existed in many facets of human existence, but that doesn’t mean those seemingly contrary elements cannot work together. In fact, contrast is an important factor in creating a beautiful composition, and this combination of a desktop computer and natural wood offers one such expression that creates a unique atmosphere around what would normally be a nondescript machine, combining past and present, natural and artificial in a harmonious blend.

Designer: Keegan McNamara

They may be called “personal computers,” but the desktops and laptops of today sometimes feel more impersonal than paper notebooks and stationery. Part of it is due to the very design of these products, adhering to a language often considered sharp, harsh, cold, and distant. There is no shortage of attempts to soften that image, either with customization options or skins that give the semblance of more natural and organic materials like wood.

The Limited Edition Apollo Collection, however, is no faux wood. Utilizing genuine Walnut, Cherry, or Maple, these bespoke computers enclose three important parts of the device to create a striking visual that beautifully contrasts the straight-edged aesthetic of modern technology with the more organic shapes found in nature. It makes the PC not only truly personal but also personable, making it an art object as much as it is an electrical appliance.

The Apollo Collection computers come in three parts, with the keyboard housing the computer itself. A portable screen connects to the keyboard via a cable, while the third part, a magnetic screen stand, completes the configuration for a more typical desktop computer. If typical desktop computers came housed in wood, that is. Each part is made to order by hand, and it utilizes custom circuitry and a bespoke operating system to truly give the computer a unique feel.

Beyond the wooden materials, the design also adds details that not only enhance the computing experience but also add a bit of humanity to the use of the computer via more tactile feedback. Unsurprisingly, the keyboard utilizes mechanical switches, but there are also physical dials for adjusting the volume and brightness of the computer. The exact specs of the computer are, at the moment, not completely known, but the limited edition bespoke design’s true appeal won’t be in its computing power but in its ability to create a new kind of relationship between man and machine.

Why most chairs are outdated and Secretlab’s take on a good design for modern ergonomics

The rise of remote work has drastically changed our workspaces. The boundaries between work and play have blurred, and modern hybrid workers switch seamlessly from spreadsheets to gaming to Netflix—all from the same setup. Yet, when you think of an ergonomic chair, a mesh design like Herman Miller’s Aeron probably comes to mind. These chairs developed in the 1970s have become synonymous with corporate offices worldwide. However, is it time for us to consider other options?

Designer: Vincent Sin, Head of Industrial Design

Historical Context and Evolution of Ergonomic Chairs

The journey of ergonomic design began in the 1970s with chairs like the Herman Miller Aeron, which quickly became the gold standard for office seating.

Everyday workers rarely gave much thought to their sitting habits. Their typical workday meant long hours at the desk with minimal movement. Conversations about sitting often focused on achieving the perfect posture.

The rise of the tech industry and the shift to remote work blurred the lines between work and leisure. As work environments evolved, the need for more dynamic seating became clear. A good chair shouldn’t just do one thing — they must support everything from long hours of sitting to more relaxed, casual postures, no matter what you’re doing at the desk.

One company is leading this shift forward, recognizing the need for modern ergonomic solutions that meet the diverse needs of today.

The Evolution of Ergonomic Seating

Secretlab was founded in 2014 by Ian Ang and Alaric Choo, both avid gamers and StarCraft II professionals. Their journey began out of personal necessity— they needed chairs that could support their extensive practice sessions, often lasting up to 16 hours a day. Existing market options fell short of providing the required comfort and durability. This gap inspired them to design their own solution, leading to the creation of a new standard in seating.

The success of these designs among professional gamers brought Secretlab into the spotlight, but the company’s dedication to ergonomic science and high-quality materials also quickly expanded their user base beyond just the gaming community.

Today, Secretlab chairs are trusted by over 3 million users worldwide, reflecting their commitment to excellence. Despite its roots in designing chairs for esports players, the flagship chair, the Secretlab TITAN Evo, is making significant inroads into spaces traditionally dominated by mesh office chairs. From global esports stages to home offices and corporate boardrooms, it is fast becoming a top pick for anyone needing an ergonomic chair that can support long hours of sitting.

The appeal of the Secretlab TITAN Evo extends to a diverse range of users, including some of the most distinguished figures in various fields. Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer, is among its users, having scored his iconic scores in movies like “Dune” and “Top Gun: Maverick” in the comfort of a Secretlab TITAN Evo chair in his studio. Similarly, World No. 1 chess grandmaster Magnus Carlsen has also adopted the Secretlab TITAN Evo, further highlighting its versatility and appeal.

The Secretlab Difference

What sets these chairs apart in a crowded market? While the Secretlab TITAN Evo might resemble other gaming chairs at first glance, a deeper inspection reveals significant differences. Every design choice is informed by extensive real-world data on how people actually sit. This commitment to evidence-based design is bolstered by collaborations with leading ergonomic experts and regular consultations with an independent Ergonomics Advisory Board to refine their products.

Central to their philosophy is the understanding that the human body is not meant to remain in a single, static posture for prolonged periods. Conversely, traditional ergonomic chairs often emphasize one “optimal” posture, which can lead to muscle and soft tissue strain over time.

Dr. Stuart McGill, professor emeritus at the University of Waterloo and a foremost authority on back pain, underscores this point. “Tissue loads must be migrated from tissue to tissue to minimize the risk of any single tissue accumulating microtrauma. This is accomplished by changing posture,” he explains.

Its proprietary pebble seat base exemplifies this philosophy. It features gently sloping sides that guide users towards the center for balanced pressure distribution while still allowing freedom to sit in various positions—whether leaning to one side or sitting cross-legged.

In comparison, most gaming chairs adopt a far more restrictive bucket seat design inspired by racing seats. These designs work well in race cars to help drivers remain snug and secure in their seats when racing at 220 mph, but they have no place in ergonomic chairs, says Secretlab.

Instead, they prioritize flexibility, allowing users to transition between different tasks and postures effortlessly.

Settling the Debate: Mesh vs. Foam in Chair Design

The choice of upholstery materials plays a critical role in chair comfort and support. While mesh is favored for its breathability, foam offers substantial support, particularly for extended use.

Research from the University of California, Berkeley, found no significant differences between foam and mesh in terms of comfort, pain, and fatigue. However, participants reported finding foam chairs more supportive over long hours, with better pressure distribution.

That said, not all foam is created equal. Secretlab engineered their own patent-pending cold-cure foam to provide uniform weight distribution and consistent density. They cured their foam at lower temperatures, resulting in a medium-firm texture that resists sagging and reduces strain on the back. By ensuring even pressure distribution, it enhances long-term comfort, making it a strong contender against traditional mesh.

Mesh chairs, on the other hand, excel in breathability, keeping users cool during long periods of sitting. The choice between foam and mesh ultimately depends on individual preferences and specific needs, but both materials have their distinct advantages.

A New Type of Computer Chair

Recognizing the shift in workplace habits accelerated by the pandemic, Secretlab leads the way in adaptable furniture design. Their chairs support various activities, from video calls to streaming, by prioritizing movement and versatility.
This approach meets the needs of today’s workers and paves the way for future ergonomic innovations, ensuring comfort and productivity in a world where work and play often overlap.

This design choice is both symbolic and functional, reflecting the purifier’s mission to blend seamlessly with nature. Plants, often regarded as natural air purifiers, serve as a fitting inspiration. While plants contribute to cleaner air by producing oxygen and filtering out certain pollutants, Blom takes this concept a step further by incorporating advanced air purification technology within a floral form.

Blom is an air purifier and an interior object that enhances the ambiance of your living space. Traditional air purifiers often occupy space and can be an eyesore when not in use. Blom, with its flower-inspired design, offers a new experience by adding visual pleasure even when it’s off. Whether mounted on a wall or placed on a stand, it can be customized to suit any room, turning a functional appliance into a piece of art.

Flexibility is at the heart of Blom’s design. Available in four colors, it can be wall-mounted or stand-alone, allowing users to integrate it seamlessly into their homes. An integrated handle adds to its portability, making it easy to move from one room to another. Whether you need fresh air in your office, during a workout session, or in any other part of your home, it adapts to your needs without requiring multiple units.

The purifier is equipped with a state-of-the-art HEPA filter that purifies air efficiently. Air enters through the rear intake, passes through the HEPA filter, and is released through the front outlet, ensuring a continuous flow of clean air. The intuitive design includes a remote control that magnetically attaches to the center of the unit, ensuring it is always within reach and never misplaced.

The integration of smart technology further enhances Blom’s functionality. Users can register their Blom air purifier through a QR code located on the back of the unit and operate it via a dedicated application. The neumorphism-style user interface provides a modern and user-friendly experience, giving users complete control over their air quality.

The air purifier also serves as a digital clock, adding to its utility and charm. When wall-mounted, it functions as a stylish timepiece that also purifies the air, making it a multifunctional addition to any room. This dual functionality ensures that Blom is not just an appliance but a valuable and constant part of your living space.

This $25 Must-Have Car EDC Gadget Could Save Your Life In An Emergency

Seatbelts are designed to not be cut. Glasses on cars are designed to not be broken. That’s all well and great until you find yourself in an emergency where you need to get out of a car and you’re stuck because of a jammed seatbelt or door. Although seatbelts and laminated glass panels are designed effectively to protect you, they can sometimes become the barriers to your safety – which is why it helps to have something like the Lifehammer Smart Automatic on you. A little larger than an AirPods case, the Lifehammer Smart Automatic is an emergency tool that helps you quickly slice through seatbelts and shatter glass windows so you can make an exit in a scenario where every second matters to your safety. Designed to be the essential EDC that every car needs, this $25 gadget could literally be a life-saver.

The Lifehammer Smart Automatic has a pretty compact, self-explanatory design, which makes it perfect for intuitive use in a split-second emergency. The soap-shaped gadget is easy to grasp firmly in your palm, and comes with a cutout on the side that you hook around your seatbelt. Slide the device over and it slices through the seatbelt’s tough fibers like a knife through butter… while still maintaining a safe design that won’t ever accidentally hurt you.

The top of the Lifehammer Smart Automatic houses its glass-breaker tip. It’s easy to identify the two crucial features simply by looking for the orange accents which highlight the cutter and breaker respectively. The top of the Smart Automatic has a spring-loaded head that you simply press into a glass panel. Eventually, it triggers the glass-breaker tip to eject outwards and shatter any tempered or laminated glass – like the ones found on car windows and windshields. The process requires minimal effort and time, allowing you to quickly break through the glass in case your door gets jammed.

A winner of this year’s iF Design Award, the compact Lifehammer Smart Automatic is a lot smaller than most car-safety gadgets we’ve seen, and comes with its own holder that attaches to any part of your car using 3M adhesive tape. This means you can attach the Smart Automatic beside your seat or the gearbox, or even behind the rearview mirror so it’s easier to access than having to open the glove box and fish around.

$88 Sony PlayStation Portal knockoff runs an Emulator with over 3000 built-in games

Sony’s lawyers better get their ceases and desists in order – a sub-$100 knockoff of the Sony PS Portal is available online with arguably better specs than the original. While Sony announced the PlayStation Portal as purely an accessory to the existing PS5, this carbon copy dubbed the M25 actually runs as a standalone device, running LINUX and EmuELEC but with support for more than 25 other emulators, and space for more than 3000 games so you can play anywhere instead of being relegated to just your PS5. Is it a shameless ripoff? Absolutely. Are we surprised? A little, at the audacity for sure!

When compared face to face, there are distinct differences between Sony’s version and the M25. For starters, the latter has a much smaller 4.3-inch screen that fits into the controller’s form factor instead of being a tablet attached onto the controller like in Sony’s design. This also means the M25 is a little more compact than its inspiration, making it easier to carry with you. That being said, the PS Portal wasn’t designed to be carried anyway, given that it needs to be tethered via WiFi to your PS5 at all times, eliminating any possibility of mobile gaming. The M25, on the other hand, has storage of up to 128Gb, letting you store and play games pretty much anywhere you want. It’s more like a Nintendo Switch Lite than like the PS Portal, in that regard.

Just on the design front, the M25 is a total ripoff of the DualSense controller, with a modified form that fits an HD screen (or so they’d have you believe) in between the two halves of the controller. A Quad-core processor on the inside runs the M25’s experience, with 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage (expandable with a TF card). A 3000mAh battery powers the entire device, and the display maxes at 480×272 pixels, which does feel like being shortchanged, but then again what did you expect for $88?

The M25 runs Linux and the EmuELEC emulator. You can sideload any other emulator of your choice, and the storage should allow you to play and save a dizzying 3000 games. Sure, it doesn’t compare to playing AAA titles like Assassin’s Creed or GTA 6 (if and when it releases) on a handheld device, but if you want to game on a subway without splurging on a Nintendo Switch, the M25 may just be your best bet. Better still, if you want a budget gift for a spoilt kid who wants the PS Portal, hand them this one and see if they notice! It’s available on Geekbuying, and ships from China, so don’t expect to be able to follow up on any warranty…
