Blind Watch makes life easier for visually impaired, can be used as a hand clock

Life for the visually impaired is not easy as they have to struggle even to get done most of the simplest tasks. Thankfully inclusively designed daily gadgets and devices make their life much easier. Keeping track of time is one of the needs that blind people have to depend on others if they haven’t got the hang of talking watches like the VOICE GRUS, or find them impractical in noisier environments.

A braille watch is the next best option as we saw with the Ehsaas concept watch designed by Nikhil Kapoor. Now, yet another concept envisions the future of timepieces crafted for the visually disabled so that they can lead a normal life.

It’s about feeling the time tick on your hand as the braille system denoted by the marking on the watch gives the blind idea of the hour and minute of the day exactly. The square-shaped dial of the watch has two overlapping knobs represented by the hours and minutes hands with precise markings to differentiate the two. The inner gear mechanism actuates the movement of these big dials to define the exact time of the day which is important for anyone with visual disability.

While the Blind Watch can be worn on the hand as a wristwatch by securing straps to the metal body, the designer proposes the use of a single strap for it to be used as a hand clock. This makes it easy for the person to carry it in the pocket or secure it around the neck to prevent it from getting misplaced. The watch is a tad bigger for the wrist and will only fit well for people with bigger hands.

Nikon Z fc HERALBONY limited edition cameras radiate self-expression with artful designs

Thanks to the popularity of smartphone cameras, photography is no longer something limited to seasoned veterans, a term that’s often applied to older people. The younger generation has been captivated by the joys of preserving fleeting memories and sharing them with friends, whether it’s snapping up Instagram photos or using a dedicated camera for more professional-looking shots. That said, the majority of these DSLRs and mirrorless cameras still seem to be designed for those veterans who might have less colorful tastes when it comes to their equipment. It’s a bit ironic that such a tool for capturing expressions would itself lack the kind of self-expression that younger photographers thirst for, which is why Nikon is launching a limited edition Z fc camera series dressed up in a few of HERALBONY’s vibrant artwork.

Granted, there are quite a few cameras designed to capture the attention and patronage of younger customers, GenZ or otherwise. Most of these, however, are either of the Polaroid-style instant camera variety or the point-and-click cameras that have been made redundant by smartphones. Professional-level cameras, in contrast, come in the usual shades of black and gray and pretty much nothing else. They look and feel premium, mind you, but they might not have the visual impact some users might want.

That’s what makes the Nikon Z fc mirrorless camera a bit of an outlier because it actually has different color options that don’t sacrifice that premium leatherette material in the process. Admittedly, it’s not a full customization feature, but it’s the closest you’d get in this product category. With this collaboration with HERALBONY, however, there are even more exterior options, ones that convey the liveliness of youth and freedom of expression.

Of course, there are people who actually prefer to dress up their phones with stickers and decals, but the large majority want to show off their new phone’s pristine beauty, especially if that phone is an iPhone. That Apple logo on the back is, of course, a matter of pride for owners so it feels counterintuitive to cover that up with a thick and opaque case.

There’s a reason that ESR puts the “Classic” label on this series of cases for the new iPhone 16. Despite offering an impressive set of protective features, the transparent back still lets the original style and color of the iPhone 16 shine through, though you do have choices of colored edges to match the iPhone’s natural color as well. With a back that’s only 1.6mm thick, it doesn’t add that much bulk to the slim and sleek phone.

The materials themselves also have a kind of “sticky” quality that prevents the phone from slipping off your hand easily. That stash stand also functions as a ring you can hang from your finger while your hands are carrying other things, almost like a built-in loop. It would have been nice if it could also function like a popsocket of sorts so you can hold the phone with even more confidence, but the current design doesn’t make that possible. That’s a puzzle that ESR will hopefully solve in future iterations of the Stash Stand.

Performance

A protective case is only as good as the protection it offers, and the ESR Classic Hybrid with Stash Stand for the iPhone 16 definitely has plenty of that to go around, almost literally. Almost every side of the case has a feature that ensures the safety of the phone no matter which side it drops on, including the 1.2mm raised edge around the screen and the 0.7mm raised camera guard. There’s also the acrylic-PC material used for the back of the case for enhanced durability and a TPU edge that is promised not to discolor and turn yellow over time.

One unique feature of ESR cases is its Air Guard corners, which are basically small empty pockets that serve as cushions for the most common part of the phone that hits the pavement. These look like very small bumps rather than obnoxious bumpers, staying true to the minimalist design language that the Classic Hybrid cases embrace. Although Apple just announced latest iterations of the iPhone, Watch, and AirPods, it seems like the company still has new products left to announce. Given that the iPad Pro got the M4 chip earlier this year, it only makes sense that Apple would bring the same flagship chip to their other products. Renowned analyst Mark Gurman announced that Apple has yet another event that’s due for sometime in October. The upcoming October 2024 event is expected to unveil a range of exciting new products, particularly in the Mac and iPad lineup. Among the anticipated announcements are the M4 MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini, along with new iterations of the iPad mini (which hasn’t seen an update since 2021) and iPad 11. These product launches continue Apple’s trend of releasing updated models with each passing year, reflecting its commitment to pushing the boundaries of performance, design, and user experience. This event is expected to mark the debut of the M4 chip series, following last year’s release of the M3-powered devices.

Nike Dunk Low Halloween will spook festive flair in sneaker culture this October

Nike is all set to give fans a reason to spook up the neighborhood this Halloween with the introduction of not one but two eerie edition kicks. Just earlier this month, the Swoosh company took wraps off the Halloweenized model of the Air Force 1 Low, and now we are here with the Nike Dunk Low “Halloween,” offering a frightful take on the court favorite.

Designed with the scary style statement, not specifically for the court alone; the street-smart Dunk Low silhouette captures the spirit of Halloween very nicely with Bright Cactus, Black, and Green Curry colorway, embellishing the cracked leather upper and other unnerving antics of the pair.

Designed for the holiday with its “Halloween” color scheme, the limited-edition Dunk Low Halloween, carries many fan-favorite aspects to give the creeps. First up, the cracked leather upper contrasts with a molded skull motif (with a 3D effect) on the black toe box. The shoe is marked with eye-catching textured black material on its tongue and the laterals while orange laces and the gum soles give the shoes a vintage aesthetic.

The look is completed with a long-molded Swoosh logo appearing in the same color and material as the toe box. This look of the Dunk Low is not very different from the Black and Crimson colorway of the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Halloween” iteration which carries a similar human skull modeled on the toe box.
