Command & Conquer F2P Hoping To Make Up For C&C 4

The long suffering Command & Conquer  series is getting a new entry in the form of a free to play sequel of sorts to one of the best games the series has to offer – C&C Generals. Judging by the video, the team plans to lift all of the best elements of that particular title while staying true to the franchise’s roots, but EA’s track record for bringing back revered franchises is not exactly stellar.

Mobile Wii U Possible, At Least In Theory

The Wii U’s tantalising glimpse of true traditional AAA gaming untethered from the TV is enough to make even the most stalwart home console devotees wonder at the possibilities. The Vita purports to be a AAA console away from your home console but largely fails to deliver while tablet games still largely lack the depth and sheer scale of their homebound brethren.

Epic Says Sony & Microsoft Are Betting Heavily On F2P

Free to play has undoubtedly transformed the industry, apparently to the point where the 800 pound gorillas of video games are making it a priority on their upcoming machines.  The first incursions by microtransactions into AAA games have already been made with the advent of Dead Space 3′s crafting system and Forza Horizon’s cars. However, since those are $60 games, it would be nice for prices to match.

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon Might Be Getting Franchise Treatment

Far Cry 3 expansion Blood Dragon might be one of the most interesting things to hit the FPS space in years and in a rare move for a publisher of its size, Ubisoft seems to have cottoned onto that fact. At least if what action B-movie legend and Michael Biehn  says about internal talks regarding a Blood Dragon franchise is accurate.

A memo circulated among employees finally puts rumours that the Next Xbox will require a constant connection to the Internet to function to bed once and for all. Console functions like Blu-Ray playback, TV and single player games are specifically called out as things that will never be restricted by Internet access.

There was very little doubt that SimCity’s nothing short of disastrous launch would do little to stop EA’s drive to refresh beloved IP. After all, the chilly reception SimCity enjoyed had more to do with harebrained DRM schemes, questionable PR efforts and an overwhelmed server infrastructure than the quality of the game itself.

Camelot Unchained Funded At An Average Of $150 Per Backer

Mythic Entertainment founder Mark Jacobs of Warhammer Online and Dark Age of Camelot fame has seen his Kickstarter for Camelot Unchained has confidently skipped past its $2 million finish line. Camelot Unchained, a three-way realm war take on the MMO will now be entering testing by January and aims to ship in December 2015.
