Windows 10 release date revealed

windows-10-1

Microsoft have announced that, starting on July 29th, Windows 10 will be available in over 190 countries. Besides, this new version can be gotten for free as long as users are already running Windows 7 or 8.1.

“Windows 10 is a new generation of Windows designed to empower you to do great things,” said Terry Myerson, executive vice president of Microsoft. “Windows 10 starts to deliver on our vision of more personal computing, defined by trust in how we protect and respect your personal information, mobility of the experience across your devices, and natural interactions with your Windows devices, including speech, touch, ink and holograms.”

This new Windows brings the much missed start menu back, to the joy of million of users around the web, and will allow them to easily find their files, apps, and favorites.

Microsoft promise that Windows 10 is fast, restarts fast, and helps our laptops batteries last longer. Besides, Windows 10 includes Windows Hello, Microsoft Passport and Windows Defender to protect against malware. On top of this, they’re committed to update constantly and for free for as long as this product’s life cycle lasts.

This new version of Windows has been optimized for all Windows devices and apps, with an interface fit for touch as well as mouse and keyboard. For this new update, the OS will include Cortana, the digital voice assistant (Microsoft’s Siri, of sorts), which learns the users’ preferences to quickly access information. Along with Windows Hello, it will be able to recognize users without them having to use a password to access the PC.

It will also include Microsoft Edge, the renewed Microsoft navigator that comes with a few new features. It has integrated ink, its built in for sharing, and optimized for reading. With Cortana integrated, Microsoft Edge can give results and content according to the interests and preferences of users.

There is also a new side of Office 2016, now optimized for touch screens and designed from the ground up to operate on Windows 10. These apps allow users to easily create and edit Word documents or PowerPoint presentations while making live annotations while they work. With the new touch controls on Excel, people can create or update spreadsheets without using a keyboard or mouse.

Windows 10 can also pair up with the Xbox One and all smartphones and tablets of the Lumia line, as long as they have some form of Surface. So keep it in mind, on July 29th, update your version of Windows to 10.

Windows 10 ’9888′ Build Leaks; Full Release Planned for Q3 2015

Windows 10 Xbox One

As Microsoft continues to work on their next operating system, Windows 10, a leak of its latest build shows us a handful of new features.

When it was announced earlier this year, Windows 10 was received with open, incredibly welcoming arms. By and large, Windows 10′s predecessor Windows 8 was rather underwhelming.

Windows 8 removed the Start button only to replace it with a Windows logo and a centralized hub for apps and software, meanwhile the new ‘Metro’ user interface gave us live tiles instead of program icons. It appeared as though Microsoft had optimised Windows 8 for tablets, failing to recognise the needs of desktop Windows users.

As a result, Windows 10 is going to make amends, with the revival of the Start button being just one confirmed feature. We’ve now got a few more ideas about what Windows 10 will bring us though, as the 9888 build of the software has leaked online.

A build from the Windows 10 Technical Preview (versions of the operating system designed to give us an overall idea of what Windows 10 can do, rather than being anywhere close to a full release), Windows 9888 signals the last Windows 10 release of the year. That’s why there’s been so much interest around this leak.

However, the unofficial leak doesn’t provide as much of a massive step up from 9879 (the official build that came before it) as many would like. Neowin notes that there are “new animations, better organized context menus and a new default applications for settings” whilst the above video shows off a search bar in the new Settings app, allowing us to customise options even quicker.

What it signals is that Microsoft is taking great lengths to optimise this for the masses. Windows 8 was a let down and so with Windows 10 bringing a snazzy new Start menu (it allows us to attach widgets and adjust their sizes) they’ll need to tweak things to make sure that they work as well as they can, save their next operating system has poor UI too.

As for the full release of Windows 10, Microsoft’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Kevin Turner has said that the plan is to release the OS in late summer or early fall 2015. The final Technical Preview will be out in January offering the final chance to influence that end product, so we’ll keep you posted once we know more.
