CityVR Lets You Stomp Around San Francisco like Godzilla

Have you ever dreamed of being a giant and walking through a city like a Kaiju? Sure, we all have. CityVR is here to make your dreams come true. Kind of. Not really. It is a virtual reality experience for the HTC Vive that lets you wander around a big city as a Godzilla-sized human.

It was developed by Amber Garage. Feel free to wander around in a digitally-recreated San Francisco, which was built using satellite and drone images, as well as topographical data. It appears to be a faithful recreation of the Bay Area city, with every landmark, skyscraper, and house reproduced in detail. Sadly, you can’t swat at towers and skyscrapers, or break the Golden Gate bridge in half with a foot, but it’s as close as you will get to being Godzilla for the moment.

More cities should follow. Let’s hope they add a virtual destruction mode soon too.
