This is by far the easiest way to install an automatic doggie door in your home. The Automatic Electronic Pet Door installs in a sliding patio door. Your pet wears an ultrasonic collar that opens the door when it gets within a distance you set (1-10 feet). The door automatically closes and can be turned off or set so your pet can only enter or leave the house. A dual pane window goes above the door. And yes, you can still use your patio door and even lock it up with a deadbolt (to the pet door’s frame).

Sliding Door Power Outlet Covers
Here’s a cool little project one Japanese man created to tastefully hide the power outlets in his home. It’s a little sliding door made out of wood. Good idea for those rarely used outlets. He made a few different style like the center-opening Shoji screen style above and the single sliding solid door version below:
While they may be completely unnecessary, and definitely not a good way to childproof your outlets (unless you add a little tiny lock on them), they do add a nice Japanese style decorative touch to your home decor. If you want your own, find a handy friend or learn some woodworking. (via rocketnews)
